I’m kinda late but the Japanese peanuts were actually created by a Japanese man that had immigrated to Mexico. He created them in order to make enough profits to be able to provide for his family. His story is actually quite touching!
TLDR of his story: He was fired ( I believe) from his job and was forced to move out of Mexico City due to high expenses. He moved to a smaller town and with not much option decided to start selling snacks around his neighborhood in order to provide for his family. After a bit he decided to come up with his own original snack while including a tiny bit of his own culture to it and that’s how the Japanese peanuts came to be. Ofc his brand became extremely popular and even til this day his original brand is still a family owned business.
Edit: I’m so sad I didn’t know editing my comment would take Perth’s heart off but I genuinely wanted to inform more people about this :(.

HAHAHAHA I laughed a lot at that (I'm not from Mexico but I am from the Caribbean and we also have saladitos here but with a different name) I remember also sticking the whole thing in my mouth as a small child before learning that I needed to nibble/suckle on it 😭😭😵💫

The Japanese style peanuts actually does have to do with Japan, they where invented by a Japanese man called Yoshigei Nakatani in Mexico. Loved the video ♥️♥️♥️

The de la rose snack at 7:16 is made of Marzipane. It’s made of crushed almonds and sugar. We have a lot of it in Germany though I know it more as a doughy texture than a crumbling one. I personally only like it it small quantities, I can’t eat big chunks like this.

I love Pulparindos ❤️, and my husband is a fan of Mazapanes. My Abuelito used to make garapiñados at home, they were so good.
I remember when were kids we didn’t bother with the Duvalin spoon, we just licked it off the container hahahaha.
Chocolate is originally from Mexico, where it has slightly different presentations. It can be at times a little bitter, and not always as sweet.
The chocolate that most of the world is used to is a descendant to what colonizers made after they took it back to Europe.
It doesn’t taste bad, but I definitely prefer my country’s flavor 🇲🇽 ❤️

Another things about the chocolate is that chocolate in Carlos V and paleta payaso is not rreal chocolate is cacao butter because the real chocolate is expensive and this sweet candy are cheap less that dollar, the sense of cacao butter is like oíl or butter in your mounth and the real chocolate is like a melt in mounth and the temperature for melt is less

Stick a saladito in a cut 🍊, let it sit for a minute, then gently squeeze it to release the juice...suck the the juice right from the half 🍊 and the salt mixes perfectly! Yum! By the time you've squeezed all the juice, the dried plum is soft and you can eat it. It's definitely an acquired taste, but so good! I grew up eating these...when you live 60 miles from the border with Mexico, you're lucky to experience all the delicious food from there!

as a mexican, i'm also noticing how we love our tamarind and peanuts in candy/snacks lol. but I've also noticed how a lot of our candies are spicy, sweet and sour.... i can see how that can throw off ppl who didn't grow up with these types of candies. overall, was so happy to see you react to these snacks and hopefully you get to try some more like chips or some actual food!!

It's interesting how some of these things are also very common here in Brazil (although just a little bit different, maybe adapted or just tangent Latino culture). Like the caramel coated peanuts are snacks I ate every Festa Junina, we did it at home and it was my favorite!
It's Spanish thing, also Portuguese. Adaptation of many recipes with local ingredients. Don't know other countries of Latin America there are more like native recipes than colonized ones, in Colombia is a mix

El dulce que más me gusta de ahí es la paleta de sandía 😳👌, y ese dulce "saladito" nunca en mi vida lo conoci jajaja.
Yo te hubiera recomendado la paleta de tarrito, las cachetadas, la cocada, krankis, tutsi pop, la paleta de mango con chile, y hay un dulce que amoooo, no recuerdo su nombre pero es un polvito que hace que truenen en tu boca cuando los comes, son muy ricos.

Also, I was surprised at how fluently your English is. I watch cutie pie and when you spoke English there I didn’t pick it up. Then I was like, what is that accent? I was brainstorming and then realized it was Australian. Then I searched it up and and only saw Thi and was like, “maybe I’m wrong”. En Bangkok hay algunos restaurantes Mexicanos; entre ellos hay uno pequenito que se llama SUNRISE TACOS, donde venden comida Mexicana; me quede gratamente sorprendido del sason y el autentico sabor Mexicano que tiene ese lugar, mucho mejor que muchos restaurantes "Mexicanos" en California y otros estados de la union americana. Habia en ese restaurante (Sunrise Tacos), una chica Thailandesa muy agradable, quien habla un Espanol impresionante y dijo que lo aprendio en 6 meses; me ha dicho que el dueno del restaurante es de Colima y eso la motivo mucho a aprender espanol. Curiosamente Thailandia y Mexico tienen muchas cosas en comun, incluyendo la gente, se parecen mucho a los Mexicanos; sus ingredientes para la comida son escencialmente los mismos pero preparados en una forma diferente (chile, tomate, cilantro, cebolla, etc)
