I don't dislike the looks. It sounds great, performs great, drives great, is comfortable and relatively practical, delivers on quality, and all that at what is in 2022 a bargain price. I think the styling is very mature and will grow on people. And personally, I think it needs to be ordered in a proper colour. The early press cars were in a metallic dark purple, and I think it looks much better in such a colour. Of course, silver is a very practical colour, and if you don't have undercover parking, it hides the dirt better than almost any other colour. Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinions and if you really think it's ugly, then you probably shouldn't buy one. But, for the money, I'm not sure what else is out there that ticks so many boxes and isn't just another also ran.
I test drove one and really fell in love. In person it is much nicer! The dark purple color really didn't do it for me so I actually ordered a metallic white 2023 M240i xdrive with a dark brown interior, really gorgeous. I was surprised how good the car sounded. It really changes a lot in sport+ mode. As you said, not a lot of cars out there that check so many boxes and aren't at least 80k. With some exterior mods, better wheels (i like black wheels on a white car) and mild drop it will make me a happy owner. Hope to see mine arrive in 2 months from now as I've been waiting almost 2 months.
Pretty much agree with you but the looks have grown on me , I have ordered one & should have it in October, to me the sport/comfort dynamics & relative practicality of the car Is perfect for what we need . It means my partner can use it as her daily for 99% of the time all year for work with X drive and I can just press mad mode when I use it now and again and I don’t need a garage queen fast car sat in the garage for sunny days .
I recently collected a M240i xDrive in Brooklyn Grey, to help the looks I did add the M Performance carbon-kit. The car I traded in for this was a Ford Mustang S550 GT (5.0l V8) in Grabber Lime with an upgraded exhaust and CAI - so around 450bhp. After one week of ownership of the M240i, I can honestly say I miss the Mustang, it was a head turner. That said the M240i is quicker to 60mph, and is absolutely glued to the road, and surprisingly I have had a smattering of people turn their heads at it, but no where near as much as I did with the Mustang. Having taken work colleagues for a run out in the BMW they ask me whether I'm happy with it, and my answer is, 'errrmm I guess' .. I know the M240i is quicker, handles better and is probably a little more frugal with fuel, but when you push it hard through the twisties, there is just no drama, it laps it up and handles it fine ... with the Mustang, you knew and felt every inch of road you went over because you had to think about every inch of road. I will say, I think the frontend feedback is lacking in the M240i ... maybe in a couple of years i'll be back to the Mustang!! LOL - who knows!!
I own a BG full spec for almost 3 months now and absolutely love everything about it . Always looking for the long drive instead of short cuts lol. I personally love the looks and get compliments pretty much everywhere I go. Spot on review you’ve done in the short period you’ve had it that is exactly like mine after 2300 miles and about 90 days . I personally like the looks all the way around on every angle but that just my opinion . Anyway great review and thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👊🏻
Looks have definitely grown on me. The tail lights are kind of weird but better than what they've done to some of their other models. Would definitely consider if I could get away with just two doors.
in black, blue or purple the car looks so much better.Despite the ridiculous weight gain,it's a great performing car.If they release the rwd variant i'm selling my f22 and getting one
I would prefer a 4-door with more room in the back seat but I find the 330i much more plain and boring than the M240i having a more muscular look. I could get a 430i for the same price range as the M240i to have maybe a little more room in back (?) but the front grill is uglier than the M240i and you take a performance hit 0-60 on the 430i. So, it's not perfect in looks but I find the M240i the better car over the non-M 3 and 4 series. Enjoyed your review.
I don’t like the 2023 vs. 2022. You lose all the manual climate controls, gear shifter knob, and that screen with no dome doesn’t feel sporty to me…they should’ve waited until 2024
I bought mine new 2 months ago and obviously I like the look of it. I accept there are prettier cars out there but as an all round package I think it’s unbeatable for the money. It’s brilliant to have fun with on country roads but is also a great daily sitting in traffic to and from work. In Eco pro I get 37mpg but that becomes 43mpg on a motorway. Sport plus is about 25mpg.
Just collected mine today, agree on everything said, cant help but smile when driving it, wether stuck in traffic on the way to work or twisty Welsh roads :)
Took a look at an M240i this week, and figured yeah this is worth going too. When i looked at insurance i had a heart attack. I have a 2018 M240i right now.
@@benjones7117 I'm not 100% myself but I thought I read/hear it somewhere that doesn't if it does use the ZF8 box it's much better for daily driving as it's smoother n more reliable than an dual clutch
Good vid, at least it was actually a car vid & not just sales & advertising….. Genuinely hope it continues. He makes THE best car vids when he does them. Fingers crossed for more !!!!!
5 out of 10 for looks you need your eyes checked dude! It’s actually one of the best looking BMW’s right now in the 1-4 series range. It’s a little retro based on the BMW 2002
I don’t think it looks as bad in person as you make out, that’s obviously my opinion against yours, I haven’t driven one yet but it just seems so big. The original M240i or M235i will go down as a modern classic one day because just as bmw were getting too big and everyone else was down sizing to a 2.0l engine, the M235i was a breath of fresh air.
Haven’t driven one of these in Canada yet but looking out for a pre owned one as a second family car. I think similar to the uk it would be a perfect daily drive in Canada. Looks wise I don’t mind it but our main car is a 2019 GLA45 and that is a pretty ugly car. What I don’t like is the digital dash and rear lights, everything else is fine to me. That in-line 6 motor is pretty unbeatable. Wish it had a manual option though.
Comparing a Golf Gti is laughable, complete rubbish compared to a m240i. Every person who has seen my car which is identical to this one says its awesome , beautiful, and are envious.
I personally think they look fine, maybe not pretty as such and maybe the lines don't flow seamlessly but I love that flat bonnet bulge. If I had decent money on me I think I'd have one unquestionably. They tick many boxes.
I had a test drive recently in a 2023 M240i Xdrive with the intention of placing an order…….but after noticing the hard, scratchy black plastic interior door panels I’ve decided to look at an alternative. It is not OK to have such cheap nasty plastic trim in a £55,000 car. No other BMW model has such cheap trim!
No one thinking that they are just inflating prices and disguising it in a finance pack … you must be mad to pay 50k for that 😂 all cars are going up in price granted doesn’t mean you have to pay it and justifying it is even harder 😂 imagine the depreciation hit if you went in and bought it out right, can see the banks turning their heads soon because defaulting on a loan their ain’t no way their recouping money back on these over priced cars
I had the old 240 and as soon as I heard about this I have to get one. Sure some people will say something about the looks but they usually know nothing about cars and could never afford this. The looks actually grow on me and when you’re behind the wheel of the perfect car, who gives a crap what it looks like on the outside! I think being the ugly duckling actually shows that you know your cars if you but one of these. Sold
No interior shots! Long time viewer and want to see you kick on like STG and Shmee and do well...please just put a little more effort and planning into your videos as content like this is a real turn off
So this must not say much for Tesla owners then…got to be the ugliest line up of vehicles I’ve ever seen! I would be devastated if I had to look in my driveway and any model Tesla sitting there. So I think that puts a better perspective on how I would feel bout having 1 of these in the driveway, soooo much better!
It’s only your opinion on the looks and lm in the opposite corner on this subject- l think it looks great !! We should applaud car companies for trying different styles unlike 🥱🥱🥱VW Golf R and Audi RS3 now that’s fuc..ng BORING !! Ps l don’t own one of these BMs by the way 😁

Even better in the flesh
Similar price bracket to the new Audi RS3 and more people will be buying the RS3 over the M240i
@@lewisk112 Last time I looked the RS3 was circa 10K more expensive than a fully-loaded M240i xDrive.

@Sevan ordered mine in June and the dealer indicating Jan/Feb. 😢
I actually think it looks good. As with most bmw design language, it’s a grower. The rear is still a bit meh but it’s fine in a darker colour.
It‘s fine in a darker color at night 😁
The M-Performance carbon spoiler pretty much transforms the rear into a decently looking one - it gives off M4 CSL duck tail boot vibes.
@@radupiscanu1299 yeah, auto id’s and motech’s demo cars look a lot better

After seeing the prototype M2 pics...this 240 will become the m2
Eh? This is the BMW that you're calling out as ugly? It's quite good looking. Not amazing, but pretty good.
Love your stuff but this video was way to short. Lets have a proper look. What was the boot like ? What were the rear seats like ? More detail please.
I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about it. I just ordered one.
I bought one Paul and your right , from some angles it looks odd but other aspects it really looks stunning (especially with the bigger boot spoiler)
I think it’s amazing BMW brought this kind of car to market. It’s a AWD luxury coupe starting around 50k (USD).
I like the interior improvements over the 2021 version. Just don't like the exterior at ALL. I bought one of the last made 2021s from factory.
I'm going to trade in my 2017 for this one, but I kinda like the new 2023 m240i better since it has an updated interior

Just get a second hand M2 with change for that money 😏
But then you’d have a used M2 with questionable miles on it. You know it was abused and while knows if they even did a proper break in.

Just better overall than the RS3.
Looks better from front, hate the rear end, it’s as bad as the q2
Stylingwise, it seems that the Bangle angular design is back.
I'd love it in black or the purple and I would keep it standard. Maybe just change the exhaust but nothing else 👍
The taillights are awful but I like the car very much

Loving your new type of reviews. The price range and type of thinking.
If BMW would offer more color options, it would already help a lot… anyway, I think I’d get an Alpine A110 instead, the only problem is storage space.
