Honestly what worked for me was quitting diet drinks too get off my addiction to artificial sweeteners, which just drove my insulin and cravings. Then I cut sugar drinks entirely, just drinking water and unsweetened iced tea. Now I'm going 16:8 intermittent fasting throughout the week and 12:12 Saturday and Sunday. My cravings dropped off the face of the earth and I'm losing weight. More importantly, I FEEL great. It's hard to describe. I feel more alert, less numb, more energetic. I eat responsibly now. It actually feels sustainable.
It's fantastic that you dialed in what works for your body and you're sharing your new habits-- lifestyle behaviors. You're encouraging everyone to look around at their own habits and start shaking things up. When you change the physical habits and mental habits, all kinds of things start shifting around for the better. Each one of us needs to tune into ourselves and our lives to figure that out. ❤
BTW I'm just figuring out what works for me, too, and intermittent fasting (IF) helps me feel clear minded and energetic. I'm on a 14:10 cycle but I'd like to shift to a 16:8 or maybe throw OMAD (one meal a day) into the mix once per month. Not eating after dinner is hugely impactful for me. My body really does need all that time for the cleaning cycle. I didn't want to accept it but staying gluten free makes a big difference for me, keeping joint swelling and brain fog down. I don't eat or drink artificial sweeteners and I rarely drink sweet drinks. I save the sugar for dark chocolate 🍫 😂. We go on a walk right after dinner and I've seen on my CGM that for me, a walk after a meal flattens that glucose curve very nicely. For me, keeping my carbs at around 80g/ day allowed me to lose 7% of my body weight in 6 mos. I lost about 30 lbs and except for a few blips here and there (road trip, Xmas where I lost a 7 lb weight gain in a month just by returning to usual habits) I've maintained the weight loss for 2 years now. I know to lose another 7% I'm going to need to take on a new habit/ another habit and I haven't figured out what that is yet... but I know I will figure it out! 😊
Thank you I worked in OB/GYN for 40 years and I was able to observe women on HRT versus those women who were frightened because of the study and declined the therapy. I made the decision to start HRT and I’ve been on it ever since which is over 22 years my bones are strong. My heart is good. I haven’t lost any height and my weight is only 10 pounds higher than when I was 18 which is 125 now and I’m 5 foot six and that’s because I indulge, and no other reason. Thank you for being the voice of reason. Finally it’s good to hear someone speak the facts. I wouldn’t go near Ozempic or any similar drug to lose weight because I know the risks.

Just this week, a new study on Ozempic came out saying there is potential permanent vision loss. People need to slow down and make sure the drug is fully tested before they hop on it. There’s not enough long-term studies out there to be sure. Personally, it sounds too good to be true.

The problem with microdosing here in the US is that the pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies have more control than the doctors. My doc was very willing to do microdosing, but my insurance said it wasn't high enough. They refuse to cover the cost unless the dose is raised every month. Why?

Also, wearing a glucose monitor to track any spikes clearly shows that after eating more than 6 ounces of meat per serving does not spike your blood sugar. Regardless, everyone is different, and if measuring protein works for you, go for it. High protein/low carb works for me. More importantly, make sure you are exercising and keeping active throughout the day.
These GLP-1R agonists are NOT a shortcut. Patients still have to change their diets, still have to increase activity without increasing inflammatory responses. They have to be willing to inject themselves. It's not popping a pill. And patients have to manage side effects like diarrhea and decide whether they're tolerable. I think if someone has decided to go any route to improving their health they deserve support and encouragement, not judgment or ridicule.
I did that for years and still was pre diabetec high cholesterol and high glucose. Lived in the gym, hired a nutritionist, cut out drinking for good and got good sleep. Went on HRT. Went on thyroid meds. Nothing worked. So your statement is fairly ignorant, especially regarding those people that have issues from a genetic standpoint.

I'm on monjuro and I had bowel obstruction that led to hernias and extremely bad constipation...I went back on at a lower dose so my skin could catch up. People are having issues and they should be under gastric care using lactulose in conjunction.

I heard from an MD in a different podcast that something like 15% of patients will keep off 80% of their weight loss after stopping the drug. This means the other 85% are gaining back more than that, which I can only imagine would be heart breaking and infuriating. The stats on bariatric surgery are way, way better than that. The cost of bariatric surgery is roughly equivalent to 18- 24 mos. of GLP-1R agonists. We have 4 decades of surgeries to review, they keep getting safer, and so much peer advice is out there to help patients avoid side effects and negative outcomes.
Yes I’ve seen people who look 10-20 years older with Ozempic! It’s better to eat right and exercise. That’s how I’ve been able to stabilize my weight for 15 years.

My mother is in her 70s and she lost 50lbs of pandemic weight the old fashioned way. Moderated her intake and became more physically active.

The evidence for exercise alone and weight loss is poor. You have to get correct nutrition for weight loss, plus some exercise.
