- Hey Guys! The Snack King returns! For some reason Japan likes making exotic KitKat flavours and in today's video I'm indulging a little and trying 20 flavours of KitKats. It turns out ranking wasn't the hard part it was actually eating 20 KitKats. Anyway, if you're ever in Japan try and pick some of these up. Definitely worth it to try and least once.

KitKats are so popular in Japan because the name was localized to kitto katto, which sounds like kitto katsu, "never fail"/"you'll succeed". So they're popular for students, especially around exam time. They're often given as encouraging gifts.
The reason for the variety of flavors is two-fold. The first is they're released regionally and often have the flavor of local specialities so they're popular as omiyage (and as an adventure to try flavors you don't normally have access to). The other is they release flavors for 2-3 weeks so convenience stores always have something new from KitKat and they bring back popular ones.
Thanks for the explanation ! I knew Japanese sweets tend to be very diverse and there are lots of seasonal limited editions, but I didn't know the specific story of KitKats !

Choc-orange is the superior flavor combo honestly. I think the dark chocolate kit-kats hit best when you refrigerate them & eat the cold nom

OMG!!!! Yay! You are very welcome. So glad that you are sharing the KitKats I sent. Although I did not expect you try to eat 20 KitKats in one go! I think KitKats are such great novelty gifts from Japan. As for why we have so many… the story goes that is comes from the fact that KitKat (Kitto Katto in Japanese) sounds like Kitto Katsu, “You will surely win.” A couple years back, KitKat even partnered with Japan Post to mail KitKats out at exam time. The ad campaign ended up winning an award!
Btw, my favourite flavour is Coke and Lemon Squash. Technically two flavors, but they come in a pack together. The purple Yam 紅いも are also amazing. I’ve got some KitKats left from the last shopping spree so I am going to bring them to work tomorrow. Wonder if there will be any new flavour that I really like.
Anyway, really glad you liked. If I happen across any more strange flavours, I will pass them along. Lol.
PS, That is the first time I heard someone say”Excuse my French” and actually mean the French language. Lol

@@PerthNakhun You are so welcome. Shared some out at work today and tried the Adult Strawberry and the Choco Orange. I understand what you mean about both. The strawberry felt more based off Strawberry Icecream than the fruit to me. And the Choco Orange was amazing.

The first thing i thought when I saw the squirrel wrapper was "Geez, I wonder what squirrel flavour tastes like?". Then when it was acknowleged that it was pistachio, i thought "Oh, that makes more sense".

Tip: it helps to take a sip of water after each sampling to avoid feeling sick by the end of the taste test 👍🏼 helps to cleanse the palette too.

tried this kitkat that came in that crate with other japanese snacks, it said “for coffee break” on it. while i do love coffee sometimes, i feel it was too sweet..kinda too bitter as well 😭😭
i honestly rarely eat chocolate, i used to love sweet things but now being older it’s overwhelming 😂

the peach and lemon ones are my favourite. there was also a melon one that i really liked. but i think part of it is that i like the combination of fruit and white chocolate just in general

Out of those you've tried, I think I have tried probably 3-4 out of 20.
Sakura Japanese Sake flavor is my personal favourite so far. My friend gave it to me when she came back from Japan 😊
I don't know if it's like a seasonal flavor that you can just get it within a period of time tho but I hope you can get acquainted with it.
I love the fact he tried the peach flavour, loved it, ate the other half, then proceeded to say it wasn't that big of a deal 😂

Yesterday, i got three flavor of chocolate. Asap i remind of you, and after finish those three mini chocolate bars(normal chocolate, white choco, little dark choco) , i relazied thay how sweet you be. So sweet for me who advoice not happening diabities.

Next time dun do it in one go😂 I think my favorite favor is sake, which is interesting coz I’m not a big fan of alcohol. Wasabi favor is also interesting, let’s try these two when you’re in Japan again

OMG, my 3 favourite flavours weren't there. I love the rock melon 🍈 kit kat, taro kit kat, oh and the apple pie kit kat. All great flavours if you like white chocolate base!
Out of the imported kitkat flavours, I have gotten to try the regular and strong matcha flavour (regular wins, love that one), one that was "for coffee" and the chocolate orange one (so good). I've seen cheesecake and (I think) maple around but might be misremembering the latter. Would love to try every exotic flavour I can find but they're so darn expensive here :/ Hope the resulting chocolate-induced food coma wasn't too bad

That was great! KitKat is my favourite candy since they first came out. I have tried the peach one and I did like it. The flavoured ones here in the U.S are very expensive. I have a sugar problem so I wish they could come up with something low in sugar. Love all your videos, Perth!!

According to my knowledge Japan has that many different flavors because KitKats are used kind of like good luck charms for exams. They also have a space to write down good wishes or messages before giving it to someone.
I'm the same with combo of Chocolate & Orange, it's my all time favorite. It's a go to for me. Keep up the amazing work hun. Lot of hugs and love from Long Island NY.

Japanese kit kats are the best!! Thank goodness in America, we can get them at various markets but also World Market. Never had red bean paste before, but that one is one of my favorites now! But also the salted lemon.

i love that they have an adult sweetness category! that's such a cool idea. if i could try one of those i think i would choose either caramel (because its my favorite flavoring (generally speaking ) ) or the sweet potato because it sounds pretty interesting. the only sweet potato i'm familiar with is the american one (that's orange and sometimes called a yam) which could be pretty good, but also it's probably a different sweet potato which i would love to try someday. :) fun video!
I really like the Matcha and Apple pie KitKat. I also tryed the sakura flavour, but this was way to sweet for me. When I'm in Japan again, I will try more. It's sad, that even it's a German brand, we only have a few flavours here.

Ooooh nice video! I've always curious about kitkat japan but only tried cheesecake, daifuku and otona no amasa series so far. I hope you also informed us about which variant get the longlast and strong aftertaste because the daifuku variant got me surprised with the strong and longlasting aftertaste 😢

Nice video. Cute with the small voices here and there. I understand that you might not want to eat kitkats for a while after this, because everything in moderation. Yeah chocolate orange I feel is a solid flavour for many like nuts and caramel if you are not gonna have the regular Milk, dark or White variant of any chocolate.

I am curious with Pistacio kitkat, I can't recall if I already try that flavor but would love to know the actual taste. My Aunt who's living in Japan for decades, likes to buy Dark Chocolate kitkat, matcha, and Strawberry. Thanks to her because I get to love Dark Chocolate flavors. It's not too sweet, really touches the Dark Chocolate flavor.

So jealous, our largest Asian market here in Rochester, NY only has two or three different flavors at a time. Last trip, we were lucky enough to get strawberry chocolate mousse.

My favorite Japanese KitKat was a Sakura Sake seasonal flavor they had 2020 or 2021 I think? Very floral and I miss it. Even then, I could probably only eat 3 without feeling a little sick so I had to laugh a little at you here. BTW that green shirt is quite nice, kind of celtic looking.
I wanna try the green tea and the lemon ones. Usually I go for the mocha flavored ones we have in the US.
the other day i saw a video from a greenpeace campaign when they showed how kitkat cut down trees to extract coconut oil and in those trees lived a type of monkey that was dying due to indiscriminate felling
A few months ago the store I work in (in the Netherlands) got 3 flavors of KitKat. The cheesecake one, the chestnut one and a minty one. The minty one sold out very quick. The cheesecake to. But the chestnut one was not a succes. Us Dutchies are no chestnuts fans 😂. They ended up getting expired. We had to throw them away. For me a chance to bring them home cheap and try them out (I didn’t want to buy them since I didn’t know if I liked the flavor and they were quite expensive for little chocolates). I thought they tasted quite nice. Definitely not my favorite but still nice. Preferred the minty ones though.
