Everytime this bastard does that fucking hipcheck, HE BECOMES THE ENTIRE HURTBOX ITSELF,
It doesn't matter if you're behind or in front of his head, once it does that attack if you touch even at least as much as the tip of it's fin then it'll be no different than a direct hit. Only thing that can save you is an absolute frame perfect roll, or block.

So true, it's just one giant rocky hitbox, I hate this monster so much ESPECIALLY in the old games because of the stupid hitboxes, I like to try and just roll away but a lot of the time it doesn't even work.
