- Floor Barre is an extremely important conditioning for a dancer. Floor Work helps understand the right alignment of the body, relieving tension and stress on joints due to the absence of gravity, develops the key muscles to use when performing the exercises standing and improves flexibility.
Floor Barre concentrates on toning muscles, lengthening them and improving technique. Floor Barre is very beneficial for anyone that would like to understand how the body should work in ballet when standing in order to make the execution of exercises correctly.

Ahh, Alessia, you never disappoint! Keeping REAL ballet in your workouts is what distinguishes you from all of the "barre poseurs". Although we know that there can be overlap of training from pilates, yoga, yogilates, piyo (I was never sure of the difference between these two cocktails), there are plenty of folks out there teaching such classes (and perhaps you teach those, as well). But so far you are unique in sticking to the Classical vocabulary and keeping it undiluted. This floor barre will be a great warm-up for my regular ballet classes. Thank you, again, for another wonderful- and useful- workout!
Kathleen Heilman agreed. it makes it even better for people that do ballet too. I cringe watching some barre workouts.
Kathleen you are more than welcome, and thank you so very much for the beautiful comment ! I'll definitely stick to the ballet "version", there are so many things that ballet has taught me and I want to share everything I know with all of you. Thank you again for giving me the inspiration to keep on going! Ciao Alessia
Tell me about it Al! ahahahah ! Ciao Alessia :)

I don't do ballet anymore, but I badly sprained my ankle a few weeks ago and these floor barre workouts are actually perfect for exercising and getting my ankle moving again. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I stopped ballet for multiple reasons and I miss it everyday. That was a great way to go back to it!
One of the best floor-barre workouts in UA-cam! Thank you, Alessia!
Another gold medal winner one!! When you are a train at home ballerina, these videos are an absolute lifesaver! Thank you my dear!! XO
Thank you! And well done to you !!!! Bravo! Ciao Alessia :)
This is invaluable! TYSM! Using as physical therapy for a fainting condition that keeps me on my back, but as a former RAD student, still want to move my body. This is perfect! I'll be coming back 💕
I recommend these kind videos for people who suffers from weak joints, like me. Specially in knees, my very old "enemy"…Really helps strengthening!
The other day I was just scrolling down your videos looking for floor barre work. It's like you read my mind but at the same time you exceed my expectations! Thank you so much!
Evangelina! I did read into your mind!!! just kidding! So pleased you are enjoying the Videos! Ciao Alessia :)
Just did your ballet barre for the first time. FAB! Did ballet (for fun) many years ago for a long time, and have the knees to prove it. This was fabulous as I was able to do all the old moves (with correct terminology) that I can no longer do standing. Thanks so much
Thank you so much for this. What a beautiful workout!
Absolutely full of energy! I love it!!! What a ballet instructor you are Alessia. Congrats!!!
I am a 54-year-old Korean woman who began to like the fitness through jazz dance. Unfortunately I had my foot and ankle broken during the dancing class 3 months ago. My left leg had been clad with the full leg castor for 10 weeks and now I am off the castor and trying to walk again.
I found your channel by chance and followed some exercises, when my castor was removed. At first it was extremely hard and awkward for me to do them right because of my stiff and swollen left leg. For the first week I only could do a couple of floor workouts. And now I added some barre workouts, since I can stand on my feet now.
My foot is still aching and the healing is very sluggish. But I can feel the progress, which keeps me working on.
I like your way of explaining and presenting the poses. They are easy to follow yet physically challenging.
Thank you for making these helpful lessons.
I'm so happy to hear you are recovering! Always take your time and if it hurts stop until you are ready to start again. Rehabing is a long process but if you continue the right way, your poor ankle and foot will recover well:) Keep up the great work and I wish you all the best! Lots of Love Alessia :)
Thank you! I haven’t been in a dance class in so long and I’m in ED recovery trying to stay healthy
Thank you so much, this is just what I needed to redefine my technique
This is my favorite of your workouts! It's so great for hip and knee joint relief and wonderful alignment practice without gravity's sometimes mean hand!
I'm so pleased you like this one!! I will definitely do more! Keep up the great work! Ciao Alessia :)
Once again - love the floor work so much! Thanks for all you do for us Alessia!
Oh I meant this comment for the floor abs you posted today :)
I'm so happy you enjoyed it !!! Thank you Kelly! :D:D:D Ciao Alessia
Thank you! I am so grateful for your You Tube channel. I can't make it to dance class more than once per week. This helps me stay in dance condition between classes. I have been trolling You Tube for quite a while to find videos like yours. I love the floor barre. More of these please.
I'm so pleased I can keep you busy dancing at home Lesley! I will certainly do more of these! Ciao Alessia :)
I'm so glad I came across your channel!! Please can we have more of these ballet infused floor barre classes! They are so had to find on UA-cam! X
wooohooo! I'm plannng more!!! Stay tuned!! Love alessia :D
Thank you...by far the best floor barre I have done! Please make a second edition!

Welcome to the Lazy Dancer Family Marquise! The cats say Meow and give you kisses back! Ciao from London :) Alessia
recently my classes have gone from 1 hour to 2.5 even 3 hours and we have time for floor barre. I'm SO thankful for videos like this to help me refresh as we can finally incorporate some floor barre into our classes!
Well done Crystal! Keep up the brilliant work and keep on dancing! Love Alessia :)
Estava procurando uma aula de balé que pudesse fazer em casa e me encantei com sua aula. Vou procurar fazer pelo menos duas vezes por semana e espero que você continue postando. Obrigada. Sua aluna brasileira.😘
Luciana! I will definitely keep posting and keep you working from the comfort of your home! I Promise ! Ciao Alessia :)
Thanks
This is exactly what I was looking for! You are fantastic Alexia! Thank you for your wonderful workouts.
Silvana
Thank you !!! :D
Awesome! Around 21m in it got REAL and I could not keep up. Very fun!
I was calling you a psycho while I was doing the beats on my stomach and then you said “don’t hate me” and I just collapsed and bursted out laughing, anyway this is really helpful my ballet classes are starting back soon from summer break so this was really useful as I haven’t danced in like 2-3 months
Love love love this exercise(as much as the other ones but this is especially gorgeous)! Please keep up the spirit! :D
Thank you Seung! Glad you are having fun! I will keep you busy dancing, don't you worry! Ciao Alessia
Justo lo que estaba buscando! Después de 6 años retomé ballet y necesito trabajar en casa en adición a las clases semanales because i'm so out of shape! Muchas Gracias desde Argentina! Por tu simpatía, energía positiva y clases muy útiles!
Paula Muchas gracias! y brava para bailar de nuevo!!! Bacioni Alessia 😘💃
Another great video, Alessia! And I love your hair colour! I was wondering if you could give some good tips for alignment, especially concerning sway back. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us! You really helped me!
Thank you Ralitsa! Gradually getting back to my natural blonde!
Sway Back has always been my thing too, having a scoliosis doesn't help either! Trying to mobilise your back in a curl forward has helped me a lot. Control of your core is crucial for a good posture. Try these and let me know how it goes!
lazydancertips.com/ballet-fitness-programs/mobilize-your-back-in-5-days/
Ciao Alessia :)
Oh, thank you so much, Alessia! I'll definitely do them. I do Callanetics and the accent there is always on the lower back/pelvis curled sort of under towards the front and knees bent. I just don't like the constant bent knees part. And you don't seem to have any problem with your back, it's really straight, lengthy and beautifully flat! I guess that a lot of work stands behind that. Thank you for the advice again! Keep up the wonderful work. I really enjoy everything you post and I am so happy I found you here. Can't wait to one of your workshops! Rali
Very useful! Love this floor barre, in a situation like the one that we are experiencing on those days, video like these can help us exercise at home and keep training, so thank you ♥️😘
OMG yes!! More floor barre!!!!
Yey! More on the way Kanysha! Ciao Alessia :D
very cool! I have been doing your turns exercises and barre for turnout a lot in the last 2 weeks, since I was in India and could not take ballet class. It's so great these exercises can be done in any hotel room!
Whooohooo! Brilliant! So pleased i can keep you dancing even in a small hotel room! Ciao Alessia :)
Took one of your classes. I love the name. So clever and funny. Great videos!
This was great, & very different from other floor barres that I've done. And not too long. :)
I love this video!
Again and again... My muscles have a question? When an other Barre floor video to practice during the confinement? 😇
Thanks for all.
Hi! I just wanted to tell you that I take two live classes per week and try to do this floor barre to help with my placements! Thank you for this video.
Hi Paula! Well done to you and keep up the brilliant work you are doing! Love Alessia :)
Yess, absolutely love this! Thank you 😊💕
Wooohoooo! You are welcome! :D Ciao Alessia
When I was doing this video my baby bunny got very confused and he hopped up and sat on my chest. I can only imagine he was thinking "hello good morning hooman what is you doing you should be paying attention to me"
Cuuuuute Bunny!!! and very NOT helpful like my cats I have to say! Cuuuute Bunny!!!! Lots of love to you hooman, 😻 Alessia
I was searching a floor barre for weeks so I was so excited when I see you udpate this video. I really like this workout, requires a lot mor flexibility (especially for the hips) than it looks :)
Noems Thank you for your sweet message! Don't worry about flexibility it will come eventually! Keep up the great work! Ciao Alessia :)
First time I've ever seen a UA-cam video with no dislikes. Good job :))

I would love to see this same workout at half the speed, for those of us working on our control! Do you have a slower one? Great sequence.
Yes there is another floor barre, much slower but much harder! Give it a go and let me know how itgoes! LOve Alessia :D
So thought this is nice and gentle I'll do it twice just for practice -- the next morning argh ouch. Hope you and your man Margot and Watson have a lovely Easter. Take care

Hi, Alessia! I'm trying to get back into ballet(not full time) after leaving it for a while. I was wondering where I should start. I'm trying to see it I can still implement pilates in with it and how i can do that. A lot is appreciated. Thank you and wonderful video! Ciao! ❤❤❤❤
Hello! Glad you are getting back into ballet, Bravo! If you are interested I have set up some workout place to follow along. You can chose when to do the videos throughout the day depending on how much time you have available. Have a look here lazydancertips.com/ballet-fitness-programs/
Probably to start, i'd go for the back mobiliser one, it has a selection of barres and warm up exercises, perfect to begin the journey.
Let me know how it goes! Ciao Alessia :)
Alessia, thank you for this great video! Your videos are helping me to reach the goal - I'm a contemporary dancer, but I'm in love with ballet and I want to dance it professionaly. So I can study more about my body's muscle work actually in ballet, what is wery important before I'll start doing full ballet barre. I've been dancing for a long time, I have nice flexibility, but I have an awful (very awful...) turnout. And I know, without turnout you can't dance ballet. So I'm really looking forward forthe video, where you will show how to improve turnout. Are you planing a video about it? :)
Hi Ivona ! Well done on working your ballet skills as much as possible! Your turnout will also improve the more you practice. I have few turnout videos that you might find useful as well as ballet technique in general. Here you are the link to the page lazydancertips.com/category/ballet-technique/
All the best, Ciao Alessia :)
Hi, great demo! How could we prepare the floor for the barre floor as it’s not possible to be done on the carpet..are there any specific slippery mats for that?
This was so hard but worth it!! Thank you:)
You did it! Bravo !!! :D
Utilissimo!! Grazie Alessia!
Di Niente Francesca! :D Ciao Ale
How are you talking during the scissors?! But love this workout
Outstanding workout. Thanks
I'm so pleased you enjoyed it Mercedes! Thank you ! Ciao Alessia :)
Thanks Alessia !
You are more than welcome Lisa :)
I love these videos :)
Thanks for the video! Ah, and since , if I remember correctly, you wanted me to update you on my progress on dancing. I'm about 89-90% at mastering my pirouettes. I'm working on my a la secondes now. Do you have any tips on spotting? I have a hard time doing doubles and more because it's hard to keep spotting.
90% is fantastic!! yeeeeey!!! Spotting is a wild beast. just kidding! You will get used to it and keep your chin perfectly at 90 degrees, the moment you do weird movements, or even just small tilts, with your head, it throws the whole balance off. Listen to the rhythm of the music, it will tell you when and how to spot. Remember that different musics and tempos give different qualities to the turns. :) Ciao Alessia
Something about youre voice is annoying yet calming... Love it ;)
I listen to it a lot.. keep posting would you...
I find my voice annoying too don't worry! more videos on the way for sure! ahah Lots of love Ciao Alessia :D
Hello Alessia, do you think I can put a rolled towel under my neck when doing those exercises ?
Thank you so much for this lesson. I search for a long time a good work like this one.
My One little regret, is classical music ;-)
Omg what a voice.
My favourite workout)
Hey! I have very important question for myself! Through all of these moves, should we make our belly keep with the floor and use our abs or it should get up and down with the poses? Couple of these leg moves sometimes upper my body since l got long legs l wonder would that someway hurt the back of the belly. Thanks a lot already:)
Me encanta, sigue así veras que iras creciendo. Quisiera que nos enseñaras a realizar un fouette también quisiera que hicieras un vídeo en donde tu bailes. Saludos desde Guatemala
Att: Lourdes Duarte
I Will ! For sure ! :D Ciao Alessia :D
I loved it!

Try them tomorrow
Well Done!
Thank you Claudia! :D Ciao Alessia :)
you re great thank you
Is that a South African accent?
Can you do a pointe workout please ? :)
soon for sure! :)
I see this is an old video but I'll comment anyway:- when I was young one summer I did with a friend floor bar every day. My back pain was gone, and my movements became different. BUT it can also be dangerous, since once I hurt my lower back is sitting posture. But the professional dancer may not understand the risks since they trained their body since childhood. This excercise is the base for the " core, " now called, which is nonsense. The real core is floor bar.
Good workout. where is your cat?
He couldn't be bothered to show up that day! He was snoring in the other room! :D
The excercises are great, but it's like hearing janice from friends all the time.
Do more floor Berra videos
I mean barre videos
Oh my Gosh!😅
Being killed and spend rest of my day as a zombie but tomorrow I am going to wake up more beautiful than today and be prepared for more exercises.
Veronika I'm proud of you! That's the spirit! Bravo! ciao Alessia :)

Sorry I misspelled your name, you have an Italian spelling, Alessia!
Però il tuo British Accent stupendo mi aveva tradita davvero
🌷❤😊😙😍
SO........ I'm the only one who couldn't half the moves she was doing
I have a few problems with this video. First of all the channel name; this has made me avoid these videos several times, as they come off as sluggish and childish, and it frustrates me, as you cannot be lazy if you wish to succeed as a dancer. Secondly, it goes a bit fast for me, but that can of course just be me being slow. Also I think you should explain exactly what you are doing when you are doing it, because it is hard to follow along if you do not.
Lastly I will say the class itself is good.
imho i find the name whimsical, and when you look at the thumbnail photos you can see alessia (sp?) is providing valuable, active instruction! i definitely need to work up to her speed too.
Hello Leah, thank you for your message! 🙂 As you might have gathered the name of the channel is very sarcastic, of course there is nothing Lazy about ballet as it's a very hard discipline, but also "Lazy" is a way to say that you can do the exercises from the comfort of your home, which for some "lazy" people is very handy so they won't have to leave their home to workout. I always take the fun side of life, ballet is such a meticolous and strict discipline that sometimes scares people away, thinking they cannot enjoy it and dance from their heart even if they are amaturs. If you think about it, as dancers we "play" with costumes, characters, love stories, dramas, and comedy, we constantly pretend to be someone else, we litterally play dress ups, and I always say that if we don't take the funny side of what we do it all becomes a bit too serius for my taste. 🙂 And above all, we dance for ourselves, for our own good, for our own enjoyment.
I know sometimes I don't explain or say many things during the exerscise, I only give you the key points(otherwise I forget what I'm doing 🙃 ) and I do prefer to show steps correctly, therfore young dancers have the correct version of the exercise and they can watch it over and over to learn properly. Every video is different, there are some advanced ones and beginners ones, all tailored to different levels for both young professionals, amatures and fitness people. This video in particular was requested by a young ballet student that wanted a floor barre therefore it is a bit quick pace for anyone that is just starting out. I really am doing my best to keep everyone happy and busy dancing, as this is the point of the channel. Dancing for the love of dancing :) If you have any requests I would be more than happy to specifically adress videos and tailor them to your needs, I'm always here to help out and answer any questions. I'm sure this video will become easier and easier the more you do it. It only takes time and patience! Love Alessia
Thank you Jennifer 😙
What an annoying squeaky voice... but nice workout
I did this floor barre twice. The first time was fine, as I was discovering the exercises (that are totally okay) as well as Alessia and kept concentrated. The second time was too much, I just can't stand the way she talks, I think she sounds super ridiculous, she slows your rythm down and doesn't motivate you at all but is annoying. Bye bye Alessia !
Hi Julien, unfortunately not every student is made for every teacher and viceversa. As you know around the net not everyone is a professional like you and sometimes the pace of exercises need to be slow and accessible to anyone, and especially guiding them through the exercises without them getting hurt. You know your body well and what you need, but many people here don't, they are new to this kind of work. Sorry to hear this wasn't right for you, but i'm sure in your career you'll find the right path and teachers that will guide you the way you want/need. I wish you all the best and good luck with your dance journey. Love Alessia
