    I own 4 50’s Tweeds. That first chord was exactly what I expect to hear from a low wattage tweed.

    Just played one yesterday, and this pedal does not disappoint! It’s versatile too. You can get a pretty wide variety of tones at any volume. The shop had a 5e3 tweed amp, so we cranked it up to compare. The Woodrow was on point with the tweed tone, plus you could get more drive and tones with the pedal. I’m going back today to buy the Woodrow.

    A 55 deluxe Tweed in a box for $400? Sign me the F up! This will go in my Mesa Blue Angel effects loop forever.

    Man, I don’t get all the hate on this video. This pedal sounds great and $400 is not at all overpriced if you’re a single amp kinda guy and value the extra tweakability of a pedal like this.

      yah and $7 a gallon is a fair price for gas

      Yeah, it’s completely worth it, and in fact a great deal for how awesome it is…but if ya’ don’t wanna get it, don’t. And if you don’t own it, you can’t declare it’s overpriced.

    Universal Audio’s Woodrow ’55 perfectly captures the warm, tube-style breakup tones of the king of ’50s tweed amplifiers! This pedal is an authentic, end-to-end emulation of the classic ’50s 1 x 12-inch combo, sporting three different boost types to push the Woodrow ’55 into that throaty growl that defined rock ‘n’ roll overdrive tone for decades. Is this pedal designed specifically for cabs when playing or can you use a combo amp?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 роки тому

      Hi, Joshua. Great question! The pedal is best used when hooked up to a FRFR (full-range full response) or PA speaker, but if you want to use it with a combo amp it is best to plug it into the effects loop using the 4-cable method to bypass the preamp section.
      Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks!

    I like the sound of this one the best so far out of the the three (Woodrow, Ruby, Dream)... Please tell me there is a 4th pedal coming out to do a Marshall!!!

      I asked and universal audio said any future plans are secret but it sounds like they will release a plexi at some point just don’t know when.

    • @taylormesa
      @taylormesa 2 роки тому +1

      I posted the same question on UA’s IG page and they replied “we are just getting started in the pedal game”. So, I would assume a plexi type pedal is on the way at some point.

    Sweetwater, it seems like there is a little bit of "fizz" on the top end always when this pedal drives and you dig in. Is that a characteristic of the pedal emulating the amp, or was the audio clipping when you made the recording?

    • @baseboardmatt
      @baseboardmatt 2 роки тому +14

      That’s what a tweed amp does cranked

  • @TimMilliken

    Sounds awesome! Love the boost sounds and options. Great demo Don. Thanks. Only thing that didn’t impress me was the room emulation. The OX has way better room like convos. Would have liked to see a reverb option instead but it’s a bonus not a detriment as is. I still think the UA 55 Tweed plug-in is maybe the best amp sim ever made so I don’t really need this pedal but it sounds amazing. I’ll probably buy the blackface one.

  • @MusicChannel-rf5zz
    @MusicChannel-rf5zz Рік тому

    Love the tone at 1:35. However I’m not sure if this tone is coming out of the amp it’s plugged into. If I can get the same tone plugged into a PA speaker then the pedal is definitely worth it!

    I wouldn't be surprised if Edge beta tested these algorithms. A tweed deluxe with a blue, and the SDD-3000 preamp? Come on...

    Looks nice…but I think for the money, a HX Stomp does all of this and wayyyy more!

    • @evenstephen2000

      Totally different animals. The stomp does much more, but nothing it does gets this incredible tweed tone. Not even close. That’s not a knock on the stomp, but this thing is infinite levels above in quality for the sound it gets.

      Duly noted 🙄 They’re different. The Iridium is awesome but does not get a Tweed sound at all. Having both would be fun and not redundant.

    Please do a demo for us simple folks that have a guitar, amp, and a few pedals. I think many of us want a pedal that can provide different overdrive tones and rather than buy a bunch of overdrive pedals. I may be able to use the UAFX which is the cost of two crunch pedals.

      Check out the Chase Bliss Preamp Mk2. It’s wicked expensive and I had to sell like 5 pedals to afford it but it can sound like pretty much any overdrive/distortion/fuzz you can imagine. It can even sound like multiple dirt pedals stacked together.

    Is this pedal a better emulation than the UAD Fender '55? Or is it essentially the same thing?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 роки тому +4

      Great question and thanks for your interest! They are very similar conceptually, but the Woodrow is built to have some more nuance with all of the boost options. They can definitely be used for the same effect but the Woodrow is of course designed for a physical pedal board and instrument set up, whereas the plug-in wouldn’t be as easy to integrate outside of the studio.
      I hope this helps!

    Do you think this can do modern metal if I slammed it with TS type pedal or some distortion?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, dewberry! Thanks for you interest. It really depends on the tone you want. Modern metal can cover a lot of ground so you might be able to get what you want, but the Woodrow really has a tweed-like sound and it wouldn't be the typical choice for modern metal. You may end up wanting to apply some EQ or compression to smooth out the top end and tighten up the low end.
      I hope this helps!

    Will it work with a pair of studio headphones plugged into the mono out?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 роки тому +1

      Hi and thanks for your question, hope you’re well and safe.
      When you “Y” the outputs together, there’s enough level to drive a set of headphones. Won’t be a good sonic experience just from one mono out.

    I heard literally nothing tweedy in any of this. ''Response'' is not all there is to an amplifier, you can techo-geek out on the numbers all day but if you can't represent the sag and inflection of an actual 1950s Fender what have you really done? Lovepedal seriously needs to reissue the Les Lius pedal that all of these other companies just keep getting wrong. $400 for a bullseye, maybe. $400 for a throw that hit the pinball machine 10' to the right of the dart board? No. That's just a sad attempt as selling a brand on cultism.

    • @AmiliaCaraMia
      @AmiliaCaraMia Рік тому +5

      Sounds like a tweed mic'd up. Very different if you're used to hearing an amp at a dive bar or in a bedroom. Room sound is way different than close micing. Nice try though with the cultism part. Weird but I enjoy a bit of snark from my UA-cam guitar pro's 👌
