The main appeal of the maverick WAS the value. Ford is doing their best to ruin that.

I'm just glad they finally put fog lights on it!! Maybe just a ST-line, still with the 2.0L
Hopefully the lower priced models will have them as an option too. Fog lights are a safety feature that should be standard or at least optional on all vehicles & trim levels. I was also happy to see them added to the Mustang Mach E Rally.
2.7 Ecoboost would make a great ST
I actually like the front end. I have an 2021 F150 and if I am honest with myself the Maverick would do 98 percent of what I use it for. Having said that, I would like to see the two extremes. An all wheel drive hybrid and a Tremor that will tow 4k. That would be a tough decision for me.
“If” (& I do mean if) this is a Maverick ST I’d be interested if it’s offered w/a 6 spd transmission as previous ST’s models. Ford won’t be able to build these things fast enough in ST trim with 350hp/350 ft-lbs, AWD & manual transmission … I’d throw my money at one
I really like that idea but highly doubt it'll come to fruition sadly but if it did and the price was right I'd absolutely buy one!

Sadly Raj Nair isn’t with Ford anymore or perhaps we’d see some Focus RS razzle dazzle applied to a Maverick ST or RS mini sport truck. I think there’s definitely a market for it. Price it about $35K … break out the order book 🤣

The Maverick still needs a hybrid with AWD!!
The body color bumpers, bed caps and lower side trim are nice. The front end though... Those large painted areas flanking the grill will get really beat up by bugs, rocks and road debris.

@@pwd1134 it's crazy that many vehicles don't offer them now, even as a simple halogen bulb that will melt snow & ice that accumulate & have a better color for adverse weather than the hlueish white LED headlights. Also, why do some cars offer a bright LED DRL in the fog light area that gets dim when the headlights are on? I'm thinking of the last Taurus & the current Malibu.

I got a 22 Maverick and love it ive pretty much always owned a full size truck. With the rediculous prices of half tons now the Maverick does the job for me plus the gas mileage is great. I really like how they color matched the bumpers it looks really good I would buy that truck.

Really reminds me of the Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin. Love the wheels. Like the bumpers. Not a huge fan of the waterfall grille. I hope it has really good power. That alone may attract new buyers.

I'm a current 2023 Maverick Hybrid owner and I love my truck. The only option to change for a New Maverick is if they make a 4x4 Hybrid version. Also to me I think the front end look kind of ugly! Let's see!
Not a huge fan of the front end vs the old one (which I own) but it's not ugly. Just not necessarily an improvement. I don't see that front end on the Tremor or anything off-roady but I could be wrong. Either way, glad to see Ford invest in this platform.
kind of think I like the headlights, not crazy about the grill. a larger screen would be good. I think it's a new trim with some of that carrying over to all trims

@@klwarhouse The transmissions in the 2022 Ecoboosts where absolute shit in low speed traffic. Always slammed gears at 10k miles. Glad I got a good trade in for my current vehicle.
@@tomahawk7259 I've heard a few people comment on the 8sp with the Ecoboost. Either way, it can't be worse than the current 2022 Honda Ridgeline I currently have..... Can it? 🤣 This Honda has been the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned.
We bought one of the first that got delivered late 2021. Was tempted to sell but glad we did not. Now I really am a Maniac because we own 4, just uploaded a video on the new pair.

I have an ‘18 Odyssey and it’s had lots of minor electrical gremlins, an engine recall for bad fuel injectors and I really dislike the pretty frequent throttle delay at certain times. Anyhow, thanks for sharing if you get a chance. I think a Maverick or midsize could be in my future. Be well.

Grille appears similar to some years Mercury of the past.
New Mavericks now very easy to find on dealer lots.
Used prices for them have drastically dropped in past 4 months.

Reminds me of 21-23 F150. In a good way. Hopefully price stays reasonable and the value is still there and this will be a hot seller!

As obesity rises in the US, sedans become less attractive. It's easier to force customers into a larger CUV as opposed to increasing sedan size and payload capacity. I'm not saying it's right, just acknowledging the unfortunate reality.
Plus in regards to reliability, CAFE is forcing vehicle engines to go with either turbos or hybrid powertrains. As these engines get more complicated, the chance of issues increases. My wifes 2018 Santa Fe has crappy fuel economy and very laggy acceleration, but it's NA engine will most likely outlast my tiny turbo'ed 2020 Escape. Is the extra 5 mpg really worth it? Only time will tell.
Compared to production in the 60’s of millions of mustangs it isn’t.
I like the new front end. I’ve been wanting a maverick because I like smaller trucks but I couldn’t get past the look. Really digging the new look 👍🏼

I love my Tremor, but I will gladly trade it in for an ST
The grill in the front looks like a Volvo grill.
Overall, I like it besides the wheels. The blue is beautiful and the design is fairly simple. I’m more curious on what the engine and drivetrain will be.
this is the 2.5 maverick with the same ecoboost used in the ecoboost mustang. It's a ecoboost mustang with a mini truck bed.
the best option is a slightly beefed up Ford Focus RS like drive train. But a true Maverick RS with a 6sp I'd be all over that but i need it in green so i can mod the tailgate to say PickleRick.
all that said I will be looking to pick up a used XLT soon, i ride MTB's and my daily is a Focus RS with ST short block and bigger turbo making 480whp on pump gas. it's a good car but i have kids and need something a little more universal.
The best thing about the maverick is it is cheap! A fancier one seems to be contradictive if you ask me.

It's pretty sharp looking, but not practical enough for many of us. We need a long bed for the Maverick and the Ranger. Truck beds on smaller trucks have gotten to be pretty much worthless. I've got a F150 with a 5-1/2' bed, and it's often too small. Had my hopes up when they brought back the Ranger, but alas.. It's overall as big as my F150, with an even smaller bed and gets the same gas mileage. Otherwise a Maverick or Ranger could be in my future.
it's just a mid cycle refresh, nothing too crazy. A new mug on the face (looks like blinders added to a race horse) and a little mod on rear bumper skirt and some new tech inside. Other then that same bones and power plants... Happy to say a have a 22 with over 62k and still going strong, glad I bought sight unseen early when they where still inexpensive...
Those wheels are straight off of a 1980 Turbo Trans Am. The grille does look like something designed more for a Mercury. I would like to see a roll down rear window instead of the small opening.

I live in Hermosillo, Mexico. And in front of my house they test the cars that they will produce at the assembly plant here. 2 weeks ago I saw this blue maverick ST and she is really beautiful.

The front is active grill shutters like the Mach E, the wheels are designed for efficiency like the mach e rally and there are no exhaust pipes. Mmmmm
I think it looks better than the previous version.
I like the front end, except for 'the bib' in the center. I like the new rear bumper. Hopefully the front end and paint scheme will vary by trim level. At the very least, the XL trim will still have black bumpers and rocker panel.
I like the newer front end personally. Looks a little more aggressive and gives it more of a tough truck look if that makes sense. If they come out with an ST version and the base price is good ill definitely buy one.

The 2.3 seems the obvious choice for a speedy mav. Blue Cruise would be great, i love the current self driving setup and improving that would be great.
Tremor drivetrain with the 2.3 would be fantastic, but i bet the sport truck will be the result.
Not crazy about the headlights, but overall it's a decent looking refresh. Insofar as the "more power" question, in particular with an ST model, the 2.3L Ecoboost would be a valid answer. I wouldn't mind the 2.3L being made available for all Mavericks.
I like it. Plus I thought this blue color with Ford denotes an ST trim but I could be mistaken. If it came with AWD and a 2.7L EcoBoost it could be a runaway hit for them
Still 35-40k in my area so I can expect this to be 45-55k after mark up
My son works for Car dealership and there meeting saying Ford talking about come out a manual transmission one . There are working more towing capacity because of the Santa Cruz. On both models. 2 Wheel Dr. and four-wheel-drive. Trying do before Toyota brings theirs that’s is out in under countries..
I think I'll be ordering one as soon as they're available.
Those wheels all give me feelings of the 84 Mustang gt350 or SVO style wheels which a SVO Maverick would be cool as well but i look for them to follow suit with the ST lineup using the 2.3L being its a direct bolt in that'll get them into the 11's without trouble.

I like the restyled front better than the old one for the most part. However, I do have one issue with it. I don't understand what is going on with the body panel that is around the grill and into the headlights. It doesn't seem like it's executed very well from what the photos indicate. It kind of seems like something of a homemade fabrication.
I think the original front-end styling was trying too hard to be like the bigger Ford trucks and the restyling is much better suited to this vehicle. Except for the odd execution of it.
The wheels do look like the one you put on electric cars..

The AWD hybrid, is the one i'm waiting for. As a canadian, it's a necessity.
I hear all the upgrades and I think people are missing the point of this truck, its simple cheap and practical. the minute you keep adding things like bigger engine bigger screen more tech more this more that you get to the current over teched cars that no one likes today. people want a simple little truck. if it aint broke dont fix it. like a tw200 its slow but people love it anyways and they havent changed since 1987 :) like the toyota tacomas pre 2005. this truck could be legendary if they just leave it alone and focus on reducing cost and increasing production.

I like the small truck segment. Right now Ford is walking away with it. They need to keep it fresh and expand the offerings. Most people don't need a large truck or can't park it in their garage. Midsize trucks are getting to the size of full size trucks just a few decades ago. Prices are ballooning and the bubble will pop. Without a small truck, there will be no way to capture the money lost to the large truck market.

@@es-qf2gw Most people can't or don't want to drive a manual transmission. Due to the limited market demand production costs are higher and production justification is limited. Ironically, the original small trucks were all manuals to save money. How things change.

I would love to see a AWD with the hybrid. I don’t think many people are buying these for power. The added capability with the fuel efficiency of the hybrid would be more useful IMO

I hope this is the Lariat and they actually DO make an ST. I would finally pull the trigger and get one. That's literally all I've been waiting for is more power.
More power is always better, but you can tune the 2.0 to over 300HP. That is the plan for the turbo AWD I show in my videos from Park City once the warranty is up.
I have put on 46k miles on my maverick xlt fx4……only thing I can say I don’t like is the ground clearance. It needs another inch or so.

It's doing well because a lot of genz kids like myself would like to have an f150 or even a superduty, but we can't justify the fact that those vehicles have almost doubled in price. In 2019 you could get a well equipped lariat for $40-44k now they want $67-73k. Price alone is driving maverick sales. If the other trucks lose the covid price fat, then we of 20-32 years old would be buying them faster than they can be built.

I dislike how Ford is watering down the ST trim. Back in the "old days" (2013) the ST badge was tailored to enthusiasts who could at least drive a stickshift. Then came the Focus ST Line (lame), later Ford decided to slap an ST badge on a 3 row SUV (bloated). Now we may see a new Maverick ST built for the lowest common denominator who doesn't even know what a standard transmission is, much less how to drive one. I'm not a "hur hur millennial anti-theft device" boomer, I don't drive a manual daily, I simply remember how excited I was that we finally got the ST here in the US.
Not to mention the Maverick was supposed to be the affordable option in the Ford lineup, and dealerships will let these STs sit on the lot for years before they even think of picking up an xl/xlt for their customers.
Ford keeps throwing as many trims as possible at their vehicles to see what sticks, all while the CEO admits their vehicles have quality issues that will take years to sort out. I don't think lots of new engines and trims is the answer to that problem. The 7.3 V8 should have been a no-brainer for reliability, yet the rollers kept delaminating. Leaking taillights shouldn't cause the HVAC to stop working, and shouldn't cost thousands of dollars to repair.
It’d be cool if you could get adaptive cruise and lane centering without having to spend nearly $40k.

i like the updated headlights that look like the refreshed f150, but i do not like the grand national front looking grill. I hope they put the 2.3L in this "ST" potential model. I'm not sure if it can fit the width of a transverse 2.7L EB V6. Has ford ever mounted that engine (the 2.7 EB) transversely mounted in any design? I'm not sure how the engine is laid out in explorers but i guess i can quickly google.
Nah, it doesn't need a larger screen. I almost never use the screen, buttons and knobs are far more useful, quicker, and safer to use while driving. Literally the only time I use the screen is when I'm changing the source of the music from the radio to my bluetooth, and that's it.

For the love of God I don't want tech, I want an affordable pick up and this is the closest we can get to that. The Maverick sells because it's the only affordable pickup left.
Love it. Hope it's gas only, not hybrid or electric. Grille isn't grand, but it's replaceable.
I don't like the wheels but it kinda reminds me of the Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin. The light design look almost the same as the lower trims of the 2024 Ranger to me.

Nice looking unit hate the cub caps rims . I own a 2009 Sport Trac Adrenalin and from the factory the only thing I wish ford had done was give the V8 version the twin duals on both sides . But this is a nice looking unit give it some chrome wheels and a set of chrome exhaust tips and the 2.3 mustang engine. Now We’re Talking 😎😎😎…

Not a huge fan of the new grill. Glad to hear about an ST overall. Needs to have a lower ride height. It needs more "GMC Syclone" and less "Ford STX". Be under the price of an SR5 Tacoma and at least 2.0 sec quicker to 60.
