I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this series. I try a new hobby and I’m starting the new year off with knitting and this video was so easy to understand and follow along with even for a complete novice like me.
I’ve been crocheting for years. I always wanted to learn to knit, but it seemed extremely difficult. These videos are amazing and I’m actually learning to knit. Thank you!
I started teaching myself to knit from assorted videos in January - piecing bits and bobs together until I figured things out. What's GREAT about this course is its step-by-step progression, its pace, and those wonderful close-ups of what to do with hands and fingers. It makes it so easy to see exactly what's happening and how I can improve. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the videos each morning and looking forward to putting the lessons into practice each evening. Thanks!!
Hi Kristen. Tyvm for making this video 6 years ago. I keep coming back to your beginner and otherwise just about every new project bc I usually have lots of time in between projects, thus, I adore your well organized, clear and concise tutorials!!❤
Great tutorial i learnt to knit when i was a little girl my Nanna taught me. She passed away when i was about 9 and here i am today relearning how to knit to make a blanket for my baby girl when she arrives soon as i'm 35 and a half weeks pregnant on maternity leave. Thank you for your help learning how to knit.
I have been toying with knitting an struggling to learn for awhile. I can crochet like nobody's business but knitting was just harder for me. I want to say thank you for your beginner videos!! I am knitting and keeping great tension!! Thanks so very much.
I’ve watched about 10 videos. And I finally came across you!!!! You are AMAZING!!! Thank you so so much!!!!!!! I got the knit stitch after practicing it 3 times thanks to you
I watched a Hobby Lobby video last night and it got me started but I can honestly say I credit you with my knitting skills I watched your videos today and by the end of the night I was able to knit. Thanks for your videos couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you! Am totally beginner, started from last noon. I was so confused at first but after watching your video about 20 times now i can do a lil which makes me confident to go ahead InShaAllah 🖤
Excellent tutorial! I am left-handed but I find it easier to knit the "right-handed way." Even casting on the "right-handed" way is more comfortable for me. Thanks for sharing.
Three cheers for all the new knitters! Keep practicing! Watch your tension or how tightly you're holding your yarn as you knit. 😉Sometimes if you hold your yarn too tight it makes the stitches too tight and you will have trouble sliding them off your needles. I speak from experience years ago! 🙄 Good luck! Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting! Happy Knitting!
I've mastered crochet, moving on to conquer knitting. Seems like it takes much longer to learn knitting and get your speed up. I'm finding the yarn frays and splits more often. I have no problem with chucky yarn but anything less than a #5 weight seems to split more often. Tension thing? I see there's a video on that, too! Thanks for sharing this with us. You're great at teaching - I appreciate that you go over the same stitch a few times, rather than telling us to just rewind the video.
Ive watched so many of them and never understood where/how to use that second needle. I only watched ur vid once I knew exactly how to do it. And a round of applause to u for talking about how to move onto the next row cause no one else did it. Thxs soooo much
I'm so happy to hear that breaking it down was so helpful to you! I really wanted to help totally new knitters and it is great to know you were helped out! Yay, you!
Although I'm left handed, since most tutorials (Like how to solve a 3x3, now I can solve up to a 5x5) are right handed, so I learn the right handed method. It's actually easy cause you're learning from sctrach! There's nothing in your brain saying to do a different way than what you're used to, cause it's the first time!
Thank you I enjoy your videos very much. Your demonstrations are great and carefully shown. it is great that you repeat the information a few times slowly giving all of us the needed time to learn.
So I got the knit stitch down, I just find the loops getting too tight the farther I get so I can't put my needle through it. How can I prevent that from happening?
I have been knitting ambidextrously (right to left and then left back to the right and so on) and not switching the empty needle back to the right hand. I only just realized that I should or even could just switch the empty needle to my dominant hand. How does not switching the needle back to the right to continually knit right to left affect the project?
Quick question, what yarn do you use in this video? The yarn I used was size 4 worsted cotton, and it doesn’t have near as much elasticity as yours does. 3:
Help!!!! Brilliant video I'm a total novice (and a man) my doctor recommended knitting to keep my fingers moving as I have arthritis in my hands. I've got steps 1,2,3 but step 4 is what I can't get I've looked at others on UA-cam I know there are several different methods of knit stitch American continental I prefer the American method but I can't get past step 3 I can't see where I pick up the new stitch from. I've practiced for days on and off but I just end up with a knot that not a knot and falls off the right needle or I end up with my working yarn at the rear of the the right needle !!! Any suggestions gratefully appreciated-Matt
Hi, Matt - You have a great doctor! Hmmm... if rewatching my videos still isn't helping you to successfully get that stitch knit up, maybe it would be worth it to find a knitter in real life that can sit down with you. I'm sure in 5 minutes time, you'll have your A-HA moment. Try checking out your local yarn store, I'm sure someone would be happy to check out your technique. Good luck!
Well I'm pleased with myself I went to see a friend who used to knit over 40 years ago and within 10 mins of instruction from her I was knitting properly but not only that she taught to me to purl also. At the moment I'm not super fast because of arthritis in my hands but it's quality over quantity 😂😂
I have a question. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but at the end of knitting the first row, and starting on the next, I can't the correct stitch from the slip knot, which is now at the start of my needle. My yarn isn't in the right place, and I can't figure out what I did wrong, if I did something wrong, and it's making me frustrated. Is there a special way you're supposed to knit with the slipknot on the end like that??
Is there a difference in which way that you place the yarn between the needles while making a stitch? I see that you put it behind and around the right needle, and I have just been placing it in between and around the right needle. Is that wrong?
I am a crocheting machine but knitting is harder (for me) but I think its more versatile what you can do with it once you figure it out and train your hands. I've tried once before to learn and gave up but this time I'm determined.
hello, I am a self taught knitter and I have a habit of knitting only in the back loop when I am doing the knit stitch I really can't seem to understand what is the difference between knitting in the front or in the back loop, is there any ?
Thank you so much for your learning to knit vids, I'm doing gish and needed to learn to do something I wish I could do and here I am knitting away so again Thank you 😘 for your easy explanation vids #Gish
My stitches keep multiplying I started with 20 and after a few rows I know I have way more. Am I not starting the new row properly? Is there a video about this? I don't seem to understand the terminology enough to have a text thread fix it...
Hello, im not sure if anyone you would read this being that this video was almost made a year ago, but im struggling with at the end of the row, the last stitch as when I finally add it to my right needle, I get this gapping bit of thread. I tug it but it ends up as two stitches when it only should be one. Please help me out of this situation. Thank you.
So you don't show which end of the yarn is in your index finger and which end is in the pinky and thumb side. Which is the tail and which leads to the ball??
In know this might sound stupid but can Canadians do the American stitch? I know we wear in northern America so can we? Lol it sounds so dumb. Hope in learn something
Deana Faulkner I'm not really sure but it sounds like not enough tension at the edges. When you do the first and last try to get your needles as close together as you can. I hope this helps :)
Deana Faulkner at 5:00 you can see how the left needle is laying directly on top of the right one. That makes the loop(stitch) the perfect size. If your needles are too far apart you'll have a bigger loop(stitch), if that does happen you should be able to just pull the yarn and get a tighter stitch. Just be careful not pull too tight as this can make it harder to knit later on in your piece

What do you guys suggest learning first , knitting or crocheting?
I suggest crochet first. I am a crocheter and It is easier. if you can knit it is alike!!!!!!!!

What do i do if i have to do 90 stiches?
So you don't show which end of the yarn is in your index finger and which end is in the pinky and thumb side. Which is the tail and which leads to the ball??
The initial transfer always untangles and my slip knot comes undone,.... :(
Its a good video but I still can't seem to get it. Maybe I should just stick to crochet.:(
What size needles and yarn
I am very disappointed. I m stuck up here with the left and right needle. The slip knot seems to open. Kindly help..!!
Fantastic...😊
Thanks
is it weird that i'm left handed but the right handed method is easier for me?

Never knew left handed knitting was a thing

When i am using a bigger needle, the end stitches are never as tight (same size) as the middle stitches. What am i doing wrong?
