Really? Why is that? I mean it’s replacing an amp and has fx loop - I’d probably go 4 ch method. 9 people have agreed with you - I’m interested to know the thinking behind your idea
@@Arthur_My_Dear What @Trending Tropic said. With an amp you'd prefer having your wet effects in the fx loop, because that puts them AFTER the preamp section, hence the preamp is not altering your wet effects in any way. For the same reason, you'd put your wet effects after an amp sim. Ruby doesn't have an fx loop.
If you need an effects loop, there’s only one option. I prefer the Iridium…but I use a lot of delay and reverb playing live along with multiple gain stages. With that, my Stomp XL is an easy winner.
Why don’t you just put delay etc. after the amp modeller? That’s how Studio effects are often applied (I.e on a recording of a mic’ed cab). An effects loop is important for a real amp to capture the preamp sound in the effects before the power amp goes to the speaker, that’s not relevant in the modeller case as you can just place the delay/reverb in the chain before the mixing desk/monitors.
@@Snowcountry556 I actually tried that - Riverside into the front, Big Sky Timeline after. It didn’t sound good at volume in a live application. As soon as you drive the “amp,” it would get muddy fast. The amp driven plus OD is not the same as OD with the effects in the loop. If I was playing clean, it was fine, but any big songs drenched in reverb and delay was really messy.
Thanks for making this comparison. I think I would dial the treble knob on the Ruby back to at least noon. I think they said they made the treble and bass knobs work in reverse (like the cut), which I wasn't aware that vintage AC30s treble/bass knobs work in reverse. Anyway, seems like a bit too much treble, but either way, helpful to hear the side by side comparison! Thanks!
they all sound great to me. no one would be able to distinguish any of these tones from one another. tell me how does digital sound again versus a real AC30?
@@RJ_HTx Maybe amp in the room vs. a modeler, sure, but I can guarantee that you couldn’t tell the difference between any one of these and a mic’d up AC30.
@@jaredlowry3547 in a full band recording, probably not. Live, I can. The way the high frequency sounds is something I can easily identify. I’ve played by ear for years so I got a pretty developed ear.
How do you like the canva di box? Do you notice a tonal difference? I have an hx stomp and use a Behringer stereo di box to go into the mixer. Would the canvas be better for me?
It just seems to me like these units can only handle the built in dtives. They do not work well with external distortion pedal. They sound very sterile and harsh.
Digital has hit the place where there really isn’t much more to be achieved. It sounds every bit as good as tube amplification and in most case better than the new tube amps. We’re splitting hairs.
play lead through one of these, they are horrible and thin sounding. He is masking all of them with all those foot pedals, but you notice he isn't playing lead lines.
Was thinking the same maybe? Im buying in to the hype of the UA dream 65 (never played it) my Joyo American sound, quilter Superblock and helix all sound different but just as good as each other. Wonder if this new US pedal is all hype and its not going to sound significantly better than these other devices for the reason that they can’t because modulars have reached that level where they sound really close to the actual amp
The new ruby sounds the worst to me - washy, digital. The most direct and usuabale sounds is still the Iridium. But they should have been tested with the same IR!
Wow I didn't expect the Iridium to sound so good !

In a band context no one will know which is which and surely no one will care as long as music is rocking. They all sound great ;-)
You will know... And that makes you play better or not.
nah
no they're not. iridium slaps all.
Friend make that video again with the new updates, I am very curious about the Walrus V2 update, and HX 3.7 update
The Helix sounds like it’s in mono and the others in stereo making it sound more narrow.
i like the strymon the best
ruby sound nice but to bright with overdrive acs and iridium sound great with od compare to ruby
so glad I have my iridium w atomic brain pre :)
I like the Ruby. I'd probably run it before my wet effects though.

@@Arthur_My_Dear i think it has to do with not wanting to overdrive your wet effects.

I know what you mean, but still - there is no fx loop on AC 30 :)
and if Edge is OK with runing everything in front...
I like the helix but also iridium with blue
Thanks for the video!
Ruby sounded the least digital to me 🤷🏻♂️

@@jburdsinfuse Ah I see, yeah overdrive in the loop is different as it is then acting as a preamp so that makes sense, and a nice option to have.

Nice to see your videos again. I also just made a pedalboard video!!!
Acs1 and iridium sound’s good
The Ruby stood out form the rest of you ask me
Could you please make one with dream 65 vs the others?
So sick
Iridium and helix sounds really close
Can’t really hear difference too much, sounds like a lot of wet before. Be nice to hear dry. Interesting comparison vid 👍

No comparison, AC30 has warmth and depth. All of these sound too digital.

Seriously considering selling my hx stomp and getting the ruby...
Thanks for this, lovely comparison. Noob question: what is the blueside?
bluesbreaker style from the protein. green side is nobles odr-1 style
Iridium sounds most on point.
Nice pedalboard! The demo should have included a wider range of sounds and playing styles!
iridium sounds natural
Hey Kevin, are these all stocks IRs except for the Stomp Patch? Interesting man!
It’s the new ac30 tone match patch from worship tutorials! And yes all stock. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Gotta ask! What’s the setting on your Ruby?? It’s glorious

Treble sounds really harsh everywhere. Need to dial that back a bit.
Agreed !!! Those Highs are cracking my teeth!!!
In your opinion, which is better, diso+ stereo or canvas stereo?
Ruby sound best IMO

HX Stomp is the best for the $

I had the iridium. Once I got the Ruby I couldn't get rid of the iridium fast enough.
You know, with all the money you spent on those you could have afforded to get a real Vox. 😂
Damn that's a lot of money spent on fake amps.. Could've had a Ac30 for that $$ 🤣
