  • First, a quick review: Out of the box, it's pretty impressive (the knife, not the sheath) for only about 30USD. But I bought it to try my hand at designing a martial knife that's uniquely "me" and potentially useful for other knife things. So far, so good. Needs further tuning, and definitely a new sheath, but very promising. Also, I think I may need to invest in a proper Boker Applegate Fairbairn.

Mike you turned that knife into a phenomenal Dagger ,your modification skills really excelled and shows your ability with this budget knife that now is as good as a custom.

Fairbairn said that a fighter knife should be heavier in the hand and not being blade heavy.

Yes they over did the sheath , especially with the shoulder holster ,if it was leather it would probably work but the expanding rubber will be a monster try to get that blade out once you start pull and it starts stretching 🤔

I think the longer strap’s loop is for your belt to go through at the back of your pants. Then it comes over your shoulder and along the front of your shirt and clips to the front of your pants. Then you can adjust it to move under the arm if you like

To me, it looks suspiciously like Mtech MT-575 with a different handle and finish. Wouldn’t be surprised at all, if both are made at the same Chinese factory. I do have this “Walther” version and it’s actually pretty solid as a cheap beater. It’s my hiking fixed blade with self defense in mind.

I use the KaBar plastic sheath for their KaBar MK2 or USMC knives and it works perfectly and can usually get them for under $20.00 .

"love, hate relationship " I have many sentiment of that type with Sword manufacturers alike...well done video Michael....there is a sword provider on eBay you happen to recommend....budget price but surprisingly good quality, what is the make and do you recommend them a try?

I don't have the equipment, but if I paid a pro knife sharpener to do those things to the back edge, what do you think it might cost?

Everyone knowing the Boker AF dagger has this in mind first when seeing the Walther p99. You prooved that the blades back has enough material to grind the spear point blade correctly as well as the center line. Serations suck a bit for me but welding on a hardened blade to get rid of these is just a bad idea and anealing / quenching again would somehow be too much for the little walther. Decission made, will order a couple of these and look how they work out with walnut handle and some nice sheet. Sir, why are you always touching your edge with your thump? That scares me. Must be really dull not to cut your thumb or your thumb is some Tony Stark feature...

Have you tried the John Ek Commando Model 4 by Ka-Bar? They go for about £136 here in England.

It's been my experience over the years that most Gerber and CRKT products inevitably turn out to be disappointments. The Walther P99 Tactical knife turned out to be also. The sheath is horrible and the blade steel being 440C is just trash. I had one that was included in a swap deal and ended up giving it to my nephew as a starter knife for his fixed blade collection. The Glock field knife and sheath are much better quality and ergos for just a few dollars more
