Excellent presentation, Leo! There are many China-made fountain pens that are affordable and perform well. Thank you for the information you present in an impressive way.
The Sailor Pro Gear Saporo Slim is costing about $110-$135 US vs. the $13 for the Delike. Sailor Pro Color ranges between $65-68 US. Thank goodness there are decent pens available for those of us who do not have larger bank accounts. (LOL). I own the LingMo pen. Smooth writer, and nice looking pen. Paid about $12.99. After three months my LingMo is holding up well, with no cracking or other issues.
sorry to say, but you may have been conned! I got my lingmo for about 6 USD. Straight from the factory! probably helps that I speak mandarin, so I could browse the Chinese sites for the best bargains.
Well I live in the US, and was not able to get mine straight from the factory. Furthermore, Mandarin is definitely not my 2nd language, If it were I would be able to 'browse' the Chinese sites. However, thanks for your insights.
I have a red lingo. The non solid colors are all acrylic, not plastic, can be made eyedroppered and are bizarrely nice writers. I put a plumix stub into mine and it's just a fun, cheap, lovely pen. China's quality is getting pretty astounding.
Aww, thanks! I first came to fountain pens because italic nibs fascinated me. That Lamy joy 1.1mm was the first step on the path to reforming my chicken scratch.
Sure! I have a Jean Richard Terrascope in white/blue, a Sistem51 from Swatch and a pair of g-shocks from the 5600 series. I have plans to get a Grand Seiko, Speedy or a Milgauss, but I keep getting distracted by pens. Plus the Alpininst feels like a beast that will last me forever.
Thanks, Inquisitive Quill! Beautiful watches, especially the Alpinist. I know; it is hard to decide between pens and watches. Each give a different experience. I would lean more towards pens. You see, feel and write with them when with watches you only look at them. Happy New Year!
Thanks for watching! Agreed on the materials. The cracked orange/blue acrylic was pretty cool. And unheard of on real Sailors. (aside from the bodies of high end mosaic models)
any idea what the chinese words for Delike and Lingmo are? cant find them on taobao. am also very interested in the 'war and peace' replica... hate to support chinese illegal replicas but im still a student, beggars cant be choosers.
I did the sand test as u did like alot of people did I have both real and fake and the fakes are greatly made and very surprising u can notes get a great pen for 7 bucks instead of paying 200 that's a deal there exactly the same besides the markings and nib. I put a salor nib on the fake covered up the markings and have professional fountain pen retailers who have been in business 30 yrs try it and they thought it was the real one that's how good the fakes are these days
I would really like to know more about these Chinese companies. Quite a few now have Pilot nib and feed. I wonder I they are using the same tooling. Why are three different Chinese companies using same nib and feed knock off.
Until someone does some super serious investigative journalism in their factories, all we can do is speculate! It feels like they're happy to use whatever works.
Judging from the options offered from other similar pens, the most they'll likely offer are F and M nibs and maybe a gold nib depending on the specific company. They have never had very expansive nib options, but when they do you can expect it being offered on everything since they seem to use the same nibs everywhere!
Open a file to store up all of your reviews (video clip) on the copied/ imitated/ pirated (by any country/factory) versions of the world's brand. The comparisons should be super funny. Any copied LAMY yet?
Jinaho and Hero have made safari clones. (See Hero "summer colors" etc) I've looked at a safari clone a while ago, and with the new contacts I have, I'm sure I'll be able to access a few more pens in this vein, but I'd like to do a little more research before I commit to anything. You should try looking up "war and peace", you might get a surprise from that too!
Are you saying the Nagaswa Procolor fountain pens look like Sailors? If so, this is because Sailor makes a lot of special edition pens for fountain pen stores around Japan (and the world!). So those are not replicas - they are the real thing. Rare special versions too. I'm sure I've covered this in a previous episode, like any one of my trip unboxing videos. It's a deep rabbit hole!
Inquisitive Quill aha, thanks for the tip, found it ... i personally have both sailor pens plus the loreilei ... interesting to see the difference ... the loreilei is smooth but dont have the premium feel to it
I have both the delike new moon and the sailor profit 21. They always go together, and the funny thing is that people in the office actually dig the delike more for the translucent acrylic and the smoother nib. I guess non-fountain pen people do not appreciate nib feedback the way we do. For them the 21k gold nib is just too "scratchy."
Delike/Lingmo = D.L.L.M... sounds like the most frequently used Cantonese four+foul-lettered word/foul language.... (It is a copied product, Sailor in Japan may burst out these words to Delike/Lingmo).

Good to know! There's something for everyone.
the cinematography is wonderful! props to the camera person!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll pass on your compliments to the cameraman/producer.

Yup! They're very solid pens for that price, and the pilot steel stubs are great.
I just got my Delike New Moon & I love it!
Great! Glad it turned out well!
I also just got a Sailor ProGear & I keep the Delike & the Sailor both in my pen case & they are both so smooth!
Great!!
Excellent review. These will be good for some hard to clean Noodlers inks that I enjoy but don't want to put in my expensive Sailor pen!
Thanks! Yes, they would make for good surrogate pens. The nibs were reasonable, so it's a pretty good value proposition.
Where can I get my hands on these pens? They are very pretty
Looking up "Delike" or "lorelei" brings up a few results, mostly ebay and taobao.
Enjoying your reviews Inquisitive. Keep them coming. Can you post locations of Delike retailers? Thanks.
Thanks! I'm not exactly sure where my friend bought them, possibly taobao. The delike is the new moon model, so also try "新月"?
Love the channel! Like the editing and camera angles!
I shall pass on extra props to my friend who does all the camera and videowork! Turns my ramblings into coherent speech.
Inquisitive Quill Well I like the rambling and might be extremely jealous of your writing, mine has never been too good.
Aww, thanks! I first came to fountain pens because italic nibs fascinated me. That Lamy joy 1.1mm was the first step on the path to reforming my chicken scratch.
Hey Leo can you review the Jinhao 992? Its similar to the Lingmo but it costs almost 10 times less
Them too?? I will consider reviewing it if I can find someone in my local groups who has one! They're actually all around the same price on Taobao.
Awesome alpinest, what do you think about it in person, I may get one.
Buy. Now. Anytime. It's a solid watch!
Inquisitive Quill that's great I may have to, I've been eying it and the SARB033 (black) for awhile now, I just need to decide.
What cartridges do these pens accept? Sailor?
Could you please tell me what watch is that on your wrist?
Looks like my Seiko SARB017 Alpininst!
Thank you!
If you don't mind, what other watches do you have/ like?

Inquisitive Quill
Nib and feed is Pilot Metropolitan copy. Same as Wing Sung 698.
Love your Voice man.... you sound like a Lion
These are very pretty pens, even if they are knock offs. Thank you for sharing them.

One of them is a "Lorelei水妖" the other is a "New moon" or "新月".

Inquisitive Quill I don't think there are many investigative journalists in China.
They all mysteriously disappear! *conspiracy intensifies*
Let's wait till they start offering different nibs - so far they moved on to the nib fits and shapes. Next step is the tips and grinds.
Judging from the options offered from other similar pens, the most they'll likely offer are F and M nibs and maybe a gold nib depending on the specific company. They have never had very expansive nib options, but when they do you can expect it being offered on everything since they seem to use the same nibs everywhere!
Ah, another video!

Nagasawa Pro color fountain pen
which is japanese EXACT replica of sailor.
Think its patent expired issue here

or LingMo has always been Sailor OEM
and now uses the same mould but their own name.
Just like ACER Travelmate
HAHAHA
Nice pens
whats delike's name in chinese?
Check out "上海晶典文具社" on taobao. There's...some interesting stuff on there.
Inquisitive Quill aha, thanks for the tip, found it ... i personally have both sailor pens plus the loreilei ... interesting to see the difference ... the loreilei is smooth but dont have the premium feel to it
On average the Sailors use slightly better quality materials!
I have both the delike new moon and the sailor profit 21. Hahahaha. I didn't name the video...but my producer may have been a little sneaky!
Ouch.
H. Xian I just realised it sounded like dui lei 😂 Title on point af
Leo you look sooo like the hearthstone player Trump
Passing resemblance!
Most confusing!
Yes! Looking forward to see how it evolves.
