My parents still run have their Sansui CRT TV for past 30 years. That thing is a tank, it's still in the basement and I hook up a PS2 to for nostalgia and it still fires up like a champ. Sansui somehow survived with some other OG Japanese TV manufacturers for so long.
I've had a TV or two by them over the years and they were quite a few steps above garbage, actually. Never had issues with them. Just eventually upgraded to something bigger and prettier. But that's what we do, huh?
These budget monitors are all so similar because they use the same panels. It's kind of why we get different flavors of the same thing at the low end, there's only a few panels being made at a high enough amount to drive prices this low.
The 24E4 KOORUI can actually be a decent monitor if you mess around with enough settings. I was able to tune it enough to almost get rid of the ghosting completely. I tested it out for a week it wasn't all that bad.

Sansui was a major brand offering high quality audio gear (especially amps) back in the 70s and 80s. The company went out of business in 2004 and now exists in name only on fairly generic electronics products.
Yes, many, many people still have that. As I've said before, these UA-camrs are used to the best being handed to them. Not real-world representatives here.

When I was looking for a ultrawide monitor, Pixio turned up in few searches with a good ultawide 1440p monitor. Apparently that brand is better than you'd imagine at a first glance. Unfortunately the only two video reviews I watched, the people got a custom pink version which isn't available to the general public or else I would have snatched that thing up in a heartbeat. Ended up going with a viewsonic ultrawide which I'm happy with, but damn if the lost chance at a pink monitor doesn't still hurt a little.
I found this honestly useful. I'm on the hunt for a cheap 1440p monitor, and it just goes to show that paper specs are shockingly misleading. $~200 USD 1440 round-up next!

I'm Dutch, so I have a Dell model introduced in 2010. It is an off-lease Dell G2410H (24"; 1920x1080; 60Hz), the price was $59.33. It has a solid stand adjustable in all direction; shift up/down; turn left/right and rotate vertically. It has DVI-D and VGA compatible with my $59.99 ASRock B450 motherboard with the same connectors and an additional HDMI plug. I use it with a Ryzen 3 2200G :) With a good cable I prefer the analogue VGA.
i'm kinda glad I've never been spoiled by a nice monitor or TV bc I don't notice half of what you guys talk about it these reviews. I got the 27 inch from kuuroi and it looks amazing, haven't noticed any smearing or ghosting (whatever that is). Your monitor looks fine, going to get two of these 24 inch ones for my little sisters.
I have a viewsonic xg2405 and its pretty good. The quality of the image is decent for the money. I think i could have a better experience for spending 3,4 times more on an amazing monitor but for now this is doing fine in terms of movement and colors
You can get some good 1080p 144-165hz monitors in the US for around $150 from LG, ViewSonic, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, etc. Hell, I think there was a 1440p 144hz HP monitor on sale recently for $210 that Hardware Unbox recommended.
@@WinningEmpire Yep, I grabbed an MSI 165hz IPS 1440P open box for $240 in June. I remember just 3-4 years ago, that would have been like $500-600. I would only go for 1080P if someone has a low tier GPU or wants super high refresh rate for E-sports.
Being over budget on my last PC build by $500, I almost bought one of Amazon's $150 monitors, because the PC I owned last last time had one of the early widescreen LCD monitors that offered connection only through DVI or mesozoic port. Thankfully I opted for a decent 165hz 1440p monitor instead, but I came so close to the Amazon crap pile that I could smell it. It's always fun to see you scrape the bottom of the tech barrel. I'd love to see more Deathmatch Arena of cheap garbage videos like this. I especially love that Koorui slogan: "fighting for your dreams". What does that mean? Why? What random sentence generator powered by Google ML rejects did they use to come up with that? Again, WHY? Please help me! That slogan is more confusing than Inception in Spanish.
What price you can get a decent monitor at depends on what kind of refresh rate and resolution you want. $150-$200 can get you something decent to play at 1080p and 120+ hz.
Btw the Samsung odyssey 7 sometimes goes for ~420 pounds at discount pricing, so you might want to consider it as an option(1440p has up to 240hz, comes in 27" and 32", it's curved so might be your cup of tea since you had previously a wide-screen)
"why not spend the extra money on a monitor with a better stand?" because you can reuse a VESA stand, and that completely eliminates any future concerns about ergonomics.
The writing for his episodes is always well done. It doesn't matter if the video is about a topic I don't really care about, I still watch just for the riffs and jokes.
I've been using the Koorui 24e3 for a while now, colors were not good out of the box and is not the brightest display either. But after some calibration, it's a fantastic monitor for the price.
I have personally bought the 24e4 Kourai and been using it for quite a while, I dont think it was that bad in Terms for the Price. The only issue I had with it was that the 165hz were were blurry so I switched to 144hz and it ran quite good! It werent the best colors and ghosting was a also a bit there, but the price it was a really good Monitor in my Opinion.
Hey Dawid! Have you checked if any of the monitors have a "game mode" or whatever? That *might* help with performance on those high refresh rate monitors. I wonder if it's a similar situation with TV's n such.
Probably not, Game Mode on TVs is to help deal with input latency that gets added from all the processing TVs do to their image. For these monitors the problem is the panel itself is slow and can't transition between colours fast enough to not smear and ghost the image at the rated refresh rate.
I've been using the samsung monitor for the past 3 months, as someone who used a 1080p generic laptop monitor, I am quite happy with it. let me share the pros and cons: cons: - stand is terrible, you can actually adjust the verticle angle, but the problem is, it is unnecessarily hard. - the back is curved, so the screws come with normal vesa stands does not work, you need longer screws (yesterday I placed it on my recently bought vesa stand but it fell randomly as the screws were short thanks to stupid curve at the back. - that's about it. pros: - I think it is quite budget friendy, did not face ghosting/dead pixels etc.
I agree, don't cheap out on your display but wait for a sale. I have a curved 24" 1080p 165hz panel from MSI of all companies and I was stunned at how good it looks, definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
60/75Hz wouldn't be a problem to me since I don't play FPS games... I prefer High graphical settings over FPS... as long it says 60ish most of the time... Why not?? Providing the colors & brightness are acceptable enough to be utilized...
About your ergonomics tips: you actually have it the wrong way around. Your neck will be *more* stressed if the monitor is high. Basically all ergonomics guides tell you to position the display below your eye level. And oh BTW, I seem to recall Sansui making audio gear back in the 90s when I got into hifi.
Hey Dawid just wanna say thank you for making this video, been going thru a lot lately and you definitely made my day. Funny as hell and the way you was shit talking about those monitors is funny asf istg.
I have been using the Pixio PX222 for about 6 months in my "Kitchen table battle station". I needed something cheap, and easy to setup and tear down fast to make room for dinner. I have been loving it even compared to my main gaming rig 27" 144hz monitor. I would recccomend it to anyone looking for something small and well rounded.
Thanks! I've had that Kurooi 24E4 sitting in my Amazon wishlist for some time now and this made me delete it. Thanks for saving me from wasting my money on it.
My first ever flat screen monitor was a floor display 21.5 inch Asus. 1080p 60hrtz no speakers and garbage color. 60$ cad. Still in use by my younger cousin 11 years later.
Pro Tip: look for a used LG (or AOC, but preferably an LG) monitor on eBay or Cragslist, wayyy better bang for your buck; better build quality, as well as better colors, but maybe a little bit of a limited refresh rate.
Wisest words for any new pc gamer “do NOT cheap out on the monitor”. A good monitor will outlast your whole build, probably 3 cheap sub 1k builds and at least 2 high end builds
I somehow managed to grab an acer 1080p 144hz (165 overclock) monitor for $150 at best buy. it was honestly a amazing deal, the colors look great and it looks really smooth, no ghosting at all.
I bought an entry-level AOC VA panel and really regretted it. The only games I am willing to play on it are strategy or Diablo-style RPG games as anything with full-screen animations (think FPS or simulation) or even watching movies results in a pea soup on screen whenever there are significant transitions in brightness or motion. Panning especially results in massive amounts of ghosting. While static images and brightness on a VA are pretty pleasant, I would much rather opt for a cheap TN panel that has reasonable response times even if it is only a 60hz panel. Mistakes were made and lessons were learned. Thanks, Dawid for your video, I noticed the Koorui monitors on Amazon and was wondering if they were any good. As usual, the Amazon reviews set a relatively low bar (think: it turned on, 5 stars!) so it is great to see these put through their paces.

My parents still run have their Sansui CRT TV for past 30 years. That thing is a tank, it's still in the basement and I hook up a PS2 to for nostalgia and it still fires up like a champ. Sansui somehow survived with some other OG Japanese TV manufacturers for so long.
I have a Pixio 32" 1440p 165hz monitor I bought in 2018 that I am very happy with as well. Pixio does it pretty well for budget monitors.
Sansui used to be a respected name in HiFi, it's a shame to see the brand slapped on garbage.
That'll all monitors at every price. Most monitors use lg panels
Thank you so much for exploring new monitor options for us. Appreciate the comedic delivery of information.
Dawid just has a way with words like no other tech reviewer. Keeps me coming back just to see what he's gonna say next.
would be nice if you tried to set the 165hz one to 120hz or 144hz and see if it changed anything
I was
thinking he should have done the same thing to
The 24E4 KOORUI can actually be a decent monitor if you mess around with enough settings. I was able to tune it enough to almost get rid of the ghosting completely. I tested it out for a week it wasn't all that bad.
care to share ur settings? its coming in today for me and would be my first high refresh rate monitor. would love to calibrate it to reduce the smearing and ghosting. thank u!

I run a Pixio PX7 Prime 165Hz 1440p monitor (3090 Fe via DisplayPort) and I've been really happy with it. The HDR is terrible, but single player titles look amazing on it and it's given me zero issues in ~2 years. I'd really recommend stepping up to the better Pixio panels if it is in your budget.
What is 3090 Fe?
You had me rolling in laughter the whole time, thank you so much for your humor. 😂🤣
that's sad
@Mr Mag Same here 😂
Sansui was a major brand offering high quality audio gear (especially amps) back in the 70s and 80s. The company went out of business in 2004 and now exists in name only on fairly generic electronics products.
Weirdly, I actually needed a monitor with a VGA port. That was definitely a first.
Yes, many, many people still have that. As I've said before, these UA-camrs are used to the best being handed to them. Not real-world representatives here.
@@k.b.tidwell every server and control unit in my IT department use VGA, either you using it, or u are out

I love that Sansui has been using the same logo for like over 30 years, we have a old Sansui DVD player from 2002 and it has the same logo
It's not the same company. Much like the Westinghouse and Bell+Howell crap, some Chinese conglomerate bought up the brand after it went out of business in 2014, and uses it to dupe people who trusted the name in the past.
I got an 130 dollar monitor from Best Buy, and it’s honestly been really good, it’s a 24 inch IPS monitor with 1080p 120hz
I found this honestly useful. I'm on the hunt for a cheap 1440p monitor, and it just goes to show that paper specs are shockingly misleading. $~200 USD 1440 round-up next!
If so try the Acer vg271us it went on sale for €199 here in the Netherlands, and is very good for its price!
There's an HP that will definitely win that
This video is blessing for the general sale shopper a person giving opinion on who has used pretty high end monitor so he can give + & - .Of product .
And I count on it
I've been using the same LG 1080p monitor for 13 years. It's only TN, and only VGA, but it WORKS. Only cost me £120 too.
Sansui makes me think of Grandad's old stereo from the 80s!
Well, today I've learned that Sansui is still around. I thought that brand died decades ago.
I own the 27" version of that Ultragear monitor and I'm very happy with it. It's by no means a high end product but you won't be disappointed.
If possible sometime, I'd love to see a video like this of $120-$150 monitors where you can find some 1080p 144hz monitors
There have to be good once, considering that even a decade ago good 1080p 60 Hz screens could be found for that price.
I'm Happy with my Insignia 32" tv as my monitor. Does the Job and I have no complaints.
I have a viewsonic xg2405 and its pretty good. The quality of the image is decent for the money. I think i could have a better experience for spending 3,4 times more on an amazing monitor but for now this is doing fine in terms of movement and colors
...You were very kind...disaspointed 😂 I was surprise about the Pixio I was expecting a disaster
You can get some good 1080p 144-165hz monitors in the US for around $150 from LG, ViewSonic, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, etc.
Hell, I think there was a 1440p 144hz HP monitor on sale recently for $210 that Hardware Unbox recommended.
It's crazy how high refresh rate 1440p monitors are only slightly more expensive than mediocre 1080p panels.
@@WinningEmpire it’s because of the demand for it by business people
@@WinningEmpire and so much damn better. I wouldn’t even use a cheap-o 1080P monitor for the office. It’s just wasting money
Yeah the HP one is only readable because HP had a very large stock, but it does appear to be a great monitor for the price
I want the 34" one
This is such a useful video, i was considering getting a koorui before this lol
Dawid does really good tech stuff
The pixio wow other people were talking about how great the sansui was thank you for the heads-up 👍
Being over budget on my last PC build by $500, I almost bought one of Amazon's $150 monitors, because the PC I owned last last time had one of the early widescreen LCD monitors that offered connection only through DVI or mesozoic port.
@@Tyrian3k I got my dell 165 hz for 150 when it was on sale, waiting for a sale on good monitors is worth it
Get a DVI to HDMI adapter. DVI is basically HDMI without the audio channel.
"why not spend the extra money on a monitor with a better stand?"
because you can reuse a VESA stand, and that completely eliminates any future concerns about ergonomics.
I love how Dawid has the ability to come up with the most amazingly funny insults.
The writing for his episodes is always well done. It doesn't matter if the video is about a topic I don't really care about, I still watch just for the riffs and jokes.

you missed sceptre monitors!!! best value
I feel like colors and ghosting are pretty important though.
The “rubbing gasoline into my eyes” got me so good. Jeeeezis Christ, Dawid. I love you.
I've been using the samsung monitor for the past 3 months, as someone who used a 1080p generic laptop monitor, I am quite happy with it. let me share the pros and cons:
cons:
- stand is terrible, you can actually adjust the verticle angle, but the problem is, it is unnecessarily hard.
- the back is curved, so the screws come with normal vesa stands does not work, you need longer screws (yesterday I placed it on my recently bought vesa stand but it fell randomly as the screws were short thanks to stupid curve at the back.
- that's about it.
pros:
- I think it is quite budget friendy, did not face ghosting/dead pixels etc.
Dang jst finished watching linus's vid on the $100 amazon monitor
I agree, don't cheap out on your display but wait for a sale. I have a curved 24" 1080p 165hz panel from MSI of all companies and I was stunned at how good it looks, definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
Apparently 75Hz is becoming more standard!
60/75Hz wouldn't be a problem to me since I don't play FPS games... I prefer High graphical settings over FPS... as long it says 60ish most of the time... Why not?? Providing the colors & brightness are acceptable enough to be utilized...
@@absurdgaming00 same but 30 fps is playable for me but not fps games no i want that high

About your ergonomics tips: you actually have it the wrong way around. Your neck will be *more* stressed if the monitor is high. Basically all ergonomics guides tell you to position the display below your eye level.
And oh BTW, I seem to recall Sansui making audio gear back in the 90s when I got into hifi.
didnt Linus just uploaded a similar video a day or a couple of days ago?
Yeah and?
LTT didn't actually test more than 1 monitor though.
I am still rocking my AOC 20" 3000:1 contrast ratio 1680x1050 from 2008. Not a single dead pixel and is going strong!
Really informative video Dawid. Thanks so much.
Thanks! I've had that Kurooi 24E4 sitting in my Amazon wishlist for some time now and this made me delete it. Thanks for saving me from wasting my money on it.
I have had 2 pixio monitors. The one I currently have is a 32 curved 1440p 165hz. Great monitor with no issues for me.
Last good tech youtuber on yt . I salute you my friend
I own the 27" 1440p koorai and its surprisingly good. Been super reliable over the course of the year too
2:22 love the subtle Something Awful emote on the box
Dude Thank you! I was really feeling down this morning and this video made me smile! Happy Caturday! 😃
My first ever flat screen monitor was a floor display 21.5 inch Asus.
1080p 60hrtz no speakers and garbage color.
60$ cad.
Still in use by my younger cousin 11 years later.
I am using a used Lenovo LT2423 which was a flagship monitor from like 10 years ago. At least it is very big and has built in speakers.
Pro Tip: look for a used LG (or AOC, but preferably an LG) monitor on eBay or Cragslist, wayyy better bang for your buck; better build quality, as well as better colors, but maybe a little bit of a limited refresh rate.
I'm glad i picked up a Pixio prime, thank you for the video 😊
If you are wall mounting or have limited rear clearance you actually want the downward facing ports in the back. It makes life much easier.
If you try this again, AOC sells a 75 Hz 1080p IPS monitor that is quite good. GREAT video Dawid!
Before Christmas I was buying 24" 1080p 165hz Asus Tuf monitors from BB for $100 USD. The only downside is that they also have a fixed stand height.
You should also check which specific panels these use. Often many monitors in some price range use the exact same panels...
I bought the MSI PRO MP273A fhd 100hz IPS monitor for 113€ on a sale, it's so good and I can recommend it definitely
Sansui is actually quite a known brand, my mom used to have their portable DVD player (the ones with a screen)
I've had a couple of their TV's over the years. Never standouts, but never problems either.
Discovered your channel not so long ago and I love your videos ! Educative but really funny at the same time ! Your sarcasm is also super on point lol ! Keep up the good work man ! :)
Even if the stands suck, never use a box that can and is collapsing in on itself, it'll either dump the monitor now or later when you may not be prepared to catch it.
I am a huge Pixio Fan. I have the PX329 and have been very happy with it.
Great video man, would love to see more budget friendly oriented videos!
I got a 170hz Acer 1440p 27" monitor on sale, for €200, normally it goes for €330. Its absolutely amazing. Better save up some more and get an actually good monitor
this is one of the best videos i have seen that is actually factuall and this also helped me find the best monitor after i have been looking for about 2 hours
As some one who messes with tech from servers to Vintage kit i do love having a VGA port still nothing wrong with having it :D
Hey Dawid, i think you should do these sketchy stuff for extreme budget viewers so they could get a hang on what they are getting.
This video is about to blow up
My work gifted my the Koorui 27N1 and honestly I'm surprised, it's my 2nd monitor and for the price it costed I'd say it's worth it. Dual monitors 27inch 2K and 27inch 1080P is great.
