  • Leo is back to talk about not just a 146, but the whole suite of nibs for it. Plus a bit of a rant on buying used online. Enjoy!

      It really is! Thanks for watching. As usual, we always have stuff processing in the pipeline and more lined up, it's just a matter of time!

    I don't suppose I will ever write with, or even less own a pen like this, but it's interesting to see the wide range of nib widths that you have in your set. Obviously a quality design, no doubt, and also so clear how many other pens have been based on similar looks, even though they have the 1940s/1950s appearance.

      Yes! It's a cool piece to have and incredibly useful as a reference and comparison.

    I got a brand new Montblanc 146 a year ago not sure why but with every day that it had been with me I can see why it is such an awesome pen

    Very informative video. FYI, I sent back a 146 on sale. Because I did'nt like the way the pen writes I had it send to MB to have the nib changed. MB wanted $250 for the swap. I asked the shop to just send it back. I'll live with the way it writes.

    What a great set. I'm looking into buying a 146 with one of the oblique nibs, but I can't test them in person and can't decide which one I want. I want as stubby as possible and looking at your tests, I'd say OB is more stubby than an OM, while still being able to use it as an everyday writer (as opposed to OBB/OBBB?). Would you agree with this statement?

    • @InquisitiveQuill
      @InquisitiveQuill  7 років тому

      The OB is definitely more stubby than the OM, and it feels oblique but does not provide as much variation as a BB or OBB. OB offers very mild variation and B a little more. You can pause at 8:02 to squint at the writing sample some more. I'm afraid I am able to use my OBBs and BBs as regular writers so my daily writing experience may vary from yours a little. Hope that helps!

      At the widest spots, the OBB is around 1.1 to 1.3mm. Hope that helps!

      I forget, it was a long time ago and my wallet is still feeling rather traumatized from the incident.

      Yes, I have a few generations of 146 and some other 70s and 50s models. Like Waterman and Sheaffer, they have a lot of history worth exploring!

    You might want to rethink your 'studio' location and the annoying background music. Otherwise keep at it.
