If I overseeded 6 months ago, is it okay to scalp the lawn or is it not mature enough yet?
Ill be doing that to howards front soon and thats 6 month old just take it easy
Question: how many 50L bags of jacks magic or field compost do you think i will need to cover 354sqm?
Id say 35-40
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert that starts to get expensive at £7.99 a bag of Jackmagic.
@@thestaffordshirelawncareco not my fault you take on big lawns, if you buy house with big living room your going to need a bigger carpet which is going to be more expensive, for the lawncare pro’s theres no money in big lawns its your postage stamp 18 quid most charge are you most profitable
@Daniel Hibbert Lawn Expert good analogy, i will bare that in mind. Although that is the total of front and back lawn added together.
@@thestaffordshirelawncareco but the compost isnt expensive its the big area that makes it cost more , i have loads of poor millionaires with big lawns and getting shut of them all as in essence im working for nothing so they can live in a big house n have big cars
Hi Daniel, great video! I've just moved to a new house and a quarter of the lawn is covered in weeds and weed grasses. Should I just scalp and scarify, or dig the whole section out and level it with sand/compost mixture?
New build syndrome, its never gonna come good so just scarifying and scalping will not help will just exacerbate the situation as yoir encouraging the weed grasses to griw more, the latter sounds a better option but you will have two lawns then unless you can get the same seed used by the turf grower
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Nightmare! Probably wont get the same seed. Would wont to avoid re-turfing but I could effectively dig the whole lawn up and start again.
@@BarnzMiSeh yep
Oh no, new build syndrome is real! I've a horrific waterlogged clay soil lawn riddled with weed grasses. I was planning a complete reno this year after watching all your videos 😂
I guess we just try it and see what happens
Why did you stop using the Allett stirling mower ?
Went back was only testing it
Good lawns are like eggs and you have to break them to make a good outcome!
Love the vids keep up the good work 👍 was also wondering could you put a slow release fertiliser under the sheet ?
Nope why would i want to do that
Didn’t know whether or not it would help boost the germination or kill it off 👍
Is the first task the scarifying or a mower set really low ?
What was it in the video?
ive been doing it all wrong ha ha. thanks dan
Hey I’ve stated raking my grass but it’s pretty exhausting , no short cuts lol ?
Nope just gotta get on with it i have 25 yrs under my belt
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert thanks pal , honestly I really liked just getting outside today and started on it , I sit at a desk all week so nice to get started this year. Going to take then air it out and then new grass seed down
@@danbill9165 sounds good , when raking the mind will beat you rather than the fatigue
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert true , I changed my technique so I’m stood a bit taller and changing hands , aiming to give myself 2 weekends
do you come as far as rochdale? ive a got a lawn in need of resurrection!
No mate dont take new work on now no time and if i do its only within bolton
