Resin Newb! - Wandmaking Successful-

This is the first time I've played with resin (both pouring and turning it on the lathe). All in all, it was fun but time consuming. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm excited to make more. If you want to do resin&wood wands I suggest making certain sections entirely out of resin and getting some high grit sanding tiles up to about 1200 grit. You can use them on wood but it kind of gums them up and you have to clean them out a lot when using them on wood. On resin though the work as standard sandpaper.

Yep, I actually have all the stuff to polish up to 6000 grit, but I was mostly playing with things for this first project to get a feel for it and see what I might do to shortcut things and still get a good looking product. The biggest problem with the full polishing process is labor time, so I was hoping to cut it down a bit. All that labor is fine on large projects that can sell for high prices, or personal items where time isn't an issue. But I've found on small items like wands, there is only so much the market will bear. Pricing is a constant challenge for me (as with most makers I imagine). It's difficult to find a balance between what I CAN do verses what people are willing to pay for. It's one reason I spend a lot of time experimenting with different methods that might save time without compromising quality. The struggle is real my friend. :D

Yorkshire grit and polish would probably give you what you're looking for in polishing. not that costly either. . . .@@mythimpressions

The handle looks kind of like a Ninja turtles shell or the manhole cover of what they usually lift up to go into the sewers to there hideout
