The best in the world, I'm from Australia and never heard a cover band like them, they are starting to get a good following over here also, thoroughly deserved too
Your wrong but then you asked ... was Frank Sinatra a cover artist ... or George Strait ? Neither wrote a single song ....there are cover bands that play the bars then there are tribute bands and then there is the level where we are at now .. professional level musicians playing great music
Last time I checked, no other version of this song on YT has as many views as this one. Songwriter Linda Thompson herself likes this version enough to join their fan club on Facebook.
Its not very often I get an evening to listen intently to F&F, but when I do I am always amazed. I'm really loving how musicians are covering past material in new and fantastic ways that always brings a tear and a longing for the past when music was mostly analog and flowing.. Blessings to F&F.
I'm a New Yorker in Thailand and couldn't agree more. I'm so happy to hear them creating new classics. This gave me goose bumps from that 1st harmonized chorus. Not really familiar with the original, but fell in love with this immediately. Considering the reputation of the legends you're covering I'm sure they would be impressed and honored by how you've gilded the lily. Such remarkable talents! Thanks for sharing your gifts with us!
If they were were the Pride of Georgia I'd think they would have had more than 5 or 6 gigs a year when they played live.(Scott said there really wasn't much interest in them)I don't think Georgia knew what a gem they had among them.Maybe now they do.
It struck me how well the Foxes voices complement each other. No one voice stands out, yet you can distinctly hear each person’s voice during the harmonies. A truly magical combination.
I just love it when Maggie and Sammie harmonize. They've done it so long together, it's just perfect!! Chase has been a gold medal find!!! Listening to this song for the third time in row to give you an idea!
Interesting composition. Starts off with very good instrumentals, adds some pretty good vocals, but really comes into it's own in the second half of the song when the vocals achieve a near perfect blend. I really enjoyed this cover.
The instrumentation is understated, 3 highly capable vocalists share the duties so unselfishly....all in a perfect mixdown. Profoundly dramatic, that I can tell you !
so maggie sings and I say, "ok, she has the best voice", then Sammy chimes in and I say "No, Sammy does", and then of course the same thing when Chase pipes in. But Sammy harmonizing is just tear making
Same here. Each one of them amaze me every time I hear them. I keep saying this is the best I’ve ever heard...and then I hear them again on the next song and I say the same thing over again.
All three women (no longer girls) have voices that have matured since their teenage years. Rich and mellow, and incredible control. This was a great showcase of their voices.

I just keep coming back to this one. The original was from the Trio, but these 3 women are THE TRIO!!! This song could not be done better. In a sane world, these 3 would be making 7 figures playing in packed venues all over the country and beyond!

I like that this arrangement took a different path with the lead vocals whereas the original was just one of the ladies doing the lead... Linda I believe. Incidentally the backing musicians on the original were basically the who's who of 70s/80s session aces and it was no easy task covering their parts. Well done all around.
All of the girls sound great! But I will say that Sammie’s tone is so crisp, clean, exact and pure. It is very rare for some one to have that type of voice. Or should I say, someone that is blessed with that type of voice!
@@BozeHollow it *is* a blessing, but it’s also a *lot* of hard work on her part, to constantly keep the vibrato stripped out when she’s singing harmony. Always pitch-perfect, too.
It is interesting to compare this performance to The Trio’s recording of this song. Theirs is fantastic, featuring Linda singing lead throughout with Dolly and Emmylou doing their incredible harmonies. But then Foxes and Fossils blow it out of the water when Maggie, Sammie, and Chase each take portions of the lead. Handing off the lead as they do is masterful use of the strengths of their individual vocal qualities. I would never have believed anyone could top The Trio, but these three young ladies sure did!

I love that all 3 Foxes get to showcase their considerable talents on this song. I love Linda Ronstadt but when I listen to the original all I can think is how much I would love to hear Emmylou sing Samme’s verse.
That was OUTSTANDING! The girls just nailed their performances on that song, individually and singing harmonies with each other...WOW! Just when we think F&F can't surprise us by performing a song any better as a group...you do it.
A cover band that knows and understands the material they sing. This band is for REAL. Their harmonies are pure. Musicianship is top notch. When this virus leaves please come to Chicago.
To attempt this arrangement is brave, to nail it is genius. I kept waiting to see if they could get the harmony and third verse Linda Ronstadt dynamics...Mission accomplished.
It doesn't matter what they will sing, I know I will like it. Someday, I would love for them to cover 'Lonesome Loser' by the Little River Band. That opening harmony grabs you, and is a perfect fit for F&F, plus they have all the instruments covered.
Personally I'd love to here 'Cool Change’ but I’m a bit biased. That’s one of my go-to karaoke songs... Plus, I’d love to see who covered the great sax parts in that tune...
@@andrewlambert7464 One of my all-time favorite chill songs! I thought about that one too, but figured Lonesome Loser might fit a little better, but hey, I wouldn't shun either option.
Any “LRB” song will be awesome by these people, for they harmonize like no other! Especially the tall good looking blonde! Just love her as a back up harmonized OR the lead, does not matter with her. And she’s not hard to look at as well. All around winner.
...I do HONESTLY BELIEVE, THE FOXES TRIO HAVE DEFINITELY TOPPED THE ORIGINAL TRIO!!!...Awesome job, Girls!!!...They couldn't do it without you Fossils, Neither!!!...Simply BEYOND PERFECTION!!!...💖
Don't get me wrong, I believe these women are way beyond talented, but imo they aren't quite as in sync as D.P. L.R. and E.H. As you listen to the "original" focus on their vibratos, particularly when the harmony kicks in. Their ability to match the timing of each other's vibrato is uncanny. It may seem like a minor thing but it is not easy at all to do. And most people don't even realise it's happening. They just know at a gut level what beauty they are hearing. Again...love these young gals and looking forward to exploring more of their covers.🎤 😀👏
I love what they did here but I do not believe they "topped" D.P., L.R. and E.H. -- and really, it isn't a competition. D.P., E.H. and L.R. were/are among the best of the best, each with a very unique voice so when the three came together, it was magical.
I made a post in the fan page and I was careful not to say that they were better than the Trio. Linda Ronstadt was simply at the top of her game when it was recorded. That in no way takes away from this amazing performance by Foxes and Fossils.
@@danc3693 .... DP, LR, EH among the best of the best? I wouldn't go that far. Ok, LR yes, but the other two, not even close. Damn, have you seen DP lately? She looks like a freak with all that cosmetic surgery.
OK. Someone smarter than me is going to have to explain why these people are not under contract in Nashville and making tons of music. With what we see passing for "music" in the world today, and yet we have this band, these gifted musicians and harmonies that are nothing short of perfect every dang time they sing, how is it this hasn't happened? Seriously? I've been here a couple years now waiting to see this happen, and confident it would and it hasn't. This song is over the top good, I can't find a single think not to like about it, and just sit hear shaking my head hitting the replay button. Well done to all of you F&F. You are a shining light of joy in a world that is desperate for it.
It's simply not their goal at this point in their lives to do it any different than what they are doing now. Maggie is a manager at a talent promotion firm in Nashville if they wanted to go that route. Neither Maggie or Sammie are interested in doing it for a career ,and Chase is pursuing her solo career independently and would appreciate our support. chasesings.com for her Patron, "Chase" is her youtube channel.

I love F&F. I didn't know this song existed until I saw an interview with Darwin. He said it was his favorite because of the angelic performance. I agree.! I especially love the harmonies and the fact that one of the 3 will drop down a half step during "lies". I think Maggie does it in the first verse, Sammie later on. Correct me if I'm wrong. I decided tonight that leaving comments is nice but this group is great! I'm going to open my wallet and become patreon. And of all your songs that I listen to just about every night...THIS is the first one I picked tonight because..well...there are NO words to describe the sound and the talents.
I posted this on another of their videos but it's worth repeating: Tim Purcell is the luckiest SOB on the planet! How in the hell can one man assemble this much AMAZING talent into one band. I'm a musician and I've started a few club bands over the years, (Chicagoland area), and while I've worked with some good musicians and singers, none came even close to this. F&F is world class all the way!
@@glennadamson268 I so agree. I'm a musician and it's hard to see and hear this kind of talent anywhere. He's a BLESSED man and I'm quite sure he knows it. Keep pursuing Tim P.
It's not luck. It's earned. Talent attracts talent. Every player wants to play in the band or with the people who make them sound their best. Tim's special talent is that he's not just a talented musician in his own right, he's also really good at getting the best out of those around him.

A cover band that knows and understands the material they sing. This band is for REAL. Their harmonies are pure. Musicianship is top notch. When this virus leaves please come to Chicago.
.... or even the UK!
@@MissJensk1 Or even here in ATL. LOL!
Don't expect a soon end to the intentional middle class-killing plandemic.
@@roberthenry4283 Wtf?
@@roberthenry4283 ?
💯
Oh yeah One of my fav songs saw them live in concert and they so rocked! Do believe F&F could nail that! 🤘🏻❤️
The 3 Part Harmony during the Chorus was Stunning ladies~
The first time I heard this song I was just wow I thought they were angels from heaven! And Ms CHASE has got some pipes!
Those 3 girls sing like angels, beautiful
...I do HONESTLY BELIEVE, THE FOXES TRIO HAVE DEFINITELY TOPPED THE ORIGINAL TRIO!!!...Awesome job, Girls!!!...They couldn't do it without you Fossils, Neither!!!...Simply BEYOND PERFECTION!!!...💖
AGREED!
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Listen to current Nashville for a clue. These folks are too good for that scene.
@@lynwessel2471 Thank you Lyn, I was aware of Chases' channel and follow it. I was not aware they had made a conscious choice not to follow that path as a group. The world is missing out, thankfully they share their talent with us here.
Arch Stanton It’s crazy they are not signed to a major contract deal. But we can just order their own CDs.
I like all types of music, but I'm a country boy at heart. Listen to this group singing with the way their voices compliment each other is amazing, but my problem is that they bring tears to my eyes and heart, not in a bad way, y'all are so uplifting with voices that touch my heart and others too, God Bless you all
So, so good. I was watching this, and my wife, not seeing the computer, said "who is this??? they are SOOOO good." So, she launched into a search and now knows probably more about F and F than I do. Congratulations on such great work!
No need to search for their songs. Hit the orange F&F to go to their complete video list. Watch the Q&A and 100M views videos to meet the nice people behind this great music.
There are not enough superlatives in the world to describe the passion, musicianship, and quality F&F bring to everything they do. What an amazing rendition. Thank you so much!
Chappy Wolf just perfection!
Even if you called Marty Stuart and borrowed his Fabulous Superlatives...
still not enough.
The power and quality of Chase's voice reminds me of Linda Ronstadt.
Thomas Ward Have you checked out Chase’s UA-cam channel? There are several of her fans who would agree with you, including me.
Agreed. She has so much controlled power and yet can pull back the reins. Ronstadt did the same.
Linda had what they called a "torchy" voice and Chase has the same low and top end power.
@@MrFloydSaunders Yes, I've listened to several of her songs. I especially enjoy her covers of the standards.
There's a reason F&F is rising at this point in time there music stands for everything america is so desperately trying to hang on to It's clean not flashy down to earth but the best part is people just can't stop listening to the music they create it has the ability to capture your attention from the beginning to the end this is a rear quality other bands wish they had F&F u guy's are awesome ride the wave as long as u can your memories will be priceless I'm so happy for u guys
If you're a fossil like me you remember the days of an album being released and going to a record store to buy it. Not the case today. Instant access! I think it's worth paying for. Support this Band! They are amazing!
I ordered physical copies of their albums!
I'm speechless, lost for words -- unbelievably beautiful!!!
Okay, ya’ll made this 68 year old fella cry. Not because of the words but in the purity of the harmony.
I'm 66 I thought it was just me.
A 10 Star Performance by musicians and vocalists. The arrangement is a thumbs up, as well.
Americana still exists! And it is beautiful in this group!
Oh my god...those voices...Maggie like silken velvet and quite, quite unique.....Sammie like cut glass, when she starts her lead section I get goose bumps and also with her superb high harmonies...Chase such power and range. Perfectly showcased in another superb arrangement by Tim and as always the excellent musicianship of the fossils
Practically too amazing to be real! What an experience listening to these girls.
Truly beautiful singing....thank you all!
Stunning vocal performances - the best yet from this particular trio of gifted singers.
Some of the best harmonies I’ve ever heard. Timing, pitch. Pure magic.
F&F have 3 times the views of Linda, Emmy Lou & Dolly...! Beautiful! "The Pain of Loving You" is another Trio song that goes along with this one...
Maggie and Sammie, just smooth, smokie and sultry, and Chase's voice could just completely fill a room by itself. Their covers are the best ever to appear on youtube!
The best F&F has ever done!
The Foxes sound like angels and the musicianship is stellar. Tim, great production. Thanks F&F. Much love!
Hear hear!
I agree the way Tim placed the voices on the sounds stage was brillant.
I'm late to the party; I had to go back and listen to the original. Unable to improve on what all the other adoring commenters have listed below, but I think this version of three ladies is better than the original! More depth and clarity and goosebumps! And the Fossils were beautiful too!
Totally agree. You said it all.
I am a singer and I agree but I now sing this every week at karaoke with my daughter and dad
@@jennifervance13 .... Post it on UA-cam
Always one of my faves from Dolly, Linda, and Emmylou. The 3 women do such an excellent job with solos and harmonies!
When Chase rolls her eyes halfway back into her head, hang on cause it's gonna be a magic note!!!
That’s absolutely right
Goose bumps. Unbelievable.
