Thankyou Becky, I haven't used silhouette in 2 years. I had I had isues getting into my account. Silhouette customer services never responded. I gave up and then I decided to just to eat my lost in my library and make a new account. When I made my new account, My orginal account was added, so I deleted my new account. @@cejjresale I hear you. I've had a Cameo for 8 years and I can count how many times I've actually used it because the software is just too complicated. I don't do traces and compounds etc. I've just tend to use my cricut everyday because the software is so much simpler and easier, and much less frustrating, I have had cricut since 2005 and the only reason Bought the cameo initially was for the print and cut prior to cricut installing that on their design studio. Then I upgraded my cameo because cricut does't have a rhinestone program. I only use silhouette now for rhinestone making.

Thank you! Just got business edition for $50 at Swing Design -as an upgrade from the FREE version. Don't know if that was special or not, but it did say upgrade from free version and it works perfectly! This helped a TON!

I upgraded to Business Edition almost 2 years ago for 49.00 opened it up and was so overwhelmed I never went back and threw my cameo 4 back in the box where it sits. If you use the test and it is does not cut properly so you adjust the settings to improve the cut. Does using the test button a second time result in it doing a test cut in a new position?
Thank you for this great starter video. In it you mention tracing and defer to another video. Which video do you go more into tracing? I want to use this for stained glass design and tracing an imported photo is exactly what I need.
Silhouette Studio now has an auto trace feature when you upload an image. 😊 When uploading it will put a red line around your image to show you what will be cut out.

Hi Becky. I'm a new Cameo 4 user. I'm trying to cut vinyl without a matt. Using the auto cut settings, it cuts too deep. This is Oracal 651 and a brand new blade. Should I turn the force setting down? Is 10 a good setting with a matt or do you find you have to set it down a bit?
@@creativefabrica the last one I tried was force of 6. It still went through the backing in some places but not everywhere. But I didn't try to remove the excess vinyl yet to make sure it cut cleanly. Maybe I should put it on a matt instead of free feeding the roll?
Hello Becky. I'm a hobbyist maker who's new to cutting machines. I have a Cameo 5 and Silhouette Studio BE v4.5. I'm finding 90% of my projects are vinyl. However, whenever I start a new project it defaults to "Cardstock, Plain". Is there a way to set the default material for a new project? IIf so I haven't found it yet.
That's a great question, when sending a new project to cut it will automatically select a material, there currently is not a way to set a default material.
Silhouette would need to be opened on your computer as it is a program and not an app or website. However you can use the bluetooth capability without having to upgrade to business edition!
Hi love watching your videos you explained things so good thank you but I have the silhoutte and I upgraded to designer edition but their are times that I turn ony laptop n go to silhoutte and on top it be on basic edition a lotta times why ? It should always be on designer edition at the time I didnt know what we were doing upgrading to designer their were these keys I'm not sure if I purchased a key lol don't know 4.4 designer edition untitled 1 that's what it says on top I want to upgrade to business edition but how much more do I have to pay to upgrade? If I already have designer edition? Thank you
When you upgraded did you go to the "Help" tab and click Upgrade? That is where you will want to enter the key that you were sent, likely in an email when you purchased your upgrade! You can try reaching out to the company that you purchased the key from! 😊

Can we get Silhouette Studio to share (2 laptops), or must we purchase upgrades for each? And, do we have to register our machine right away? We have Kittl Pro too. (for DTF and screen printing T's). Right now, she's in SC where the machine is, setting up the new homestead, and I'm in Houston working/getting ready to retire. Thanks for your input and sharing your knowledge!
Hello! You can definitely share with two laptops, many times when you get the key for Silhouette (any edition above basic) you will be informed that the key can work on up to 3 different devices! 😊

When you create something in Silhouette it is yours! Unless you have purchased from the Silhouette library as those images do still belong to the copyright holder.

Hi there! If you click Designs at the top of the screen and the select Page Setup, from here you will be able to see the Ruler settings. If the ruler is not blue, it means that it's off. Here you just click on the ruler and you should be able to see it! ❤️ Let us know if you have any questions about this ❤️
@@milypino Hi, this is probably too late now but I've found that depending on the size of your screen the ruler won't show up! If I put the tab on my large screen (anything bigger than 13 inches really) the ruler disappears even if I have 'ruler' ticked on.
I've use cricut design space for about a year finally figured it out but I hate the size limits so I get a camio pro 4 is this simlar to design space? Just wondering trying to get info before camio pro 4 is delivered
Hi Tammy, thanks for your question! The max print and cut size with the Cameo 4 is 144 square inches. but to take full advantage of that size, you must use a wide format printer and 11" x 17" material. Additionally, we recommend looking up a comparison of Silhouette Studio and Cricut Design Space for all details on their similarities and differences 😀
I downloaded the software. I don't get the grid pattern mat, though. I just get what looks like to be a blank piece of paper. How do I get that grid mat with the ruler around the outer edge of the workspace?
When you have your workspace open, go to the top right "Page Setup", at the top of this window there are three different options, you'll want to click the one that looks like a grid, it's called "Grid Settings". 😊 Once you've clicked that setting then you can click "Show Grid" and you will then see the grid mat. ❤️

Hello! 😊 You'll want to install the fonts onto your computer and then if you have silhouette open you'll want to close out completely and then reopen. Your fonts should then be available in Silhouette!
Hey Monique! The great thing about Business Edition (or any upgrade) is that you can have it on up to three computers at a time! If you go into your Silhouette account (you can access this through the store button in the software), you can find your license keys stored there! Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Michelle! Your mat settings are on the Page Setup panel. I'm not overly familiar with the app because it is so limited, but there should be options for you there. Hope this helps! ---Becky
When you open silhouette the canvas should already be there for you! 😊 On the right hand side you can select which size you want your canvas to be by going to the "Page Setup" panel. 😊
Hello! You will want to click on the line and then when you are in the menu to send the file to be cut, you'll want to click on "no cut" and it will not cut that line! 😊
Don't worry 💜 Here's an easy way to get the ruler back: Open up Silhouette Studio and from the right sidebar open the Page Setup panel. Click the second Grid/Options tab. Here you will find the option to turn on and off the rulers 😉

Hello! 😊 There are a couple reasons your countdown may not be accurate: Blade- The blade might not be installed correctly, or it might not be fully seated and locked into place. If the blade isn't swiveling properly, it can also cause misaligned cuts. Cutting mat- The mat might be dirty, causing paper to slip and not stay in place. An older cutting mat might also not hold material down firmly enough. Cut settings- Cut settings that are too deep or too high can cause inconsistent cuts or misaligned cuts. I recommend checking those things and seeing if it helps! ❤️

I have used cricut for years and am used to the ability to open a png file and cut it. That doesn't seem to be an option with silhouette. I think I am going to need to retrain my brain to be able to use basic functions
There is an automatic function with Silhouette that traces the outside of your PNG for cutting. When you go to cut the PNG do you see an outline around your image?
Hey Lydia! Sorry to hear that you are having problems. The registration marks certainly take a little practice with the lighting and such. If you have problems with the bluetooth, I would reach out to Silhouette America and see if they can help you troubleshoot, just in case the bluetooth adapter in the machine is defective. Did you pick it up? I bought mine in November, tried to start in Jan, got stuck coz it cut real bad. I put it down but am picking up again.

I'd recommend turning the force down a little bit if it is cutting through your vinyl completely. What are your current settings?

Is this because I am using a Cricut or could I have possibly done something incorrect? I am new to the crafting world so any information would be welcomed.

Great video, I have a question for you, for the sizing part I have some words that needs to be 9.5 wide and 6.235 tall but it keeps readjusting the opposite how do you lock it to the measurements you want?
When you click on your design at the top it will show the sizes, there is a little lock button between the sizes, you'll want to click that. 😊
Hi Becky, 1st time to comment here... I watched a lot of your videos for Cameo 4 as well. my wife and I are new to the whole crafting and sublimation realm. My question. Can we get Silhouette Studio to share (2 laptops), or must we purchase upgrades for each? And, do we have to register our machine right away? We have Kittl Pro too. (for DTF and screen printing T's). Right now, she's in SC where the machine is, setting up the new homestead, and I'm in Houston working/getting ready to retire. Thanks for your input and sharing your knowledge!
Hello! You can definitely share with two laptops, many times when you get the key for Silhouette (any edition above basic) you will be informed that the key can work on up to 3 different devices! 😊

Thanks so much for your videos. How did you remove the background from the words. I use Canva to make the design. But it still has a background.
When using canva, you can save as a transparent PNG with no background. 😊

My question is when I design something in Silhouette Studio Does the design I created belong to me or does Silhouette Studio own it? Cricut Design Space owns what you create to my understanding I could be wrong but was told whatever I design they own it.
When you create something in Silhouette it is yours! Unless you have purchased from the Silhouette library as those images do still belong to the copyright holder.

Hi there! If you click Designs at the top of the screen and the select Page Setup, from here you will be able to see the Ruler settings. If the ruler is not blue, it means that it's off. Here you just click on the ruler and you should be able to see it! ❤️ Let us know if you have any questions about this ❤️

@@milypino Hi, this is probably too late now but I've found that depending on the size of your screen the ruler won't show up! If I put the tab on my large screen (anything bigger than 13 inches really) the ruler disappears even if I have 'ruler' ticked on.
I've use cricut design space for about a year finally figured it out but I hate the size limits so I get a camio pro 4 is this simlar to design space? Just wondering trying to get info before camio pro 4 is delivered

The max print and cut size with the Cameo 4 is 144 square inches. but to take full advantage of that size, you must use a wide format printer and 11" x 17" material. Additionally, we recommend looking up a comparison of Silhouette Studio and Cricut Design Space for all details on their similarities and differences 😀
I downloaded the software. I don't get the grid pattern mat, though. I just get what looks like to be a blank piece of paper. How do I get that grid mat with the ruler around the outer edge of the workspace?
When you have your workspace open, go to the top right "Page Setup", at the top of this window there are three different options, you'll want to click the one that looks like a grid, it's called "Grid Settings". 😊 Once you've clicked that setting then you can click "Show Grid" and you will then see the grid mat. ❤️

Hello! 😊 You'll want to install the fonts onto your computer and then if you have silhouette open you'll want to close out completely and then reopen. Your fonts should then be available in Silhouette!
Becky, when I open the silhouette studio those little squares didn't come out. It's only white with a red outline
You will want to go to your page setup and turn on your grid lines if you want the squares! 😊

You cannot, unfortunately in Silhouette's basic version you will need to use the DXF files.

Hey Monique! The great thing about Business Edition (or any upgrade) is that you can have it on up to three computers at a time! Hello! You will want to click on the line and then when you are in the menu to send the file to be cut, you'll want to click on "no cut" and it will not cut that line! 😊

Don't worry 💜 Here's an easy way to get the ruler back:
Open up Silhouette Studio and from the right sidebar open the Page Setup panel. Click the second Grid/Options tab. Here you will find the option to turn on and off the rulers 😉

There are a couple reasons your countdown may not be accurate:
Blade-
The blade might not be installed correctly, or it might not be fully seated and locked into place. If the blade isn't swiveling properly, it can also cause misaligned cuts.
Cutting mat-
The mat might be dirty, causing paper to slip and not stay in place. An older cutting mat might also not hold material down firmly enough.
Cut settings-
Cut settings that are too deep or too high can cause inconsistent cuts or misaligned cuts.
I recommend checking those things and seeing if it helps! ❤️

I have used cricut for years and am used to the ability to open a png file and cut it. That doesn't seem to be an option with silhouette. I think I am going to need to retrain my brain to be able to use basic functions
There is an automatic function with Silhouette that traces the outside of your PNG for cutting. When you go to cut the PNG do you see an outline around your image?
I can’t get mine to hook up blue tooth and get mine to read the registration mark ugh I just go it for my anniversary
