My 94 ES300 was indeed a "tarted up Camry" The Avalon(now discontinued) is longer, wider, and lower than a Camry, has a longer wheelbase, larger interior and trunk, as well as fuel tank. Just look at other manufacturers as they share platforms and engines. Take VW/Audis MQB platform for example. It would be a little disingenuous to call a Q3 a tarted up Audi A1 or A3(mqb), as it's currently based on the longer(mqb) VW Tiguan. Lexus/Toyota use that 3.5L in many vehicles to save $ and because it's smooth and reliable. Both our 14 RX and 13 ES have that 3.5L V6 with 430k combined trouble free miles. The LS is not a sport sedan. It's never been a sport sedan and was never intended to be one. I don't know why it's trying to be one now. It's sad that it's not the elegant, dignified V8 luxo-barge that it was originally intended to be. Flagship luxury sedans have become really odd though. You've got the 7-series that looks like an army tank, the S-class whose interior looks like a tacky Vegas casino, and now this LS trying to be a sport sedan. Weird times we live in. The automotive symbols of affluence just seem so unclassed and undignified nowadays, which I find odd. Maybe it's a difference between new money versus old money.
Well at least they have their respective niches covered. And I think it’s just a matter of being with the times and reflecting the target markets they’re in. @@grisa12345 Ok and Tesla also had major major issues that continue today.Vehicle catching fire, autopilot issues, software update issues & also some interior quality issues that at the current asking price shouldn't be an issue but it is because of growing pains trial by "fire" the crawl before you walk scenario. Kia keeps it simple but sophisticated especially with the K900 & their latest EV EV6 plus with their industries best warranty 5yr or 60,000 limited warranty/10yrs or 100,000 on power train you can actually relax much easier. But to each his own, that's why they have numerous amounts of automobiles to choose from my friend.
Would you rather get this or a used BMW M8 Grand Coupe for around the same price?? This is a nice car but I’d take the M8. It’s more updated and more power!
Lexus is far better, and German cars are endless money pits
@@GeoBob-xf3hh True 👋
I would rather have a LC500 with less headaches.
If you don't care about the newest tech and plan on keeping the car this is the perfect alternative to the germans.
DONT GROW UP ! Have fun YOLO
Great review of a great car ..& your French aint bad either 😅 ("Ladies & Germs".....thats straight out of The GOONS....... with Harry Secombe) 😅😅😅
Will pick one up in 5 years or so when it’s significantly cheaper 😊
Nathan never grow up! Don't listen to the old farts!
Make my LS in Nori Green with a buckskin tan interior and I think I will drive it to my grave ☠️💀
I'd rather get 540i instead. Same kind performance better fuel consumption. Better looking. Better price. So many better.
But it’s 30k more than its stablemate ES which itself is a good car and comfortable. So hard to justify this one even at its bargain price. That’s probably why in 9 months driving a lot on the interstates in Florida I’ve only seen one.
It's just not as luxurious as the S Class or A8.
Too bad it’s so slow compared to the competition
Love this car, but I'm unable to appreciate the tail lights. It reminds me too much of an Altima. The old tail lights were better looking imo.
That said I do want Toyota to bring over the Century as their or Lexus’ flagship. Will never buy one but just seeing more of them would make me smile.
@@ALMX5DP I agree. I think they're covering their demographics and it's reflective of the times we live in. I just find it sad and uncompelling that this is what affluence looks like today.
And that change of course is in part why it doesn't sell anymore. The interior is tight, the ride isn't as smooth as before and the loss of the V8 all caused people to walk. They made a critical error in leaving the previous LS460 on the market for so long allowing the competition to leave them behind by a generation. They may as well do what Audi is doing with the A8, make the next LS an EV an just start over.
The Genesis G90 is a traditional luxury vehicle. However, I personally still like the LS500.
@@350zlover2 I totally forgot about the G90. It's perhaps the most old-school big traditional luxury car around under $100k. A very elegant design. I personally like it, though that enormous Superman grill is kinda gross.
You got it backwards ,the tundra has a Lexus engine.
I think I prefer the Lexus LS over the Toyota Camry I know the Lexus LS is competing against the Mercedes and BMWs but I think the Lexus LS is the nicer looking car then the Camry and it should be for $88,000
امروزه قابل اعتماد بودن یک لاکچری محسوب میشه و نه فقط کیفیت قطعات یا چرم و چوب! لکسوس دمت گرم! ✌🏼👍🏼
Nice car
Oh Lexus...no longer a Baller vehicle Nathan, but thanks for the great video as always.
That 🐻 in the back seat 🤣
Sorry Nathan. The Genesis G90 and S-class are in a different league.
Love it
I hate run-flat tires...
It may go into park automatically when you shut the car off.
Today, it’s irrelevant all the good comments / narrative to a huge audience when it comes to any vehicle with a 60k price tag and over. Let’s be realistic people.
Baller baller!!
This is a RWD right???
Only rwd.
I can’t believe it cost less than the Germans . Crazy
But can I plug in my iPod?
Nathan, you need to answer the question of why, after decades of owner loyalty, no one more loyal than a Lexus owner, then why oh why did that demographic run away? 2022 sales were no more than 280 units/mo in the US. I submit for your consideration "it's the ride." None of the reviewers address the difference between the previous LS generations vs. your 2018-2023? "It's the ride" that the target demographic is using for buy or no buy. The runflats are the reason that buyers have fled. I'm not talking about non-demographic-buyers...they wouldn't be buying anyway. "It's the ride."
Very few billionaires are tall, check it …. So it’s perfect
You were wrong about the new demon being every man's car for the price$100,000 and you're wrong about this one
Why?
@@NathanDAdlen because your saying anybody can afford these vehicles ..and they can't...
@@Ruben-dr4yi Sorry.
@@NathanDAdlen love your videos..I drive over the road and they keep me informed of everything going on in the automotive world..keep up the awesome work buddy..👍
0-60 is not 4.6 seconds. It’s more like 5.2
Far superior to ANY European brand... Also, you will happily still be driving it in 20 years with 250k miles on it!
Seems like a good deal but I can’t afford 88k.
It's crap at $88k. Genesis has several models $15k cheaper with better features. Jaguar F Pace is cheaper and nicer. My sister in law had a LS500 and it was at the dealer getting repairs several times a year.
who the hell thinks spending 80k on a Hyundai makes any logic?
Since when did Lexus cost less than Kia, I meant Huyndai, sorry I mean Genesis.
That sticker price is nothing realistically that’s a 100k car and you know what else’s that I can get from Lexus around that price point an LX, GX or Landcruiser… you have to be crazy to spend that much on just a car….especially from a boss move perspective.
looks like the ES
