My girlfriend has never watched Game of Thrones so we've decided to watch the series together!

Sweetie. Theon went out with friggin honor. He killed a crap ton of walkers, and then became the only man in this battle to be personally taken out by the Night King himself. And Bran knew what Theon would do (not as the Three Eyed Raven, but as a person who knows Theon and what Theon would do to prove himself one last time). He knew that Theon was about to die, and he gave him the words he needed to hear. To hear from Bran, of all people, that he was a good man, was what he really needed to hear before he died. That he's finally redeemed himself after everything he's been through. Theon is my boi, I am a Theon stan and I will die on this hill. 😂

Watching her complaining from beginning about how she should control that war. Like I am watching soccer or football complaining how they should play 😂. I love it

I feel her. This is my least favorite GOT episode. All the hype... and flop, fell on it's face. Waiting for zombies and men to mix, than burning them all together? WTF? Killing the little girl in battle? You can't send a 9 year old into battle no matter strong willed she is, WTF? And why kill off all the Mormonts, they were some of the coolest charter on the show.
Such shit lighting, I had to change the settings to see anything. Hiding the women and kids in a god dammed crypt with the dead, so the Withe King could rise them. WTF? IF the entire show hat been as sloppy and stupid as this episode, no one would have watch GOT. It's the smart writing that made this show, except in this episode and a couple of others.

The reason why they weren’t using the dragons as much was they knew that the Night King had his own dragon.
That was their priority, to be on the lookout for that because he can do the same thing Taylor wanted Jon and Daenarys to do (burn everything ASAP).
The Night King was doing the same thing, instead of focusing on the soldiers he was aiming for the dragons.
If the Night King didn’t have a dragon, Jon and Daenarys would 100% have focused on the ground battle a lot more.

Omg, Taylor’s rants during this whole episode and afterwards was the icing on the cake lmaoo! Trust me girl, mad people had these same reactions. This was both a good episode in terms of directing and a head scratcher at the bad writing.
My favorite part is when that 1 dark blob did something to that other dark blob.
I can't believe we're almost to the end! I love Lyanna Mormont going out like a real queen! RIP Theon. I think he had the best redemption arc in the whole series. I'm excited to watch more things with y'all after this is over!
Theon went and had a whole redemption arc before dying protecting Bran. You gotta put some respect on him and his death. That much was well done.

I'm going to defend Danny because the plan they had was not to use the dragons until the night king appeared, she decides to use them when she sees that the Dothraki are destroyed and Jon tries to stop her, if not for her they would not have done anything with the dragons which is absurd, well almost the entire plan is absurd
The whole plan was stupid just like how they went to the wall to get a wight. I don’t get how people defend the last two seasons with the bad writing

I never viewed it as Bran telling Theon to do that. He knows Theon is about to do it, and he wants to give him some peace after years of tormenting himself for the things he did wrong. I know a lot of people hate enlightened Bran, but maybe there are benefits of a calm person not driven by emotional responses.

There target was the Knight King because if they killed him all the dead would die as simple as that,and the dead was raised in the crypt I don’t think they made it in there unless I’m mistaken.
Bran warging into the Night King or one of the white walkers would have been something I wouldn’t have minded honestly 😂💯

It's Lord of Light, not the Lord of THE Light. Only the wights(foot soldiers) can be killed by fire, and WWS "kill" fire just by being near it.😊
I mean after him watching it MULTIPLE times I was getting irk'd by it too 😂
They should have done three episodes for this: Winterfell, then them LOSING and having to retreat, and the army of the dead ravaging the North, and then a final stand at the Citadel. I mean, if the Night King wanted to end all of history, then the Citadel is the logical destination besides killing Bran.

I feel her.. all her questions were valid and she made great points!!! I can't forget the first time I watched the episode my blood was boiling for 80% of the plot.

While I don't think they had the best strategy at the beginning, if they go towards the army of the Dead with the dragons, they may be greeted with spears from the night king and then they are really screwed with both of their dragons dead and potentially turned.

I always think that the red woman is actually haunted by the terrible things she has done but she always kept going as she could justify them as necessary but now that they have been defeated she doesn't want to live anymore

Yes, Lady Melisandre served her purpose. She was sent to bring Jon Snow back to life. He was the Prince who was promised. Jon was the only one who could get everyone to come together to fight The Army of the Dead and The Night King. And she was important in the fight. She did what she was sent to do by The Lord of Light.

For future reference, turn up the contrast or better yet, usually on most modern tvs there’s a picture function like vivid or dynamic that actually shows this episode pretty good
Get a Oled TV or Monitor then you will be able to see. A regular monitor doesn't show real Black for a night screen. (Once you seen a Oled you can't watch anything on anything else 💯)
Bran didn't tell Theon to go get killed, he was about to get killed regardless. What a weird interpretation of that moment. It was the most human thing Bran has done in years.

This episode is very good and well directed by the very talented Miguel sapochnik who was also directed the Battle of the bastards,your reaction is good but there is something to point out is Tay she's very very chatty she barely saw this episode she didn't feel it all the stuffs going on this episode,the action scene,the music,the plots and final twist.maybe you should feel more the episode in the future if want make a good reaction, just a suggestion not an advice.
No she made logical points good direction but the execution in the writing was flat and predictable.
THE BEAR is a good one to watch! short episodes and only 2 seasons of absolute FIRE television.

She couldn't see in the dark and the dragon was killed by a single spear throw during the day. I would have seated them on the walls with everyone in Winterfell shooting glass arrows and fire. What's left, mop up with Dothraki on horseback with 🔥 swords

Thank you also for giving my girl, Melisandre, some props. She’s my favorite character from the book series. Your analysis is spot on. She’s a misguided anti-heroine sorcereress with a deeply traumatic backstory.
She knows she’s made horrific mistakes. She owns them and knows her ultimate goal is to save the Living vs the Dead.
I cannot wait until GRRM finally finishes the damn books so we can learn more about Asshai (which he said, “would be visited in memory only.”).
She is the “ends justify the means” moral philosophical debate personified.
It’s interesting to view her in a meta lens. She has been alive for 400+ years. She’s possibly seen the Doom of Valyria. She’s hinted at possibly being immortal. Your brain would probably think differently if you saw tens of generations come and go. Wars. Horror. And the entire time, while she misinterpreted her visions - the ultimate goal was realized. She served her Lord.
When Davos gassed her up to resurrect Jon/Aegon, he was spitting facts:
“I’m not asking the Lord of Light for help. I’m asking the woman who showed me that miracles exist.” ❤️🔥
I really do think she was the MVP.
If we’re being real nerdy: The piece that I really hate by D&D… This was THE BATTLE. Why the fuck didn’t we see the entire might of Essos? The Long Night impacted Essos in the books. Where was Kinvara? All the red priestesses and priests? The Fiery Hand army? This plot line needed to be a full season.
Yea I'm sorry but Missandei was 100% correct when she checked Sansas ungrateful self. THE DRAGON QUEEN that you hate on sooo much for absolutely no reason at the moment, is there in YOUR HOME potentially sacrificing her whole army, dragons & herself. Her goals set aside, to defend/fight for your home, family, ETC WITH NO REASSURANCES on her end. & yet not only does she keep this stank ass attitude that she's had with Dany from the beginning but also chooses to throw shade/tlk sideways about her to HER HAND IN FRONT of her best friend & loyal advisor. I for one enjoyed it because somebody needed to check her.
Exactly I don’t get people defending Sansa when if it wasn’t for Dany and her entire army they would be wiped out. And I blame the writers for making the characters like this and it felt like they wanted to make Sansa into this good figure who knows best and is the most competent and everyone else isn’t and D&D admitted she’s their favorite next to Arya. This why you shouldn’t play favorites when you’re adapting from a book but even though the books aren’t finished they could’ve handled it way better but at the end it made no sense and it was just laughable
I agree I think they should have shown more dragon fighting. It was obviously a budget/time constraint. I hate they rushed the ending.
I 100% agree with Tay’s stance on the strategy here. They underutilized the dragons and threw their own people under the bus instead. They should have been the ones to rush in not the Dothraki and the army would be there to pick off anyone who made it through, but they waited for him and his dragon to come to them.
The episode was so poorly lit, Tay hardly even thought to blink an eye at all the violence. Big progress, still!

Jon was gonna fight the Night King but he punked out like a little bitch and raised the dead to shield himself from Jon. The Night King wanted no part of Jon Snow or his valerian steel sword. He saw what Jon did to one of his generals at Hardhome.

bruh joel is so me “oysters, clams and cockles” i say this phrase at least twice a month just randomly.😭😭& they didn’t make it into the crypt there’s dead people buried in the crypt, when the night king resurrected everyone he resurrected everyone buried in winterfells crypt as well and also tbf it makes no sense for them to come at the wights with everything they got, especially in the beginning of the battle, the night king is only aiming for the dragons, they risk losing too much, they held off the dragons as long as they could as they should’ve because risking them was far more dangerous than having people go out there. -also unpopular opinion probably but sam should not have made it through this battle HOW DID HE SURVIVE???😭😭👎🏼

In a few words, the Long Night was the "Short night'! haha. Indeed.
But seriously couldn't agree more with these reactions. Also in terms of strategy and taking advantage of war tactics, its clear to me that Tay has a way better common sense understanding on how much more efficiently they should be using dragons and the cavalry in this episode than the showrunners ever had. In terms of war tactics this was just trash unfortunately just like Bran. It is what it is. But it was an enjoyable ride regardless to reach this far in the story! Cheers guys!

Arya killing the Night king makes no sense .
Night king wasn`t even the main focus of Arya`s entire storyline books or show, it was Bran`s and Jon`s and they got sidelined , that is bad storytelling which is one of the reason this season was objectivley sub par and in some cases just bad, it`s like if Jon were to complete Arya`s list, it makes no sense and the payoff is not there.
The WW were built to be this apocalyptic threat in which westeros needed to come together to make a stand,on top of the episode being poorly shot ,and battle tactics making no sense it honestly fits with the story plots they set up (making no sense) lately that ended up ruining this season.
They(D&D) thought they`re good but it was G.R.R writing all along that carried them, and all the other talented people that worked there, it was clear where this was going once they shut G.R.R out for the last few seasons (maybe cause they had an agenda they wanted to push), it was clear why the writing was on a steady decline ever since, why some character started to do things or act ever so slightly out of character it`s because they simply did not make or understand these charcters to the same degree as the author,and why they thought they could is beyond me, the fame got to their head and it humbled them.
When Jon is staring at the dragon, he sees Arya sneaking by, and he shouts, "GOOOOOO GOOOOO" not just a random scream. He stood up to be burned by the dragon to allow Arya to sneak past.

Faceless mens don't train for being a warrior, they're elite assassins, even Arya supposedly for being a warrior, how long did she? Months? Weeks? Being a good fighter takes years of training w good master, Arya's ninja move to kill the night king was very classic Hollywood nonsense type shit

31:54 - DONT LOSTEN TO HIM TAY! Early on the show made a big deal (in a moment of great peril) revealing that Bran has the ability to Warg into living humans. The next logical progression from there would be speculating that Bran can perhaps Warg into the Night King (or that Arya can steal the face of a Walker and get close enough to win) ect ect
So Tay's ❤ Warg Hypothesis was TOTALLY VALID and actually impressive too. I had never even thought of that, but she's right.

The Hollywood-ization of GOT and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race
Even on first watch this fight was very underwhelming, very uncreative, and had some events that occured making me scratching my head in confusion. They clearly cared about the goal of having "the longest fight in cinema" rather than an actual entertaining battle. I could've written a thousand scripts better than this one. I'm not trying to be that guy but it had to be said.
