I met Greg while asking people to sing in the 14th street/8th avenue subway in NYC. At first I was taking a quick snack break while my team member changed the batteries. Then, I'm told that a gentleman in a blue shirt wants to sing. So I quickly finish my snack and pick up the guitar. We pick a song, and Greg puts on the most energetic performance I have seen in a while!

A lot of people have said no, some have said no initially but changed their minds to yes, and some have said yes right away. I ask these people to sing with one purpose: to create a way for them to experience a sense of happiness and freedom they did not feel before. And much of the time, this actually works (and that makes ME happy).

The way he pulled it off made me feel like he's so talented and knows the song very well. Just a lil uncomfortable in the second belt maybe a litle unprepared but overall, it was so good to be a non-singer's performance.
He was just passing by, a normal looking guy, when suddenly for a few minutes he changed into a beast, and then came back to normal and disappeared. As a human, I find the whole scene beautiful

this dude look like the type of man that gave up on his dream to be a rockstar, so he would have a regular job and build a family, but deep inside he knows that THIS is what he should be doing all this time. Such an amazing performance, he sung every word and every note as if it meant a lot to him.

A random guy walking to work passes by a talented guy with a guitar and they combine to create one of the most amazing works of art I can remember.
So annoying that this was 2 years ago and Greg hasn't put out an album or posted any songs or made all his 19 million fans ecstatic. Some people have naturally incredible voices. I've known a few people who can sing like this without having had formal training.
@@Alex-js5lg I respectfully disagree in this case. Yes, some people have natural aptitude for singing, but this guy is using very specific bel canto techniques. Not at a professional level, granted, but he definitely has had some exposure to classical training. Pay attention to his pronunciation of certain sounds like "-ee," "-al," and "r" sounds and how he deliberately morphs the pronunciations to a "ə" sound to keep his soft palate open. That kind of thing isn't something any human will ever do naturally.
Well he said he doesn't sing professionally not that he didn't have training. I don't know in America, but here in Italy a professional musician is someone whose main activity and source of income is music.
I agree with you that he shows great technique and I'm also convinced like you that he is very talented AND trained.

Greg probably, as a teenager, sang in a local band in his neighborhood or school, hence the experience and skill. In terms of age, he fits into the golden, grunge generation and the time when the song he sang was written.

as a classically trained singer, that dude has the technique and control of a classically trained singer. that performance was off the cuff but it sounded and looked so controlled and methodically crafted. it's like something you achieve after hours and hours in a practice room. awesome.
Also classically trained. I can only say ditto. He had me at the mic check. I just knew he had command of what was about to happen.
I'm not trained in any way, I just like musicals, but he sounds like he has a great voice for a stage musical.

I love to sing karaoke. And I think I'd want to put another singer between me and him. Dude totally intimidates me. I've sung with random people on the street, I've sang to the radio in stores while by myself, I really don't know a lot of fear anymore. Maybe I would have given it a few minutes for people to walk away before I tried to follow him. Greg was an absolute joy to listen to. And I love that song. I was singing along with him. Huh, never saw that song before. Maybe I should try it sometime.

@@henryofskalitz5212 Pretty sure he has done that 100s of times.... random dude who sings in the shower does not approach a street musician, adjusts the microphone distance and heigth to what he is used to like he has done 100 times before , then tells the musician G.B C, C minor and delivers such a powerful performance. This dude has been on stage with bands 100% and probably for years.

I just want you to know it really lifts my spirits. I can’t sing a tune but love to clean and sing. It makes it fun.
You’re an awesome guy ! Love that you take your talents and engage with people to hopefully show how great it feels to sing. Not to mention your teaching people to stop and talk to humans not just text or use all technology out there. Human interactions are really becoming instinct.
