The GIGABYTE M27Q-PRO is $350 USD now, and the LG 27GP850 is at $400 USD on Newegg. So they bumped $100 up in just 2 months. This is crazy!!
this is why i dislike review channels. it makes prices go up.
@@7kortos7 but if you don't have you can buy wrong product
@@7kortos7 That's utter foolishness and contradictory what you just said. If not for these reviews, we wouldn't know which monitors are best for our budget range, and the contradiction comes with you WATCHING these reviews.
@@mikewil7571 what a sheep.
@@7kortos7 I'm a follower of nobody, cut the bullshit.
This channel is a blessing
Great video Tim! I can't even begin to imagine how much work goes into a video like this. Between this video by itself, and compiling the data from the original testing and review videos and the work that went into those videos, there has to be hundreds of hours. I can see my next large panel display being something along the lines of the LG C2 OLED, in a bit larger size. I've been using a 55 inch television as a monitor for the better part of a decade now. The first was just a basic 1080p LG model. I had cable TV at the time and slowly made the shift to eliminating the cable box. My current TV is 4K 120hz at least, but I've had it for about 4 years now and have never had any kind of coax cable or antenna connected to it. I have it connected to my PC with an HDMI cable and all content that I "consume" is through my PC. If I could even get a large tunerless QLED display I'd be all over it. It could be as dumb as the most basic monitor, as far as I'm concerned. Give me a nicely specced out display, a couple of Displayport 2.0 connectors, and I guess a couple of HDMI 2.1 connectors just in case, and I'd be happy.
I love this breakdown, you can tell y'all actually compared the tiers with eye tests rigorously. Not gonna lie, I like other channels already for hardware, the thought of seeing if like y'alls more is just not on my agenda. Maybe it'll get recommended after I start watching these more but I'm subbing to this channel for sure.
Unrelated to your comment man but your beard is sick af
Haven't seen it mentioned on HUB, but really enjoying the Acer XV272U 170Hz that a Microcenter employee (and RTings) recommended. Great single-mode VRR experience across the refresh rate range. Only downside is it uses DP1.2, so 10-bit color maxes out at 120Hz, but the 170Hz at 8-bit color looks and feels great, too. For $230, I couldn't be happier.
At least where I am in the US, the trouble with all the mid-range monitor recommendations is that they're out of stock!
people should not worry about 8 bit or 10 bit, virtually identical except u get a higher refresh rate at 8 bit.
I just bought the 1080p aoc monitor as a somewhat portable gaming monitor for my 3060 laptop for “lan parties”, I’m blown away how good it looks and I’ve got an ultra wide and an lg OLED tv for my main rig.
AOC makes some pretty decent monitors, depending on the model.
does the audio and everything works well?
Well thats because if a monitor is 2021 or 2022 made its vastly better than something from 2017-2019 monitor
i got an lg 27gn650-b a few days ago as a christmas gift to myself and i'm super happy moving from 60hz to 144hz. may be an older panel but it's amazing
Thanks, reassuring to see two of my shortlist here.
Picked up the LG GP850 earlier in the year for $337 when LG had them on sale. Keep in mind VAT makes up about 21-23% in this country so Its a fairly good deal since the MSRP is $484. Glad the LG still makes the recommended list despite its age.
One thing i didnt factor in to the price was that i had to buy a $15 spacer kit to have the LG attach to my existing monitor arm. Its unfortunate but it is what it is.
I just bought an LG 27GP950 and had the same exact issue mounting the monitor to an arm, I had to buy separate screws just to attach it properly.
what is the perfect size monitor for 2k display (mostly for coding, watching movies )?
The more expensive gsync module version of the Alienware got a massive discount yesterday. I grabbed one and just can’t wait
How you getting on with your Alienware?
Sadly the Gigabyte M27Q-P has been out of stock for at least a few days here in the US at the $250 price. Seems to only be available for $379 now.
Currently in stock at Newegg and B&H in the US for $300. I think $250 was its Black Friday price, and $300 is still a sale price (though less of a deal).
300$ is ok , in Europe this monitor costs 579 Euro that's 615$ so ....
still out of stock at any reasonable price.
Yeah I wasn't able to find the budget ones and anywhere at a reasonable price as well 😪
It seems to me that its out of production, or not coming to EU as of late.
Thank You for all the recommendations 🙌
How did I not know about this channel even after following hardware unboxed for years?!
Cooler Master have apparently released a patch addressing some of the firmware issues the GP27U had at launch. Are you going to update your review and do you recommend it now?
Yeaaahhhh Brissie! Killing it in a space not many are in~! Needed a monitor wizard for my builds...
LG just announced their 27GR95QE-B, a 240hz 1440p 27 inch OLED and it goes on sale for preorder on Dec 12 and gets delivered at the end of the month. I’m waiting for that to come out to decide between it and the Aw3423DWF. I hope you get it really soon because your my most trusted source of monitor info.
Does it have g-sync and any info on prices?
@@zz1426 Yes. G-sync compatible. $1000
Potentially a "DWF" version of this monitor in a few months without g-sync for $200 less?
@@leotolosky7904 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@leotolosky7904 doubt it. It’s not G-Sync Ultimate which is the module that you’re referring to that made the dwf cheaper than the dw
i understand this was last year, but the gigabtye 250ish dollar monitor has doubled in price, this needs to be updated
Bought LG 27GP850-B. Thank You.
I love these videos but always feel left out being in the UK either way I appreciate the work you put in.
Got a M28U open box a few months ago for 600 CAD. Great monitor!
what a steal!
Absolute GOAT. Love your channels and love you guys.
Thanks for all that you do! I know you’ve helped hundreds of thousands of people this year in choosing their next monitor.
I tested both the Neo G8 and the Alienware DWF and ended up sticking with the ultra wide. Scan lines were a non-factor in this decision, and both are fantastic screens when you compare them at MSRP and the Black Friday Samsung discounts.
Aren't they both ultra-wide?
@@damienmason3807 Nope! The Neo G8 is a 16:9 32" monitor although it definitely gives you a great sense of immersion by how big it is. Still a great monitor, I just had to pick one.
Very helpful list but would be nice to have some alternative options if they exist for each price tier cause availability and pricing is very hit or miss and it varies around the world.
For the $100 bracket I would add the MSI Pro MP241X. The image is surprisingly good for the price.
@@Donivar have any details?
I recently picked up a LG 32GK650F... moving up from 2 basic smaller 1080p monitors to a LG 1440p 32" as my main gaming monitor for cheap...It was a past budget pick of yours. I was shopping for a newer 24" or 27" 144 hz monitor bargain and I never thought I would get any 32" at less than $250-$350 usd, It has some draw backs, as it's an older VA panel, It's not the best monitor, but it's descent, especially considering the extremely low price - it was too much of a bargain to pass up at only $150 after promos and discounts online ($150 brand new).
Lg monitors is shit. Won’t probably buy from them got bad ezperience
Those prices are so far away from what I can get in our shops. Here they are about 80% more expensive even including any currency differences.
I already got the M27Q thanks to your videos but I can't stop watching your reviews. Great content!
Do you have any quality issues with it? I recently bought it and now im reading reviews about it having defects. For example, pple are ranting about it having dead and stuck pixels. How long have you owned the monitor? thanks for the help.
@@bartholomewdam5592 I got mine last March. There is one defective pixel which is stuck at color white, you really have to look for it to notice it. There are also two pixels at the topleft corner of the screen that mirrors the colors of the bottomright corner. At first I thought they were stuck pixels. The mirroring issue can be fixed with a firmware update. In the end mine only have a single stuck pixel defect which I can definitely live with.
@@mxyellow thank you so much. So it’s worth getting even though the pixels are stuck. I play a lot of shooter games and single player games like god of war. I wanted to buy this for the 1440p with 120FPS. So it isn’t noticeable unless you’re being nit picky??
@@mxyellow also, how do u do the firmware update for it when it connected to a console?? Do I update it through the PC applications??
@@bartholomewdam5592 I believe you can only update the firmware using a PC. You can also use a laptop, you will need to have the M27Q as your main display if you do that.
thank you for this video i think im considering the AOC 24G2SP 24"
Great Video! You should check out the HP x24ih for the low end segment. It's supposed to be really decent for the price.
it's been three years and 24g2 is still the recommended monitor, amazing
I got the Samsung odyssey g7 27inch for $499 and honestly it’s better then I expected coming from a 1080p 24inch tuf monitor. I was skeptical since the Amazon reviews showed so many damaged panels or complaints about dead pixels but I’m happy to say I had non of that. I mainly play Apex and the curve definitely helps with the aim since the curve keeps me focused on the target. Some open world games like Valhime also look incredible with the curve making a small 3d effect.
The g7 honestly under appreciated. It has 1440p with amazing colors and the curve really starts to grow on you the more you use it. This is probably the best monitor for any consumer since it just has everything a casual needs
Was going to buy this for my new build and had everything ready in my shopping cart last night to buy it today. Called the bank after work so everything would be ready to go when I got home to order everything just to find out it went from $549.99->$674.99!!! It costs more than the 32inch monitor now and we t up $130!!! Very bummed and now I have to choose something else.
@El Cactuar Hilarious buddy. If you knew anything about the real world, banks put limiters on accounts to prevent people from losing mass amounts of money due to scams as a last line of defense 😱. No way in hell would I ever take out a loan for a damn gaming pc 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Tim!
I wonder if price is still accurate :) thanks for responding to me !
I saw a video on the aw3423dwf's handling of HDR content in games versus movies. Essentially it was that the aw3423dw's g-sync module strives for creator's intent in games, whereas the refreshed model with freesync goes for a more general approach to accommodate other forms of media, but leads to more clipping in-game. I can't find the video now, but does this have any merit? That reason alone would make me stick with the aw3423dw over the refreshed model.
Man just found your channel and I gotta say, a computer nerd and star wars lego fan? I think I'm in love xd
2023 will be 🔥🔥, so many OLED monitors announced for 2023 already.
I just got the Samsung Odyssey Neo g8, found it for 979.99. and I absolutely love it
Thanks. Just looking for a cheap but decent monitor to use as a 2nd monitor. Not wanting to spend over $200. I do have a 27 inch 1440p 165hz monitor that retails over $400 which is my main monitor. I got it off an online auction for $265 and it works great.
Great work mate cheers for the round up! Any recommendations for AU/melb buyers? M27Q-P kind of isn't available 😖
6:08 i bought that LG last week and im very impressed for this pricepoint, i highly recommend it. i went from VA to Nano-IPS and the colors are just so much better. aLso barely any overshoot, no ghosting, whatever, really good for its price.
Would this be good for a novice video/photo editor?
@@Spundles yes, i use it for professional work myself. (i write websites, design logo's, edit pictures and videos)
It has about a 97% colour coverage and excellent color representation.
It is also great for gaming and does not suffer from burn-in due to the nano-ips screen technology.
Im super happy with mine.
Im going to do a review on my channel soon as i enjoy making reviews.
Have a nice day!
Newer VA panels have improved, I'd certainly prefer one to IPS, the excellent Samsung Neo featured in this video is an example of the better VA type, always superior contrast and reasonable blacks if you can't stretch to an OLED
@@oktc68 bruh. The Neo is 3 to 4 times as expensive as the LG.
Stupid comparison.
Now name a 300-400 bucks VA monitor thats surpasses LG's nano-ips. (The neo g7 and g8 go for 999 to 1299 here)
Great video as always! What about the AOC Agon AG27QXM? The HDR capability is tempting me, and in Germany it's available for around 750 euros.
How about a list with recommendable Ultrawides, preferable curved, with 3440x1440 and more?
I have m32q and surprized it did not make it here. Quite a good value in my opinion. Got it thanks to your reviews 😊
I think he was basing the best monitor for each price range. The Gigabyte M32Q may have had competition with another monitor in the price range.
In Norway the Gigabyte M27Q-X Cost 700 dollars, that's 300 dollars more
You are lucky. I don't think I've ever seen that Gigabyte M27Q-P for less than $350, which is too much for my budget
What are your thoughts on the VG279AQ, here in Germany it's way cheaper than the M27Q
Finally sprung for a Neo G7. Gonna chance it on the curve and see what I think. If I return it I’ll be looking at the m28u as a replacement
How do you like the neo G7? 27 or 32 inch?
Hi Tim ! Thanks for this great video.
I'm looking for a monitor with :
- VESA Compatible
- 27 to 34"
- USB C with enough power delivery for a macbook pro
- Curved
- Min 144 Hz.
Any ideas ? Thanks a lottt
Managed to pick up a Aorus FV43U, which is going for $599.99 in the US right now. 4K 144hz display. Doesn’t match the picture quality of OLED with a VA panel, but it fits my needs better for work from home/gaming. Too many concerns regarding OLED burn in with static work elements.
That complaint is so 2020.... 🙄
I also recommend looking at the KTC H27T22.
It's a great 1440p165hz IPS monitor with great colors, great response, great contrast for an IPS and a standard pixel layout, for 250$ or even less (heard Amazon selling it for 200$).
its the time to test gigabyte G24F 2 👍
nice work 👍
While the gaming monitor information is nice, it would be nice to also have some videos on color work or content consumption monitors without consideration on refresh rate or response times under something like 10ms
I watch all your shows. I also watch all Hardware Unboxed Shows. Cheers Mate.
Is the Gigabyte M27Q-P available in Australia? The only one I have seemed to be able to find was a good $100+ over the regular M27Q version.
Dear MUB,
the msi MAG321QR seems to be the most economical 32 inch 1440p ips 165hz monitor.
Also seems to be available in Australia. Any particular reason MUB is avoiding it?
Please review soon.
Thanks 💐🙏
Very smart video idea
is it worth paying an extra $60 for a gigabyte m27q x ? or just buy the lg 27gp850-b
What do you think about Qn90b 43' TV ?
It's now going for 800$ and I'm wondering if it's worth it for PC use. Can you review it ?
I really appreciate your monitor break down like your response times examples ect, have you considerd going over seas to do a break down on those monitors that are not available in australia there are monitors that i was looking forward to seeing a break down on and now understand there will be no break down of those products, eg: dells ultrasharp up3218k.
hey man i was wondering why mag274qrf qd didnt make it to the list this time, it was in all your monitor videos this year. Is it because of the high end pricing or anything else new?
Great video, i have the M32UC. I thought i ordered the M32U but must have missread something when i ordered.. altho im pretty happy with it! Do you have any thoughts on the M32UC? I cant find much about it on yt/online while there are tons of stuff on the M32U. Its really similar to the M32U except that the M32UC has a 1500R curve and is a VA panel. Just wondering if you have any thoughts on the M32UC, thanks!
I bought the Alienware qd oled at the beginning of the month only for the F version to come out days earlier. I ended up swapping them out and can say both are great!
Isn't the F the same but without the Gsync module? I would take the Gsync module, unless you're sure you're not gonna get an Nvidia GPU anytime soon.
Screw the Gsync module and Nvidia's proprietary bullshit. Lets thank AMD for standardizing variable refresh rate instead of locking it down.
I picked up the Neo G7 because of you. I'm liking it a lot but am only powering it with a 1080 ti right now since my 6900 xt is being RMA'd. Thank you.
What spec's are you using the 1080 ti with and by chance what are the average fps?
I'm having hard time deciding between g7 and m32u. I play a lot of dark games and IPS glow is annoying me immensely, but at the same time I don't know how I feel about the curve of g7
Can you create a recommendation table to suggest which resolutions and refresh rates should we choose for given HW configurations?
Not sure about Nvidia cards but for AMD cards, a 6600 or 6600 XT are 1080p cards, the 6700 XT and 6800 cards are 1440p and 6800 XT cards can be used for anything up to 4K. Each resolution is on high or ultra settings.
It does depend on the game being played and the exact quality settings in use so a table that is accurate is kind of out of the question.
The ARM Edition of the M28u is about the same price but comes with speakers.
Just ordered an MSI artymys 273cqr for $250. It's a 27in 1440p 165hz monitor. Definitely a good deal while cyber sales last
As usual, excellent content Tim! Speaking of in-demand products, I'm still waiting on my M32Q purchased on Amazon Canada back in September for 350 $CAD. Oh well...
And if you get it most likely it will have a dead pixel or stuck pixel.
@@dagnisnierlins188 Why? I didn't get it from a Warehouse Deal!
@@billardon514 doesn't matter where you get it from. It's just a known quality control problem for this monitor. Mine has a stuck pixel, but luckily it's in a corner and the pixel is very small so can't notice it.
as someone who has used ultrawide panels, and 27 inch and 24 inch panels. i find that 24inch panels are easier to focus on my surroundings in a competitive fps setting. anything bigger and i find that im suffering from eye strain or neck strain from having to move from edge to edge of my screen when looking for enemies in games like pubg, warzone and apex legends
can you recommend a good 24 inch monitor for ego shooters on ps5? My friend recommended me buying a 24'' because he said the 27'' ones are giving him problems like you said
Found a LG 27GP850-B Damage box item in Amazon for $175. I picked it up and the Monitor is in perfect shape. Sadly, I am not happy with the 27", as I think it is too big. Going to hang on to it for a month, to see if I get used to it, or just sell it off.
i think it should definitely be mentioned that the 24g2sp AOC only has 1.4 hdmi so if you are using that, you will be limited to 144 hz instead of monitors 165 hz
have the prices of monitors gone up? Everything here is way more expensive and sometimes $100 over the price range you mentioned.
Any chance that you'll review some monitors geared towards content creation in the future?
plz do a video like this but for mini led gaming monitors that can work for creators as well
I like medium sized bezels, like the LG monitor!
Need a 2023 version!!
The prices have jumped big time on all of these monitors.
My primary use case is office work, then gaming as a second. Should I steer clear of the Alienware QD-OLED? It does have anti burn in features....
My ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q number one on test !!! gaming and media creation!!! don't ghosting and overshoting !!!
Can we get a review of the HP X32? I know you've done the x27q but i believe the X32 is a different panel, its 1440p, 32in, 165Hz, IPS for under $300 right now, actually just got it from best buy for $220. Nobody has done a thorough review of it anywhere yet and i really like your videos and testing. Thank you
That $120 monitor seems great for productivity as a second monitor. My current one (ASUS VG248H) is 75Hz, but doesn't even work properly because it uses HDMI and for some reason my RX 6600 or the drivers keep it at 60Hz most of the time.
You contact amd if not let them know its a problem? Otherwise display port - hdmi cable if you can borrow one to test. Would contact Asus as well...
@@frizzlefry1921 I have tried using the DisplayPort to HDMI and it only outputs 60Hz and doesn't support FreeSync (not that I game on it anymore lol). That was on an older GPU though, maybe I'll try it again. I'll contact them to see if they can help though. Thanks.
Check your color Depth (BPC) if it's 12 change it to 8 or 10
Any reason the Corsair Xeneon QHD 240 wasnt listed? I see it has HDR600 versus the original only having 165hz refresh and hdr400. At $550 (without stand), would that be worth a purchase or no?
Very informative list, will be a reference for me until updated.
Only one real problem.
Where I live, I need to add 100-150 USD to each price range, minimum.
Really sucks.
Just like every non-USA human on the Earth.
M27Q monitor is a bgr layout (rather than rgb) which has some text clarity issues. I recommend the Samsung g50a flat screen ips for $250. Same specs 1440p 27inch ips 165hz. If KVM is priority for you, then different story
Which is why he's recommending the M27Q-P, not the M27Q. The successor has a new panel with an rgb layout, as well as some other upgrades.
I binge watched all your monitor content. Really appreciate it! I want to upgrade to 1440p 144hz for my PS5. I narrowed down my choices into two. LG 27GP850 ($360) and Gigabyte M27Q-P 27 ($330). However, I came across the Acer Nitro XV272UV at only $250 in my region. What do you think about this monitor? 🙏
WHERE did you find the LG 27GP850 for $360?
@@Justin-og9gu I picked it up for $244, was lucky to have a coupon left for that shop. Normal price was $399. The LG is a great monitor in it’s price/quality range, it arrived here 2 days ago.
I noticed only one issue, when I switch to 144hz I get flikkering horizontal green stripes. Could it be maybe my “oldish” rx580 gpu? It works fine on 120hz tho.. I don’t really play games, so I don’t really need that high refresh rate. But maybe someone has an 💡idea?
I really recommend koorui 24inch 165hz monitor for 100-130 dollars. I just got it and its really good and buttery smooth
I find it hard to find recommendations for monitors best for Nintendo Switch and your channel is one I definitely rely upon frequently is this anything you can address?
Does anyone have an idea for a 27in 1440p monitor that has a low minimum brightness and higher contrast, that's kinda the most important spec for me, yet it really isn't mentioned all that much?
I look forward to the LG 240 hz OLED at CES. :)
I've ordered the MSI Optix MAG321QR when it was on sale for arround 380 Euros ($391). It didn't arrive yet but what is your opinion on that specific monitor. Was that even worth it?
Love the videos. The gigabyte is more like $380 and there’s like 12 of them in North America.
I need 3 new monitors for a triple monitor setup. Should be 27 or 28 inches and 4k. Money is not an issue.
Should i get 3x Gigabyte M28U? Or since this monitor is 2 years old should rather wait for something else to release this year?
The 2022 LG models are no longer available.
OLED is not available in 4K and seems to suck when doing mixed stuff... e.g. web browsing, text based work. I only play games 10% of the time.
So.... what would you recommend?
I would love to get good black levels and high contrast. So paying a bit more for something with FALD would be ok but it seems that there is barely anything decent out there at the moment.
cheeeeeeeeeeeeeers! have loved ur monitor content and quality in reviews and totaly forgot you had this channel too! thanks a ton for the work and reviews and im FINALLY looking at buying the best possible monitor i can and im willing to over spend this time but i want 27in instead of 32in cause its just bene to much the past few years. great monitor but i want to SERIOUSLY get high quality picture at true 144hz 1440p now instead of the 120hz ive been at~ but with the prices lately its yikessssssss and lets not forget amazon holiday shipping scheduals hahahahahahahaah i mean id LOVE to get some of these options but ive sadly seen as last as like january 26th as shipping dates rip. buuuuuuuuuuuuuut now that youve truly shown me what i can get for the 400$ range i might actually have ot consider investing for my future and going with a quality 240hz 1440p monitor aslong as your reviews show them performing really well overshootwise at 144hz incase i want ot keep it downclocked for now until i get my new gpu at the start of the next year and can go for that true modern gaming juiec HAH cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers
Thanks
Nice video, may i suggest looking into LG 29WQ600-W? for 150 USD it's 29inch IPS Ultra-Wide 2560x1080 100Hz has Type-C and speakers. It doesn't seem to be that bad! I am gambling on buying it since i think it's a good monitor for work and budget gaming. though i think since it's 100Hz it might be better to be priced around $130-$140.
Edit: According to camelcamelcamel it has dropped to 125 USD a few times as well!
great video, im looking to buy myself a new Samsung Odyssey G4 240hz. would you be able to tell me if it would be worth it?
M28U is incredible.
Sadly, the m27q p(ro) is sold out everywhere the last two weeks, except for at B&H where they charge $379.
Thanks for a great video though.
is it worth waiting for the upcoming LG oled monitor?
I have lg c2 but I cant use it as a monitor due to its size. Why manufacturers cant make lg c2 based 32" standard monitor?
Tysm god bless you I think I've found my choice
