- How to fit Fiat 500 aftermarket parking sensors without taking off the rear bumper.
This video is taken from another video of a repair of this particular car but has been edited down for just the fitting of the sensors.
Some may say the two side sensors should go a bit further out towards the edge. Possibly, but I'm happy with the position.
Easy job, bought on eBay for £16.99 - Авто та транспорт
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
Cheers
Pedro
Great video did mine today in Austria
Great job my wife has been asking me to install parking sensors on her 500 I've put it off because thought it was too much hassle but after watching you make it look easy I installed them no problem.thanks mate keep up good work 👍
Glad it helped
i thought that you did a great job love all your videos
Stephen Stone thank you. Glad you enjoy them.
Nice guide done mine today
Hi mate
That's a good job done I might see about fitting some to my 2008 Toyota yaris sport

Great video very helpful 👍🏻5*
that was quick thanks, one other thing the power lead to supply is the wire you used only active when in reverse gear
Yes, you splice it into the reverse wire and then an earth which I use one of the light mounting holes but on this convertible I used one of the boot hinges. There is probably a better place behind the carpet but there's not much room to move around in the C boot.
@@Love500 thanks for all the tips i saw some on Amazon for about £16 do you think they be ok seam quite cheep
@@stewkea8618 I pay less than that on eBay. They work fine.
That was a great straightforward informative video and I’m going to fit some for my wife on her twin air. What make are yours, they looked good.
Cheapo from wish. Link in the description
We put the same on the 500l we have and it has the warning screen which you mentioned they work well my 500 cult has them already
Love those seats in the cult
What type of sensors are needed to connect to a Fiat 500L on-board computer? Or can you use any, for example, Chinese with Aliexpress?
@@user-gl5xn3wr1x it a separate unit and doesn’t plug into the computer
Very good video! My question would be, what color cable should the radar be connected to? (Can't see clearly in video)
It’s the second one in. Grey & Green I believe. If you stick the power wire into the plug and put it in reverse it will work.
It matters where you put the sensor plugs if you are using the additional screen, as it tells you what side and distance an object is, great informative video though Ta.
Kevan McDonnell yeah I
suppose it would do. Never thought of that👍
Hi there again,i just want to pick your brain, on those parking sensors where did you mount the bleeper unit in the rear somewhere or does it have to be to the front for the driver to hear, if in rear can the driver hear it go off ok, and are the wires long enough to fit bleeper in front.
The sounder is very loud. It comes with a sticky pad and is stuck behind the side boot carpet on the inside of the quarter panel. Its plenty loud to be heard at the front. There is 2.5 metres of cable should you want to mount it up front, but there really is no need. It would be too loud to be up front.
Great job. I was hoping for a reversing camera too(don’t know where to put my screen)
I installed one just above the stereo on the dash. Drilled a hole in the top of the dash to run the wire. Looked smart.
@@Love500 I considered that, but I ended up putting the screen on the up side of the drivers side sun visor. Flip visor down to view. Push it back up when not in use.
@@chookvalve you could always get one of those rear view mirror screens
Excellent job in alignment , what’s the cost difference and can you retrofit originals to a car that didn’t have them as a option ?
G I dread to think. I don’t know whether the originals use the original loom. They have the control box on the other side behind the rear light. I would never bother as these after market ones are good.
Love 500 ah good to know as Japanese cars don’t tend to like aftermarket parts for certain things , I guess as Fiat use the same system then why pay more for OEM
Nice vid. My daughter managed to reverse into a concrete fence post (she’s still learning) and since coming back from the body shop the sensors have been a bit intermittent. Took it back and they seemed to have fixed it but still, on occasion, we’ll just get a solid beep when there’s nothing behind the car. Any idea what that could be? Was thinking a dodgy earth but don’t think the beeper would work at all if that was the case. Anyway, your vid makes it all look pretty straightforward so may haul the light cluster out and take a look.
I guess it’s probably damaged whichever sensor was closest to the impact. You could try just replacing the one. You would have to splice the wires though so maybe get a second hand set. Bumper will have to come off though.
@@Love500 ta. Should have said it got a new (2nd hand) bumper and new sensors in the body shop. They just plugged the new sensors into the existing control box though so could be that the box took a knock as that rear quarter took a fair bit of the damage. Annoying that it’s an intermittent fault. I’ve got the new sensor box so might try swapping it over.
@@craigasmith68 definitely worth a try.
Do you know if they can be spray painted to colour match the bumper?
Yes they can. I did exactly that. They still worked the same.
Please can you post a link, the bio does not specify which ones
@@crispymaster these were just cheap ones from eBay. The link would be out of date by now but the ones on eBay are all pretty much the same.
Very helpful, but have you considered getting an external Microphone set up? was VERY hard to hear you ;)
This was using my new external microphone. It plugs into the phone replacing the built in mic.
@@Love500 Might need to invest in a better One then lol, Sorry but even with full volume it found it hard to hear you :)
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes I'm going to look at third party apps to video from which may have volume control. On last nights video post processing I manually upped the volume.
hello what is the distance between one sensor and another?
I guesstimated it.
@@Love500 May I know what measurements you have given?
@@Love500 I would like to make your own measurements, you worked very well. I would like to know at what height you placed the sensor starting from the bumper strip and how far the sensors are from each other.
@@pierpierpa3979 I no longer have this car but as you saw from the video I put one in the middle and lined the others up in line with the edge of the light. It was commented that they should face Gwen further towards the curve in the bumper.
@@Love500 I understand I try
