    Brother you have far more patience than I do. I guess getting old has it's benefits sometimes. I don't even bother listening to people that obviously only half know what they are talking about. You did a great job as usual pointing out scripture. As soon as you start talking about mainstream "Christians" that barely acknowledge there is a front to the bible that explains what they are reading in the back of their bibles we are in for a replacement theology session. I no longer waste my time. I realize you are a pastor and are leading/teaching people so you are in that role of trying to interact with these people. I thank Yah I don't. Yah Bless.

    Wow, you gave a great blind reaction based on holy scripture, well done. I continually felt my blood pressure rising between shock and impatience but also had to catch myself at times from laughing out loud with the weird statements being made, bless him. It was sad to see a brother so entrenched in traditions of men and quoting mainly from the new testament out of context and not from the Torah and of course from his own "blind" ego. Oh dear, may he come to a better understanding and Yah opens his eyes and ears to truth...praise Yahuah.

    Matthew, good stuff. I'm still working through this video. Some points I slightly disagree with, and I'll mention those in another comment, but I wanted to post this while it's fresh on my mind: 1). All three of those pictures he showed are "3rd Century." AD 233 is still 3rd Century. So to say that the AD 233 picture is the "oldest depiction" isn't correct, because technically all three pictures are from the 3rd Century, and the picture on the left clearly depicted Jesus with a beard -- but as you said (and I totally agree) a 3rd-century depiction of Jesus doesn't supersede the clear teaching of the Bible that Jewish men wore beards. Also, he is incorrect on the Council of Nicaea. The debate was on the deity & humanity of Jesus Christ -- NOT the Trinity or baptismal formula. This is a common misunderstanding among many of my Oneness brethren. Trinitarians and Modalists joined together against Arius at Nicaea regarding Christ's deity.

    Preachers like this one have caused so many good Christian men to reject Oneness. They reject beards on men and Biblical headcovering for women. The UPC Churches in my area approve of beards now even on the platform. Some are waking up but much....damage has been done. Im not aware of one....UPC Church that teaches Biblical headcovering.

    Interestingly the LXX Septuagint version of Isaiah 50:6 does not mention a beard at all.
    I gave my back to scourges, and my cheeks to blows; and I turned not away my face from the shame of spitting:
    Also the beard is lacking from the Aramaic text.
    "I gave my back to the smiters and my cheeks to those who slap on the face; I turned not my face from shame and spitting.
    However the refrence re appears in the Dead Sea scroll Text.
    6 I gave my back to those who beat me,
    and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair.
    I didn’t hide turn away my face from shame and spitting."
    Very interesting indeed.

    I Corinthians 11: 14 needs to be taken in its historical context. Since early Christians were a minority group in Greco-Roman culture, Paul didn't want new converts to detract from the gospel message by going against societal norms that distinguished between reputable & disreputable men & women. Of course, if a man was a Roman soldier, he didn't have a beard or long hair because in hand-to-hand combat an enemy could certainly grab hold of long hair or a long beard. Similarly, today's G.I.'s have regulation haircuts & no beards. Bottom Line: Paul wanted men to look masculine, & women to look both modest & feminine. First Century Jews & Jewish Christians would also have agreed with this counsel. That said, throughout history, beards go in & out of fashion. P.S. -- As a 71-year-old woman, I've recently noticed that beards lately seem to be more in vogue than in years past.

    I would agree Yeshuah seemed to have a beard and longer hair. But Joseph "shaved" without any hesitation at Genesis 41:14. He did not give in to Potiphar's wife as he did not want to "sin against Elohim", Genesis 39:9. I should think that if shaving off a beard was going against Elohim he would have had something to say about it as well, no?

    • @emjmnc

      Joseph was most likely made to shave because he was about to go in from of Egypt’s “President.” Egyptian men were known for being clean shaven. At most this would show an exception to the general rule… but yes, shaving is a lesser wrong than committing adultery.

    Wow!! I may be a woman, but I found this video to be quite fascinating. I am going to share this with all my grandsons!!!
    I do have a question for you, Matthew, that is completely off topic. I may have already asked you this, but sometimes my memory does not serve me well. Is it wrong for women to wear pants? I have been told by some that it is and by others that it isn’t. I am 75 years old and quite honestly, I find dresses to be more comfortable, but I do wear pants when I’m working outside in my yard or cleaning out the chicken coop. And on occasion, when I don’t want to be teased by certain people, I’ll wear them in public. But then I feel guilty when I do. So I really need a definite answer. Thank you.

    • @emjmnc
      @emjmnc  3 місяці тому +1

      No ma’am, it’s not a sin for a woman to wear pants… but, pants are an undergarment for both men and women. I cover this in my series on modesty (below). When pants are worn (in public) both sexes should wear a tunic over top.

    You know it doesn’t matter what is out to see, it matter what is inside men for The Father to feel. It’s kinda explained here 👇
    Therefore if the uncircumcision guard the statutes of the Torah, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? ROMAIYM (ROMANS) 2:26 את CEPHER
    And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the Torah, judge you, who with the Scripture and circumcision do transgress the Torah? ROMAIYM (ROMANS) 2:27 את CEPHER
    For he is not a Yahudiy, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: ROMAIYM (ROMANS) 2:28 את CEPHER
    But he is a Yahudiy, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the ruach, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of Elohiym. ROMAIYM (ROMANS) 2:29 את CEPHER

    This is not a "cant please everyone comment," but it is a comment asking for something more truly important and relevant to your views preterism because I know you adopted some of those views 5-6 years ago and I never saw you clarify WHICH laws passed away in the Torah when heaven/earth passed away. I have my rough idea but I want to know where you last landed.

    • @emjmnc
      @emjmnc  3 місяці тому

      I’ve been a partial preterist for longer than that, but… I don’t believe any laws have been abolished. I believe some have been put on hold until the first stage of the kingdom (aka “millennium”) after which heaven and earth passes away. The last time I spoke on Matthew 5:18 in a sermon was a few years back here: ua-cam.com/video/BhNDHxeqzWQ/v-deo.htmlsi=miB5mIzMJg9eHUz2

    • @droptozro
      @droptozro 3 місяці тому

      @@emjmnc does that video explain "on hold" laws because I see none of that language in Scripture. Full preterism holds consistent answers to many of these issues. Hebrews says otherwise historically. Clearly to try to do an actual sin sacrifice would be to reject the Messiah. I just know we jointly went into preterism and it threw a wrench into Torah keeping beliefs. The Messiah at the end of Matthew 24s teaching on judgement of Israel says heaven/earth would pass away in that generation.
      I would like if you can an update on this because textual discussions take so long and you are the reason Torah keeping entered my mind and the same reason preterism somewhat got bolstered back then for me to look into it more. I feel like you left viewers hanging or I missed that video because FP does major damage to Torah advocacy as a whole. In part, no, but whole yes since it would affirm laws have passed.

    Jesus definitely has a beard, and will for eternity, just like His Father.
    He had long hair down to His shoulders, not longer. Jesus did not take a Nazarite vow.
    A Nazarite vow was only valid for 1 year and at the end your had to have the priest shave all your hair off.
    We have no record that Jesus did this sitting His roughly 8-10 year ministry.
    The maximum allowed length of a Hebrew man's hair is the shoulder. No longer. Typically they would grab the back of the hair in a bob if you like, and snipped off that bob. What was left was around shoulder length.
    God is very clear that His sons must have beards and must not shape them in any way. You may only adjust the length, you may not shave off the hair on your neck as is so common.
    As for icons, you cannot trust them, they are fraudulent and break the 2nd commandment.
    There is an icon the orthodox church has which they claim if the very first icon, painted of Mary, by Mark.
    But if you look at it you'll find that, that is style of painting did not exist anywhere prior to 500AD.... It was a style not known of and only invented in 500AD. So the orthodox believe a lie..
    And that applies to all their icons, their martyr stories and traditions.
    I know because I was orthodox for 14 years. Thank God I'm now Torah obedient and following the true path of Christ.

    1) Who says you don't begin with 1Co 11, when it is closest to us in the New Testament period? You think that Paul didn't know of Genesis? Why didn't he refer to it? Why didn't he "start" from Genesis?
    Because HE WAS NOT WRITING TO JEWS!
    2) Lev.19:27 implies they had hair on their head, not long hair.
    3) Your translations are corrupt. 1Co 12 does not say that the long hair of women was given to her as a "covering", that is not the word their in the Greek, it is perivoleo, which was a beautiful veil women worn then in public; so her hair was her glory that she had to cover to honor manhood in the direct Presence of God during prayer and prophecy.
    If the word was covering there it would be a huge and silly contradiction with what Paul says. Btw covering is not the Greek, but the word implies a full head cover, a hypercover so to speak.
    4) No, you don't get to chose a translation of ch.11 so to align with the Torah. Stick to the Greek (I am Greek btw) and it is simply clear.
    Paul in ch.11 calls upon heirarchy, creation, angels, common sense, nature, but nothing about Jews or the OT.
    5) Both men and women of course had hair, but the distinction is that both genders are to be apparently distinct even in their hair wear. The opposite of long hair is short hair and that was how most men at those times had their hair seeing from various depictions.
    6) The concecration would mean that I let go of caring about my looks thus I will not cut my hair. So long hair is again the exception to the rule and it is not glorified, but a sign of self/ego-neglect.
    To be continued...
