When casters talk about a wall in sc2, they might mention the building being used, or the tight timing with which the structure was placed. Scarcely is there discussion to be had about the ideas behind the placement. This is granular to Brood War but it is of course helped by the deep pool of strange maps as well. As a toss, it is both baffling and interesting how many different wall-ins I'll see throughout any given tournament, with players approaching the maps differently, and also affected by how each player may want to approach the overall matchup. I remember when Invader was in tournaments and on ladder, I had a hard time making a satisfying wall against lings for that map. Then, watching the tournaments, I saw vastly different approaches among the pros, and none of them were the same as whatever I had ended up doing at the time. You can reasonably discern their different thoughts when you look at their setup, so I'd staunchly agree with you Arty that "more is more" in this case. Maybe some people prioritize being able to "learn to play the game quickly" over being able to "learn the game forever". Brood War does such a good job of the latter even when you remove the execution aspect from it. Kind of insane. Thanks for the casts Arty :)
XD, i'm listening while working, i turned my head going WTH, was arty strapped naked to a chair and somebody was scratching his ballz in an abandoned ship?
Someday RT you need to make an in-depth, 2 hour long video detailing everything there is know about how the 3 races wall across various maps and the logic behind the decision making.
Artosis bro , thanks for these games it is comforting to listen and watch these games ... literally takes you into outer space man ...into the future ...
Dewalt is really impressing me with the quality of his play though. I agree Yoon is favored but Dewalt has just been so fun to watch that I'm really rooting for him.
crazy to think that they would balance an OP ability or unit with another to counter instead of nerfing as they do now, really made this game exciting.
This game was balanced by dice rolls, it just happens to be broken in the exact right ways to counter the other ways it's broken. I absolutely love it, mind, but the devs did not set out to make a game that could withstand 26 years of nerd-hours put into trying to win it.
It seemed like Dewalt waited too long to expand. If he'd had more income earlier, I think he could have held. He spent too much army early on and denied himself the expand.
@ArtosisCasts You should check out the ASL-GSL collab event that puts BW units, buildings & tech on SC2 and playing against their "modern" counterparts. Edit : It's an SC2 mod.
Sc2 walling is definitely better. You actually know when something is a wall, but you also have gaps that some units can't fit through. Think of one hex gaps for protoss that archons get stuck behind
Thing DeWalt ideas were pretty good. Also Yoon kind of a genius fake drop. maybe if zerg let protoss breath. A fleet because and just pop overlords with fast beefy scputs
Personally, I didn't like that Dewalt stopped making probes so early at around 28-33 he really slowed down production. For a Nexus first this didn't make sense to me...keep in mind I'm a complete noob at this game and basically only watch but I prefer styles like Mihu that never fails to continuously make workers until approximately the number desired is reached unless there is a very specific reason for the cut(s).
I think skill expression is good but not if it introduces RNG in terms of spawn locations. If a spawn location is worse than another then I'd rather have all buildings line up symmetrically (or at least let one rotate them) to avoid that problem.
Which wall-ins block and which ones don't is a retarded mess. That is all. Oh, and a piece of trivia: It's not just that different looking setups are differently tight -- different setups discriminate between different units. I believe it's pylon with core above it and depot with e-bay above it which let thru a zealot, but not a ling.
Maybe I’m the only one here that wants this but, I think it would be cool if we got some team games? 2v2’s I think would be nice. If I’m the only one on this island oh well :p
What's the lore on Arty meeting his wife? Odd question, but, there was a video I watched where he talked about having kids in Korea. So was this Canadian (who stole our man from us) in Korea? What are the odds of that? Being an e-sports master, it's odd to think about the opportunity to meet women, particularly western women. Love the CNSL coverage, btw.
This recent ASL iand this overall false idea that Protoss is overpowered and Starcraft Brood War has me really turned off lately. Protoss is clearly the worse race by far. Yeah Mini, Snow, and Bisu didnt win ASL. But they are the 3 most talented players none-the-less.

Someday RT you need to make an in-depth, 2 hour long video detailing everything there is know about how the 3 races wall across various maps and the logic behind the decision making.
I would actually like to see such a video.
Artosis, this would be super interesting to see.
Massive attack?? Great band❤ love ya arty!!! Ty!!
Artosis bro , thanks for these games it is comforting to listen and watch these games ... literally takes you into outer space man ...into the future ...
Cabt wait to watch Artosis cast the new Bw vs Sc2 mod!
That fake drop plus holding back Hydras for after storm energy was genius
The way buildings can be positioned is nice because it adds a layer of expertise
Thank you for these amazing casts Artosis.
i'm getting shorted with these 17 minute videos RT, i need MOAR
dewhitetrash so bad he make demudslim look gud
Dewalt is really impressing me with the quality of his play though. I agree Yoon is favored but Dewalt has just been so fun to watch that I'm really rooting for him.

Forceful war
dewhitetrash so bad he make demudslim look gud
Came from the GSL straight here
I did it! I finally caught up with CNSL :D
I like that the matches are split into several videos.
crazy to think that they would balance an OP ability or unit with another to counter instead of nerfing as they do now, really made this game exciting.
Game has not gotten a balance update in nearly 2 decades
This game was balanced by dice rolls, it just happens to be broken in the exact right ways to counter the other ways it's broken. I absolutely love it, mind, but the devs did not set out to make a game that could withstand 26 years of nerd-hours put into trying to win it.
Loving the casts!!!
Honestly I also don't want CSNL to end, these games have been super enjoyable to watch.
It seemed like Dewalt waited too long to expand. If he'd had more income earlier, I think he could have held. He spent too much army early on and denied himself the expand.
dewhitetrash so bad he make demudslim look gud
Dewalt inability to be decisive make him enemy to himself
11:54 The word is "versus," not "verse."
teardrop
Herculaneum
12:08 AYE! Would be pirate RT 😂
Plum color looks pretty sick on Zerg.
TY RT

Is there a video of that? That sounds wild
@@miramosa7768Look up Winter, he has two video casts.
i mean either that or just stick with the good, real thing
SC2 is dogshit compared to Brood War. The two games dont belong in the same sentence.
4:50 That's the reason I love playing SC2 casual multiplayer and singleplayer, but prefer watching SC1 for competitive play.
Dewalt FIGHTING!
Much more engagement
Sc2 walling is definitely better. You actually know when something is a wall, but you also have gaps that some units can't fit through. Think of one hex gaps for protoss that archons get stuck behind
SC2 was designed with walling in mind, while it was more of an emergent gameplay thing in 1998.
Committed to the comments!
the nuance of BW walling is a cool feature and I enjoy it as a spectator
Thing DeWalt ideas were pretty good. Also Yoon kind of a genius fake drop. maybe if zerg let protoss breath. A fleet because and just pop overlords with fast beefy scputs
Proper wall-ins and cannon placement aren't annoying they are nuanced.
Spoiler filler:

All hail the algorithm
My god hydras just melt goons.

lets go dewalt
The word you're looking for Artosis is "Player Agency" and "skill cap".
Which wall-ins block and which ones don't is a retarded mess. That is all.

I second that

I'm rooting for Dwight

Nice, new vid, me like!
broodwar is flawed and that makes the game best rts ever made

you've never talked to a woman in your life, have you?
cool beans

.
Sack
fake drop!
There are a lot of things that make Brood War great. Esoteric and nonsensical walling rules are not on the list
