Great tips! I inherited a rubber tree in 2008 and the previous owner told me to give it coffee once in a while. This works great! Mine is still growing strong 11 years & several cups of coffee later.
@@zzraven777 I add brewed coffee. Sometimes a couple of times a months, other times I go months without doing it. But I would say do it once or twice a month and see. My plant is big, over ten years old and a pour half a cup or a bit more into the soil.
Great video. If people take your advice lots of Rubber Tree Plant lives will be saved. You're a plant hero! 😁👍 One thing I do to keep my rubber trees from leaning and "going towards the light" is I rotate the pot a quarter turn every time I water. Keeps them growing nice and evenly straight.
This video actually really helped me! I have been struggling with my rubber plants for a while....(brown edges on the leaves, leaves dropping, not finding a spot it likes and such) And recenty my normally green and white/yellow rubber tree has put out a pink leave. This video really helped me be on my a-game! Thank you!!!

I stalked your videos to find rubber plant care advice. I got engaged last night so I made a huge purchase to celebrate!! Thank you so much for your videos. They're so helpful 🌿🌿
I found mine at about 4 feet tall with a single stem. It was $10 so I couldn't leave it. The person who sold it to me grew them as a hobby so she kept them outside. It was full of outdoor bugs. I repotted it right away and was worried I'd kill it. The leaves at top were very small compared to the bottom but since I've had it for about 6 weeks its pushed out 3 massive leaves. Its obviously happier but now it look funky lol thank you Harli!!!
I don't have a rubber plant although here is a common plant. All they have it in the neighborhood. Now that you told us the way to propagate i must grab my scissor and go for a mission :)
Thank you for the tips! My variegated rubber tree is losing leaves . I think due to too much watering and direct sunlight. I put them in my courtyard. That sometimes have direct sunlight.
Thanks a lot for your tips. Mine is basically a saint, for I haven’t taken good care of it and is still patiently waiting for my TLC. Now I promise to do it. ☺️

Great tips thank you so much!!! I just bought my third one and it's going outdoors in my veranda as well, since it seems to have acclimated perfectly to the mediterranean climate. My parents have a huge 30+ year old plant, in their balcony, it's so stunning!!
Thank you very much for this informative video! My rubber plant wasn’t doing so well and now that I’m paying more attention to it, I hope it can grow well! Subscribed :)
Took on a sickly variegated rubber tree that’s 28 inches tall. Was sitting in soaked heavy soil. Seemed like there was some fungal stuff going on. Maybe some mealy bugs. So it was quite an overhaul. I thoroughly cleaned the soil away from the roots and gave it new soil and new pot. Also cleaned the foliage. We shall see how it goes.
I have a variegated rubber plant that I got probably 2-3 months ago. It was doing fine, I let it sit in it’s soil I purchased it in as I read you should let it adjust to your house for a while before repotting it. So I repotted it in well draining cactus soil, no perlite though. It did fine for a couple of weeks, and then all of a sudden, all of the leaves have drooped, and I can’t seem to get it revived. I’ve tried watering it more, letting it dry out, moving it further away from the window as I’m in AZ and the temperature outside has increased, so I’m not sure if it was getting too hot. I have no idea what is going on. Please help!!!
I got a variegated rubber plant yesterday that is about the size of yours in his video. The store repotted it for me as I’m new to all this - I started with succulents years ago, then lucky bamboo. A year ago I added some air plants & a monstera that tripled its size in that single year to over 5 ft in diameter soI graduated myself this summer to a few pothos, a birds nest fern and a baby pepperonia. As they survived the summer, I allowed myself to add a large (5 ft) fiddle leaf fig, a beautiful dracaena and this rubber tree plant. A few of the leaves are right at the soil line from the repotting and I’m wondering if I should cut those off or if they are ok left alone? Also Inow notice today a distinct “soil” odor in the 2 rooms the 3 new large plants were added to. I need to keep the doors to those rooms closed since we have pets, but I’ve never noticed this smell when adding other newly potted plants to these rooms. Will this smell dissipate do you think? It’s not a bad smell, but I get migraines that are often odor triggered. Finally, how toxic to animals is the variegated rubber tree plant? It’s the only one of our plants that is really low enough or accessible enough to be of any potential interest to our pets so just in case a pet sitter would ever leave that door open accidentally or something, if it’s deadly toxic to small dogs or our cat, I would move it to a different area if we travel! Great channel! Sorry for the long post. 😳
Had my 7 years inside. Tried different things, leaves dropped, didn’t do well. Put it on my porch this spring and summer. It is beautiful! I am concerned about bringing it inside when it gets freezing weather. Any tips?

Great video. Simple and easy to follow. I have a new baby rubber plant, about a month old. It looks pretty happy, shiny leaves, no brown spots. However, shes' not growing. I'm wondering whether this is normal? Her existing sprouts have not opened up. i.e., whether the plant is in dormancy because of the new changes as it is the middle of summer here at the moment. Any thoughts? I'm keeping her next to the window, wipe him of regularly and have placed a baby pilea next to him as they can buddy up.
Thanks for this video! It was very useful! I have a questiong though: I have a regular green rubber plant and the leaves have started to droop down (without falling off the plant completly!) and I can't figure out what the problem is... I tried different location in the room to try different type of light but it doesn't change a thing... and I think the wattering is ok but now I'm wondering if that could be caused by the water ? It's usually room temperature though. And the thing is that the plant seems healthy all things considered, they're even new growth at the top so... I don't know, maybe you'd have some tips for that ? That'd be really helpful, thanks in advance :)
When this is happening to mine I give it a good soak in the shower. Because the leaves are droopy it makes me think it could be thirsty. Even if you’re watering regularly, the soil could be compacted to the point where water isn’t able to saturate the soil. Try lifting the rubber tree and soil out of the pot and loosening the soil up with your fingers, kind of like a massage that will help aerate. If that’s not an option, you can stab a chopstick down into the soil to break it up. Do any of the leaves have discoloration? Have you fed the plant recently? When did you repot last? Good luck!! 🌱
@@kayla5978 Thanks a lot for your answer! I'm gonna try and loosen up the soil then! I think I last feeded it a few months ago as we're in the sleeping season now I didn't want to saturate it. Hi I have a burgundy rubber plant and need some help. I typically bottom water when the soil is dry and I have never had any problems with my plant I recently lifted it up and saw that there was mold around the base of the plant so I decided to repotted and fresh sterilized soil. And I sprayed the roots and some of the remaining soil that I couldn't get off without damaging the plant with neem oil. The leaves are now drooping and beginning to turn yellow this is the first time since I've had this that I'm losing leaves and it's drooping and I'm not sure what to do.
I recently received a clipping of a rubber plant with barely sprouting roots. I have it in room temp filtered water with a drop of SuperThrive. I forgot about these liking fully sun and just moved it to a direct window location. I hope the little guy fights to grow. He had one new leaf budding when I got him but we'll see.
Awesome, I just happened to buy a variegated rubber tree plant a couple of days ago and was wondering how to care for it!!! :) That lemon juice idea is interesting. Can I use that on other types of houseplants? Thanks!
Yes you definitely can! Just not on plants with delicate leaves. You could also dilute the lemon a bit more if you're worried about it being too acidic for the leaves!
The new leaves on my pink rubber tree are growing white and it’s in a good location. No bright indirect light and being watered only when soil is dry 🤷♀️ I have two and it’s the same issue.
Martha Tejeda I've had a pink one a few feet away from a window and it turned white. I've bought and new one and I'm going to keep it brighter as i've read conflicting info that this will help keep it's colour.
Hi,my rubber plant is growing mostly to the sides with thick branches and I'd like to know if is ok if I cut this side branches to make another plant. Your tips says we should put it in water untill grow new roots. How long it takes that?
When I first got my rubber plant I saw dead leaves pop up immediately..they just kept falling off. I was super worried & upset. Idk what caused it or what changed, but now it’s doing good & there’s a few babies on it.
same thing happening to me. five browning leaves at the bottom (one already fell out) just 10 days after getting it. i only watered once so far, 6 days after getting it. how did you turn things arouns for you?
Great video Harli! A reply to your comment on the last video. I removed the apical bud, because it didn’t budge for one year. As I said, it now has 4 buds on it. Your videos are super helpful!
There’s a rubber plant at the grocery store near me. Because it’s being sold inside I want to believe I can keep it in my apartment that has only north and north-east facing windows. It’s the variety with black/purple leaves. Should I got for it?
I wouldn't recommend. It will survive but won't be pushing too much growth. It sucks to stick a huge plant in a dark corner that barely ever grows a new leaf.
Hi, thanks for the video. A few years back i got a clipping from a friend and plant is growing great, just sometime leaves fall from main stem. Help please. Also you are beautiful just like the plants, wouldnt mind talking to you sometime.
Thanks for this.. Was thinking of planting one. BTW did I understand well that rubber tree plants should avoid direct sunlight. I lived in a tropical country so just let it grow inside the house? Is this rubber plant the same if it became a tree? The less direct sunlight!? Was planning of making a plantation or so in the near future. Thanks for the info and answers Harli
@@carolinemumzie3199 thanks for the reply. so grow them inside first while still young? Then plant them as usual when they are big? How many months before planting them out? Or i can directly let them grow from little outside? Thanks
My rubber tree now has brown tips on the bottom leaves (3 of them :( )!!! Is it most likely over watering? I've checked the roots no sign of root rot. What do I do?? Right now I'm just letting it dry out, will then give a good watering and let it drain. I hate that he's not happy.

Hi,my rubber plant is growing mostly to the sides with thick branches and I'd like to know if is ok if I cut this side branches to make another plant. Your tips says we should put it in water untill grow new roots. How long it takes that?
Thanks for the info
Do you know if new leaves can grow back where previous ones fell off? I'm not talking about new growth from the top or new branches.
Yes they can it just takes a while!
I was hoping you’d address the white powder that can show up on leaves and why it Occurs after tears in leaves?
Thanks!!
Can you do a video on how you propagate rubber plants? Thanks!
So... too much sunlight means my rubber tree will lose its variegation? Will it come back if I move it to a shadier spot in my house?
Great video Harli! A reply to your comment on the last video. I removed the apical bud, because it didn’t budge for one year. As I said, it now has 4 buds on it. Your videos are super helpful!
Thanks! Now I know I'm probably overwatering. I need to show I care by forgetting it once and a while lol
Very informative video
Hi, thanks for the video. A few years back i got a clipping from a friend and plant is growing great, just sometime leaves fall from main stem. Help please. Also you are beautiful just like the plants, wouldnt mind talking to you sometime.
how do u get new growth as I only have leaves on top part?
Great tips! Thanks so much. I've just purchased two rubber plants. I noticed small black ants in the soil. What must I do to eliminate them?
wash the roots thoroughly n replace the soil.
I went to Italy a few weeks ago and there were a lot of Rubber trees, and they were so big, I couldn't believe it
I have a Tineke that isn’t pure white, it has some pink. Will the pink go away?
Its a ruby
Subscribed thanks for sach a nice video
great valuable tips. thank you. 😇
I've had some serious spider mite problems on my variegated rubber tree😅 but it's okay now
I'm glad it's doing better now!
Thanks for the info and answers Harli
rex bautista I went to turkey and rubber trees were growing amazing in full strong sun I also grow my green ficus and also my variegated I’m full sun

thanks for the reply. so grow them inside first while still young? Then plant them as usual when they are big? How many months before planting them out? Or i can directly let them grow from little outside? Thanks
Very informative. Subscribed 👍
My rubber tree now has brown tips on the bottom leaves (3 of them :( )!!! Is it most likely over watering? I've checked the roots no sign of root rot. What do I do?? Right now I'm just letting it dry out, will then give a good watering and let it drain. I hate that he's not happy.
thanks harli that ifo helped alot
Most commonly known as a Weeping Fig or Ficus tree, Ficus benjamina is popular houseplant that is also very effective at purifying the air in your home. According to NASA's Clean Air Study, Ficus benjamina was effective at cleansing airborne formaldehyde, xylene and toluene.
Very helpful, thanks!
