He squeezed out more paint than I used in a lifetime. I need to learn to use my art supplies and not be so precious and stingy and afraid. GREAT GENEROUS TUTORIALS. Thank you Andrew!

The limits of common sense: this is indeed the hardest part! The masters, such as yourself always know where the limits are. Great tutorial. Thank you! Looking forward to Part 2.
Another great tutorial, thank you. My goal is to paint skies that might some day resemble yours. You always make it look so easy. I have your book and plan to read it again and highlight things that stood out to me.
❤ Mr. Pitt’s proper foundation principles teaching. TY Mrs. Pitt for the excellent camera work. Windsor & Newton is readily available across the US without having to mail order. I’m glad to be out of the endless buying, high end paint trap when my landscape practice does not include wash work.
Clear acrylic can be tricky to cut. There are usually lots of small businesses that will cut acrylic to your measurements with a laser cutter. Good luck.
You remind me of my art master at school. Very informative and I like that you explain what colours you apply. To me, blue is blue and green likewise and this is why so many of my pictures just look flat. Many thanks.
What grabbed my attention right from the beginning was Andrew Pitt's limited palette. Still a beginner, I fell into the trap of buying way too many tubes, especially if an admired teacher used a particular colour. Learned my lesson the hard (and expensive!) way. I also appreciated the close up shots of paint to water ratio on your brush. Thank you from a new subscriber.
Valuable simple lessons here…if we’d only remember them! Thank you. If I am not going to paint every day, I wrap my palette in a plastic bag then keep it in the refrigerator. This retards drying out and the growing of mold, which some colors do readily.
Goodmorning Mr.Pitt. Congratulations for your lessons very helpful for me. I ask you if it is possible beginng to paint on smaller papers. Even though I think it would be more difficult to transpose the same pictures on a large paper as you do. Thank you.
Thanks for getting in touch. I think it is best to paint the size you are most comfortable with. Then as you become more confident handling large washes gradually increase the size of your paper. www.andrewpitt.co.uk

Dear Andrew, thank you so very much as usual. What sort of brushes do you use? And do you wash them with soap after each and every painting session, or just just rinse in clean water? Thank you!
Most of my brushes are Chinese calligraphy brushes of various types. They were given to me by a student friend who lives in Hong Kong. I usually just rinse my brushes in water and lay flat to dry.
@AndrewPittArtist Thank you so much Andrew. I had found your materials video but these brushes looked like dark hair brushes. I was wondering if you began with synthetic brushes. Now they seem to have replaced sable. That's great. Can one source these Chinese brushes from anywhere? Thank you!!
I’ve found most good art shops sell Chinese calligraphy brushes. I have bought some from shops in the UK. I have a few old mops I use occasionally. All natural hair. I rarely use synthetic brushes, except in very small sizes. Try Jackson’s Art Store, London and/or Rosemary Brushes; both have comprehensive websites
I tried a lot of brands, but every Viridian dried rockhard in just a week. Someone mentioned to me that Viridian is a mineral, and together with Arabic gum it makes a barnstone like mix. Dunno if I ever had a W&N Viridian. I have to look that up. Love your lessons Andrew!
Interesting. Thanks. I’ve not had any problems with W&N tube professional Viridian, so hope you don’t either if you fancy trying it. Thanks for getting in touch. www.andrewpitt.co.uk
@@AndrewPittArtist Thanks, I certainly have to try, because it is one of the only two greens that are genuine! The other is Phthalo Green and that one is synthetic. So of course I like the natural Viridian one more!

@@janerimer6475 Most of my paper is either 200 or 140lb. I never stretch my paper. Not necessary. And my acrylic frame-drawing board is not an alternative to stretching.
Can you spray water on an already dried color in your palette, or put a few drops of water on top and wait for the paint to liquify? I just hate to waste paint and have a lot on the one palette 8 use. Thanks.
Yes, you can spray water on dried paint. It will help soften it, but success depends on how dry the paint is. Don’t be surprised if your paint is too far gone. Best to only squeeze a little out at a time and come back for more.
