    30:47 "then stop, and if you think you're gonna get up to mischief, go on with something else," is the most wonderfully British way to express to not fuss or let perfectionism disrupt the process.
    I've always been curious about watercolor in part because it's great for fighting perfectionism, the beauty is in letting the paint do what it's going to do, and it allows me to let go and relax a bit. Thank you for these wonderful lessons!

    I love your style! A lot of people just keep repainting areas multiple times and doing endless layers, but you manage to do almost everything in the first layer. It is so true that it keeps it looking fresh! I'm integrating this more into my painting now, and the result looks a lot fresher too :) I especially love how you do your skies. So much flow!

    Hi Hello Andrew! I just tuned in to your channel and what a delight to learn from you! Thank you for showing me all the steps you take, including how you set up your paints, water, etc. hardly anyone shows this process. And thank you for taking the time to talk through how you use your brush, not to touch all the buildings with the sky color, not to go over areas twice, how to paint elsewhere in the painting so you don’t go back and fiddle with it!

    Another beautiful masterpiece Andrew. The buildings looked so dark at the beginning but it all came together nicely when you put in the lighter colours around them.

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks. The first marks are always the most difficult because any tone looks too dark when compared to the acres of white paper waiting to be painted. But it is important to allow for this by going a bit darker than usual otherwise you end up having to paint everything again and bang goes the freshness.

      Thanks. My studio paintings are usually done from sketches and memory. Beware of over using photographs. Paint outside as much as possible.

      Thanks for your kind comment. All the demonstrations are studio repeats of watercolours I have painted on site. I used a sketch drawn from the original plein air painting.

      Oh, I might have done. Any small area of intense colour will ‘’sing songs’’ for you when surrounded by more subdued colour. Thanks for taking the trouble to write.

    Excellent tutorial. A rather complicated and difficult picture to paint which you did with considerable ease and expertise. You have mixed fat too many colours all over the work which is very difficult for a beginner like me to follow. Is there a method to.learn this in a simpler way ? Thank you.

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  2 роки тому

      It is not as difficult as it looks. Just keep varying the colour mixtures. There is no particular secret.

    What is the clear device you use to put the watercolour paper in, in the beginning? Is that something you could discuss and demonstrate how we can adapt the same thing?

    thank you so very much for your paintings. I want to ask you about your chinese brushes. I bought some, but they do not make a fine tip gathered like yours. They just have the tips opened. Can you please tell me which one arer yours? I appreciate and thank you Andrew.

      Thanks for getting in touch. There’s nothing special about my Chinese brushes. They are just ordinary Chinese calligraphy brushes. I was given many of them by a kind student from Hong Kong after she saw me using some I bought from Jackson’s art store in London. I’m afraid I can’t read the Chinese writing on the handles. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

    Love your painting demos! Where can I purchase a paint palette like the one you use in your demos! Does it have a brand name

    • @AndrewPittArtist

      My palette is a replica of a Binning Munro palette. They are made by the watercolor paint box company and the brass paint box company. Both have websites.

    Amazing demonstration. I can't wait to try it. Can I ask what sort of brush that was that you used for the sky? Looked like a Chinese calligraphy brush maybe? There seems to be so many of them I'm not sure what the difference between them all is
