C &D tested it. 0 to 60 in 3.6 quarter in 12.1. Was gonna get an 2022 RS3. Long wait and 10k more. Almost identical performance. M240i for the win.

    You, Sir, are a sight for sore eyes on an otherwise boring saturday. Great video as always.
    Pleasantries aside, the front of this car doesn't do it for me as much as the rest of it, not to a degree where it'd keep me from owning this car, though. I don't see it become a future classic since I think it's a bit too contemporary for that, however it's a very smart looking design that is sure to turn a few heads on the streets, particularly in that shade of purple. The rest of the car speaks for itself anyways.

      Not only is it amazing that this car exists during crossover era as BMW cut ICE production in half for 25 neu EV, it's the basis for last ICE M2, so give it time & as last of it's kind turbo I6 it will be appreciated, most BMWs are not when new, but price them decades later, 507 auctions for million$ because BMW couldn't sell them when new.

    Owned an OG M2 and now a CS; this is a refreshing car, but personally I’m not a huge fan of the styling. The increased weight is a big concern as well being 400 lbs heavier than the manual original M2 and 300lbs. heavier than the CS. Albeit the CS gets a lower center of gravity. Just not enough for me to even remotely feel the urge to switch. Great video thank you!

      Well needless to say, I'm super jealous, the M2 is up there with my favorite cars I have to say, and back in 2019, I really wanted to buy one, but I ended up going for the 230i instead. At the time I couldn't quite afford the M2, and the M240i would have been on the edge of affordability, but since then my career has taken a bit of a positive turn, so now I'm in the position of being able to afford one, but they stopped making them and I'd have to wait until 2023, or, go for the new M240i, which I have to say is winning me over. But the M2 is a beautiful car, you have excellent taste.

    • @Dgadude
      @Dgadude 2 роки тому +4

      More initial bite at turn-in on the G42, a little less shock bound on loading and overall a softer delivery. Definitely feels like there’s more lateral acceleration on the skid pad, it’s noticeable. Trans is smoother, I don’t know why he said it felt like a DCT it definitely does not. Torque converter bites early off the line just like in the M5 but shifts are aggressive at higher RPM which might be what he meant. 48 V electric assist is not present on the B58 in this car so there is a little bit more lag between gears than the 340 on acceleration but very little. This also means downshifts take maybe a 10th of a second extra in the lower gears. Under hard braking it feels a little more disconnected than its predecessor as it has, night and day, significantly less NVH but definitely stops harder and has more bite, less take-up. Wishbone oscillations have been perfectly tuned out compared to the previous model. Torque vectoring is much better on this car and has more authority at the rear with larger tires to help keep the front rotating nicely. Steering ratio is very direct but not overkill. Significantly larger on the inside, feels like a G20 and overall you have to remind yourself you are in a two series until you turn and the wheelbase reminds you by itself.
      I work for the brand.

      @Dgadude 2 роки тому +2

      @@darrell9616 sure thing. They definitely have. I think they learned their lesson with the previous because they essentially shortened the wheelbase of the F30 and didn’t significantly re-engineer bound/rebound figures so it was pretty much just left to weight and inertia to sort out. This has a lot of G 20 in it but chassis is much more torsionally rigid and the suspension has been properly retuned so the only travel you have is virtually just at the shocks as it should be. The F 22 felt more alive in a straight line but for the wrong reasons with more NVH, less damping and with borrowed arms from the F30s, they left no extra room for deeper ET’s up front plus they didn’t account for the difference in pitch/heave of the shorter wheelbase hence the understeer problem. You’ll definitely love the G42. It’s a little softer around the edges but they fixed all the annoyances of its previous sibling. Also much more daily drivable with the added room and the retuned x-drive finally isn’t brain dead when it comes to corner exit.
