HDR Unboxed. I came on to show my appreciation of the channel, but like many here I'm starting to think it's an OLED only channel. The inclusion of the AOC VA just shows me that it's really the Quest for decent hdr, which is not been on my radar at all. I've been looking for a nice color accurate panel with good text clarity, vrr that works, nice response times, and I finally settled on the Dell G27 24d this week after just getting fed up of everybody promoting oleds or some other product that compromises everything in the Quest for HDR. The Del actually lets me play some hdr, not well I'm sure, and it is enjoyable I must admit. But what I'm really enjoying is the monitor works for everything I got it for. Gaming's never felt better at less than $200, and I can still use this monitor all day without worrying about burn in, or my eyes burning out from trying to read it
All the 32" ones are just not available in the Philippines. They get advertised online, but none of the stores have any stocks even if you try to get one online.
Any possiblity you will test the Asus PG38UQ? While I would love to get an OLED monitor (I already have an OLED TV so I know the benefits), the drawbacks make me lean toward staying with IPS for my main monitor.
I'm really interested in a Dell G3223Q 144Hz 4k monitor. I wish you had a review of that too... i can read/watch only good articles of it, so makes me extremely curious if you are on the same opinion too.
I am honestly waiting for the VA LCD with local dimming for my all-around monitor. My PC is turned on for 14 hrs a day and half of it I am working with mostly static image of IDE with code so OLED is not an option. But I want those dark blacks so much.
@@Battleneter thats why I am still waiting and not buying the monitor from the list in the video. There are already some nice VA monitors with good response times, but without local dimming
From a connectivity standpoint, what do you need on your graphics card to run 4k HDR 240hz? +VRR? I have a 4070 ti super which maybe can do this for rocket league
I need a bit of advice here. My old AOC 1080 144Hz monitor is dead and I need a new one. I play very few A games, and quite a bit of CS2 casual, but most hours is used watching movies. What would be the best; an AOC Q27G3XMN fast HDR monitor or a 4K 144 hz within my price range. Like the Samsung Odyssey S28BG700EP? They rerely mention watching TV in the reviews??
The ASUS PG32UCDM i like a unicorn to me. I'd like to buy it, but nobody has it in stock in the EU where i live. Sometimes there is one available online somewhere but they get snatched up super quick. It is really annoying for a product released at the start of the year to still not widely available in june. It really feels like ASUS ships like the 20 a week for the entire EU region.
Just to ask about the AOC One, RTings new testing metodology with 3RGB tolerance says that the monitor is 4.5 ms average instead of yours 9ms... But with the Neo G7 both agree at around 4ms both... How is this huge difference posible?
The Neo G7 and G8s are incredibly well tuned by samsung, and that is why they are able to perform the way they do despite being VA panel monitors. Without similar tuning my expectations of a blur free VA monitor would be close to zero, hence I'd sooner buy anything else.
@@JasonSmith-pn6ch Yep I tried a VA panel once. It wasn't even a cheap one either it was $500. Decided to return it within 2 hours. Never going anywhere near VA again.
He is straight up lying about the XG27AQDMG being grain-free. It still has grain on bright colors, apparently due to MLA. It's like he didn't even pull up a screen with white to test the coating and just assumed that it being marketed as "glossy" makes it automatically free of grain.
Does no one talk about the fact that the Gigabyte QD Oleds can use the APL setting in SDR content? This makes them able to hit 1000nits peak in SDR! This fact alone makes them better than the Alienware and MSI variants. I had all the 3 available 27 inch QD Oleds and the Alienware and Msi have been sent back. I play a lot of games without HDR implementation, and Im aware of the Nvidia RTX HDR technique, but to be able to make a SDR games hit 1000nits peak is a a realy nice option to have. I use it all the time playing competitive or singleplayer games.
Yes, I also have this monitor. It would be correct to say that 1000nits is only in a very small area. And for the eyes I would not recommend above 110-150nits for a permanent time.
@@314LA That would be a bit too dark for OLED imo. OLED I prefer higher nits because of the big contrast dark areas are still as dark as supposed to and colors do pop out more then
Wondering why the last monitor is your favourite, the Asus ROG PG27AQDM 240Hz over the newer Alienware AW2725DF 360Hz/ MSI MPG 271QRX 360Hz of which both have better specs and cheaper? Saw your review on the Alienware one since it is cheap in Australia and thought that it is currently the best 27" OLED 1440p at 360Hz, what am I missing?
@Mad1723 I've owned 3 oled monitors now and it definitely is not overblown. It is quite annoying. The newest samsung 32" 4k oled monitor is one of the worst yet for it unfortunately.
@@Mad1723 Possibly sensitivity to it varies. I've never noticed any flicker on my PG27AQDM. That said, Rtings did find that flicker on that monitor was better than most other OLEDs.
Is the image on an OLED TV as good as on monitors or are they different? Because the quality on a 4K 144 hz LCD TV is the same as on a monitor at 60-70 hz. When the image doesn't move, it's wonderful, how few textures make for a better experience when moving, but as soon as there is movement, everything starts to get blurry. Will a 120 Hz OLED TV give me at least the same image quality as a 120 Hz LCD monitor?
I have a lg c42 and wish it was curved so I am surprised that you don't want the curve. Perhaps the smaller size (32)? Going to a flat screen now feels like it bows out.
Honestly, choosing between the 4k 240Hz OLEDs is completely different from place to place... In my region, Alienware and the FO32U2 are cheapest at 1200€, next is the Odyssey G8 at 1300 (which doesn't include USB-C which I think is a shame) followed by the FO32U2P at 1380 and the 321URX at 1460 with the PG32UCDM far away at 1700... I am thinking about buying the U2P, but not sure because of only 65W of USB-PD...
I wasn't expecting the LG 32GS95UE to show up in this video. Preordered one for myself, can't wait to enjoy my first 4K monitor & high refresh rate at the same time also coming from TN panel.
Question. I've looked at some VA panels and they have all been very bad, how is it possible to recommend that technology for any screens? They are not sharp when looking at the panels straight on, or has something changed? weird lighting etc.
I am amazed how none of the companies have produced a great 27 incg 4K IPS monitor woth 240Hz and DP2.1 and a good looking stand, like that 32 inch LG has.
Question, what 32" 4k options would you recommend for people who aren't quite convinced by all the anti burn-in technology and don't want to go OLED just yet?
Depends on what you want? For HDR it's Samsung, FPS gaming is Benq, productivity LG or even the apple studio... There are many great LCD monitors for each specific task, but none of them are all rounders like the new 4K 240hz OLEDs (especially the LG with its dual mode)
have to ask last year the mini led panels were super expensive, now here come the oled and the mini are still priced higher than a lot of them...will we see better mini lcd at cheaper prices?
I'm planning on upgrading to 4k (from 4 years @ 1440p) in Feb 2025 (or later if the RTX 5090 doesn't release by then) - at the moment the LG C series 42" tv still looks like the win. Separate sidenote, the GTX 1080ti was possibly the best GPU purchase I've made in the last ~20 years.
I really need one of these big monitor channels, preferably this one, to put the FO32U2P side by side with the FO32U2 and test them. It's a rare chance to test the true value of including dp2.1 within a model line that should be otherwise identical - though lets also be careful to not assume that they are otherwise identical. The price difference is not insignificant.
I have one since today. Its a shame this channel is currently only reviewing oleds.. could not find any reviews i have a 30 day return window, and was able to get it at a decent price. If you need to know anything hmu

Hey, Tim. The 240Hz Asus XG27AQDMG is more expensive than the latest 1440p OLED from DELL, which has 360Hz. At least in my region. Any reason to still prefer the Asus model in that case?
Regional pricing aside, you'd have to compare their specs side by side. The Alienware monitors however cheap seem to skimp out on a few features compared to the competition. But if none of those features matter to you then by all means go for the AW model.
I like watching their videos but it is kind of lame that their policy seems to be to never talk to their subscribers in the comments. But videos are free so I still thank them for their efforts ha ha. I have the ASUS but got it for $699. I am sure the Dell would be great too if it has the lower price in your region. Just compare features and see what you like best.

Any IPS panels?

Looking forward to a review of Samsung's G80SD aswell, think it comes out in the UK next month

These OLED prices are insane. I paid 1299€ for LG CX 55" at 2020 and now I should pay the same price for a 32" or smaller monitor?
Is a lg cx 55 a monitor?

Xiaomi G Pro 27i miniled.. strange that you do not test this.
Are you guys gonna review the new 2 Mini-LED monitors from TCL? They seem really good
I am honestly waiting for the VA LCD with local dimming for my all-around monitor.
My PC is turned on for 14 hrs a day and half of it I am working with mostly static image of IDE with code so OLED is not an option. But I want those dark blacks so much.
eeew VA, if your a gamer you want IPS if not going OLED
@@Battleneter thats why I am still waiting and not buying the monitor from the list in the video. There are already some nice VA monitors with good response times, but without local dimming
From a connectivity standpoint, what do you need on your graphics card to run 4k HDR 240hz? +VRR? I have a 4070 ti super which maybe can do this for rocket league
I ended up with the AW3225QF,
I’d prefer a flat panel as well I can’t justify over $2000aud for a monitor like the MSI MPG 321URX.
VA panel, avoid like the plague.
I ordered this monitor from amazon and the response times were subpar, but the hdr was excellent for the price.
He is straight up lying about the XG27AQDMG being grain-free. It still has grain on bright colors, apparently due to MLA. It's like he didn't even pull up a screen with white to test the coating and just assumed that it being marketed as "glossy" makes it automatically free of grain.
I just wish the AOC Q27G3XMN was available in other countries...
Lovely XG27AQDMG im in love
There are no oleds that hits 1000 nits....the 2 brightest oled displays the sony a95l and lg g4 hit right past 500 nits max
Yes, I also have this monitor. It would be correct to say that 1000nits is only in a very small area. And for the eyes I would not recommend above 110-150nits for a permanent time.
Actually you are wrong both alienware hit them marks just have to know how to set them up.
@@314LA That would be a bit too dark for OLED imo. OLED I prefer higher nits because of the big contrast dark areas are still as dark as supposed to and colors do pop out more then

Guys you really need to talk about VRR flicker when you recommend these monitors to gamers.
It's overblown most of the time
@Mad1723 I've owned 3 oled monitors now and it definitely is not overblown.

I don't think he has tested it yet. Think it is the same base panel as some of the other monitors on this list so the results probably similar
When can we expect 5K OLED 21:9 monitors to be launched?
Is the samsung G60SD at $100 less on sale (matte 1440p 360Hz) a better deal than the ASUS monitor? Is it worth to pay extra for gloss for reduced RR?
Honestly, choosing between the 4k 240Hz OLEDs is completely different from place to place... In my region, Alienware and the FO32U2 are cheapest at 1200€, next is the Odyssey G8 at 1300 (which doesn't include USB-C which I think is a shame) followed by the FO32U2P at 1380 and the 321URX at 1460 with the PG32UCDM far away at 1700... I am thinking about buying the U2P, but not sure because of only 65W of USB-PD...
What about the Samsung new 360hz Odyssey g6 display? How color accurate is it?

I wasn't expecting the LG 32GS95UE to show up in this video. Preordered one for myself, can't wait to enjoy my first 4K monitor & high refresh rate at the same time also coming from TN panel.
I wish monitors weren't constantly sold out in the UK had a better chance to get a 3090 on release
Is there a review coming for the Aorus FO27Q3?
i hope so. that model looks really interesting - but still a bit too expensive in germany (859€ at this time, but dropped from 969€ since release)
I'm switching from LG 34 curved ultrawide to 4k. Not sure if I should go with 32inch or 42inch C4.
LG 42" is the play. 😀
What do you recommend for LCD? Most people doesnt want OLED because of burn in and subpixel issue when not gaming.
I would just get a 2 monitor setup. One cheap LCD for 200$ just for work and one high end OLED for gaming/watching
Depends on what you want? For HDR it's Samsung, FPS gaming is Benq, productivity LG or even the apple studio...
There are many great LCD monitors for each specific task, but none of them are all rounders like the new 4K 240hz OLEDs (especially the LG with its dual mode)
new g8 don't burn
A. the subpixel issue is made up BS I've never seen a problem. Also never seen burn in on my 6 year old OLED TV
have to ask last year the mini led panels were super expensive, now here come the oled and the mini are still priced higher than a lot of them...will we see better mini lcd at cheaper prices?
Asus PG32UCDM: HDMI 2.1 or DP1.4, which to use? Assuming GPU can support either.
The price difference is not insignificant.
just bought the AOC monitor because of his earlier recommendations. early results are good so far.
