Well, it's four years later and I still love this to death. Congratulations on your success F&F, and thank you for all the wonderful music.
Her voice is pure music; nothing more, nothing less. No vocal "gymnastics", no overselling, no over-driving. Just pure crystal clear music. I would listen to anything she sang.
"No vocal "gymnastics", no overselling, no over-driving."
Yes...that's what drove me when I first stumbled onto F&F. It was the outdoors version of the Supremes "Can't Hurry Love". To see a young person with a powerful voice avoid the agonising melisma that plagues so many these was so refreshing.
Me too ! :-)
Poised.
So true
chaspfrank, eddie willers,
Exactly!
I believe Mariah Carey gets the "credit" for starting that fad of "vocal gymnastics" that has influenced more than a generation of young singers. It was a real shame IMO because her voice was good enough at the time that she did not need to do that to be impressive.
I guess these young women are more confident about how good they are. Instead of using the song to show off their voices, they use their voices to show off the song. Much nicer to listen to that way, I think.
The only thing missing from this video is a crowd of 10,000 on their feet giving this group a standing ovation at the end of the song. This is as perfect as perfect can get.
Absolutely!
As this was the first song posted after they reunited to start recording again, and the return of Maggie after 5 years, there may well have been 10,000 fans standing and applauding when it came up on UA-cam, just not in one place . 100,000 views in 3 days.
Maggs for sure! and the mixing is outstanding? Rich full sound! Thanks X 10 !
That is true words. Cheers Cape Town 🇿🇦🇿🇦👌
@@lynwessel2471 I was DEFINITELY one of them, Lyn!!!
After watching the live video tonight and this song was mentioned I had to come back and listen. I did NOT remember having been here 2 years ago and before that 3 years ago. AWESOME!
This girl has the voice of an angel
She is an angel!😇
Her and sammy are truly special ♡♡
100%
Yes. I haven't seen it on an oscilloscope, but I really think her voice is pure - i.e., with no harmonics, just as you find in classically trained operatic sopranos. That feature is what makes them practically indistinguishable, meaning that it's very difficult or impossible to tell which one is singing when listening to recordings because it's the harmonics that make singing voices (in us mortals) recognizable and distinguishable from each other. I don't know if she can hit a C6, but if she could, I suspect that she could even have another career.
@@Buddy308I’d say Karen Carpenter and Linda Ronstadt has those rare and pure voices too. They don’t come along often.
Maggie’s baaaack!!!!!! I’m 67 and jumping around like I’m 17. So happy to see the gang back together. I feel young again!
“...I feel young again...” or ‘l feel Neil Young again’!

@@lavmi79 You must be so proud, and rightly so - congratulations!
Looks like all us old guys are having a reunion on this thread. Maybe they make us feel young again. Whatever it is, keep it up. The sound is unbeatable. Tim, if you read these, I don't see enough credit going your way. The recording, the video, the arrangements, all outstanding.
atta boy! George 68 old dude here, and when I saw the release date (Oct 16th) I said did I see that right ? I DID !!!!!!!! I'm throwing out my Viagra
I'm a 68 year old youngster that has heard so many great songs hundreds of times. I've come to a point whereby, these days, I tune those songs out. The fact that those same songs may be so beautifully resurrected and remastered that I now do a double-take when first hearing them is a true joy.
How am I just finding this?!?! Cover of all covers!!!!!

Please Maggie, no matter what you do in life, please don't stop singing. You bring so much pleasure to so many. Your voice is an escape from current circumstances. We hear peace and joy, pure relaxation, whatever it's called, it is your voice. A gift. Keep using it.
You've expressed so well the sentiments of countless thousands of Maggie fans around the world!
You’re so right. Maggie has the most exquisite voice. She, together with the two other girls and the mature gentlemen, are consummate musicians. I discovered this band during these troubled times, and they have given me so much joy and pleasure. Thanks and love from the UK
I agree.
For real, Ive been se sad and depressed with whats been happening this brings tears to my eyes and have some sort of faith things will be restored, hopefully sometime soon.
@@matthewk951 wow doom and gloom! its all a mental state! I'm doing great and enjoying everyday i have here on earth! this band is awesome for a cover band.
they need their own material to break out!! but hey as long as they are happy!! great job
It’s like hugging an old friend... Welcome back, you all were missed beyond measure.
Ditto big time for right now. We can all use this.
We all agree that your rendition improved on the original!
I’ve listened to this a hundred times, it NEVER gets old!
Same! 👍
Just like my comment 4 years ago - absolutely astounding! Maggie has a magic voice.
I'm a grown ass 61 year old man sitting here weeping like a child. This is absolutely beautiful. Stirs me right down in my soul.
nothing wrong with that ,just a brilliant cover.
76 yr old woman here also very affected, always loved Neil’s classic, these guys nail it.
Amen to that, brother. Just a beautiful work of vocal art. Almost like God himself had a hand in it.
Me too dude, same thing, I'm a 70 yr old man, tears streaming down my face
She really does have the voice of an angel :)
The best version I have ever heard of this song. She has a beautiful voice. The entire group is amazing.
Now they irny
Aj Lee with Brothers Comotose has a lovely version too. This one is so sweet
Who needs the egotistical super stars to entertain us when you have folks like this. Vocals were beyond beautiful. Don’t know who she is, but she certainly can sing ! What a sweet tone. Would love to hear her and AJ Lee do a duet with this number. Both are magical vocalist.
Maggie Adams, Nashville TN. About 80 excellent covers on this channel, she sings in most of them. Beautiful alto harmony when not on lead.
No, you just need those with 'super' abilities to create the song, including the melody, lyrics and arrangements so that others can perform them.
Back again for the 100th time. Love this. Maggies voice is so warm.
It’s rare to find a source of cover songs that consistently surpass the originals in production quality. You guys are the cat’s meow!
the thing about Maggie is she never "over sings" any part of the song......she is really in it..... I love it....
And she makes it seem so easy and natural. Not many artists can do that
These guys' performance should be FDA approved for treating anxiety, stress and depression.
So true
Lolol
Absolutely...couldn't agree more.
That is said so perfectly
Yes, this.
Who needs “celebrity stars” when we have bands who are way better? These people are brilliant, and the lead singer’s voice is as mentioned above, pure.
Thats Magg's Maggie , she can sing any song, fast, slow, Up , Down, from high school already a professional! ! We are all stumped .. if there is any song she can't sing better?? Write in and ask her, because so far . . .
The singing, harmonies, and musicianship is fantastic, really beautiful. But until they WRITE 60 or 70 or 200 brilliant songs over about 60 years we will still need "stars" like Neil Young

I hope they have autotune on the recording software, she's missing notes all over the place.

@ Dave Rice - hahaha, that compliment came from way out of left field.
I'll keep on commenting once a year, this is seriously fantastic. It must be so awesome to have a family and circle that all loves to play music like that. All of your voices are so good too. So good.
This has to be one of the best renditions of "harvest moon" that I've ever heard.
Agree
Better than the original, in my opinion. I can't listen to Young's thin, nasally vocals for more than a minute.
Exquisite
Jeeze the man wrote the song. Maybe a little respect is due.
@@Ron898 Young's vocals are an acquired taste that I have never acquired. In my opinion, he needs to have a vocalist sing his songs for him. Because the caterwauling thing gets really really old.
Maggie’s voice is just incredibly smooth and soothing. Karen Carpenter had the same quality in her voice.
I remember thinking the same thing...which would be the ultimate complement.
Great observation
Yes, Karen Carpenter for sure. Also, a mellow Linda Ronstadt, too.
Karen
I’ve been asking for a Karen Carpenter cover by Maggie for years. Someday we will get one.
Wow. I have no words....this young lady blows me away with her voice. So beautiful.
You perhaps sound a bit new to F&F. If so, be sure to go through the channel/website and look over the many other treasures they have spun up over the last many years. And be sure to look for Midnight Train to GA, and the sweet comment and photographer at the end.
@@jamesottaway3212 Thanks! I will. Do they travel to play?
@@conuregirl007 They have not had a live performance in several years, largely because the girls/foxes are in different states with their schooling or jobs. But they are considering how they might be able to put on a concert at some point. Maggie gives the latest on that here:

Happy listening!
They do have two live shows planned, Dec 29 & 30 2022, in Hapeville, near the Atlanta airport. Stay tuned for an official announcement from the band.
One of the best songs Neil wrote. And the most beautiful cover version with Maggie's sublime vocals....❤🩹
@yumpladukfoo any comment on the beautiful song, or are you just a grammar troll? Or is that ‘only’? 🤪
Better might be, "One of the best songs that Neil ever wrote." Just sayin' @yumpladukfoo
Oh, wow, yes! By a country mile! It's almost incomparable to any other ballad. I've always wanted to know just what inspired it, so I could go looking for the same thing.
I’m a grown-assed 74 year-old and this still moves my soul.
Just turned 65. Tears in my eyes takes me back to a more simple and peaceful time........

I’d like to hear Addison Agen do this song.
@@Victor-p1y9u Maggie did it about as good as anyone could. Addison is a good singer.

Maggie's voice: extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world. Thank You Maggie
An earth child with an Angel's voice ❤XOXO love you sweet ladies ❤
Jesus, her voice is as smooth as velvet. Beautiful cover; without a doubt the best version of this classic love song I’ve ever heard 💚
Maggie "Maggie-nificent" Adams.
You are brilliently correct.
The best version is the original with Neil
She is calm, never rushed, and very smooth. I love the whole band. It is real music.
@richardagreen I agree. Most remakes never sound as good as the original to those who grew up with it, and it's part of their musical soul, but this is lovely. It brings a different feel and sound. It's always good to hear another artist's take. It's often not intended to sound just the same, it's supposed to be a rendition of the song that expresses the performers own feeling and interpretation.
She sung it the way it should of been sung. Pure and simple
First 5 words in and she has you . The backing is great too they are some of the best covers I've ever heard and better than most of the shit that's in the charts today .
@@jamesryan5436 Indeed they are!
Yeah, even better than Neil.
@@jamesanderson5268 Um, not quite.
After listening to this video at least 50 times, I have really concentrated on listening to the fine details and subtle nuances of Maggie’s voice. It goes without saying that she is absolutely pitch perfect throughout the song. However, what really draws me in is the soothing warmth and sincerity in her voice. Maggie has an amazing gift for phrasing that allows the song to gently glide along effortlessly. But the really fine nuance in Maggie’s voice is.......the beautiful yet subtle way she starts the first note and ends the last note in each phrase. It takes a tremendous amount of vocal control and God given talent to do that so cleanly and right on pitch. For me, this is what makes Maggie a world class talent.
Speaking of phrasing, who she really reminds me of is Agnetha Fältskog, the blonde lady in Abba. Listen to Agnetha’s phrasing on S.O.S., as sung in the original Swedish. All that detail of enunciation, and how she holds that last note in a phrase. She would have been 25 when she recorded this, same as Maggie here.
m.ua-cam.com/video/Zu7IlF0_Agw/v-deo.html
100% agree. She has one of 'those' voices. I had youtube in the background playing subscriptions. When this video came on and Maggie's voice started into the music, my head snapped. I'd heard them before and the harmonies are what drew me in and made me subscribe. I was very sad that I'd 'discovered' them 9 years too late. What an incredible gift this song is.
Just 50 times ?! 😂
Joking aside - I agree with everything you say.
Kevin Bruington after reading your take I’m boing back again😀
Well said
I have loved music all my life. I'm 70 years old and still coming across wonderful sounds that can bring tears to my eyes. so much talent in this group.
That says a lot about F&F
here's to thirty more years of classic memories.
I'm 68 and have played since I was 6 and I know what you mean.
Music has the ability to transport you "anywhere and anywhen".
For me, this brings back bitter sweet memories of someone no longer with us, who I once loved very much ...
This whole recording surpasses Neil Young himself in both the quality of singing and production.
F&F are a recent but wonderful discovery 🎸🎶🎶🎵❤️
Just beautiful.
75 and a Woodstock grad. I so agree.
On this Christmas Eve I just had to come and listen to my angels and the guys one more time, one of my most favored songs, smooth.
I heard that Neil Young Covered this song!
I have been listening to this cover of Harvest Moon for a year now. It has become my go to version when I want to hear this song. The lead vocalist’s voice is hauntingly beautiful and perfectly coveys the story. Thank you!

This is my wife's favorite Neil Young tune. But this is her favorite version of the song. I play this for Cindy. Miss you babe.
Maggie Adams absolutely nails the lead vocals in this song. Perfect.

Sammie is one of the best harmonizers ever. Amazing ear for music. And Maggie, well everyone loves Maggie

And then we can go through each phone directory, state by state, in alphabetical order.
Has Neil ever responded to this INCREDIBLE rendition of his song? Maggie you NAILED it!
No, he hasn't. They weren't allowed to stream their concert version for some reason...

You guys are such a treasure, you make many, many people here in Washington State happy when we are closed indoors during the long dark winter. Thank you………
When Maggie smiles, her eyes light up and you hear that smile in her beautiful voice!
I'm trying to decide what we should thank Tim Purcell most for: (1) Getting this group of fine musicians together in the first place; (2) Preserving the performances of the "Twisted Taco" years so people who find them 8 or 9 or 10 years later (like me) can enjoy them; (3) The arrangements, especially the gorgeous vocal harmonies; (4) The surprisingly good quality of the video recording and editing; or (5) That you're continuing--coronavirus be damned--to make music for us. But I'm going to go with (6) Your commitment to clear, direct, heartfelt renditions of songs that show off the band's virtuosity without obscuring it with unneeded pyrotechnics. Thanks for all, in any case.
Also thank Maggie for asking Tim if he wanted to do some more with the channel after they had not played for 2 years, for her continued work behind the scenes, for selecting this song to cover, for having lots of good ideas how to do it,and for singing it so beautifully to kick off the "new and improved" F&F!

There is only 1 word to describe the vocals and harmony’s , they are “pure”
The significance of this video can't be understated. It had been over 2 years since F&F had released a song. This was Maggie's return to the band, meaning it was the first time all three foxes sang together. It's also the first song to feature both Darwin and Toby on guitar. It would be a little while longer before we would be blown away by the five part harmonies of Darwin, Tim, Chase, Maggie, and Sammie, but what a way to come out of hiatus!

That's saying an awful lot, but I believe you have all the justification you need to proclaim it.
I would say she's definitely in the "Runners Up" category
There is a tonality, a timbre, a silkiness and warmth to Maggies voice. Absolutely enchanting. Love ya Gal...
Right. Alison Krause good.
@@rayjeske6564 different than Alison Krause but yeah the same tenderness
Better than Allison Krause, and I like her! I think it's Maggie's freshness and lack of showbiz history.
In the history of ballads, there must have been tens of thousands written. Is this the best one of all? I think it could be, thanks to the genius of Neil Young and the virtuosity of these musicians. Things don't have to be complex or grandiose to be perfect.
I sure wish Linda Ronstadt had done a cover of Harvest Moon (she did collaborate with Neil Young), but even she, the GOAT, probably couldn't have done it better than Foxes and Fossils. Blissful perfection.
Check out "Telling Me Lies", a song whose best known version was mostly sung by Linda, but F&F's version features all three Foxes equally.
And after listening to what I think is all of the Harvest Moon renditions on UA-cam, I think I can confidently say that Maggie is the only singer who hits each note just as Neil Young did in the original. It's difficult to do, but her brain is obviously wired in a way unfamiliar to almost all of us; thank God. (In the verse that ends " . . . I loved you with all my heart," she differs but unequivocally improves on the original.
I go away for a while, and then I come back, always, to this song. Maggie is simply enchanting. Please don't ever stop singing.
.......then one day, all of the planets aligned and Maggie sang Harvest Moon with the rest of F&F backing her up with perfection! Thank you!!
And everyone who had been helplessly hoping realized the world was alright again.
Soft, pure gold describes Maggie. Sammie just makes me smile and want to hear more, such great harmony. I am a big fan of these folks. I love their music, and their love of music. We all think we recognize talent when we hear it (it's always subjective), but IMHO these three girls have some of the best voices I've ever heard. Maggie and Sammie were magic together. Then I heard Chase, I was like ...what the hell? Someone just discovered Mamma Cass improved. All the "Fossils" are shockingly talented themselves. Thank you all!! Thank you Tim, obviously you're the heartbeat.
Musicians are such happy people, I LOVE this song. It’s on my list of all time favorites. I could listen to it every day.😊

I am with you.
I have heard many arrangements and versions of this song including those by Neil Young. In my opinion this is hands down the best. Amazing!!
This by far the best version of this song I have heard by a female singer. IMHO, the best male version is Raul Malo's .
Check out the Reina Del Cid version, it's very good also.
I agree> I'm a Reina and The Other Favorites fan as well
The best cover of this song I have ever listened
This is my favorite F & F tune of all! Maggie's vocals are literally just PERFECTION!!
Same for me.
1.5 million + you gotta admit....
Yep! Same. ♥️
Agreed, but I just can't overcome the suspicion that pitch correction software was used. Like, the best singers on the planet can't hit the notes dead on time after time like she is doing here.
@@wirenutt57 Yes, there are singers who can sing everything absolutely in tune. I've heard it live many times. (Without microphones, which I mention only so no one thinks there was pitch correction and I just wasn't aware of it.)

This band is crazy good, and Maggie those small modulations don't go unnoticed. Brava!
Maggie is so adorable... She knows that she missed that bit at the end, but waited to see if anyone noticed (I didn't) then she owned up to it straight away. These girlz are awesome- and the band is too, of course!
Most beautiful rendition of this song that I've ever heard. Coming from a huge Neil Young fan, I don't say that lightly but it is what it is...pretty awesome.

Foxes n Fossils do here. Hands down. Young’s version is good. F n F is cleaner. Smoother. Question for you: who sang the song”Get Together?”
This is truly a wonderful song and the group is great. The girls all have a great voices. Thank you
I cannot believe anybody could surpass this brilliant Neil Young song but this lot have. Maggie is just wonderful on this. 100 times better than most groups around today. Keep up the good work F&F.

I know right? 👌
Just wow!
I will before it's over.
My God. The Foxes are grown up, and the Fossils are even more Fossil-esque. But they still sound great!
Yes, we are still 'fossil izing....', Thanks, Darwin(guitarist)
@@darwinconort424 awesome to hear you playing with them again!
@@t3dshaw3 Thanks, Ted. It's great to be a part of these projects
@@darwinconort424 You ancient bastards still rock. I'm probably about the same age as you but all I can do is roll
more "fossil-esque" hahaha. I'll remember that for when the time comes my family and friends start calling me old. :D
This song, her voice, the soft swing-shuffle strumming of the stringed instruments; elegant simplicity. Love it.
And let's mention Maggie still has her million dollar mega-watt smile!
I can't listen to this song unless I am fully prepared to just sit and cry, not from sadness, but from a combination of emotions borne of a great song performed so well.
It’s like living in a perfect world for five minutes 😊 , only for five minutes, I guess I’ll just have to play it again 🙏
Amen
Exactly
Well said, Godbless.
Love you name, as I am an ELO fan!
My thoughts exactly
Maybe it’s just me but I find that it’s hard to just listen to one song....I end up listening to 5 or 10! This is one good cover band for sure!! Love this cover song, sweet harmony.
It is definitely *not just you*.
I'm a huge fan of Neil Young and a critic of him also. My favorite album was hands down shocking pink. My favorite song is. The needle and the damage done. Now I Neil Young is a very private person and holds his songs deeply. I'm surprised to cover songs. But what a wonderful rendition.
Yep...once I start listening to one...its over! I watch all of them....especially the Fossils. I like to watch how they play...their way of doing things. So talented!!!
We need something stronger than “thumbs up”.
That's what the virtual tip jar at the end of the videos is for. Help them continue bringing us great music.
lol.you right, I tried hands up..didn't work!!!

That was excellent!
Beautiful! ❤
I can’t say enough about each on off the foxes’ voices but my level of goose bumps on this is brought on by the magic in Maggie’s voice!! Such an Angel !! Thank you all!!
I could listen to Maggie, Sammie, Chase, Tim and the rest of the band all day every day.
Me too
I do
I pretty much do.
Ditto.
This is lovely. Really lovely. I just have one question. Why, oh why, didn't Sammie play the harmonica on this?
Is there any song F&F can't cover and make all their own? This is simply, perfectly, beautiful.
Hey DJM, I know that was a rhetorical question, but I feel compelled to answer it. No!!!
more! more! more! Maggie's voice is better than ever. harmonies are perfect. band sounds great. love it
One My Favorite Neil Young Songs! This Is Pure Perfection! Wow! So Amazing! Perfect Harmonies! Maggie,Maggie! What Is There To Say? One Of My Favorite Bands 😮
Okay, I admit, I adore every single member of this band.
I celebrated my 73rd birthday today, by ending it with an evening of listening to various songs by F&F from 2009 to 2020. My son, who is a musician, played his piano and sang "Father and Son" by Peter Gabriel, on Facebook. Posting it to my timeline. End of a perfect day.
Happy belated birthday!!🎂
@@midnightrider715 Thks.
Got emotional just being able to see and listen to y'all again. Really missed you. Beautifully done. Thank you Tim, but I want MORE! Maggie, you're killin this. Such a voice!

A third Ditto!

DITTO #5
Of course the lead vocals are excellent, but after listening to this song again just recently I've just realized how melodic the bass line is throughout the song. We miss you Scott.
Every time I listen to Maggie sing this it nearly brings tears to my eyes. Her voice is so pure I can't get enough.
Our Granddaughter will be getting married 1 October 2020, the Harvest Moon. This song will play at their reception. She is marrying a fine, young man. May God bless you both, Allison and Alan!
You can download an MP3 of this recording here -- foxesandfossils.com/product/harvest-moon/ -- for a tiny price and play this version at Allison's wedding. I'll bet she and her groom and the guests will all love it.
Congrats
@@dougsalzmann2752 I did and they really loved it! Allison and Alan had never heard of the song "Harvest Moon". Thanks fer the tip!
I just love Maggie’s phrasing, I’m usually not a fan of changes to songs I love but this works better than the original.
Just so you know how much I love this group, I million of those views are mine! Gary Carter - Port Orford, Oregom
I’m from Australia and I can comfortably say this band is America’s best kept secret.
Dave agree
Amen!
Not for much longer at this rate! If Lake Street Dive can appear on the Tonight Show, so can F&F - anyone have contacts?
100% correct!
@@John_Hazeldene Amen, John! Man, I would LOVE to see them get the exposure.
