- Hey guys today we look at how I go through checking my piston clearances on a motorized bike and also some tips on general engine knowledge. Sorry for the lack of uploads just been super busy with the saw build and doing other odds and ends. But expect a normal upload schedule from now on. @@keeganhache6667 yeah I know what you mean, I love working on the bikes that’s my favorite part and I ride the bike because it’s in the Cesery most of the time and I enjoy doing the videos and editing them but that is 100% the least of fun things I do I enjoy sharing it with the community and all that goes along with it but it is definitely the last thing I think of unfortunately, sometimes I get laid behind on editing videos on speakerphone just because I like working with Bikes a lot more and building motors a lot more lol.
@@JMB676 for me it was just missing talking about motors on camera to help the community because my dad always said that when I work on my side of the garage I would talk to myself about what I was working on. Hense why I started this UA-cam channel way back in 2020.

C clips and they come in .8 -1.0 thickness weisco is the strongest ones and you need a relief Dremeled to get them out all the other ones fail from loosing the tension from the rpms
Weisco has been making engine parts for,.... all my old ass life. Pistons and internal automotive and motorcycle
How did you make that header?
Mostly trial and error just took a bunch of old headers from rock pipes and made it work. I had to cut one at a 45 degree angle so it would clear the pedals.

@@keeganhache6667 it happens what ya know about port timing?
Don’t forget port angle matters steeper port angles aimed at top of cylinder help higjer rpm power while lower angles help bottom end power (torque) although both are torque lol just rpm it hits differs but for higher rpm performance engines ya may want to angle them toward the roof try to get em to form a ramp of air that pushes to the intake side roof of cylinder head. And a boost port from intake to at or just below transfer line helps low end rpm without losing high end rpm power.

Is it recommended to replace piston rings once the cylinder is removed? I removed the cylinder for inspection after last summers run, and now it just sputters half way into acceleration. It used to pull strong and run fine but not anymore. It is a G4 type cylinder I got last year.
Well just taking of the cylinder can bring in tons of issues when it comes to the tune of the bike. If you didn’t touch the port work I’m betting on a base, or head gasket not sealing correctly. Or the carb could not be bolted down right and that will cause a air leak and that will create a lean sputter when on the throttle. Also to inspect the cylinder you only have to remove the cylinder head. Hope this helps
@@keeganhache6667 Yea, I didn't do port work really except hand file a few rough edges that I should have done the first time. This is my first engine, Bike Berry's stage 4 that has seemed to be one of the lucky ones considering mixed reviews. I opened up the exhaust gasket to match the exhaust port in the process for a smoother flow as it originally blocked some of the port opening. I was in the process of removing the intake manifold but noticed the gasket started to peel so never fully pulled it off, will replace now. Head gasket is copper and I annealed it before putting it back on. Base gasket didn't look damaged, but its original from the kit so probably best to just replace. I thought I read on a forum someone recommend to replace piston rings as these cylinders are not perfectly cylindrical and the rings form to that shape, and will cause blowby if reinstalled. I appreciate your response though and will replace some gaskets.

No dude, those pins cannot cross any port , this is why you can’t hog out the transfers, or intake. Also the charge coming in cool’s it and puts pressure on the ring’s
