Like the vid guys. It keeps independent channels like this goin so we can see consistent builds like this. The man used the lawnmower to tow the ram 😆. 5.7 swap my vote
Myself personally, I believe in keeping special edition vehicles with their original engine, or at least the same even if not the original. I have two Dakota R/Ts and as much as I love the Hellkota @boostedmotorsports I would have never done that to an R/T. I actually want to find a Crew Cab in blue to do a hemi swap with, but I have my work cut out for me with two R/Ts. Hey, maybe I should start my own UA-cam channel!😊
I'd honestly keep the 5.9 and build it. You keep saying you have tons of 5.9 content. I don't think you have enough. and you keep saying no matter what the magnums are slow. Sometimes it's not about being the fastest. Its about doing what we love with mopar stuff. I think you have ALOT of hemi content. Time to do more magnum content for us magnum lovers. A stroked 5.9/408 can produce over 500 horsepower. I'm building one now with nitrous
I really hope this thing stays period correct/oem+ being a 90s truck. Not enough people are doing builds like that, especially on 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 1500 trucks.
Been waiting for this. Keep the 5.9 warmed over with a cam and more free flowing heads.4.11 gears out back. And different intake but keep it stock looking.
It’s a shame to see a truck like that, that someone invested so much time money and pride into fall so far. Glad to see it in good hands again and excited to see what you’ll build with it.
My pops has an Indyram, 1996 1500 special edition pace truck that Indianapolis speedway commissioned dodge to make commemorating the Viper that ran, and also the truck series they did that year. Its pretty sick. Has the same motor and trans combo as the SS/T, the indyram set the bar for those trucks to be built I.E Tighter swaybars, the HO 360 magnum, and the Aluminum custom made wheels. Neat trucks. I wanna restore his too.
RESTORE IT! I have almost exactly the same truck exvept mine is a 95. It would be nice to see a restored SST back on the road. Those 5.9s with a cam and intake manifold can really wake that thing up and would be badass. 5.7 doesnt have torque like that 5.9. I have an 04, 08, 17 and 21 ram and i would never get rid of my 5.9.
Dude, seriously, your garage is amazing, I´m a huge mopar fan and right now I´m working on a 1995 Ramcharger, mexican version with the 5.9 Liter and I´m taking a lot of ideas of your channel. Hope you put the original 5.9 on these rare Ram, get it back to life and give the touch you put in your other mopar´s.
I miss my SS/T, was my play around daily driver in college. Unfortunately, someone else decided I didn't need it anymore and rear ended me in 2015, totaling out my truck. Was such a fun truck...
As much as id love to see a hemi in that truck, I think you should keep the 5.9, I know it isn't the best motor but to me it sounds pretty good mainly because i used to have a 2nd gen and it sounded sick with the right exhaust. Not to mention only 20k original miles. Totally up to you though man.
Depending on the condition of the 5.9, I’ll wait to comment on which engine. I say if it’s still good then leave the 5.9 in it!!! Can’t wait for this build as usual!!!
My dad has a 96 Daytona pace care edition with the 5.9 he just recently made it twin turbo. Its in drivable condition at this moment but still has a ways to go to be complete but non the less it's different in my opinion that's what makes it cool. You should keep it original and go with the 5.9
Love your craftsmanship. So honestly anything you choose would be rad. I think 🤔 that viper engine in it with a true 6 speed on the floor. Good ol rig. I'd bye that for Trx price. Honestly enjoy the builds. Stay blessed
Back in 2005 A high school friend of mine had one of these 97's in the same color scheme. Really sharp truck, got lots of attention and boy did the ladies love it.
Hey I’ve had 2 of these trucks over the years, both blk/sliver. Always had trans issues with them. I love this build. Hard to say 5.7 vs the 360. I’m gonna stay tuned! Might just get another one!
Magnums are an awesome engine, but like that Hemi you have sitting in there would be a sweet swap over. I’ve personally not seen anyone in UA-cam do that yet…
My '97 blk/slv SS/T still runs like a top with almost 230k on it. The 'bama sun has done a pretty good number on it tho lol Mine is all factory tho and was never thrashed at a drag strip ;)
What a shame for that truck to look like it does now. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T that I bought brand new. It has a little under 65,000 original miles. It has all of the options (AM/FM/CD/cassette, heated power mirrors, gray leather seats, rear sliding window, faux woodgrain dash) you could get on one except for the trailer towing package and suregrip rearend. It was sitting on the showroom floor the day I went to see if they had a Dakota R/T in yet. I took my SS/T for a spin and fell in love. It was sitting in my garage the next day. They had a white one that was identical to my truck except for the exterior color. I had my choice and chose black. I have babied mine since new. I have never used it as a truck, so it still has a virgin bed. I know of one other SS/T that rivals (probably nicer than mine) my truck's condition, but it's in Pennsylvania. I'm in the middle of doing the intake manifold plenum repair. Most every SS/T I see around Middle Tennessee is in rough shape. Most people who own them don't realize they have a special edition pickup. It saddens me to see them in bad condition. I say you restore this truck to original condition. Yeah, you can get more bang for your buck with a Hemi swap, but these trucks are pretty rare. You could get 350-400 horsepower out of a 5.9 Magnum if you did aftermarket heads, cam, intake, headers, etc. It would make for a decently quick pickup. I don't need mine to be fast because I have other cars for that.
I own a 5.2 99 ram 1500 and I’ve been waiting for these vids to see what my truck could take ever since you first posted the 2nd gen but now I say 5.7 swap bc I rlly am curious to see how it would run with the 5.7. I’ve owned a charger rt with 22s so it lugged like my truck but it definitely still responds better to my heavy foot
throwing a 5.7 in it and just having a built 5.7 in the older body style would be sick especially with all the hellcat trucks and srt10 truck a built 5.7 would be a nice addition to the channel
I’d say if you do the 5.9 then see if it is a 408 and if so fix it and supercharge it. If you go 5.7 then same bolt ins and supercharge it. Also like to see and know if a 6 or 8 speed trans would bolt up or could be modified to fit the 5.9?
Throw the 5.7 Hemi in and restore to factory. There's enough power in the 5.7 which is an upgrade for the year. Keep up with the videos. Awesome content.
Man do I have a soft spot for the late 90s early 2000's Daimler Chrysler era of products. This truck is super cool!! Also since you're such a dodge fan, I think it would be cool to hellcat swap a Dodge Intrepid? I think it would be cool.
Personally, a mild build 5.7 hemi swap would be my choice. Even a carbed modern 5.7 for ease of swap lol tho obviously you have friends in the programming and tuning fields. No matter what, I know you'll make it sick!
they modded that flexplate to fit that high stall torque converter, probably had to open the holes up a bit for the larger lands and bolts :) Someone definitely spent some good money on that 360! Those tri-y headers werent cheap
Either 5.7 with a piston swap to get that top ring down for max boost or the magnum with some of the new TrickFlow heads. I don't care as long as you build it for the track. I got excited for a minute when I thought I saw Race Truck on the thumbnail. Hellcat blower swapped 5.7 would be real cool.
Magnum with either TFS or AFR 195 Heads are wicked (can't remember which one sells Ford and which one has the Mopar lol). Saw them tested on engine masters, made a great change in flow..
I’m curious how he likes that ecoDiesel, around @3:08 it seems to be having a little trouble there. I bought a 2nd gen that size to pull the 5speed, it had the wheel bearing an all missing on the pass side front, my 90 2.9 Ranger didn’t have any problems dragging that 3wheel Dodge plow, so I’m curious how i the eco pulls
I think the 5.9 should definitely stay in the truck just refreshed if possible. Just does the back of the engine have a spot for the crank position sensor. Just wondering if it's possibly an la block with magnum heads on it.
I got a 2nd gen 1500 sport with the off-road kit and the availability for parts is thin unless I'm looking in the wrong places, typically found used parts not to mention
I would like to see this truck restored to factory looks, enginewise though depends how bad that engine is and the hemi maybe the easiest and fastest of solutions.
Sheeesh just do the 5.7 . I feel you will have to deal with a lot of wiring that can be going bad nuts and all those things that are rusted . Definitely paint wise original with original interior as well would be dope!
I wonder if that’s a built Sharadon performance transmission. One of the first performance shops to build and race 03/04 rams. As always, another great video!
Would you be interested in sailing that truck body as is without the engine.& Transmission in it right now? Unless your trying to fix that truck backup again instead.
Bring it back to as original as possible. It would be a nice truck for your collection!👍 either way I'm sure you will make it awesome 👌 keep up the great work.🍻😃
Like the vid guys. It keeps independent channels like this goin so we can see consistent builds like this. The man used the lawnmower to tow the ram 😆. 5.7 swap my vote
Haha thanks brother 💪🤘
You do, anything special done.
Honestly, I think seeing that thing back in its original condition would be badass.
It’s tempting believe me
my buddy pulled the 5.9 out and put a 5.9 cummins in
Myself personally, I believe in keeping special edition vehicles with their original engine, or at least the same even if not the original. I have two Dakota R/Ts and as much as I love the Hellkota @boostedmotorsports I would have never done that to an R/T. Hey man I have a 98 SST and I really need a guide on modding it
I have a 02 dodge Dakota RT. I'm going for fastest stock 5.9 Dakota R/t. Well stock engine anyway. But all motor no adders
Keep the 5.9 in it, a truck like this deserves to be kept in original condition
I really hope this thing stays period correct/oem+ being a 90s truck. Not enough people are doing builds like that, especially on 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 1500 trucks.
Take a look at mine a lot went into my build but had from new and just a little here and a little there and bingo 😉👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
It will forever be the Dodge Ram to me!
Been waiting for this. Keep the 5.9 warmed over with a cam and more free flowing heads.4.11 gears out back. And different intake but keep it stock looking.
5.7 hemi would be cool
Back to original with only 21K original miles .... thats got to be worth a lot and its a rare truck... somebody obviously loved it.
When 25 years ago lol my 95 looks just like this one and I've beat the hell outta it for 20 years now lol
It’s a shame to see a truck like that, that someone invested so much time money and pride into fall so far. Glad to see it in good hands again and excited to see what you’ll build with it.

Keep the 5.9 and then do a full restore on it. Rare find with that low miles
Like them 2nd gen Dodge Rams especially the sport & ss/t models. That have the V8 Magnum engines. 😎
I believe Dodge made a concept 2nd gen Ram with a viper srt-10 engine. Looks just like the SS/T...
As much as I like all vehicles of all makes and all kinds. The 2g Ram is my favorite.
The subtle differences from the 99 & up sport front bumper and grille makes a huge improvement on the 2nd gens looks. I'd say go for it!
That’s the bumper we have that I took out of the bed if we decide to use it 👍
Get it lookin' like the SRT10 a bit, make it a nice street beast and it's nice the regular cabs are gettin' some love.Keep the 5.9.
Wow guy, that’s one heck of a find, congratulations. I will subscribe and keep watching progress, hope you restore it.
Dude, seriously, your garage is amazing, I´m a huge mopar fan and right now I´m working on a 1995 Ramcharger, mexican version with the 5.9 Liter and I´m taking a lot of ideas of your channel.

Id love to see a 410 stroker. Paxton supercharger. You should be able tp get that north of 800hp
I like your cleanliness
💪
i can’t wait to see this build get started!

Just when I thought you had my favorite collection already, you done did it again
Love your craftsmanship.

I would go with a full restoration to its former glory, ice white with blue stripes and if possible, with the original engine.
5.7 cammed. lumpy. replace the lights and leave the paint as it is. the sun damaged paint is awesome. maybe update the interior to 4th gen leather?
5.7 hemi bro... im super excited for this build bro
id kind of like to see a 5.9, mostly because i really want an rt dakota now but hey shove a 5.7 in. v10 would be wack too
Back in 2005 A high school friend of mine had one of these 97's in the same color scheme. Really sharp truck, got lots of attention and boy did the ladies love it.

Damn John what a find! Obviously you should go crazy.
if that's a 727 trans it's worth rebuilding. Those are great for drag racing.
They are great period. I have 8 sitting in the barn
@@Welcometofacsistube you have 8 ??? are you collecting them ?? or rebuilding them
@@sunshinesallday 7 big blocks, 3 small blocks and 2 slants sit in my barn too
@@Welcometofacsistube nice collection. All the best.
Go crazy with it! 5.7 HEMI!
Use the 8.0L V10 from Viper
What was the solution to the Vibration issue that you had on the Dakota?
Finally, some John Deere mower content!! Ya toss in the hemi but please rebuild that magnum and raffle it off👍
HEMI Swap it Please!! This is going to be a great project!

I am just a little outside Jax and have an M1, RT heads, a few cams and quite a bit of magnum parts if you are looking for anything.

90s and early 2000s chrysler anything was awesome
Love these kinds of videos...
Thumbs Up.!
Finally dropping that second gen content 🔥🔥2GENRAM community hoping that thang get a kitty in there 🔥
Cool build! For sure restore it and make it a sleeper with a hellcat
Hey curious, chrome mirrors were not optional on ss/t ?? Rare brown interior. Good luck. Drop in a 392 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏
Yeah It had the tan/brown interior with the wood grain on the build sheet when I ran it. I kinda wanna change it but maybe should leave it
@@BoostedMotorsports I have a 98. Am can't wait to see you build it. And maybe use your expertise as a model. Thanks. Look forward to the build.
Daily muscle truck?
Whenever you can show some love for the SRT-10 Ram,haven't really did anything with it since you towed the HellKota back from Texas.
Make it a 408 stroker

they modded that flexplate to fit that high stall torque converter, probably had to open the holes up a bit for the larger lands and bolts :) Someone definitely spent some good money on that 360! Those tri-y headers werent cheap
I’m planning on swapping a gen 3 Hemi in mine so would love to see it done and what issues you had to work around.
Yeeeeeuh buddy🔧👍ay rams will forever be Dodge.
Hemi Swap! I am in the process of getting parts together for my Hemi swap in my 95 Ram Sport RCSB.

Absolutely love this truck! ua-cam.com/video/fXgPee-9ctc/v-deo.html
I say Hemi swap it, save the Magnum for a different build. Probably save money on the trans too.
I have a ninety seven sst. Love this truck
If you do a paintjob destroyer grey (paint code: PDN) Would look so clean and sick. Maybe Black racing stripes over the grey?
I have a single cab 2nd gen & would love to see the gen 3 hemi swap
I'm down for whatever as long as it stays mopar 🤘 But in my opinion if you go with the 5.7l hemi I think you should build it into a stroker.
I think the 5.9 should definitely stay in the truck just refreshed if possible. Just does the back of the engine have a spot for the crank position sensor. Just wondering if it's possibly an la block with magnum heads on it.
Restore it! I would either restore it with the 5.9 or go all-out and put the viper V10 with a manual (any gen).
I got a 2nd gen 1500 sport with the off-road kit and the availability for parts is thin unless I'm looking in the wrong places, typically found used parts not to mention
I bought a 98 SST brand new. It was red with the silver stripes. Good luck with the restoration.🎃
I would like to see this truck restored to factory looks, enginewise though depends how bad that engine is and the hemi maybe the easiest and fastest of solutions.

The writing on it does start with a S but I can’t make out what it says. Did they build transmissions and paint them red?
Keep the magnum make it reach it potential!!!👍👍
Keep the 5.9 and rebuild,Would love to see what u do with that 5.9
Swap that ACR and then put that V10 in that bad boy 😅
That 5.7 would be perfect for that body!
GEN3 Hemi swap the SST for the win !!!
I think the 5.9 magnum should go in it since there’s already 2 hemi trucks, and because it’s a rare truck
5.9 period correct! It’ll be a beauty.
I AGREE! Hands Down
I’d like to see it restored to original, happy for new engine etc, greetings from Australia
Have you thought of using a 488 with a nv5600?
5.9 boosted! 👌🏼
I'd love to see this thing be resto-modded, as in putting the magnum back in with the mods it had previously if not modernizing it a bit.
I'd still like to see the v10 out of your viper. Then you could be lined up for the swap in that and you would have a vintage if you will srt10
Would you be interested in sailing that truck body as is without the engine.& Transmission in it right now? Unless your trying to fix that truck backup again instead.
5.7 hemi swap + turbos! Hellion turbo kit.
Bring it back to as original as possible. It would be a nice truck for your collection!👍 either way I'm sure you will make it awesome 👌 keep up the great work.🍻😃
5.7 hemi + cam and tune.
Cam up the 5.7 Hemi, bolt on build. I’m wanting to hemi swap my Dakota RT, and 5.7’s are way cheaper than 6.4’s.
I love the 5.9 but I would also love to see a built 5.7 in it too so I vote hemi!! Maybe even a 6.4 hemi I've only seen 1 guy do it
Sounds like you're leaning more toward the Hemi than you are the Magnum
