- Although the snack king is still abroad, NOTHING will stop him from snacking. It’s time for another Snack or Pass! Japan Edition! This time I’m rating some very common Japanese snacks so you might have an idea of what you’d like to try if you ever come to Japan. But honestly quite a few of these can be bought overseas. Anyway, let the snacking commence.

(18:50) A Japanese sugar candy ‘konpeito’ has a root in a Portuguese sugar candy ‘confeito’. Portuguese Catholic missionaries introduced ‘confeito’ to Japan in the 16th century. Japanese people use two or three lumps of ‘konpeito’ with a cup of Japanese ‘matcha’ espresso tea. Please try this way.

You should try カメカメSours (also a muscat flavour gummy) & my absolute favourite Japanese snack, クリームコロン (a bit hard to find sometimes but comes in lots of flavours)

I considered making a counter of how many times you said 'snack' " Snack King" and "snacking" because it reminded me of Mean Girls where they say "say crack again" but obviously in this instance snack 😂.

I had the little mushroom shaped cookies before (courtesy of some Japanese gymnasts) and the mix of chocolate and biscuit was great. Have seen the grape gummies before, might go buy some next time I get the chance. Also YOU GOT MINT FLAVOURED AERO?! The envy

Takenoko No Sato and Kinoko No Yama are my wife's favorite treats.
I've never found Takenoko No Sato at the Asian grocery store that I used to live near. But I would buy Kinoko No Yama nearly every trip. I love those little mushrooms with their chocolate caps.
You are making me so envious and so sad that I am so far away from all of the Asian grocery stores! If I am not careful, I'll stock up only on biscuits and candies on my next trip back home! 🤣

I remember eating Pop Rocks when I was a kid...that was some AGGRESSIVE popping! Sometimes the popping felt like it was about to dislodge your teeth! Good times.

I love japanese snacks. I had an abo from Bokksu some time ago - but it was a bit to expensive for my taste - you get very little amount of snacks inside. Even if they are probably of very good quality. Shipping this around the world is probably not the best idea.

I CANT remember what they’re called but there’s a grape candy there that you can peel like an actual grape. You can eat all of it but I guess it’s designed like that to slow you down with eating them lmao

Until you said Aero I never knew it was sold here in the US but I found it in the world foods section at my store. Never bought it though
Kinoko No Yama = more pretzel like biscuit (think along the lines of Pocky). Takenoko No Sato is more a shortbread style cookie.

「こんぺいとう（金平糖）」は伝統菓子ですね。作っている過程を見ると印象が変わると思いますよ。長い日数かけてつくるんですよ（味は変わりませんが・・・）
Could the snack king go out and try street food? I've seen lots of videos of different street food so I dunno what would appeal to him but maybe try like one savory, one desert and like one drink you've never had? If you've left Japan and are back in Thailand I guess you could still do it just be harder to find Thai food you've not tried😂

I love your snack reviews and it just happens I returned from Japan 4 days ago (to the U.S.) and actually brought home some of those snacks! I personally liked the little "mushrooms" but the bamboo shoots were good too. What I can't get enough of are the large rice crackers. I bought 4 different kinds and carried them in my carry-on bag to keep from crushing them. I didn't try as many snacks as you did but overall, I thought Japanese snacks were lovely & not too sweet. Not a fan of sour, so skipped those. Keep the different country snack reviews coming!! I enjoy your videos.👍👍🍬🍭

Perth you should do Indian snacks next. Indian snacks are really really yummy, and even though they are kinda spicy(savory ones) the spice is actually flavourful and not just straight out hot. The sweet ones are even better.
I agree. But there are so many kinds of snacks throughout different regions of India.
