I’m a little late to the party, but I have a 2012 abarth with 329,891 miles all stock and I am the only owner. I have not had to replace a single serious thing on this car besides tires brakes a couple intercooler hoses and oil changes! I drive it hard as well! I consistently beat Subaru wrx’s and Mini Cooper s all the time lol. This car really is a beast! Just have to make sure sport mode is turned on because it truly makes a difference!
I had one (auto) from 2015 - 2018, now I’m considering getting one again, the only difference is that I used to go mostly city miles back than vs now that I mostly do highway miles. I don’t remember.. but how are these on the highway at 70-80mph? And how has reliability been? I gave mine up at 42k miles and never had an issue.
They’re pretty good at 75mph. Not the most plush ride but I’m happy with it. In terms of reliability it’s definitely not a Japanese car. I had to replace the alternator and had a leaking rear brake so I’ve spent about $2000 on maintenance . Have 60,000 miles on mine.
@@shouldigetit at how many miles did your problems start? And was it a headache to get it fixed? Like finding parts or a mechanic that was able to work on these? I’m not technically minded at all, would any regular mechanic be able to work on these?
I bought mine with 45k miles. Alternator issue was a few thousand miles after that. Finding a mechanic is easy. Parts are unique to fiat so a bit more expensive than usual. For instance the alternator is $500. Only 1 type fits it. Most cars have a $150-250 alternator.
I was never really a fan of those but didn't know how cool they are! Great job bringing up some really cool selling points. One of the things I thought was cool about my Focus ST are the active grill shutters to save gas. It's the little things 😊
@@shouldigetit you're welcome! Yea between that and the over boost feature, "Overboost is designed to extend the peak torque of the Focus ST's 2.0L direct-injected turbocharged 4-cyl. engine for 15 seconds at a time when at full throttle. ... The overboost feature extends the peak another 1,500 rpm, squeezing nearly 10% more torque - and attendant acceleration - from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm, Ford says." I remember at one point wanting one of these 500 Abarths really badly when looking for a first car. The only thing is I went to test drive a regular 500 to get a feel for the size and found and it was just too damn small for me.
Ah man, it’s alright you ended up with a fun car anyway! One that has a much better radio ;) I’d bet the seat was up pretty high in that 500 or it had the sunroof. Both make it feel much smaller. That....or you’re over 6 foot 4!
@@shouldigetit Yeah, I'm definitely glad I ended up with my Beetle! Now that you mention it, this 500 did have a sunroof, so that might explain why I felt a tad claustrophobic inside.

Wow. Could you write a summary of your maintenance regimen?
Wow
Assuming you still have it, do you have a manual or automatic?
Doubt it
One quirk is I get almost 40 mpg Freeway driving in non sport mode doing 65. It's a Rocket when needed too
That’s awesome! I’m about to drive it 300 miles so I’ll try to get near that!
What tire pressure are you running?
Should I Get It Reviews 35 all around. I love this car. It gets under your skin ....another quirk lol
That's very nice tribute, the only thing I would change is the first words, you have say it like "THIIIIS...", with conviction, almost theatrically
Noted! Will do better NEEEEXT time

Nicely done review, Ben. Love these little Abarths!
Thank you Rick! An ode to Boomba

This is super well done. Good job!
Thank you!
Cool video, I like how you're more detail-oriented.
Thank you
Can't wait to see some driving reviews as well!
Love it, especially that growly exhaust note!
Me too! Even better after I put the 500 Madness exhaust one, I have a video of that on the channel Marko :)
