Im enjoying this trial and Forgot that one of them is the culprit 😭 And this content is very interesting because there is no spoil who is the suspect thank you❤❤
I was hoping for the trial to have more voiceover than last time, but I suppose adding it to the non-stop debate is OK for now. Also, is it OK if I share who I think the killer is? I was going to express my opinions on a few characters, but after reading your pinned comment, I'm afraid you wouldn't like that.
@@sophies2522 she mentioned she often had to sneak into class/school and steal a uniform. Until she inevitably gets caught, and has to start the cycle over again. So in all honestly it wouldn’t surprise me that she doesn’t have those certain skills. Plus I imagine, like movie theatres, school supplies are just far too flammable XD
David definitely lied about who's his secret was 💀💀💀💀💀. The "you blame yourself for your family's dead" has to be Xander Plus I bet my left hand he waited until everyone else went so he knew no one said Xander's name so he could use it.
So did he just take a risk? Because there were multiple people who didn't want to reveal their secrets. If one of them had Xanders actual secret, then he would've been fucked. Also makes me wonder why he lied in the first place. There's only two possible reasons I can think of. 1) He received his own secret or 2) He doesn't want to let the person know that he has their secret. In that case, it would most likely be Terukos secret, because she keeps on saying that she doesn't know hers. So maybe he's trying to figure out what Role Teruko has in this killing game without letting her know?
Protecting Teruko by having her secret? Usually in this case the culprit/killer would try to gamble/risk by using a dead man as a excuse such us motive/secret. 😎 I bet few more episode Teruko would ask MonoTV about Min and Xander received someone else secret which I think likely to happen. Who knows? 😎
Perhaps he, for whatever reason, trusts Teruko, or realizes that she's too useful in the trial and if he exposed her secret everyone would doubt her too much
@@snakesareamazing min has xander’s actual secret, and this might be a stretch but I’m guessing he knows what Xander’s secret is or something like that. As for why he waited idk
Giving big props to J. She was the true G of this episode especially calling out both Ace and Nico for what they did. It *was* a little annoying (and kinda sus...) that Hu keeps defending Nico when he very clearly tried to kill Ace but J was quick to remind Hu of that as well.
100%. Out of the whole cast, Hu would definitely be my least favourite for that reason, but I'm interested to see if there's anything deeper behind it.
@@xvgm24 same, hu is one of my least favorites for that and also because it feels like she either doesn't have much character depth or we don't know much about her. i wonder if there's a reason for that..
Also man, Nico really went and confirmed that they actually did try to kill Ace. It wasn't a "they stumbled upon him and tried to save him". But I agree with J, Ace was wrong for provoking them SO MUCH, but Nico was also wrong for trying to kill him in retaliation. There are a million other things Nico could have done.
@@snakesareamazing I'm.. actually forming a theory about it. I think Nico was manipulated. Like someone got in their head and convinced them that it would be best to kill Ace. Maybe I'm over thinking and the answer is simply "Nico is a lot more messed up than we thought" but I'm hesitant to think that And I think this person was Hu. Cause now that Nico said that they did try to kill Ace, I'm even more suspicious then of HOW they got Hu's wire. Cause neither them nor Hu have said anything about the wire. Rose's turpentine was talked about, but not the wire? It makes me think that maybe Hu convinced them to kill Ace and gave them her wire so they could do it. For what, I'm still not sure. Hu has said how she didn't want to say her secret, so I'm really eyeing her right now
@@vacru8182 Omg no way, I literally had the exact same theory. This entire chapter Hu has been incredibly overprotective over Nico and at first I thought that she's just being a regular mom friend or whatever, but maybe there's more to it. There was also this strange moment in the trial were she suddenly interrupted Nico for no reason, which was uncharacteristically rude for someone like her
@@zeospark9715 I guess, but I feel like that has more to do with Levi's past. He did say to Eden that he has a hard time being nice, even if he tries to be. And there's also the fact that his family disowned him and that they were all bad influences on each other. I wouldn't be surprised if he killed someone in his past. He's probably the murderer with no remorse
I honestly loved J this episode...Unlike Hu, she didn't take sides with Nico and rightfully berated both them and Ace... She's better at resolving problems than Hu ever could be...She was so real for that!!
It's strange that Hu is so focused on protecting the murderers (Min and Nico) and not the victims like Teruko and Ace (Of course this was his fault but there were other ways to solve it)
My theory: the murder did actually occur at night. The killer took water from the relaxation room beforehand, and stored it in jugs (we saw them in the trash can) to use it later. That's how they were going to trick everyone the murder happened before nighttime, and acquire an alibi
I don't remember how the jugs were, but could they also carry the fishes inside? I was imagining them kinda big, like koi fish, but maybe I was just wrong because obviously they need to carry the water somehow from room to room.
@@alllenstar2721 WAIT YOU ARE RIGHT, they were broken in a specific point. It wasn't all broken, but there was a small gap. So maybe they used it as a counterweight? Like, fill them with water and attach them at the end of the rope so it's easier to lift Arei's body? Maybe using the bar at the top of the swing as a pulley? Using too much force could potentially break the jug's handle. Then you could just dump the water on the floor (or maybe the jug being broken let the water escape). But if that were the case, why tf not use tap water instead? And why dump the water there instead of the water fountain (?) on the gym? Maybe they couldn't dump it back on the relaxation room if it was closed. Every option I think of seems too convoluted and unnecessary lmao
Pretrial thoughts: I can’t wait to see how Charles will contribute to the trial. He’s clearly shown himself to be more intelligent than the majority of the cast, even the protagonist herself as their scenes together emphasize. It’s possible he’ll develop to be Teruko’s deadly life support for the rest of the series, given he manages to live further. It’s hilarious, really. Teruko is a protag that could qualify as an antag by normal Danganronpa killing game standards due to her ideology, while Charles, who gives off the first impression as a Purple Budget Byakuya, is just as threatening as his pet cactus given what we have seen from him since the first trial and even snippets of foreshadowing before it.
To be honest, I think right now, Teruko tolerates him more than any other character. Mainly because, like her, Charles is usually straight to the point as seen during this trial
David knows who’s at fault for the killing game If you look at the secrets board it shows who got what secret, David got the one stating whos at fault for the killing game This may be why he’s acting so out of character. Observing his character he can barley keep eye contact throughout the chapter and is now snapping, last chapter when someone died he snapped and would apologize but now he’s not apologizing at all, you can tell he’s at his breaking point and an inconvenience away from loosing his shit He will 100% be the main suspect this trial but I don’t think he’s the culprit, it’s way to obvious
Second part of what I posted prior since yt won't let me post it together! I'll explain (Briefly) why I think each pairing is a foil below and give my thoughts on potential meanings behind these foil relationships and how they could affect the story going forward. Xander-Min Student & Rebel, good girl and bad boy, conforming to rigid societal expectations for your own survival & revolting against the very core of a society itself in order to achieve some greater change. These two are the most straight forward and the implications of these characters being foils is obvious given that we've already seen the conclusion of chapter 1. Teruko-Charles Harder to pin in exact words! Both are largely pragmatic logic based characters but where Teruko seems to be set in ideals pre-determinism and truly believes she's cursed, Charles believes purely in 'science' and the current direction his character is going in indicates that he believes it is illogical to rely purely on preconceived notions of distrust based on superstition and it is much more beneficial to work with others in order to achieve the result you want. I think Charles is obviously meant to be a character which directly challenges Teruko's worldview more than anyone else when they interact, but I don't know I've got a good enough grasp on his character to really pin why he'd specifically be a foil to Teruko thematically. Eden-Arei This one is pretty obvious! Arei has butted heads with Eden since day one and given what we've seen of Arei this chapter it's pretty obvious that where Arei is 'Kindness is weak, it's a dog eat dog world', Eden is 'Kindness is not weakness, we'll get through this by supporting each other'. I'm sure there's more I could say here, their interactions are always interesting to me, but I think this one is pretty straightforward all things considered. Nico-Ace These two have come into direct conflict a lot this chapter but I'm not sure I have a super deep understanding of either character. On the surface level Nico is gentle where Ace is abrasive, Nico loves working with animals where Ace hates it, Nico is blunt & arguably brave, where Ace is very indirect in how he expresses his feelings through words & he is a coward. I think there's something here about confidence, self expression, and being a bully but I really don't know I've pondered too deeply about either of these characters. I'd love to here anyone's else ponderings about them though! Hu-Veronika Really interesting one! We haven't seen these two interact at all yet but I can definitely see them coming into conflict. Hu is a moderator who plays it straight while Veronika is an instigator who seems to like to see the double meaning in everything. I think Veronika is being set up as the main rival/antag until we confront the actual mastermind so I think she's probably gonna go off the rails (maybe this chapter if theories of her tampering with the body are right) and that's gonna cause Hu's character to heavily come into conflict with her. Right now though the two aren't really very intertwined. Rose-J Another slightly odd pairing since they've seemingly rarely interacted, but they actually thematically parallel each other quite a bit. Rose is a disparaged artist who doesn't even know how to make something original anymore while J is an active visual effects artist who is passionate about her craft (Which we haven't seen a lot of, but she seems to hate the people she's around in the field not the craft itself, so I assume she has a passion for it.) Rose is trapped in her talent in order to protect her family while J's talent is her way of running away from a family which is abusive towards her. Also J's surname is Rosales while Rose is named Rose, a type of Rosales. Minor but still a neat detail. Arturo-Levi Really weird one! We don't know anything about Arturo. Like at all. We haven't had really any vulernable moments of him, he's mainly been his one quirk so far. With Levi we have a little more insight into his home life and how they were a toxic influence on each other, however we have limited information in this regard, so anything I could say about him is just speculation. That being said I do think the fact that we have this pairing can be used as (soft) evidence in itself for some speculation regarding the characters pasts. (Esp in junction with the secrets we were given this chapter.) On a superficial level, Levi's talent is one where he sees the beauty within someone and brings it out using their style whereas Arturo's talent (And whole character) is about enhancing what he considers 'natural beauty', something he considers an intrisic trait one cannot change. He considers anyone who is 'ugly' beneath him and worships those he would call beautiful as if they were gods. In this aspect, they're obviously pretty diametrically opposed. Whit-David This one seems pretty obvious to me! Whit has been described multiple times as a very 'empathetic' person and he seems to authentically want to connect with and care about those around him, while David so far has been portrayed as a man who in his most authentic (which we've seen him in) is apathetic at best towards those around him and at worst actively resent them. David is a manipulator who seeks to use others in order to further his own goals while putting on a facade of kindness and geninuine care while Whit is an empath who ernestly tries to connect with those around them because he cares about them as people, even if his method of doing so can come across as snide or abrasive at first. This is even reflected in the symbolic motifs which the two characters sport--hearts and stars. Stars shine bright and give people hope & direction, but in all reality they're distant & don't really do anything for people in the long run. The phrase 'don't meet your heros' is often applied to 'tv stars' and I think this phrase pretty much sums up David's character. He puts on a facade of hope & kindness but in all reality he's callous & apathetic towards those around him. They just exist as a means to an end so far as he's concerned. Hearts on the other hand are obviously usually associated with love, and in a literal sense and very close to all of us. They're vital and we couldn't function without them, and they're often associated with the soul, something vital to our very being. While stars might look pretty and give us hope, our hearts, or our souls are what give us our inherent human value which lets us really care about people. While Whit & David haven't come into direct conflict so far, or really interacted at all to my knowing, I think they're going to be very big foils to one another going forward in the story as David shows his true colors & Whit becomes more essential to more people as people whittle away.
I haven't noticed a lot of these differences, which is disappointing for myself considering how much i love symbolism. You make very good points! Edit (i wrote this at 3am initially lol): the hearts and stars symbolism for Whit and David is so fucking smart oh my god. Last school year, for state testing (eugh) I had to write an essay describing the symbolism of hearts and stars in a story I read. The meaning of stars being popular and influencing and (albeit indirectly) guiding people, but being inherently distant and meaningless is such a wonderfully smart symbol for David's character. i did NOT mean to ramble. Oops. (editing out the P.S. i misread the paragraph doubles oops)
SPOILERS!!! Also, I'm going to be talking a lot about Eating disorders in this comment, so tw for EDs (And a very brief mention of suicide). So I've been seeing a lot of people connecting the dots so that Ace has the 'poisoning the competition' secret and Arturo has the 'you still refuse to eat even though your body's falling apart' secret. I'm not going to comment on what Arturo's secret is because I admittedly haven't put too much thought into it, and after jumping to conclusions last episode I'm not gonna do it again. But as for Ace's secret, I'm fairly confident that his secret is the 'refusing to eat' one. My evidence? Well, as many others have pointed out, Ace is the 2nd lightest in the cast, only being beaten by Eden. He's 117 pounds, she's 110. And in case you haven't noticed, Eden is really tiny (5'2). Secondly, the creator, during an ask game confirmed Ace's favorite foods are low-cal, (While Arturo's were something along the lines of 'stuff that makes him feel high-class'). Thirdly, he did not eat the cake in chapter 1, and as far as we saw, was the only one to refuse. And honestly? This being his secret would clear up confusion about a lot of his actions. I was thinking about who could possibly have the not-eating secret, and my first thought was "Everyone's been showing up to group meals, though. I mean, the only way no one would've noticed the person in question wasn't eating is if they caused some big distraction at every meal." But guess who's been causing a big distraction at almost every single meal? Ace. Every meal, he finds some excuse to start some dramatic argument with Nico. And honestly, when this happened for the first time in chapter 1, I questioned his motives but figured he was just being a jerk. But after the secrets were revealed, I realized the pattern. Ace starts an argument, everyone jumps to the person he's arguing with (so usually Nico's) defence, and then Ace uses the argument as an excuse to leave the cafeteria. And after all the commotion he's caused, it's not like anyone's going to beg him to stay, so they let him. And since Nico got Ace's secret, (if my theory is correct), then it would clear up why Ace has been even more mean than usual to Nico this chapter. And once David took away the only leverage Ace had against Nico, he started getting even more desperate, probably trying to scare Nico into not telling anyone. And Veronika even points out in one of the past episodes (One of the early chapter 2 ones, maybe 5?) that Ace has no motive to be arguing with Nico. She says he doesn't put stock in Nico's opinion, so why's Ace getting so mad about the stuff they say? She says stuff like this, among other reasons why none of it makes sense, but at the time I figured Ace was just scared and insecure. But now, I'm thinking maybe she was starting to catch on that Ace didn't actually want to argue with Nico, just divert everyone's attention enough for them not to notice he didn't eat much. So then Ace got defensive and started arguing with her instead. Extreme mood swings are also a symptom of an eating disorder, and considering how emotional Ace is 24/7, that seems like a sign as well, even if it's a bit more of a stretch than my other evidence. Then there's fainting, another symptom, and in chapter 1 Veronika and Arturo mention that Ace quote on quote 'fainted from fear' but honestly that seems very in-character for him whether he's got an eating disorder or not, so I'm not sure I could really call that evidence for my theory. Off-topic, but if this is Ace's secret, many who have Anorexia (Which is the medical term for what I've been talking about) also have poor wound healing. And Ace just almost died. Not good. So yeah. At this point, I'm having trouble believing his secret could be anything but him having an eating disorder. As interesting as it would be for the 'hopeless suicidal child' one to be his, especially considering how he almost died, I think this one fits him better at this point in the story. Edit: HELL YEAH I GOT IT RIGHT (I made this comment before the episode premiered)! I can't wait until chapter 3 daily life when his secret is actually addressed by the cast. Knowing Veronika, she probably figured out Ace's secret on day 1 and has noticed all the stuff I did, and probably stuff I didn't notice, too. So maybe, just maybe, we can hope for an Ace redemption arc? Fingers crossed.
Omg your brain is so huge 😳 I never really thought of that being the reason Ace was being so confrontational! I honestly thought it was because he was scared of the situation he was in (and who wouldn't?) but didn't want to be seen as weak/easy pickings so adopted a more aggressive personality in hopes that would prevent him being killed. Though to be fair I can be a bit dense and not connect the dots instantly so I probably didn't see the signs that Ace possibly had an eating disorder like you pointed out in your comment, and if your right I hope they talk about who has what secret so that Ace can at least calm down a little, it's probably exhausting being so angry all the time!
Yup, I agree. I also think this is the case, as I'm one of the people who pointed out that this is his secret. But you totally nailed the explanation. Well done! Another two things that I may add to this are that Jockeys have a special diet that makes them as light as possible, so it could influence their anorexia. Second is the arm wrestling competition from chapter 1. Ace was totally crushed by Xander. Now, Xander may be strong physically, with being a rebel and all, but there's no reason Ace would be beaten that badly. Unless due to eating so little, there's barely any physical strength in him.
@@-hikikomori-7191 I don't necessarily dislike him, but he's been acting awfully suspicious. He wanted to tell his secret last, lied about his secret from day 1, said he was just mistaken about what his secret was, but then doesn't say the real one. I think he's the manipulator or he actually got his secret. And if he's the manipulator, maybe he manipulated Xander to kill Teruko and is trying to cover it up now that he's dead?
arei was confronting David being like “you know.. that secret” basically calling out his fake one, which means David is (likely) a fucking remorseless murderer yall 🤠 as that’s the secret arei got
I'm wondering how much of a role will have the secret that Arei recieved. Are we going to expose who's the "murderer with no remorse" or will we just solely focus on the events of the case? Whatever is the case, I'm very much looking forward to find out.
@@Caffeinated-Maus David could have easily lied about that and we already got major backstory for xander and we know for fact he has major family death trauma. Also I am like 90% sure that motive is actually Teruko's what I don't get is why David lied there what does he gain from this unless his plan is to make everyone belive that his motive is the family death one as to hide his actual motive.
I always come back to this specific episode, because of one thing that always strikes me. The presentation of the revealing secrets segment is just so good?? It’s stylish, clean and comprehensive. The round table discussion with topic breaks, interjections and backtracking makes it feel so natural. The sound design is also super satisfying, the clicks and music have such a neat aesthetic. Absolute props to the team for this.
first thing that I think will happen is Ace accusing Nico and derailing the trial a bit, but I think that will end up revealing several secrets in the process then I think Teruko might go after David. David looks like he's being set up to snap and lose his position as a sort of leader, and depending on what his secret is either it being revealed against his will or revealed at all will cause that. again, I think some more secrets will be matched up during this lastly whatever the big twist is will be revealed (Arei and J swap theory? maybe? 👀) and everything will start to fall into place, standard trial ending stuff
I've been thinking about the J and Arei swap theory for a while and for the past week or so I've kinda dismissed the thought because I believed that while it would be possible to mirror physical appearances, it would be damn well impossible to match voices. And it wasn't like we saw either of them being good at character impressions or voice acting, so I thought it was highly unlikely. But then I realised something. Charles and Whit had that scene of the 2 of them talking about machine learning randomly this chapter. Considering that it would be quite difficult to remember details from previous chapters, I assume that the chapters will mostly be self-contained, and so that machine learning factoid has to appear somewhere in this trial but where? Then, I realised. Current AI voice programs are built on machine learning. As long as there's a large enough sample size of voicelines to extrapolate and standardise soundwaves from, you could theoretically mimic someone else's voice. While current AI voice programs aren't perfect at voice mimicking, not only is this a fictional world, it might also be slightly in the future (I believe in the Min flashback post-Ch1, it mentions the year 20XX), where voice altering technology could have gotten better and more compact. I believe that our current "J" might have herself an advanced voice-altering module hidden within her hoodie (we've seen before that clothing may be used as evidence, with Min Jeung and her inverted jacket in the first trial), allowing for this swap theory to exist in the first place.
@@placeholder6974 And we know there are wigs on the same floor. I'm not too convinced about the Arei/J switch theory, but I 100% think that someone maybe used the clothes and wigs for something. Maybe someone went to meet Arei disguised as someone else to make her drop her guard? Because if she asked the person her secret was about to meet her, then I'd expect her to be very on-guard since they would be a murderer with no regrets. Unless is someone Arei trusted, like (maybe) David? But everyone is so different to eachother, so idk.
I have never ever been so upset to be left on a cliffhanger. AAAAAA I’m going to check on those motive secrets again now, I still need to re-read them all-
I don’t want anyone to die :( Not even Arturo because he hasn’t gotten his development yet. Also I hope David or Nico snaps in the trial (most likely David) because yeah, nice characters snapping is just amazing and satisfying.
Personally I think Nico is the one who’s going to be freaking out in this trial maybe it’s just me but I kinda don’t believe the “im non-binary” Secret because not only did it kind of come off as desperate to deflect suspicion off of him but also because his motive is “nobody appreciates his identity” makes me believe that there’s actually a different identity that he’s hiding and since being non-binary kind of is familiar to his motive if you put it in context people would buy it but I think his real identity is him being either bipolar or psychotic and we might find that out in this trial.
Reminder since apparently people need it Nico goes by they/them as of Episode 6 !! I've seen multiple people use he/him for them in the comments of this episode and the last two, so just reminding y'all
I took a little peek at the note in the scene last episode where they are examining the bin’s contents. Such words visible on the scraps include ‘at 7:30’ ‘in playground’ ‘Sor’ (that could be the word sorry. Note that it was underlined and appeared to be the note’s title) ‘*something i couldnt make out* that it’ ‘responsib’ ‘I’m scared I’ ‘to me’ ‘please meet up’ ‘friend’ ‘Than ever’ and something ending in ‘id’ that has a letter before it that looks suspiciously like a v. That could be David’s name. Also note that while neatly written, it was not quite cursive, and thus was not written by Charles. Also it was obviously not written by Teruko either.
I have seen someone mention that they could see "missing their sister" so it could relate to the secret Eden got on the dead sister. This would leave only the boys and Im guessing Arturo. Xander is dead and can't write, Levi is most likely not involved in this, David has to has to have that manipulator motive, and Whit seems unliekly
Wow, what a cliffhanger! I can’t wait another week, i’m so impatient 😭 Also, some of my theories about the secrets were wrong, which is a shame. But I was spot on about Whit’s, at least. And I do believe David is lying again, there’s no way he didn’t get Teruko’s secret
How is Veronika simultaneously my favorite character, but extremely annoying because she omits information, especially if it's important. She's probably been keeping track of everyone's secrets and knows all of them but just won't say it. She doesn't even have one of the more important secrets but it would be helpful 😭😭😭
I personally think it is Levi. He received Arei's secret, and if I am correct, his secret might be the one Eden received that says "Your sister killed herself because of you, you should have never left home". This struck me as interesting because in episode 1 of this chapter, Levi mentioned about how he was disowned by his family and particularly laments that "My father, my mother, my brothers,...we're bad influences on each other." I believe that he had left out that he had a sister but she had already passed on, and I believe she may have relied on him a lot when they were younger, leading to him feeling quite attached to the group and wanting to serve them. Also, as a minor piece of evidence, look at how his eyes soften after hearing Eden compliment his reliability in that episode. I believe he sees his sister in her, which makes it all the more tragic that Eden was the one who received his secret (based on my theory). Physically, he is relatively strong and could have easily carried Arei's body if need be in his murder scheme. Additionally, in the trash can, we saw that the jugs of water had their handles broken. Now, judging by the CG, it doesn't appear to have been made my a knife or other sharp tool because it didn't look like a clean cut, so my guess is that the killer personally ripped it out, which would have required a lot of strength, suggesting Levi once again. We have also seen that he can be assertive (like when he confronted Ace) so I think he would have the confidence to carry through with defending himself in the later parts of the trial. Now, for a motive, remember he received Arei's secret. Following my theory, he would have the worst impression of her, since her secret revolves around her ruining her sisters' lives, which might have brought up some trauma of his own and survivor's guilt and whatnot. So, I believe that he may have gone to confront Arei about her secret and try to hear her out. Seeing as he was quite a helpful, non-irritating, seemingly well-meaning guy, Arei could have easily trusted him and rendezvoused with him at a set time. When he asked her about her secret, maybe she could have been very avoidant with her responses and he just killed her out of pure rage. A supporting piece of evidence that this was the motive is the torn-up note in the trash. Though it hasn't been revealed yet (and has been suspiciously hidden by Eden which I'll get back to later), you can make out it mentioning about a sister (this note was presumably left by the killer since it's torn up). This would most relate to either Arei's secret or the person whose secret Eden received, which I have mentioned to be Levi if I'm correct. ALTERNATIVELY and more interestingly, if we combine this with the theory that J and Arei switched places, what if she didn't respond because she wasn't Arei but J. Maybe he could have thought Arei said something along the lines of "I have no idea what you're talking about. You have to listen to me. I'm not actually-" and then strangled "Arei" before "she" got to finish. Then afterwards, he might have realised that the person he killed wasn't Arei but J, which would lead to a very tragic ending trial monologue. In this first trial episode of Chapter 2, we've seen J acting sorta out of character, calling out Nico for their amorality in trying to kill Ace. Normally, J's the kind to lay low and not make that big of a fuss unless she's actively being mistreated like being harassed by Arturo for instance. But you know who is more outspoken and blunt with their comments though? Arei. If we commit to the logical extreme of Arei and J still having swapped and J actually ending up being the victim (which ties into the title card showing J and not Arei in it), then I believe that "J"'s more outspoken nature in this episode could be explained. And then, at some point in the future, if this theory is true, we'll see J reveal herself to be Arei, having modified her voice using some voice program to sound like J or something (maybe using machine learning which would tie into the scene earlier this chapter with Whit and Charles). 1 thing I found quite interesting was that Levi was in the movie screening room or whatever where the motives were being revealed during the investigation. Was he trying to get additional intel to potentially frame other people in the trial? If so, I'm wondering if he might divert the attention away by bringing up the idea of a copycat crime being committed by the person whose secret was having made 3 su*cide attempts, given the nature of Arei's hanging body. ALSO, just before Teruko, Whit and Eden discovered Arei's body in the playground, Eden was hesitant and even said "Wait!" or something like that to Teruko before she entered. As we've seen in this episode, Eden is even more sus, hiding the person whose secret she is hiding, and even hiding the note (presumably) left behind by the killer in the trash. But why would this be the case? I think it would be very interesting if Levi, after having committed his crime, felt so guilty about it that he actually fully confessed to Eden about it, the person who, in my mind, he would view as most trusting given her nice and helpful demeanor, which he even commented on in Chapter 1 ("How can you be so kind" or alike), and also how she reminds him of his presumed sister. I think it would be interesting therefore if unlike last trial where Teruko had to stop everyone from voting for her by leading the conversation correctly, this trial will see her steering the conversation but accusing the WRONG person, only to be saved when Eden confesses that she knows Levi did it and Teruko would be like "Why would you cover-up for someone you've just met in a killing game? And Levi, why did you trust someone else with such a big secret?" and then she'll learn the power of friendship! Or maybe that sort of character development might come a few chapters down the road who knows? Also, this is unrelated, but I've seeing a lot of theories on David being evil or the blackened but because I like him, I wanna argue against it. While the talent of motivational speaker is the perfect cover-up for manipulation tactics, I think that David's actions throughout so far have been quite consistent in trying to better the group. The way he loses his temper when others are fighting and especially his feelings towards Xander's death doesn't seem to be disingenuine to me. In fact, I kinda want to believe that his secret instead of being 1 of the more sinister ones like the murderer one (Kind of a toss up between Veronika, who may have done it out of sheer curiosity about what it feels like to be a murderer, or Arturo, who just has that aura of crazy killer surgeon in him, but I think it would be more interesting to see him be the one harming himself for fun, possibly explaining his mask - to cover up self-inflicted scars, and links to his talent, surgery even cosmetic surgery, is a very big risky and possibly dangerous field, which could satiate desires to harm) or the manipulation one (which after seeing a few convincing theories from other commenters I believe to be Hu) or the mastermind one (Teruko is the most obvious one here since she doesn't explicit know which one is hers, but it would be interesting if it's not hers actually), is actually the one about the 3 su*cide attempts. I feel like it would be the perfect commentary of how people with depression (which David has already claimed to have a family history of) tend to put on this front of exaggerated happiness and helpfulness to cover up their emptiness inside, and being a motivational speaker was helping him reaffirm himself that he was worth something and wasn't useless. I think seeing how he impacts others might have genuinely saved his life, and would really strike a chord with many people watching. He also has what I perceive as the widest range of sprites for negative emotions like apathy, despair, annoyance and sadness that are common for people with depression. Additionally, he genuinely blushes whenever someone shows affection for him, like when Xander compliments him in admiration and when Arei hugged him a few episodes back. It seems like these little moments of his classmates showing him that he matters and has helped them helps his morale quite a bit. I know that Teruko had that really sus throwaway line about failed hangings really hurting but I really wanna believe that my boy David is pure and trying to help others as best as he can. Also, I find it interesting that he didn't confront the person whose secret he received publicly. With the kind of group influence he has, it would have been very easy to gather everyone and single out the person who supposedly is the cause of this killing game, but he didn't. I don't know if that's because he confronted them privately or he doesn't want to out them as a traitor but it's an interesting point regardless. And even in the trial, he's obviously lying about having had Xander's secret, as pointed out by many other commenters.
Hey, this might be dumb, but in the chapter 2 preview's description(the one they deleted after)... the voice actors credits.. the order was Teruko Levi Arei Min Xander Eden Hu Veronika J Rose Charles David Ace Whit Nico Arturo Xander, min, arei is the death order so far with Levi on top.. Exclude teruko btw Isn't it interesting?
I don’t know what, but it seems to me that David will be somehow connected with this and in this court he simply will not stand it and will reveal his secret
ALSO I KNEW the "body falling apart" secret was Ace's. He's the second lightest on the cast and he refused to eat the cake during chapter 1, and also what Veronika said about jockeys is very true. Also, minor thing but I'm so happy he respects Nico's pronouns. Even if Nico tried to kill him, it doesn't mean he will misgender them!!...... He's more considerate than I thought, and he's my fav character lmao.
@@flakeysnow3021 I honestly think it's pretty funny. He may be an asshole, a bully, someone who constantly insults and threatens people BUT he's still a trans ally. What a king
Spoilers ahead... I'm gonna predict that David's motive is either A. "You're a murderer and you hold no remorse", or B. "You exist to manipulate others." He's holding a lot back, especially judging by the last sprite he had in episode 8.
I think he either has the "manipulator" one or the "Hopeless Child" one. Can't imagine why Arei, supposedly knowing that he was a "remorseless murderer", would meet up with him in private to confront him and even hug him afterwards. I'm interested to see what direction his character goes in tho
Shout at Artubro again and I’m gonna feckin’ scuffle with you Teruko That was the most painful way to end the episode yet, ouch I was expecting Eden to just burn the note in front of everyone I was wrong about Arturo’s secret. His next most likely secret is either becoming a plastic surgeon to stop harming himself, tryna kill himself, or being a filthy murderer. Because my boy cannot do anything wrong, it is not that last one. I think that mystery note says something like ‘Oi Arei come up here so I can whoop you - Teruko’
i swear when Arturo was like “she killed herself end of story” i was like “ARTURO ISTG IF YOU’RE THE MURDERER ILL KILL YOU” Also you're so real arturo cannot be the murderer one my only plausible explanation for arturo being the murderer is if he actually hated mariabella and murdered her or something. In which case I would stan him. Kill The Rich!! Slay King!!!
Spoilers So, I think the note blamed Teruko, but her recent handwriting appearance is going to be quick and easy proof that someone chose a bad target to blame for Arei’s death. That, or it says Arei wrote it.
SPOILERS!!! eden is acting very suspicious rn, she keeps insisting that arei wouldn't commit suicide and other stuff. I'm thinking she knows about the conversation that david and arei had with teruko there when she was talking about her past. she probably overheard the conversation or arei might've actually tried to apologize to her meaning she could have talked after lunch + she even told teruko to wait before we found the body
Spoilers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I have a theory that involves both Chapters 1 and 2. Remember those lines that appeared before the beggining of every chapter? Welp. If you don't remember, those are: Chapter 1: "Half-remembering is worse than forgetting." "Because of that, I lost something about the only two people I cared about." "Her name, his face, it's just bearly out of reach. I claw and grasp through the dusty haze of my memories." "Choking on my nostalgia, I keep begging for you to come back." It's very obvious that these lines are to refer to Min and Xander, after both of them died. The part where it mentions "Her name, HIS FACE, it's just bearly out of reach. I claw and grasp through the dusty haze of my memories.", we have to remember what happened on Chapter 1 Episode 6, when Teruko thought that Xander always reminded her of that girl because of his red hair and smile. There's no doubt that those lines that appear at the beginning of the chapter are Teruko's thoughts after each Class Trial. Well. Now with Chapter 2: "I still miss you." "I miss you so much that I wish you had never been a part of my life." "The worst part is, even though you left me like this, there's nothing I can blame you for." I don't think that Teruko is refering to Arei. I believe that it is for Arei's killer. There's a big possibility that Teruko will cry inside after the Killer's execution.
Why would Teruko have trouble remembering Xander and Min and “grasp through the dusty haze of her memories”? I think those lines were referring to people from her past, most likely Mai Akasaki (the red-haired girl) and probably her brother who was taken away.
I wonder if Chapter 2 might mean...oh right speculating potential spoilers Eden's the killer, someone mentioned how she's acting strange so that would throw a wrench to people believing it's david who's the killer(although he could be a witness too)
I disagree. I believe these quotes don't come from Teruko. Rather, they come from the girl you mentioned with red hair. Her name is Mai. She can be found in the Danganronpa tumblr page if you do a lil digging. You can find her full name by inspecting the element of the big piece of text in MonoTV's character page. I believe that, in the bonus episodes, the other person that's with the character is her.
Watch first, read later: . . . . I suspect David lied about Xander's secret. Picking a dead person who can't say "no" to that feels like a smart thing to do.
Yeah, for sure. He asked to reveal his secret last so he could pick someone who wasn't picked by anyone. And as the audience, we already know that Min has Xander's secret.
@@sero9673I think it's likely, but not confirmed. Min isn't the only one who could have joined competitions. Still, I also guess that it's her secret. I didn't think hers would be so dark, especially since she didn't seem like a bad person when she was alive.
Spoiler warning : _ I think David lied. The real secret of Xander is : "You're constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings. It doesn't matter if it's not your fault that you didn't go with them". We learned it in the bonus about him, "Visiting graves".
@@LinusTsuki Probably so it’s harder to narrow down what his own secret is, especially since Xander isn’t alive to defend himself. Or, i’m positive he has Teruko’s secret, so if he doesn’t have sinister intentions, it could have something to do with protecting her. But i’m not sure why that would be the case
I kind of feel like that's actually teruko's / or his own secret now and that he asked to go at the end to make sure nobody else claimed to have Xanders secret.
Oh! I want to guess the cliffhanger, my guess is that the torn up note is Arei's "This person is a murderer", and it's Teruko's secret. So they'll probably do another "You're the killer Teruko" based on that, and have a scrum debate to point that it's unrelated to the trial, since she triggered the BDA as evidence. My theory is that she may have been a blackend that won a previous killing game, because of that first clip in the first episode of someone bloodied saying "Kill Teruko", but she doesn't remember it because memory wipe plot. Only speculation tho
David, you damn liar- “May I go last (so that I can blame one of the dead people that weren’t namedropped already)?” I’m very curious why Eden’s so reluctant to hand over the note. I actually don’t have a clue what it could be, but my gut is saying that it’s not anything relevant to the trial… as of right now. I don’t think it’s something like a threat, but maybe some sort of friendly letter that will later on be helpful to slim down the time of death even more? Just kinda throwing that idea out there. I’m surprised at how many motives I got wrong LMAO For now, I think everyone is telling the truth so far (besides David of course).
Also, I didn’t expect Nico to actually be Ace’s attempted killer. Half tempted to delude myself and say that he’s lying due to being threatened or manipulated but sadly I doubt it 😞
So, thanks to this episode we know these secrets: Rose - Family debt Arei - Ruin sisters lifes Nico - Mocked for being Nonbinary Ace- Refuses to eat Eden - Afraid sexuality would ruin friendships Whit - Dead mother Charles - Dead brother J - Mariabella rosales daughter Xander - Killing game is his fault (David could've lied though) Predictions Levi - Sister died Veronika - Self harm David - Murderer If David is lying then his secret is Teruko's, Xander's would be the blaming himself for family death Im not sure about the rest
spoilers of which secret i think belongs to hu jing and a theory about her... "You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exists to be taken advantage of" Hu is like the trusted mother figure of the group and often breaks up fights and stuff... which makes others trust her which makes easy targets to get taken advantage of by her.. i think that she manipulated nico into trying to kill ace as nico is weak and probably easily influenced and hu's weapon (wire) was found at the scene where nico tried killing ace. i dont think that she is the killer of arei though but i think she is going to try and get someone killed or kill them in chapter 3 or 4 or whatever and it will be revealed that she was an accomplice in ace's almost death. maybe she will try to kill nico to keep him silenced or if her secret is revealed in this trial she could have character development
I can't wait to see what will happen, even if I am scared for what will happen next, especially as we likely will learn who has whose secret. I am quite confident someone (or many people) will snap (or at least be uncharacteristically/greatly irritated or do something that seems to be O.O.C) during the trail, so here is some predictions on how likely someone will snap and why! + a theory about that one moment from episode 6: (Also, spoiler warning for those who haven't caught up): . . . . . . . . . . . Teruko: While it wouldn't be as grand as last trail, I feel like Teruko will definitely have a moment where she is irritated, likely due to someone coming to an illogical conclusion and is stubbornly refuse to change their mind... or she will call David out for his BS. Charles: While he may not snap, he may be greatly irritated at someone's lack of understanding of chemistry. This may happen due to the cloth-ball. Ace: Ace is Ace, so he will likely snap and/or cause someone to snap. Rose: Tbh, I can't see what could cause Rose to be irritated, yet alone snap. Hu: Hu is quite protective of Nico, so she may snap at someone accusing them. Eden: If last trail was anything to go by, she may snap if Ace pushes her far enough. Levi: We know that he can snap, but I feel like he won't this time (or at least not directed at Ace, hopefully) Arturo: Like Hu, he may snap at someone accusing J. David: He will snap as his positive facade is certainly wavering. He will most likely snap at someone pushing him about his secret Veronika: Episode 7 makes me believe Veronika is hiding something, likely not her secret. I wouldn't be too surprise if like Whit, she has another side to her that is more serious and she may show this side if pushed. J: She may completely lose it with Arturo as she is definitely sick with Arturo's behavior and lack of taking a hint. Whit: I can see Whit snapping, or being greatly irritated, at someone making light of someone's secret, especially the ones that show they implies they have poor mental health. Nico: As someone who believe they didn't try to kill Ace (they should have been covered in blood if they actually did try to kill him, and they weren't), they may snap at those who are still accusing them of that. I also do believe Teruko, Eden or Nico will call out Levi for claiming to be a witness to the so-called attempted murder (as he only saw the aftermath) In relation to my point of Nico snapping, I believe Arei tried to kill Ace via hanging and unknowingly framed Nico (as she wasn't there when Nico gave Ace a death threat). From the previous trail, we know she is good at stealing things, so she could have stolen Rose's turpentine and stole the grippy-tape as a plan B if Ace somehow survived. She would then used it to knock Ace out, hang him up and leave him to die. The reason she knocked Ace out was to make sure he didn't fight back (as adrenaline can give people a physically boost), however this led to Ace, who would certainly not be trusting Nico due to his distrust and fear, to believe Nico was the one who tried to kill him. She followed Eden till she was certain she could escape unseen. Nico walked in to the gym afterwards, knocked Ace down and tried to remove the wire, which was when Teruko and Eden walked in. Nico realised that they looked like they killed Ace and ran away in a panic. The reason I believe this is since Arei was silent when Ace was saying Hu was defending a murderer (Nico), which makes me believe Arei learnt that her actions caused a grave consequence and lots of distrust.
Spoilers Was I the only one who thought that Eden's secret was obviously her? The entire way that she treats Teruko feels like she has blatant feelings for her.
even tho whit is covered by the bda seemingly ... i have to suspect what if he swapped out the contents of the secret not expecting charles to give it to teruko not even looking inside could have revealed that ruse unless teruko checks during the trial or even could have made a fake suicide note as i's dotted with hearts could be a big hint towards that
Spoilers! Huh, there go a lot of my theories. I'm surprised Nico actually DID try to kill Ace, I thought it'd be a "wrong place at the wrong time" kind of thing. On the bright side, I'm happy someone acknowledged that they fucked up, even if they regret doing it, because that was something that bothered me a few episodes ago. It felt like no one took that seriously enough. Thank you J. Also, that secret-sharing spotlight moment was really well done, it felt satisfying seeing more people's secrets being revealed as it passed from person to person. Also, Hu is definitely a suspect in my eyes. Initially it was because of the use of wire in the attempted murder, but even with that kinda debunked, there was something she said this trial that kept her suspicious in my eyes. "I'm sorry. I simply cannot. And I am hoping that I will be able to pass the trial without needing to share my secret. I doubt all the motives are relevant to the case anyways." It's not just the fact that she refused to share and that she tries to say that not all the motives are relevant, as if trying to move on with the conversation. It's her wording that throws me off a little, particularly "pass the trial". Not "move past", "get through" or "survive", *"pass"* the trial. To me, it sounds like she killed Arei, or was involved, and wants to "pass" the trial with her secret still kept safe. After all, no one's said her secret yet, and the only ones remaining are... pretty bad to say the least. Idk, it's mostly just speculation, but that particular sentence is super suspicious to me.
I'm sus of Hu as well. But the wire still throws me off a bit. Where did Nico actually get the wire from? Did Nico steal it from Hu? But in that case, she'd probably be upset at them. So did she just give them her wire voluntarily? Honestly, Hu's and Nicos relationship is incredibly weird to me. She keeps defending them over and over again but then there was this weird moment in the trial where she suddenly interrupted Nico for no reason. She's usually pretty polite and she likes Nico, so why would she just talk over him like that? Also, the fact that she interrupted him to say that the water must've been from the relaxion room, which is a huge piece of evidence to narrow down the time of murder....I have a feeling that Hu killed Arei and that she manipulated Nico into helping her. She might've also done the same when Ace nearly got murdered. And maybe her secret is that she's a manipulator
@@snakesareamazing Yeah, I agree. Hu and Nico's sudden development and "bond" strikes me as odd. If she was the manipulator, it'd make a lot of sense. I don't remember any notable instance where she stood up for Nico until they said "I'll kill you" to Ace. She could've realized at that moment that, not only is Nico a socially awkward and weaker person, but also one pushed to the brink of wanting to murder, and stepped in to "bond" with them and take advantage of that, which is why she was the first to go after them when they left. What followed could've been her pushing Nico to try and kill Ace, even giving them her weapon, but when that plan backfired, she went after Arei herself, with Nico to assist her in some manner. Not to mention they had a bonding moment in the relaxation room, which is gonna be a key piece of evidence here. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Nico's secret quote is "Why should I own up for the mistakes that someone else made?" I'm think someone is forcing them to take the blame for all of Ace's attempted murder in some way. It's probably Hu.
Well she could still be saying that she wants to pass the trial as a spotless, but still she has been one of the most suspicious characters this chapter going back by a couple episodes. She’s my bet for who the killer might be or had at least some sort of involvement
Spoilers for Episode: Ok, I might be completely off the mark but I'm like 99.999% sure that David lied about recieving Xander's motive. I definitely believe that Xander has some ties to this death game, to Teruko and the mastermind and is certainly suspicious, but I highly doubt that the mastermind-ish motive is his. Rather, with back up from the Visiting Graves Minisode, I believe that the "you blame yourself for not being with your family when they died even tho it's not your fault'' motive. And if that's the case, why the heck would David lie? To protect someone else? Himself? To steer us into the wrong direction? He's been screaming red flags since the get-go and that's gotten worse this chapter, so whatever it is it's not gonna be pretty. Especially with that one extremely manipulative and sketchy motive that could very well belong to him. And while on Xander's potential motive, I feel like Min's motive could've been the one he was suposed to recieve. Her being groomed into the Ultimate Student from childhood and having to compete with other kids to reach her position, her motive being the one about poisoning someone to win due to competiveness not too far-fetched. Plus, Nico and Ace recieved each others motives. Who's to say it's not the same for them? Even Rose and Teruko could have their motives, since Teruko already has Rose's one and Rose never bothered to check her own (which would explain why no one reached out to her). Now, this reasoning isn't perfect by any means: Multiple people didn't recieve each others' motives (like Charles and J), but it's a start. I'm really curious about how this is all gonna end. If every secret ends up being revealed, then we can already kiss our chances of unity and understanding goodbye. With how shaddy and downright criminal some of these secrets are, there's no way the group can go back to being buddy-buddy. Tensions are gonna be the highest they've been since Xander's death, and I'm extremely excited to see it all go down. Edit: Also, for the sake of better wording, I don't think that the motive David recieved is necessarily from the mastermind or anything. I'm fairly sure that motive is Teruko's and relates to the tragidies her luck causes in her life. How that's connected to the Killing Game? Not sure, but she definitely is intimately bound to what is happening in a similar way Xander is (if not even MORE so). And as of me writing this, that ''you only exist to manipulate others'' could actually also apply to Hu and David's just a red herring. I'm not sure, but I think it definitely belongs to one of them considering they're the most outwardly leader-like people and reliable (also they're pretty involved in this chapter as well). And no, I'm not suspecting Eden cuz she is an absolute ball of sunshine that has done nothing wrong in her entire life.
Yeah I think Min probably poisoned her fellow test takers in the final exam needed to enrol into Hope's Peak as the Ultimate Student. After all, her entire family and future was dependent on her making it in.
Spoilers… There’s gotta be more to the whole Nico and Ace attempted murder thing. There was a lot of details overlooked (ceiling fan, the wire, etc.) and I feel like there has to be something else going on there. I’m still holding on to the Nico saving Ace theory, but maybe Nico was also considering letting him die which is why they still feel guilty. Also, Hu is a little sus and could be connected to it in some way.
Spoilers the fact that monotv doesn't know (or can't tell the cast) about what exactly makes a person a blackened makes me think this will be exploited in a later trial. it's so fascinating that monotv seems to know so little about what's going on lol
It adds on even more because iirc, MonoTV did say they didn't even know who their boss was, or something along those lines? Maybe they feed them vague information on purpose just to cause them more despair and conflict in the trials when they're focused on a "true" blackened in the future, since they'll just be gambling someone's life again there
ive seen someone say that because david is being so suspicious and out of character is because he was the one who got the motive for the person fault for the killing game so that's probably why he's acting like that
It just occurred to me. Unless things change in the upcoming parts, this trial is going to have some major fallout regarding Teruko. Between refusal to share important information, attempted murder, (potentially) lying about information, shifting the topic away from an important clue and refusal to hand over said important clue, I feel like if she felt she couldn't trust anyone before after the first trial, this is going to make that feeling even stronger.
@@QqQ3Three3 True. But we also have to remember that Teruko is a very self-preservation focused person. Even if the others actions have good intentions, her focus on self-preservation may lead her to see it less as "they had good intentions" and more "they threw off the trial and risked us voting the wrong person".
If we say David totally lied, we have 8 people who we don't know their secret. I'd say: *Competition poisoning might be Min's. * Manipulation is very accurate for david. * Younger sister's death is probably Levi's. * Distraction is probably Veronica's. "Guilty about relative's death is probably Xander's true secret. *Arturo's might be the murderer secret. If we say that the killing game is Teruko's fault, then the one who tried to unsubscribe to life in three attempts is Hu. Now, Min and Hu secrets might be inverted too, but I don't believe it. If Xander's real motive was the one David said, Teruko's is unlikely to be the dead relative's one because she was born in an orphanage.
Eden's surprised me too, but Xander's is a lie by David. I think David is the manipulator. His secret he revealed about depression was a lie too. The bonus episode of Xander revealed, his family died, while he was studying far from home. The mastermind could be the person which secret David got.
@@wangben7259 I mean yeah I agree. It's amazing that with every episode David is becoming more and more sus. Not in a sense that he's a killer but in a sense that he's lying whenever he can. At this point it would be plot twist of a century if he really is a good guy who wants to help people.
@@adamturek210 David reminds me of Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, the mc of 'classroom of the elite'. He helps suffering people to bring them under his control. David helped Arei so he can profit by her later. But Arei died. I don't think David is the murderer but he can become an antagonist. Veronika has that potential too with her crazy style.
my predictions are going to be either levi, J, arturo or david. although ill admit david seems a bit too obvious, so i think he may have manipulated someone into killing arei. this might also fit with his secret which i believe to be "you exist to manipulate others" or maybe the "hopeless child" one. levi and arturo are suspects because theyre the two i actually suspect to have the "murderer" secret. levi due to his backstory, and how he is prone to violence. as well as his secret quote which is "i always thought a person was defined by their actions, but maybe thats just an excuse for my heartlessness" which may refer to the "no remorse" part. although i dont know if theyd kill him off before him and ace make up, considering they seem to be a prominent pairing. arturo is because uh..idk hes just sus to me. finally, J. i think the theory of her pretending to be arei has some backing to it, considering teruko has been stated to not be able to tell facial features apart. not to mention veronika picking her apart about that, it just seems weirdly coincidental that arei just so happened to be hiding her face last episode. also, i believe that if david did manipulate someone into comitting the murder, it was probably J
Spoilers. I don't think any massive progress has been made yet, but then again this trial just started, so that doesn't mean much. That being said, none of the secrets that were revealed surprise me, most of these were able to be made with the background knowledge on their talents or other ideas. You're down to 7, some of which seem interesting. The structure of the trial itself is a good ground starter, but I am hoping it doesn't drag topics on for too long. The accomplice idea is neat, and I hope that does lead somewhere because it seems like it may flesh out Arei a little more even after death. We'll see what happens next time, but I'm still pinning this on Hu at the moment for both in logical reasons and personal preference. See you all next time, trial likely will start picking up in pace soon.
SPOILERS!! Here is all the evidence we have: - Failed Murder - Arei's Wrists - Rope For H*nging - Carousel Taped - Rope Under Carousel - Shattered Lights - Ball of Old Clothes - Playground Flooring Marks - Fishes in Playground - Torn Note - Motives Possible evidence: - Motive Given by Charles - Others' Behaviours - Julia Rosales and Hu's Nickname Similarities - Gym Layout
- Playground room connects to the movie theatre - mat dries quickly - someone stole turpentine from Rose (Nico didn't deny that they did, but they didn't confirm it either)
So this is what I had surmised, from trying to put the controversial note. I could be wrong, and it's totally a shot in the dark. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. And I found out your secret, I'm scared I need aid. That wouldn't be the case but it is still my responsibility as a friend to me of course. I need to meet you in the playground at 7:30. I want to d(ie) always than ever." The "d(ie)" part was on the plastic jug. Being hidden from view, but I summed up two and two together. Eden, Whit, and Rose hid this note since it should be Arei who wrote this, and most likely how Rose absentmindedly had funny ideas of an "assisted suicide".
I don't have any sort of conclusions for this one, just yet! So you're all literally free to speak out and to hand over your own speculations based on the key words I put two and two together. All I can ever think of, is how people seemed to accuse Arei to have "done a Kizuna"? But it is the complete opposite, where Arei wanted to "change" as what her and Eden must have conversed about in their last talk with each other. Arei might have really believed this certain person's secret as a *"murderer with no remorse"* so they actually baited them to meet her and wanting to kill them... In order to change herself for the better, trying to protect everyone all by herself. Only for her to be killed, rather tragically and quite expectedly anyways due to how this person is a remorseful killer. It makes perf sense??? Most especially since she might have been the one to know where her own rope has been, wanting to use it to perform the kill of justice. 💔😭
@@KadenzJade6447 I mean she Barely got her redemption arc and they killed her off I was kinda hoping for this theorie to be true but By now there is a low chance it will happenx.x
Arei said people used to send her ropes to make fun of her and tell her to hang herself, I think the reason she is hung up like that is because her killer is someone who heard her say that.
DRDT SECRET THEORY I thought it was kinda strange that Whit waits a while before confirming that Rose's secret is his and that his 'mother is dead.' Him saying "I just realised which one is mine" seems a little strange because of course most people would know which secret is theirs immediately, and it seemed like an inane detail to add in (chekov's gun and all that) so I went back and watched the sequence again and noticed something interesting. Whit only does this AFTER Hu says that she won't share who her secret belongs to, which just so happens to be the secret about S-Hing for fun. I think Whit might be lying about his secret to save face, and if that's the case then there must be a lot more lying about secrets going on than we thought. But that's just a theory of course
The Anticipation Is Killing Me! I Simply Cannot Wait To See How This Trial Unfolds, And What, (Presumably) Gruesome-Execution That’ll Accompany-It! ^^.
24:25 Why, whyy does it to have to be Arturo who says this illogical line? How can the ultimate surgeon be so stupid and inattentive? It’s already the SECOND time he misses an important detail regarding the corpse. The red marks on Arei’s wrists were clearly visible even from a distance. Arturo is either the killer and deliberately ignored them, or a complete idiot.
@@loganberries Plastic surgeons are still surgeons, they’re legitimate medical professionals. How come an ordinary person like Teruko noticed the red marks but a trained doctor didn’t?
A few things about the motives I’ve noticed: First, MonoTV said that the billboard was based on what everyone AGREED on, not whether it was actually right. So there’s a good chance someone might be lying about their secret still. For example, Whit seemed to jump onto Rose’s secret that she never looked at. Or alternatively, David could be lying about the owner is the secret he has. Both individuals have acted suspiciously enough to warrant some doubt, in my mind. Still, if we assume that the “you’re the reason the killing game exists” secret really is Xander’s, then I’m convinced that Teruko’s motive is either “blaming herself for her family’s death” or “trying to die three times.” Both seem to fit with what we know of her past so far. The motive Eden got is likely Levi’s, and I assume she refuses to tell because of the conversation she had with him at the start of the chapter. The motive Xander would’ve gotten probably is Min’s. Hers is the only talent I can see that involves “competition,” for example SATs or the like. Veronika’s motive could be the self-harm one. I can genuinely imagine her obsession with horror movies being an outlet onto other people rather than herself. Finally, whoever Arei’s secret refers to is likely the killer. They silenced her to keep their secret hidden, though there’s a possibility that she went out of her way to confront them about it herself, considering the clothes piled into a ball. Arei is the only person with a ball-centric talent, so that evidence indicates some action on her part.
Holly shit I was reading comments from investigation episode and nobody had explanation of what's up with a ball of clothes but if Arei wanted to use it to kill someone congrats to you.
Also I laughed when they were revealing motives and when it was Arei, Min or Xander's time the text just said silence xD Dark humor is funny when used properly.

THE WHOLE CLASS FLAMING TERUKO'S HANDWRITING WAS HILARIOUS.
Makes me think Teruko never went to school because of her bad luck. she never learned to properly write.
Her handwriting is worse than my boyfriend’s, and that’s saying something!
If that IS her real handwriting then it might clear her from being the one who wrote the note.

David definitely lied about who's his secret was 💀💀💀💀💀. The "you blame yourself for your family's dead" has to be Xander
Plus I bet my left hand he waited until everyone else went so he knew no one said Xander's name so he could use it.
Exactly
I bet few more episode Teruko would ask MonoTV about Min and Xander received someone else secret which I think likely to happen. Who knows? 😎
Perhaps he, for whatever reason, trusts Teruko, or realizes that she's too useful in the trial and if he exposed her secret everyone would doubt her too much

Giving big props to J. She was the true G of this episode especially calling out both Ace and Nico for what they did. It *was* a little annoying (and kinda sus...) that Hu keeps defending Nico when he very clearly tried to kill Ace but J was quick to remind Hu of that as well.
Yeah she was really mature and down to earth with that one THAT'S WHAT WE LIKE TO SEE 👏👏👏

I wonder why Nico immediately resorted to murder, considering that they had Aces secret
@@snakesareamazing To be fair, Ace DOES bring the worst out of people. Even Levi looked like he was going to kill him for a sec in the previous trial.
@@snakesareamazing I'm.. actually forming a theory about it. I think Nico was manipulated. Like someone got in their head and convinced them that it would be best to kill Ace. Maybe I'm over thinking and the answer is simply "Nico is a lot more messed up than we thought" but I'm hesitant to think that
And I think this person was Hu.

@@ix_reii OH MY GOD YES
I honestly loved J this episode...Unlike Hu, she didn't take sides with Nico and rightfully berated both them and Ace... She's better at resolving problems than Hu ever could be...She was so real for that!!
It's strange that Hu is so focused on protecting the murderers (Min and Nico) and not the victims like Teruko and Ace (Of course this was his fault but there were other ways to solve it)
Yeah, Hu definitely picked a favorite. And it’s not Ace
My theory: the murder did actually occur at night. The killer took water from the relaxation room beforehand, and stored it in jugs (we saw them in the trash can) to use it later. That's how they were going to trick everyone the murder happened before nighttime, and acquire an alibi
That makes sense. I was thinking about the fish being red herrings, but I had forgotten about the jugs.
I don't remember how the jugs were, but could they also carry the fishes inside? I was imagining them kinda big, like koi fish, but maybe I was just wrong because obviously they need to carry the water somehow from room to room.
@@ItsJustValHere minnows are very small, and those jugs have a quite wide bottleneck
but also, werent the handles like, removed from them?
Okay but can we appreciate the extremely easy hangman's gambit this trial? Teruko's playing with the action difficulty on Easy.
Calling it right now that the first thing that happens is Ace accusing Nico of killing Arei since in Ace's eyes, Nico attempted to kill him.
well we always must begin somewhere in a class trial
Close enough
Semi correct
Also Nico DID try to kill him
Pretrial thoughts:
I can’t wait to see how Charles will contribute to the trial.
David knows who’s at fault for the killing game
If you look at the secrets board it shows who got what secret, David got the one stating whos at fault for the killing game
This may be why he’s acting so out of character. Observing his character he can barley keep eye contact throughout the chapter and is now snapping, last chapter when someone died he snapped and would apologize but now he’s not apologizing at all, you can tell he’s at his breaking point and an inconvenience away from loosing his shit
He will 100% be the main suspect this trial but I don’t think he’s the culprit, it’s way to obvious
This means that the mastermind is probably not Hu, at least.
I don't believe that the secret is actually talking about the mastermind, but David might think that way. It's most likely Terukos secret
It’s not a secret about the mm, it’s about who’s fault it is, and also since Teruko was talking about having so many secrets before, it lines up
@@derpyman3716 Mhm! As well as the "I have to kill teruko tawaki" chapter opening and Xander's motive.
I think david is mastermind
Second part of what I posted prior since yt won't let me post it together!
I'll explain (Briefly) why I think each pairing is a foil below and give my thoughts on potential meanings behind these foil relationships and how they could affect the story going forward.
Xander-Min
Student & Rebel, good girl and bad boy, conforming to rigid societal expectations for your own survival & revolting against the very core of a society itself in order to achieve some greater change. These two are the most straight forward and the implications of these characters being foils is obvious given that we've already seen the conclusion of chapter 1.
Teruko-Charles
Harder to pin in exact words!
Eden-Arei
This one is pretty obvious!
Nico-Ace
These two have come into direct conflict a lot this chapter but I'm not sure I have a super deep understanding of either character.
Hu-Veronika
Really interesting one!
Rose-J
Another slightly odd pairing since they've seemingly rarely interacted, but they actually thematically parallel each other quite a bit. Rose is a disparaged artist who doesn't even know how to make something original anymore while J is an active visual effects artist who is passionate about her craft (Which we haven't seen a lot of, but she seems to hate the people she's around in the field not the craft itself, so I assume she has a passion for it.)
Rose is trapped in her talent in order to protect her family while J's talent is her way of running away from a family which is abusive towards her. Also J's surname is Rosales while Rose is named Rose, a type of Rosales. Minor but still a neat detail.
Arturo-Levi
Really weird one! (Esp in junction with the secrets we were given this chapter.)
On a superficial level, Levi's talent is one where he sees the beauty within someone and brings it out using their style whereas Arturo's talent (And whole character) is about enhancing what he considers 'natural beauty', something he considers an intrisic trait one cannot change. He considers anyone who is 'ugly' beneath him and worships those he would call beautiful as if they were gods. In this aspect, they're obviously pretty diametrically opposed.
Whit-David
This one seems pretty obvious to me!
Big brain!
I mean, the only way no one would've noticed the person in question wasn't eating is if they caused some big distraction at every meal."
But guess who's been causing a big distraction at almost every single meal?
OMG YOU EXPLAINED THAT PERFECTLY!!

…holy shit
Yup, I agree. I also think this is the case, as I'm one of the people who pointed out that this is his secret. But you totally nailed the explanation. Well done!
Another two things that I may add to this are that Jockeys have a special diet that makes them as light as possible, so it could influence their anorexia. Second is the arm wrestling competition from chapter 1. Ace was totally crushed by Xander. Now, Xander may be strong physically, with being a rebel and all, but there's no reason Ace would be beaten that badly. Unless due to eating so little, there's barely any physical strength in him.

The most beautiful thing I've seen in this vid is everyone making fun of teruko's handwriting
first thing that I think will happen is Ace accusing Nico and derailing the trial a bit, but I think that will end up revealing several secrets in the process
then I think Teruko might go after David. David looks like he's being set up to snap and lose his position as a sort of leader, and depending on what his secret is either it being revealed against his will or revealed at all will cause that. again, I think some more secrets will be matched up during this
lastly whatever the big twist is will be revealed (Arei and J swap theory?
I think J's been acting... a bit different/more colorful ever since episode 6, but I could very well just be over analyzing her actions.

@@jjrolay9960 Interesting theory
@@jjrolay9960 Hmm, while it is possible, I don't know how I would feel about a character lying about being trans. Just kinda rubs me the wrong way

Reminder since apparently people need it
Nico goes by they/them as of Episode 6 !! I've seen multiple people use he/him for them in the comments of this episode and the last two, so just reminding y'all
Even Ace, who wants to kick Nico's ass, respects their pronouns
And with no hearts over the 'i's, it can't be Whit. We already kinda knew it wasn't his, though, since he didn't panic when he saw it.
I can’t wait another week, i’m so impatient 😭
Also, some of my theories about the secrets were wrong, which is a shame. But I was spot on about Whit’s, at least. And I do believe David is lying again, there’s no way he didn’t get Teruko’s secret
STOP TERUKO IS A DOCTOR THATS WHY HER HANDWRITING IS LIKE THAT FR
Hey, this might be dumb, but in the chapter 2 preview's description(the one they deleted after)... the voice actors credits.. the order was

I have a theory that involves both Chapters 1 and 2. Remember those lines that appeared before the beggining of every chapter? Welp. If you don't remember, those are:
Chapter 1:
"Half-remembering is worse than forgetting."
"Because of that, I lost something about the only two people I cared about."
"Her name, his face, it's just bearly out of reach. I claw and grasp through the dusty haze of my memories."
"Choking on my nostalgia, I keep begging for you to come back."
It's very obvious that these lines are to refer to Min and Xander, after both of them died.
Well. Now with Chapter 2:
"I still miss you."
"I miss you so much that I wish you had never been a part of my life."
"The worst part is, even though you left me like this, there's nothing I can blame you for."
I don't think that Teruko is refering to Arei.
I wonder if Chapter 2 might mean...oh right speculating potential spoilers
Eden's the killer, someone mentioned how she's acting strange so that would throw a wrench to people believing it's david who's the killer(although he could be a witness too)
I honestly assumed that the lines from chapter 2 are David's thoughts after losing Xander, David seemed pretty depressed after the first trial

I suspect David lied about Xander's secret. Picking a dead person who can't say "no" to that feels like a smart thing to do.

David, you damn liar-
“May I go last (so that I can blame one of the dead people that weren’t namedropped already)?”
I’m very curious why Eden’s so reluctant to hand over the note.
I’m surprised at how many motives I got wrong LMAO
For now, I think everyone is telling the truth so far (besides David of course).
Also, I didn’t expect Nico to actually be Ace’s attempted killer. Half tempted to delude myself and say that he’s lying due to being threatened or manipulated but sadly I doubt it 😞

Nico - Mocked for being Nonbinary
Ace- Refuses to eat
Eden - Afraid sexuality would ruin friendships
Whit - Dead mother

J - Mariabella rosales daughter
Xander - Killing game is his fault (David could've lied though)

spoilers of which secret i think belongs to hu jing and a theory about her...
"You exist to manipulate others. Everyone else exists to be taken advantage of" Hu is like the trusted mother figure of the group and often breaks up fights and stuff... which makes others trust her which makes easy targets to get taken advantage of by her.. i think that she manipulated nico into trying to kill ace as nico is weak and probably easily influenced and hu's weapon (wire) was found at the scene where nico tried killing ace. i dont think that she is the killer of arei though but i think she is going to try and get someone killed or kill them in chapter 3 or 4 or whatever and it will be revealed that she was an accomplice in ace's almost death. maybe she will try to kill nico to keep him silenced or if her secret is revealed in this trial she could have character development
also, hu defended nico from ace and supported them when they came out which means that nico would trust her
I can't wait to see what will happen, even if I am scared for what will happen next, especially as we likely will learn who has whose secret. I am quite confident someone (or many people) will snap (or at least be uncharacteristically/greatly irritated or do something that seems to be O.O.C) during the trail, so here is some predictions on how likely someone will snap and why! + a theory about that one moment from episode 6:

Levi: We know that he can snap, but I feel like he won't this time (or at least not directed at Ace, hopefully)
Arturo: Like Hu, he may snap at someone accusing J.
David: He will snap as his positive facade is certainly wavering. He will most likely snap at someone pushing him about his secret
Veronika: Episode 7 makes me believe Veronika is hiding something, likely not her secret.
I also do believe Teruko, Eden or Nico will call out Levi for claiming to be a witness to the so-called attempted murder (as he only saw the aftermath)
In relation to my point of Nico snapping, I believe Arei tried to kill Ace via hanging and unknowingly framed Nico (as she wasn't there when Nico gave Ace a death threat).

I doubt all the motives are relevant to the case anyways."
It's not just the fact that she refused to share and that she tries to say that not all the motives are relevant, as if trying to move on with the conversation.
@@robotoorigato7288 Yesss, that would make a lot of sense
Nico's secret quote is "Why should I own up for the mistakes that someone else made?"
I'm think someone is forcing them to take the blame for all of Ace's attempted murder in some way. It's probably Hu.
Well she could still be saying that she wants to pass the trial as a spotless, but still she has been one of the most suspicious characters this chapter going back by a couple episodes. She’s my bet for who the killer might be or had at least some sort of involvement
Spoilers for Episode:
Ok, I might be completely off the mark but I'm like 99.999% sure that David lied about recieving Xander's motive.
Spoilers…
There’s gotta be more to the whole Nico and Ace attempted murder thing.
I don't wanna believe it's Eden 😰😢😭. She is too kind and humble 🥰
Spoilers
the fact that monotv doesn't know (or can't tell the cast) about what exactly makes a person a blackened makes me think this will be exploited in a later trial. it's so fascinating that monotv seems to know so little about what's going on lol
It adds on even more because iirc, MonoTV did say they didn't even know who their boss was, or something along those lines? Maybe they feed them vague information on purpose just to cause them more despair and conflict in the trials when they're focused on a "true" blackened in the future, since they'll just be gambling someone's life again there
ive seen someone say that because david is being so suspicious and out of character is because he was the one who got the motive for the person fault for the killing game so that's probably why he's acting like that
I’m excited to see how things will play out.
This is one of better fan games, isn`t it?
@@pawerzonca9447 Truly.
I'm not finished yet but David totally bullshitted whose secret he had (totally not Teruko's).
That guy lies constantly but he keeps getting away with it. The secret of manipulating others seems more and more that it belongs to him.
But she doesn't understand the motives behind the certain actions, though...
@@QqQ3Three3 True. But we also have to remember that Teruko is a very self-preservation focused person. Even if the others actions have good intentions, her focus on self-preservation may lead her to see it less as "they had good intentions" and more "they threw off the trial and risked us voting the wrong person".
@@christhomas9703 Well in that case, what is trust?
If we say David totally lied, we have 8 people who we don't know their secret.
I'd say:
*Competition poisoning might be Min's.
* Manipulation is very accurate for david.
* Younger sister's death is probably Levi's.
* Distraction is probably Veronica's.
If Xander's real motive was the one David said, Teruko's is unlikely to be the dead relative's one because she was born in an orphanage.
xander's is definitely guilty about his relatives' deaths, especially since it was basically the plot of his bonus episode (visiting graves).
"unsubscribe to life" is now my second-favorite euphemism for suicide, #1 is still "rage quit life"
@@eldritchteletubby9319 haha
ok i cant lie, "unsubscribe to life" made me laugh a tiny bit
i have the same predictions for the secrets, i just have veronika and arturo switched
I didn't expect Eden's and Xander's secrets to be like that :O
Omg i love how Teruko is Slaying everyone in the trial room.
I know right? We haven't seen that since Hajime (though he mainly takes ribs at people that annoy him like Nagito, Teru, and Hiyoko).
david probably lied about the motive since a dead person cant say anything about it. also charles had edens? im surprised
Ooo that's very true
Edens secret is so cute 🥰
my predictions are going to be either levi, J, arturo or david.
although ill admit david seems a bit too obvious, so i think he may have manipulated someone into killing arei. this might also fit with his secret which i believe to be "you exist to manipulate others" or maybe the "hopeless child" one.
levi and arturo are suspects because theyre the two i actually suspect to have the "murderer" secret. levi due to his backstory, and how he is prone to violence. as well as his secret quote which is "i always thought a person was defined by their actions, but maybe thats just an excuse for my heartlessness" which may refer to the "no remorse" part. although i dont know if theyd kill him off before him and ace make up, considering they seem to be a prominent pairing.
arturo is because uh..idk hes just sus to me.
finally, J. i think the theory of her pretending to be arei has some backing to it, considering teruko has been stated to not be able to tell facial features apart. not to mention veronika picking her apart about that, it just seems weirdly coincidental that arei just so happened to be hiding her face last episode. also, i believe that if david did manipulate someone into comitting the murder, it was probably J
So sad a cliffhanger 😭 but I really enjoyed it

- someone stole turpentine from Rose (Nico didn't deny that they did, but they didn't confirm it either)
@No, that's wrong. true 😂😂😂
So this is what I had surmised, from trying to put the controversial note. I could be wrong, and it's totally a shot in the dark.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it. And I found out your secret, I'm scared I need aid.
That wouldn't be the case but it is still my responsibility as a friend to me
of course. I need to meet you in the playground at 7:30. I want to d(ie) always than ever."
The "d(ie)" part was on the plastic jug.
Teruko, my Queen, I'm rooting for you to find that culprit. 💚💚💚💚💚💚🎉
Thank you for the scrum debate tutorial I was so lost

I was wondering how the ppl believing that theory would take this episode lol
@@KadenzJade6447 I mean she Barely got her redemption arc and they killed her off I was kinda hoping for this theorie to be true but By now there is a low chance it will happenx.x
Arei said people used to send her ropes to make fun of her and tell her to hang herself, I think the reason she is hung up like that is because her killer is someone who heard her say that.

DRDT SECRET THEORY
I thought it was kinda strange that Whit waits a while before confirming that Rose's secret is his and that his 'mother is dead.' Him saying "I just realised which one is mine" seems a little strange because of course most people would know which secret is theirs immediately, and it seemed like an inane detail to add in (chekov's gun and all that) so I went back and watched the sequence again and noticed something interesting.
I agree with you.
i get what you mean, but to be fair, hes the ultimate *plastic* surgeon

BRUHH THE NOTE WAS *WHAT*
A few things about the motives I’ve noticed:
First, MonoTV said that the billboard was based on what everyone AGREED on, not whether it was actually right.
