BOOT CARE PLAYLIST [ • DECONSTRUCTING and RES... ]
I have 4 pairs of red wing boots and yes at the beginning they are uncomfortable but after they will become part of you. Amazing brand. Love it
Extremely good advice to go to the Red Wing store to be professionally fitted. I wore the wrong size boot for years and, after getting properly fitted, my 875s and 8111s are a treat to wear.
I have had these boots for over a year now. I wear these boots 95% of the time. The break-in process is tough but once you do break these in you will love them. I wear a 12 in sneakers but I went to the Red Wing store and had them size me. My 9075s are 11.5. I have worn them so much I need to send them off to get resoled.
I have a pair of 1907s. Break in period was about 2-3 weeks. It wasn’t too bad, but my feet were noticeably sore. They feel like slippers now. I love ‘em.
I own a pair of the 8890’s and they are more comfortable and easier to break in than many of my other heritage boots. The cork midsole gets more comfortable each time I wear them
Great review...keep it up bootguy
I wear mine all the time. They are perfect for the wood shop.
I need these in my life!
Great Video Boot Guy. Very Informative,..As for me I am Allready on my Second Pair and they are Very Comfy to work in . Highly Recomend them...
Good advice
These boots are the best!!
The leather on this boot is like butter.
Exactly. Like hard smelly black butter.
I'm planning to get that.
Moc toes are typically 1/2 size down. Round toes are 1 size down. They stretch and the foot bed sinks a bit.
Just bought my first pair in over twenty-five years in nave portage.
I have both a pair of iron rangers and the oro leather moc toe, the moc toe was easily half the period of the iron rangers (2 weeks vs 4). The oro leather was also softer than the oxblood leather on the iron rangers, so both the sole and leather were better for break in
I love my RW moc toes. I own the 1907, 8138 and 875.
Slick tunes as usual.
Wow I love in it, black moc boots
i wear a size 11 with reebok, puma and asics and on red wings i am a size 10.5 D, i own 3 iron rangers and a moc toe, they are awesome when making a statement. nothing says " I'm a grown ass man" better than a pair of red wings, it may not impress the sneakerheads out there but who cares, only a boot guy will appreciate another boot guy
Real nice
1907 just bought them today... it's been a few hours only and I already have a bandaid on my heel.
I love the cat in the beginning, it's fat and cute.
Length doesn’t matter unless your toes are squished. But the most important aspect of a fit is the ball of your feet should line up with the widest part of the boot. Initially the fit should feel comfortably snug.
agree.
Hey BG, great review on these REDWING Heritage 9075. These boots look awesome, as it just so happens that i have been looking for a boot to wear to work every day and these look like the boot i have been looking for. so, i went a bought a pair and i can honestly say that they are every thing i had expected and looking for. i am usually a size 9-1/2, so i tried on a pair of size 9's and thought that they were just a bit too tight for my liking but were ok in length. So i tried on a 9-1/2 and the width was good, they hug my foot very nicely and should mold very well to my foot, the length is spot-on. i am very happy with the boots after 1 weeks of wear and have no blisters at all. I cant wait to see how these boots are in 6 months time, i am assuming they will be so comfortable that i wont even notice that i am wearing them.
Thanks again for the review, keep it up. I am now subscribed!
Thanks for the tips about the Redwings, very helpful.
Nice boots
I love my 9075, but the breaking process is horrible, I was so close to selling then cuz they were so hard, mostly in the foot bed area, it's been a while now and they are barely staring to feel decent, I just took them to work to speed up the breaking period, I do landscape construction
Hoping you can do a comparison between Redwing 9075 and Irish setter 9874
Review the Danner Bullrun 8”!
Still waiting on an oakstreet bootmakers trench boot review!
As far as sizing goes. I wear a 10 in practically ever shoe that I own. In these RW moc toes I’m a solid 9d.
8.5d fits but my toes rub the toes box. Hope this helps
Awesome video, I own one pair of athletic shoes and like 12 pairs of boots lol. 7 pairs of Redwings, 3 pairs of Justins, 1 pair of Chippewas, and 1 pair of Wolverines. All USA made lol.
1/2 Size down. These boots are an easier break-in than most RW Heritage Boots cuz of the Moc toe IMO…. Love the Heritage Line, I have Iron Rangers, Black Smiths and Beckmans…
I have a pair of 875s. I have to say the break in was brutal. Much worse than any of my other boots. Stick with it though, they're worth it. As for sizing I take a UK 11 in trainers and that's the size I got. I do have quite a wide foot so I rarely size down in anything.
I have 8111s in 10.5 ee and they fit like a glove. I have the 9075s in 11d and they feel like they’re too narrow . I haven’t broken them in yet it’s been a good 15 days of wear .
Hey bootguy how bout a review on the redwing Rover 2950
Will we see a review of the Red Wing King Toe ADC #4402 anytime soon?
2 RW moc's, 8US sizing on 9 shoe size. Break in is rough, not for the leather necessarily, but the sole. You can expect well over 100 hours for this boot to start feeling comfortable enough to wear back-to-back days. I tend to put on another pair of boots or shoes and crush the shit out of them, over and over again, as it helps break down the leather.
I like wear. Some don't. Not everyone wants to crush their boots to get softer, I get it.
Now, the issue still, even after months of maybe once-per-week wear is that these soles are still super uncomfortable. I have a lot of boots so it's not like a daily wear thing, but damn, there's no chance I would daily wear these straight out of the box. Every 48 hours for a full day for a month and yeah, sure, however you'll still notice the pain the next day.
I can feel them starting to get better, though. My Truman's had almost no break in so getting back to the RW's is like "damn, why am I doing this to myself", but the reality is, they'll get there. Just takes time. If you can gut it out, do it, break them in, they start to feel a whole lot better.
Oh and I just ordered the 9075's today from Amazon, so I'm 100% OK with subjecting myself to this pain again!
any review for Red Wing's Irish Setter # 9875 gold russet Moc Toe (Please)
What pants are you wearing? Love my 9075, great vid.
It does take some time to eventually break in the leather. That being said, the only downside to this boot and the Heritage Collection is they do not make wider widths in E or EE. If you buy this boot, to my knowledge, you have to choose a D width. Since this is the case, what I did was go a 1/2 to full size up, giving me a little more room for an insole, or to wear double socks. I don't recommend just wearing a flimsy pair of socks with heritage boots, you will destroy your feet with cuts, blisters, calluses, etc. Also, take your time. No need to tear up your feet. Take it slow with the break in, and protect your feet with padding on the heels, thicker socks, and keep the insides of the boots dry after you have worn them out and about.
Look to the 45 last boots
They have more room inside
Best boots ever!!! Now, sizing! I am a size 10 in sneakers, size 9D in the iron rangers and went with the 8.5 wide in the moc toe.
Thiaguinho Oitodois it’s not about the size you wear in other footwear it’s about what your actual Brannock measurement is.
Marc Possoff don’t think much people know what the “Brannock measure” is. Just giving common folks like myself an idea on sizing
Thiaguinho Oitodois it’s bad advice on sizing. It should start with your Brannock size.
Thiaguinho Oitodois horrible advise on sizing dude. It actually causes more confusion on a already hard to size boot
C. C. I the most important part of a good fit is that the ball of your feet line up with the widest part of the boot. And that your feet flex where the boot flexes. That’s the absolute first thing you should check is where the ball of your feet are.
I'm trying to find a store close to me to try them on. trying to get away from wearing sneakers every day now that I'm older.....plus my feet and ankles hurt when I walk a lot
Hey BG, you think you could do more Carolina boot reviews? Redwings as nice as they are are out of my , and most of the people I know, price range. IMO Carolina boots are just as well made but for half the price. I think a more affordable boot would resonate with a bigger audience also.
+nyinfamous2k2 yes I can.
Thanks, really appreciate that since your my go to gear guy. I know you've done a few carolina boots in the past but they have alot to choose from. I found them through one of your older videos. even though the winter boot you recommended was pricey I found a comparable one they offer called the Rex which is a beast and perfect for outdoor heavy duty work in cold temps. picked it up for $130. now im hooked on their boots want to pick up a few more.
nyinfamous2k2 I don't know where you're from, but if you live near Minnesota, red wing does a sale once a year the first Thursday through Saturday of October where boots are easily 50-75% off, including heritage. I've bought both of my pairs at that sale so if you're anywhere near Red Wing, check it out.
Wow thats great to know ill definitely log that in my memory. I Live in NY but I think there is actually a redwing store within 30 min from me if im remembering correctly. thanks for the tip
👍👍👍
I always heard black boots or shoes with brown pants is a major fashion feud paux. 🤷♂️
I guess ya go with what works for you regardless.
How do you think this compares to the Danner Bull Run moc toe? The biggest difference to me is the interior has leather reinforcements in the Red Wing and the Danner has fabric. Are there other major differences? There's a $100 price difference, and I'm wondering if the added cost is worth it for the Red Wing. Thanks
im on the hunt for a pair and there hard to find. i did find a pair in canada in a size 11 i normally wear a 11.5 in sneakers and a 11w in thorogood. im not sure what size to buy
I wear a cheap non slip resteraunt shoe. I wear a size 9.5. They feel snug when new but after a month they lose their shape and support. Do you think if I size down to a size 9 that would fix that?
Putting them on is a pain in the ass when new. Does that improve over time? I have the right size boot but it is difficult to get the foot in.
Do they end up getting a patina looks after awhile
What’s the difference from the boots in your hand and the 8130. Thanks
1907 all the way!
You should consider reviewing Corcoran boots. Yeah, I know they're not hipster boots but maybe review something old school. These boots are American made and have some history. Just saying.
I love the moc toe boots very much. I own a pair of 875 and 9016,after 3 years wearing, they look just amazing. But UA-cam doesn't allow comment with pics , so I can't show the pics ...
Instagram #thebootguychicago
I've already followed you ~
hashtag your boots so we can all see them.
how is this different from the 8130?
How do these fare as winter boots?
Huge fan of your page! I was wondering that was the difference between the 8175 and 9075 model. Not sure what to get
If it's your first pair of boots get a wedge sole boot. If your looking for an aggressive looking dress boot then 8175.
Thank you for responding! I own a few red wing Mocs and some of their Klondike engineers. I just couldn’t find the difference between both leathers
Between the Leathers there's going to be minut detail differences, but there are differences. Basically it all boils down to Aesthetics as long as you're happy with the look and feel of leather you'll be happy with the boot. It isn't like one is stronger or weaker than the other they're both an extremely good hand of leather.
Would this Boot work in winter ?
What's the difference between the 9075 and the 8130?
What pants are they?
Hi BG, what shoelaces do you think goes best with this great boot?
lately, I have been adding leather to all my casual boots. They don't last long but, do they look good.
I have been using Pisgah Range Ltd laces on all my heritage boots. They are the toughest laces period. Checkout my youtube video showing a few that I have in my collection as well as a little bit about the company and the man who started it. I stand behind the company because quality is first priority, customer service is a close second and most of all it is veteran owned. Have a great day!
How do they hold up on concrete all day everyday? All my boots so far wear down fairly quickly
Ironically, the boot that lasted me the longest on concrete were surplus army jungle boots from the 80s. There was some space magic going on with those outsoles.
I was of the impression that the Traction Tred wedge sole isn't particularly durable and wears out quickly.
+Bengt Helland sure,But the comfort out weights the durability.
Is the Traction Tred identical to the Vibram Christ?
Bengt Helland it’s the same as the vibram and this thing will wear out on the heels before you get them really comfy from break-in period. Good thing they resole easy. Which to me is worth the investment
Is this the same boot as the 8849?
Just wondering if the moc toes fit the same as the beckmans
No they don’t. The Beckman boot is on the #8 last. It would typically run 1/2 size down from the Moc Toe. So if your a 10 in the Moc Toe you would be a 9 1/2 in The Beckman
I loved these boots until they got destroyed by a resole then I found out they no longer make this boot...any reason why?
They just opted for the lame Black Prairie with the brown accents. Terrible, terrible move IMO. I just picked up a pair from Amazon today, though, so jump on it if they have it in your size. You won't be finding these for much longer anywhere.
@@DanTrapp yeah I got the charcoal it's a bit better at least
IMO there’s not a heritage boot line that’s in the same league as Red Wing even Thorogood. Red Wing has much better QC than the likes of Thorogood.
Marc Possoff thorogood has good quality boots to and a lot of them don’t need to be broken in, plus their soles last longer. Both are good I wear both
I never liked this color combination as I think it's ugly.
I much prefer my Red Wing 10877s and 10875s.
Why do you talk about the correct width. This model only has one width, you can’t select.
This boots are pricey. Better off with docs
Just my opinion but I think this boot is hideous. A White flat sole has no place on any boot. Maybe I could forgive the White sole on a dress boot of sorts, but not a boot with the word "heritage" in it's title. Thanks for the video! Best wishes.
+MrTrenttness Thanks for your input. I wonder who else feels like you do about this boot.
TheBootGuy
Thank you for not taking this has personal critism or a knock on this channel. I grew up in Alaska have worn one boot or another my entire life so and if I didn't think you have a good channel I wouldn't be here.
Will you review some cork boots some time? :)
Its excelent in urban mixed environment
