Act II certainly the weirdest and lyrically extreme part of Joe's Garage. Besides the strong accent, the German parts are actually correct 😂😂🙈🙈

You've got on the way Frank works. He's literally said in interviews that he intentionally write lyrics that speak to 13 year old boys on purpose. The idea is to pull a bit of a bait-and-switch: use really juvenile lyrics to expose them to extremely well composed and challenging music. And it's worked: there is a whole generation of artists that have produced astounding works inspired by Frank's music.

This came out when I was 14…lol
I remember getting into some hot water with my 7th grade German language teacher…
Had to explain where I had heard “Aber beklecker nicht am das sofa”.
    😳
Also tough to share how great the music was with people who couldn’t get past the concepts or the language presented.
It’s way better hearing it now as a borderline senior citizen.
I usually started new music loving friends off with Weasels Ripped my Flesh…
If they started loving that record after a few listens, I knew they would be Zappa fans.

This one is dear to me, Jim, and I am over the moon that you are also enjoying it. Our teenage selves can snicker at the lyrics which our adult minds revel in the music, the final key solo had escaped my fullest attention until you. When I auspiciously met Frank, I was showing a female visitor from my hometown of Charlotte to a new swanky hotel in Boston, where I was living at the time, mid-80s, when there sat Mr. Frank Zappa, himself, with another man, relaxing in the overstuffed chairs in the lobby. I had memorized some of the German bits from this album, so figured he might find it amusing if I asked him the meaning of "Aber beklecker nicht das sofa", as it would indicate a more than passing knowledge of his works. We're both Capricorns so I felt an additional inclination to remove our distance. He was kind, and laughed at the question, and we had some small talk. Visitor was most impressed. He scores!
I think you will find the final song, "Outside Now" quite satisfying. Thanks again. Looking forward.

@@JimNewstead Everyone eventually made their way to Boston or Harvard, or I made it a point to know the important minds of my generation, to paraphrase Ginsberg, whom I met a time or two, and was a gentle mensch. I had known friends of his in Charlotte, so there was already a dotted line between us. A notion I had in my ancient theory of social triangularity. BTW, I played the album at a party once, and was given all manner of strange looks, as well you could imagine.

The musicianship on this album is ridiculous - even by Zappa's standards. I tried to persuade a theatrical director to stage this when I was in College. Unsurprisingly, I was turned down. I believe the Zappa estate staged it a few years ago. These 3 albums may be my favourites from Frank, and I have 20-odd of his

Well done Jim! I think you nailed it on the head when you said it's like he's deliberately sabotaging his own work. I've said that many times before. Like a true artist, he sacrificed popularity for integrity. Can't wait for the rest of this masterpiece!

"SABOTAGE..." Well he wasn´t interrested in that ... =) He did what he did because he liked it. We Zappa-freaks buied it anyway ... The "rock, pop, blues, jazz and so on live concerts..." the easy listening, was to bring in money so he could compose classical music. He got the "wall of fame of Rock", and think he should have it for jazz and classical too =)

I think this side has a very "Reggae" feel to it. The lyrics are so silly they make me laugh every time. Folks that choose to be offended are missing the point. This is Zappa as comedian. He's being outrageous to the point of absurdity and was probably laughing his ass off recording this and hoping we'd react the same way.

Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend Jim!! ...Would you like to reach 23,000 or more subscribers this week?...Well here you have your best gift of your life!!....Today it is very rare to find reactors like you who have never reacted to the best singer in the world, Dimash Kudaibergen, who has 7 octaves and 3 semitones vocal range (An alien) ... Maybe someone made you a request to react to Dimash, but you have not had time .... I am going to dare to recommend that you meet Dimash, because when you do it for the first time, your life as reactor will change forever ....For example, the number of views that you have today, it will increase by 300% in a matter of a few hours and you will get a lot of new subscribers.....But when you react to Dimash, don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did Dimash from the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one.... You can also start with the other famous live version of that song that Dimash did the following year 2018 when he was invited to the famous Slavic Bazzar festival in Belarus .... Both performances are from another planet...And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they suck!...Your life will never be the same again, after reacting for the first time to Dimash...And your first reaction to Dimash will be something very special, so I recommend that you do the best job of your life as a reactor, because that first video will be seen by thousands of people around the world, maybe millions...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S.
