I'll be truthful Ted, i really need a neighbour like you! I'm considering buying similar set but no visual aid, just the audio, for my 2003 Honda Civic but my mechanic ignored my text asking if he could fit them, I'd love them but struggling to find an trustworthy person who'd be experienced and confident to fit them. Watching you do it so calmly is encouraging but I'm no good with the electrical side. I'll probably just keep sticking me head out or asking a complete stranger to bang on the rear window when I'm very close! Great vid mate!
I’m wondering how you managed to solder that thing in Fiesta… I’m trying in high temperatures and the solder works, but it looks ugly and I’m afraid it’ll come off on a first bump. It’s a great video overall!
Would installing rear parking sensors overload the reverse circuit, considering that some vehicles already have a backup camera or an aftermarket camera installed?
@dondada1949 I've not tried it, but I doubt that having a reversing camera and sensors would pull enough current to blow the fuse. Many new cars have rear view cameras and parking sensors and there are kits available which contain both e.g. www.parkingsensors.co.uk/product/camera-mirror-monitor-reversing-kit
@eimdeima The wiring colours are not normally the same as domestic wiring. Try to identify the wire that is connected to the metal strip that all of the bulbs are connected to. This will be the earth
Great priced units, but it looks a little bit too much effort to me, I'll just continue to have my wife hang her head out of the back window making 'beeping' noises that progressively get louder and louder as my rear end heads for the lamp post or walls. Great video all the same sir :)
Thanks Simon. Connecting the sensors to the reversing light on a Renault Traffic would be very similar. The only issue I can think of is the length of the wire to the led display. If it's too short there are 3 options a) just rely on the audio alarm b) extend the length of the wire c) there are ( more expensive) kits which have a wireless connection between the audio box and a separate led display which you power from the cigarette lighter.
So hows it going so far then ?...is the minimum distance enough before the continuous beeping that indicates you are very close ?....how much ia that diatance?
I'm very happy with these sensors. Both are still working well. The continuous beeping starts when you get within approx 30cm/12 inches. They must be good, my daughter hasn't hit anything since I installed them 😁
Alright that’s perfect thanks a lot, I just had one last question, do you put the parking sensors in a certain order or it doesn’t matter as in I can seem to tell the difference in lettering between any of the sensors
If you need parking sensors on a Yaris or fiesta you need to hand in your licence, I’ve an old quashqai for almost 4 years and the parking sensors stopped working after fortnight after purchase so I’ve used my built in parking sensors since, my brain and eyes they never failed me yet.

Thanks for the great feedback Charlie. The head out of the window technique is still very effective 🙂
You explained in a way that none can explain better than this
Thank you for the great feedback 🙂
Thank you so much for making this video, Ted! It's folks like you that make the world go round.
Thanks for the great feedback 👍
Wow......to the point, clear and concise.......this was very helpful, its made me confident to take on the task. Much appreciated!
I was apprehensive before fitting the first one but it was easier than I expected. Good luck 🤞
You make it look very easy I think I would struggle with the soldering!
Soldering is just fiddly. Try practicing with some old wires and you will soon get the hang of it.
There’s actually a gromit in the boot floor (fiesta) just where you’ve pulled the carpet back exactly for this reason 👍
@@DaveJenkins82 Thanks for pointing this out 👍

@@fifkun_ It doesn't have to look pretty as long as you get a good join. Thanks for the great feedback 🙂
Thanks Ted, that gave me motivation to redo one join and it’s better. The circuit works, time to drill some holes!

I am struggling to identify the wires. Would the earth/ground not be the yellow and green wire on the back of the lights? Tia

@@bigtedshome yeah..... That would make things too easy right...? 🤣 Thanks for the tip, it was perfect, managed to identify both wires now. 👍👌
@eimdeima Well done 😁
one of the most useful video on the topic subject .. thank you Sir.
Thanks, I'm glad you found it useful 🙂

Get her to stand behind the car. It will give her more of an incentive not to misjudge the distance between the car and wall 😉
@@bigtedshome Hahaha, i'll suggest it...wish me luck!
Big up from Scotland 👍

Great video. I wonder if these kits would be suitable for a Renault Traffic van?

No, we Yanks also call those "bumpers." The "fenders" are the areas of the car body surrounding the wheels. Good video.
Thanks for correcting me Kirk 👍
Great works, mate.

Hi Ted How they sensors holding up after a year?

Is the connection the same for a Ford focus a well
Yes, you just need to identify the positive feed to the reversing light
@@bigtedshome thanks a lot of the earth wire where does that go
@@sherwinfernandes3424 You can attach the earth wire either to the return or to the chassis.
Alright that’s perfect thanks a lot, I just had one last question, do you put the parking sensors in a certain order or it doesn’t matter as in I can seem to tell the difference in lettering between any of the sensors
@Sherwin Fernandes The order doesn't matter, they are all the same.
I get confused on the splitting the rear power from the light lol. Solder? :(
nice video
Thanks 👍
