I think this episode just taught us something that J said. When no one stops to think where the breaking point of someone could be, shit happens, even if not justified. Ace decided to push Nico that far, Nico went too far. Everyone just ganged up on Ace, he went too far as well. I actually liked the message. Do i feel bad for Ace? Definitely. Do I wish this outcome was different? Of course. But was it meaningful? Yes, pretty much. No matter the real final outcome (just room for a bit more possible delulu) I still stand by my opinion stated many times: Ace goes down as a well written, even amazingly written character. Kudos to the creator, cause this episode actually made me tear up. And it's always like that guys, many people are corrupt, but there's always that one scapegoat that everybody ultimately gangs up on. The problem is you can't defend their actions, but you still can't help feeling bad and sympathetic towards them, and that's ok. And if the obvious outcome is finalized (again just delulu), actually kudos to Ace for almost getting away with all of that, and actually having the murder method figured out by just thinking about the aftermath of that situation, a possibility i didn't think about in my theories back then. Love him oe hate him, he gave us an interesting trial. A lil fun side note edit besides my appreciation for the likes: it's 4:17 am here. And I have no choice but to stay awake till i get dressed for university lmao, and Ace's case just added to the caffeine i guess lmao. Edit2: I'm also quite talkative so i usually reply everything. Sorry in advance.
@@tj_sarina8512 I completly agree, the theme that surrounded both Nico’s and Ace’s situation was excellent writing, my only nitpick is that it could have been hinted in the title of the chapter, but then it wouldn’t explain David’s breakdown or Hu’s mannerism to Nico
@@replacableVessel I get your point here, about the title. But the thing is, it could explain everything in a way. We know how it explained David obviously, we found out that there's actually more to Eden than just being the positive girl and a mystery around her, as well as explaining how Hu is a hypocrite. But it also explained Nico, the one babied by everyone just to end up attempting murder, all that glitters is not gold thing. And i can kinda tie it to Ace too (you see i have this shitty habit of trying to draw connection between the most irrelevant things in my life so I'm using my ultimate irrelevant connector talent here.) Ace actually proved the titles point. He wasn't the glittering thing, rather he was the one proving everyone that no one being good should be taken at face value, cause everyone claiming to be good people treated him like shit, and i do defend this point that the treatment was indeed more than he deserved even thoguh he was an ass.
During Ace's argument armament, I thought at first that he was sitting on a horse's statue, and noticed that the horse was rearing. According to popular folklore, if a horse is rearing in a statue it means that the rider died or will die in battle, in this case, the battle to survive in a killing game, which I think is a cool symbolism. Then after being defeated the horse lays down, indicating it was a living horse after all, and I'm not sure now if the symbolism was lost.
I love Ace's motive. His whole existence was him being a coward and the creator always told us that every chance they got. In the end his cowardice and fear is what caused him to die. Also props to Ace's voice actor cause he is so talented like OMG. this episode and the episode where he almost died his voice was fantastic.
i was conflicted between it being ace or eden last episode, but seeing people in the prev episode defending him with "ace would be to stupid to do this" i knew it was over for him
lmao i even thought that too!! (also because of the thing J said about not having enough time to process Nico's murder method). We should've known anything is possible in danganronpa😭
I feel like ace could have won the trial if he didn't use the exact same murder method as Nico. If he just simply strangled Ari with the rope and hung her instead it would have been harder for the students to narrow it down to ace.
The fact the Hu kept defending Niko despite the truth that he tried to kill Ace and fame her for it, is just stupid on her part. Even if Ace has been too much, at least feel some form of sympathy for him! The man almost died and literally no one took that fact seriously!
I don't think Hu knows how to be rational when someone she perceives as defenseless is getting bullied/picked on because she was also a victim of bullying I believe
I'm bummed at this. Not just because I got it wrong but because of how depressing and kind of relatable the culprit's situation was. SPOILERS AHEAD: Yeah it was Ace... his motive blew my mind and kind of hit hard. Ace knew no one liked him and that people would just keep trying to kill him in their attempts to get out so he struck first. I feel for that. Having everyone around you not respect you and outright dislike you due to reasons that aren't entirely in your control. Throughout the entire series people have been crapping on Ace. He's been the butt of so many jokes, nothing he says has ever been taken seriously. In this trial especially they just kept shouting him down and ignoring him. His abrasiveness kind of just made him the Ultimate Red Herring, the ideal person to kill to get you out or blame a killing on to cover yourself. Ace just wanted to live like anyone else. Calling the dude a chihuahua makes a tragic amount of sense now. They're loud yappy little dogs that're actually terrified of everything around them so they bite first. This trial is going mess me up for a while to come.
I mean ace is not a dog and tbh I don't dislike him but the reason why everyone in killing game dislike him because of his attitude. He can't blame others for disliking him when most of the time he was screaming and insulting someone. I would wish he survived chapter 2 and got some arc where he understands that yeah everyone in killing disrespectful towards but he is the reason they're and that he should start changing himself...
@@Masked_Kiddo I think she is just so nice that she sounds fake? I mean if she was fake than her motive in chapter 2 would be "you always faking your emotions" or something like that
@@Masked_Kiddo I mean she is fictional character so yeah a lot of people like her can be fake people but eden herself can be nice but maybe she will be 3rd chapter's murder or mastermind would be interesting to see her as evil bastard
@@Vile_Oreo they might actually take my predicted death where hes neck is tied to like a horse tail and he gets dragged around the race course choking as he gets bloody and scraped by the ground at full speeds and he will ether just chock to death or they might add something else as the final blow, i really hope they do this, it would fit his talent and his hole neck thing and i will be 100% proud of my self to come up/predict it, if not im making my own jocky fangan oc just for this lol, but it would fit ace far more
Man, i really feel for ace fans. Even though I didn't want it to be Eden, I wished for Ace to keep living. I really loved all the subtext to his character, especially his relationship with Levi.

Exquisite writing, I thought that having Ace as the culprit would be thematically strange, but he ended up being in the theme! I actually feel bad for him, even if killing Arei was wrong... I loved J's speech too. We don't stop to think about the breaking point. And Teruko losing it against Ace... "Don't you want to LIVE?!" It hit me hard. It makes her such a good protagonist.
It kinda goes back to how she treated Min, hoping that she'd start hating her. At a certain point, she genuinely seems to want to see Ace defend himself.
@@indigo_neoTo be fair to them the writing in this trial has been quite disappointing and lackluster for the most part. The content and the themes are mostly fine. But the pacing, the dialogue, the structuring of how everything got done, as well as some narrative choices. While they DO make sense, they are also extremely ineffective and amateurish. They lack a lot of maturity and quality. Again, the themes themselves can be very mature, but the implementation isnt. Its quite poor in many parts of this recent batch of episodes to be honest.
To all the people writing about ace’s potential think about Mins almost potential. (Before she died that is.) Me and a lot of viewers went into the chapter 1 trial thinking she was going to be a support, damm with an ultimate like that, why wouldn’t she? She could’ve also been extremely helpful in this trial but of course she was executed. So don’t take Ace off the table just because he has potential to grow, because honestly you can legit say that about anyone else who’s alive.
I agree with that. A potential doesn't directly innocent or prove the culpabilty to someone. Only proof and logic can determine the fate of a character in a class trial.
I definitely can agree with that Same thing goes for all the characters I want to either survive the whole story OR be executed. They all have potential
Exactly! I got so annoyed when people were saying Arei's character development was wasted! Like Hello this is Danganronpa it really should be no surprise that character developments get cut off!
I wasn’t an Ace Stan or anything but I was really hoping he’d get the redemption he needed. But honestly I think this trial hits so much harder knowing that not everyone can get a chance at redemption. Now, as all the Ace stans say, it’s Aceover
Spoiler? Ace proved to be a good second trial blackened. He came up with a convuleted enough scheme, his motives and frustrations all checked out and played out in a satisfying way that doesnt cheat his character nor does it paint him as the comic relief inappropriately at the end after his confession but instead we are treated to a tragic final few words from him and an affirming closing statement from Teruko to hype us for his execution. Looking forward to the next chapter already.
SPOILERS I believe that Arei was the perfect victim and Ace was the perfect murdered for this Chapter and I want to explain why. First off, both characters started Chapter 2 as unlikeable, loud, and annoying characters that no other characters liked or hated. From this point, both characters had widely different development. Arei was a jerk to Eden and told her off for being too nice. She regretted this because she only did it so that Eden would learn to be nicer. Arei wanted to be nice but her horrible childhood with her sisters didn’t allow her to do that. After David talked to her, she decided that she would be nicer. She told Arturo off after he threatened Eden and she decided to become Eden’s friend. She still hadn’t actually changed deep down but she was presenting herself differently and trying to be a better person. Ace, on the other hand, started to be more of a jerk. He bullied Nico and was rude to everyone else. Everyone started to hate him and it got to the point that Nico attempted to murder him. This caused Ace to realize that he had to kill or be killed, so he used Arei’s new found friendship with Eden to kill her. What makes this so tragically beautiful is that both Arei and Ace started at the same point but went down completely different paths that led to Ace having to kill Arei. If Ace had changed like Arei did, Nico never would’ve attempted murder and people wouldn’t have hated Ace. Ace wouldn’t have had to kill because he wouldn’t have been the most hated. You may say that Ace couldn’t have changed but that’s not true. We don’t know what happened to Ace that made he the way he was, but we do know that Arei changed after what happened to her. Change doesn’t happen overnight and Arei proves that. She only changed her outward actions, not who she was deep down. Eventually, she may have became a better person deep down if she didn’t die. Ace could’ve changed his outward actions without changing his heart immediately and then no one would hate him. He would’ve had no reason to kill. Ace had to kill Arei after Nico tried to kill him. He would’ve been killed by someone else if he didn’t. The problem is that he caused himself to get in that situation. He was a horrible person and he reached a point where he couldn’t change. If he had took charge of his life and tried to change like Arei did, Nico wouldn’t have tried to kill him and so he wouldn’t be force to kill Arei. I believe that this is a beautifully written Chapter and that the killer and victim are so similar to each other but the slight differences in their characters is what ended up to this murder happening in the first place. Ace’s motive is so realistic and human but it also shows how karma can catch up with you and that your actions do matter. Ace caused his own death due to his actions and his death was set in stone the moment that Nico decided to kill him, even if it failed
Well, imagine if it were reversed: that Arei kills Ace, and their circumstances are flipped. Instead of Arei confessing to David about her past, Ace confessed to him. If they really start from the same origin, then switching two students around wouldn't make a difference. But as you can clearly feel, it'd be weird if Ace started confessing to David. Because they do not choose different paths; they are different in their origin. Arei was bullied by her sisters and internalized the bullying; now release that frustration to expect everyone else to be like her. Ace, well, we don't know why he did it outside of the killing game's context, only inside, but it might be because he felt his job was miserable or... something? I don't know; I think Ace's motive is too grounded in the killing game. Maybe the later episode will reveal his backstory. Anyways, yeah, I absolutely agree with you: their reactions are very human and understandable, though I'm not sure if it's a bare minimum of rationality to do. They could have spent a little more time to "let's think about this," but, well, such is the killing game.
mondo is nothing like ace 😭 ??? literally the only similarities is they get angry quick, mondo is a nice guy and isnt a piece of shit to those around him for no reason lmfao
@@NostalgiaBee Min’s was self defense and Xander had already stabbed Teruko Ace’s is in no way self defense, and he chose Arei specifically because she was too trusting and trying to better herself
Charles calling everyone stupid and then saying he hates when other people call others stupid because he's the only smart person here is so slay king of him.
Ok, shit. So as someone with Thanatophobia, much like i suspect Ace had, I totally get why he did what he did. The whole idea is to think through all your options and pick the one that has the highest chance to keep you alive. And he's right-if everyone hates you that much, you’d probably end up getting killed if you didn’t act real fast. I don’t have Ace’s personality, so I probably wouldn’t be in a situation where killing someone felt like the best choice, but if you know everyone in a literal killing game hates your guts, that’s definitely gonna be one of your first thoughts. And then it's not just paranoia anymore because some guy DID actually just try to kill you, which even though its a horrible thing to do and they should be tied up or something, everyone else somehow doesn't care? just because YOU were the victim?? Yeah, you're seriously gonna die if you let this go on any longer. No one cares if you die, ergo no one would think twice if they wanted to kill you, it's just fucking logical, a three year old could figure that out. *I would try to kill someone too, and so would you* . Let's be real
@@kiyohimeisbetterthanmorgan220 I also have thanatophobia actually free my boy ace markey 😭😭 him realizing he has to kill because nobody will care if he dies what the hell ace resonates with me DEEPLY
SPOILERS I absolutely love the Teruko/Ace dynamic this episode. I think Teruko sees a lot of herself in Ace, and is equal parts fed up with him and sorry for him because of it. ALSO: My guesses for the blackened were so off. I was fully convinced it was Levi before the break, then Hu, and then I was horrified it was Eden because of how perfectly tragic of a twist that would be....and then Ace. Ace is literally the perfect killer. He's the only character in this cast who can get away with being loudly defensive and confrontational BECAUSE HE'S LITERALLY ALWAYS LIKE THAT LMAO
Fun fact, this trial is actually longer than any trial in the official Danganronpa series, being longer than DRV3's 6th trial, and is over twice the length of the first trial. (The lengths of the DRDT trials below do include the intro and outro times because I was too lazy to calculate the exact lengths.) DRDT Ch 2 Trial: 3 hours, 56 minutes, 11 seconds DRV3 Ch 6 Trial: 3 hours, 35 minutes, 32 seconds DRDT Ch 1 Trial: 1 hour, 44 minutes, 24 seconds
This trial was nearly 4 hours long??? Wow. I guess that's what happens when like half the trial is spent on the secrets that everyone thought would be relevant but ended up sort of just being a bunch of detours that had nothing to do with the murder.
@@solomonm.840 True, they didn't have anything to do with the murder, but I feel like they'll definitely have a major impact in the rest of the story, especially Teruko's secret (I think David actually had her secret and he was lying about it being Vander's.)

I’m just gonna rant for a second obviously SPOILERS AHEAD I can’t understand how people think Ace’s reason for killing is “weak” there doesn’t need to be some overly complicated reason revoking around backstories and trauma and stuff for someone to kill. Ace’s motive is extremely human. Knowing you’re probably the most hated person there, having someone who you constantly tormented almost kill you, of course you would be paranoid at the construct of dying. People are just so used to the overly emotional and detailed reasons, that when they are presented with a more straightforward one suddenly it’s weak?! Get your head out of your behinds for once and actually think about it!
I really like his motive as well. The killing game enforces the "kill or be killed" mindset so I'm not surprised that this mindset was Ace's motive because as you said, his attitude caused him to be the most disliked of the group, which would make him the most likely to be a victim a murder. I think a lot of people may not like this motive because it's a bit of a harsh reality. If anyone was put in a hostile environment like the killing game, who's to say you won't kill to ensure that no one kills you. I also heavily sympathize with him because he seemed like he was pushed into a corner. While I do understand the heavy disdain (I also don't like him because I don't really enjoy angry people), they were constantly belittling him. It seemed that no one was in his corner and even he knew that. Of course, most of that was warranted and Ace still shouldn't have killed Arei (especially in one of the most painful ways to go out) but the group could have possibly benefitted to be kind to him at least a little bit. Don't really blame them though because it is a killing game and emotions are heightened. Sorry for the rant, I really like watching the human psyche at work.
Nothing justifies murder unless it's self defense, while obviously he had a motive to kill someone and be concerned about the game, all that he had to do was not being a constant douche to everyone around it, I don't think he's dumb as obviously this plan required great effort for him to come up with, but making enemies of the people that you're stuck with in a situation like this was clearly not the move, all that he had to do was try to redeem himself or, at least, not pick on anyone. Like you said, his motive isn't "weak", but the whole line of thought could easily be dismantled if he was a better person in general.
@@gay4jhin “being a constant douche” was his defense mechanism, he used it to appear threatening to others. Obviously that isn’t a good idea but it was the only way he knew to protect himself.
Oh, WOW. I never imagined that Ace would be the killer. Throughout this week, I've been thinking about whether Eden was guilty or whether it was a third party, but I had never really believed in this option. And when I saw the length of the video, I was sure it was too long for Ace to be the culprit. I have to say, I love how obvious Ace's motive and bullying are in hindsight. It fits really well thematically. I admit it is a little suspicious that there was no scrum debate, that Arei's missing glove was never brought up (though she wasn't wearing it in the closing argument, does that mean she gave it to David for some reason?), that there wasn't any piece of evidence that definitely dammned Ace and that no one mentioned how Teruko was looking at Ace the entire time when he suposedly stole the tape. But since the video ended with the "trial closed" screen, I guess it won't be relevant for now. There's no way we'd get a failed trial this early in the series, right? Ace had recently grown on me, so I'm sad to see him die. But I'm glad Eden gets to live. Another twist that really surprised me was Nico quietly apologizing to Ace. At this point I had accepted that they were pretty much a sociopath who only saw people as tools and that they were described by David's secret even better than David himself, since we know that he genuinely cares about at least 2 people. I'm really glad to see they're not soulless. I wonder how they are going to feel about Ace's death, but I'm even more interested in seeing how Hu will react after the trial, considering that 2 of the people she really looked up to turned out to be evil. At least she still has Eden left. If she had turned out to be the killer I would have been worried Hu might commit suicide. However, this episode suggests that she isn't ready to change yet, as she is still irrationally siding with Nico. It was a bit sad how she didn't side with Ace when Teruko wanted to talk about his crime even though Ace asked her not to do it while she defended Nico even though they never asked for help. I'm probably the only person who actually likes her _more_ after this chapter, since now she's interesting. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the series finale next week. This chapter was a blast!
Ace being mad at J for literally saying “he’s too stupid” that would save him is the last straw for me. I dont like Ace, but I can understand his character. And also, him unable to sleep because he’s afraid of dying is literally me. Imagine saw one person who killed someone got executed and then got haunted by what happened if you going to kill or get killed, ofc you would want to get out. Even so, it’s going to haunt you forever, no matter. You cannot go back to your old self. One thing that Danganronpa, or at least the killing game for the characters, that needs to be remembered is that once your inside the killing game, you could never go back to your old life (unless you were able to escape with everyone else without people dying, like that one minigame from Drv3 where everyone escaped from the tunnel). Man, I was really looking forward to his redemption arc after the trial, but I guess that won’t ever happen. Rip Ace 😢 Hate to go on with the positive points cuz yknow. But Teruko shutting off Ace is one of the reasons why she’s my favorite character (first behind Rose and Whit). I mean, imagine someone screaming at everyone, including you, that “you have no evidence”, “you all are stupid, uncaring dogshits/(other names)” or anything like that even though they are in the wrong, would you stays silent and wait for them to shut up even though they are actually annoying or shut them off immediately? Personally, if I encounter someone like Ace and they won’t stop screaming 24/7, I would actually lost it.
Well in reality, if someone screams at you and you can't take it and scream back at them, unless that someone is your loved ones, they will scream louder. They will not have a "Oh damn, I was wrong," kinda moment. For Teruko, it works because she has some authoritative power (protagonist and leading the class trial). But if I met a stranger and they yell at me, I'd excuse myself out of the conversation before their angers get to me, you know?
It being Ace breaks my heart honestly. Seeing the way the others treated him that he was past his breaking point.. when I saw the image of ace on the horse I knew it was him.. god damn this is actually sad fr looking forward to the execution but also not :((
guys if you don't like the writing that's okay! everyone has opinions. literally just don't say it rudely. good criticism makes the creator want to improve, not tear them down. also it's literally one person doing most of the work so please dont insult them personally me personally i liked this :3 keep up the work cant wait to see the execution edit. thank you jastopher how did i forget the word dont
Like, I will be honest. I'm sure the dev worked hard on this but this chapter just... kind of doesn't sit right with me. I hate to say that, and I don't want to make anyone who put so much effort into this feel down, but that's just how I honestly felt. Like it has nothing to do with I'm mad about this character or that character dying, (I didn't even really care for Ace) I just felt like half of this trial felt like it was a waste of time, and just felt really weirdly written in my opinion. Hey, maybe I just have my own preferences.
One thing that felt like a missed opportunity was the period of time when Teruko wasn't paying attention to Eden at Ace's attempted murder scene. In terms of "who could have grabbed the tape without Teruko noticing," it points more towards Eden. Of course, if you go back to that episode, you can see the tape is by Ace's feet (and this is also seen in Teruko's flashback last episode), so Eden couldn't have taken it without getting directly in front her. Still, David could have used it to sow further doubt: "are you SURE you remember where the tape was? you couldn't even remember Arai's swinging corpse"
Spoiler… Is this actually relatable and very realistic in the human behavior if I was in a killing game I would probably eventually snap to so I understand ace but I also understand j’s point
So, with everything that has happened, I do want it share my thoughts at some point but I have one pressing thing to say. Spoilers btw So I feel like fact so many people are upset that ace is the culprit (and I have seen some kinda harsh comments about the writing for the chapter, which will I do believe a third party would have been better I won’t say such harsh words), actually proves how good of a writer the creator is at least for the characters, they have made some pretty cool characters who do feel human with the fact or flaws and such, and I feel like despite all the emotions we have about how this chapter closes. I at least want to thank the creator for making such characters that are so interesting people get torn up about them it does show to me at least, the creator has done a really good job with these characters. So if the creator sees the comment, thank you for making this fangan and the characters, and wish you luck on whatever the future holds for you I do want to give my thoughts on the enter chapter at a later point I just wanted to get my main point out their, I just hope people will be respectful of my opinions on the matter, thank you
ACE MARKEY IS INNOCENT YOUR HONOR!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Wow Teruko scared me. That was so good tho I feel bad for Ace after all. I feel bad he has to die so quick into the series. He never had the chance to redeem himself and get free of his paranoia. He never had anybody who believed in him J is so real for that speech
If you think about it, Ace went through the same stuff Teruko did. He's a survivor of an attempted murder, left with a scar, forever as a reminder. He feels as if there's no one he could turn to or trust, leaving in a state of constant paranoia, feeling as if everyone's out to get him. And now, he's in a trial accused of murder with no one on his side. But where Teruko used logic to prove her innocence, Ace was just grasping at whatever straw he could find.
Well, seeing how many people are distressed for this chapter's conclusions, it means at least the story continues to be engaging. I might need to grab some popcorn for the drama that's about to come
1:53 There's another instance of Ace eavesdropping. Back in episode 2, Ace "left" the gym and Levi and Teruko were talking about how Levi should handle Ace. He came back in because he overheard Teruko telling Levi to abandon him. So even before he was planning a murder, he already was eavesdropping lol.
SPOILERS FOR THIS EPISODE: WAIT ACE’S CHARACTER WAS SHOWING THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT TRUSTING PEOPLE ENOUGH SO TERUKO WONT GO DOWN THE WRONG PATH‼️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️😦 ALSO THANK YOU DRDT DEV FOR STILL PULLING THROUGH ON THIS 🎉🎉🎉 YOU STILL MANAGED TO FINISH THIS, EVEN WITH ALL THE CHALLENGES YOU DID IT BRO‼️‼️‼️‼️
that would be cool too since it contrasts with all that shit david said a bit earlier on to teruko about not trusting people ace's trial message could serve as a sort of driving force for her to disprove what david told her? maybe? idk i just binfed the last 3 episodes im tired :(
SPOILERS DOWN BELOW FOR THE CURRENT CHAPTER. ALSO SPECULATION ON UPCOMING CHAPTERS Did anyone else notice that they did not show Act 3 and 4 on the comic strip? Like that was really suspicious in my opinion. I'm not really aware if all trials usually have an act four but alot if not all usually have an act 3. ALSO "This sums up what you've done SO FAR" TERUKO WHAT DO YOU MEAN SO FAR 😭I'm pretty sure it's over for Ace anyways, but by making the comic strip shorter than usual it could suggest that someone else had been messing with the crime scene afterwards or something. The scratches on the floor had not been mentioned yet afterall for some odd reason.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm glad dev went down this route. Teruko's development would have been completely shot and her character would be even more insufferable if Eden was the killer. This is the only logical way the trial could've gone and while I feel some decisions/writing choices were floundering for time earlier from episodes 12/13, the dev pulled it back around to make the last chunk of the case extremely compelling with some pretty good character depth across the board. :D Overall satisfied with the way things went
All of the evidence in this episode is entirely conjecture, though. Literally, if it wasn't for Ace exclaiming that he was the killer, there'd be zero way to prove it was him. Even in the final review of the case there was some things mentioned that had never even been mentioned in the case. I don't know, I feel like this episode ended up a little... rushed, I guess? I mean, it makes sense that a case would sometimes have to be solved based on logical conjectures, but seemed to be all they had in the end. It doesn't really sit that well to me. There could have been logical and damning evidence to prove that he did it, but that never came. The exercise band wasn't even at the crime scene nor proven to have been part of the case at all, Teruko just made the assumption that it was used.
@@sarkaztik3228 While I do agree with SOME of what you said (I was kinda confused on where the wristband came from), I *respectfully* disagree as I feel like they could be said with any other character. @@thejudge3853I could see that Though right now we have 2 episodes left (episode 16 is more than likely the wrap up and execution part since this will have the conclusion) and they would have to give reasons why Ace could of done it , disprove why Ace could of done it, find someone who could of done it, prove someone could of done it, and do the conclusion in 45 minutes That seems like a lot for one episode
@StarCookie1234 shhh. Shhh let me be delusional. Actually it's none of the students it's a secret 17th person. Ace is innocent so let's end the trial now and all be friends!!!
No kidding so am I, I legitimately thought it was hu the whole time and regardless of who the culprit is I’m still going to be upset. I love ace and Eden and I’m going to be sad when one of them dies.😭
I'm calling it now, the reason they didn't show the execution is because something is going to happen. Whether it be someone has a breakdown, Ace isn't actually the culprit, etc, I highly doubt we're not going to see the execution.
Though, the thing that confuses me as to if Ace isn't the culprit is that he admitted it. He admitted he killed Arei and all the evidence points to him, so I feel like it cutting out so soon is just because he's either going to have a breakdown or because someone else is
I feel it’s time for this trial’s scrum debate! It could be “Eden’s the Killer!” (David, Ace, Levi, Arthuro, Veronika, and Charles) VS “Ace’s the Killer!” (Teruko, Eden, Nico, Rose, Hu, Whitt, and J)
I'm so dissapointed that there wasn't one. I was so hoping that the debate would be when they were discussing if he was too weak or stupid and he would be on Teruko's side trying to say that he isn't weak.
Why is Ace literally just the very best character in the cast like the others as much as I love them will not live up to his legacy, they won't even graze how amazing and perfect of a character he is I love Ace so much
At least he doesn't fake it like so many others in the cast he's scared of dying and was proven right that he was probably wasn't going to make it to the end. If anyone else was almost killed do you think they'd stand around and try to be buddy buddy no they'd start planning immediately.
I super appreciate Charles saying how hard it is to ride a horse. So many people truly think we just sit on the horse and the horse does all the work. It's a team effort between horse and rider.
@@BittersweetKingdom ooooh, O heard some people in streams saying stuff like that but I always thought that It was just a thought but yeah. I think he and Levi would make a super cute couple(hehehehuee future maybe possible BOYFRIENDS??) I hope so. I love Ace, If he dies in this chapters or any other I don't known how I will live without my horse boy.
I wasn’t an Ace Stan or anything but I was really hoping he’d get the redemption he needed. But honestly I think this trial hits so much harder knowing that not everyone can get a chance at redemption. Now, as all the Ace stans say, it’s Aceover
we still have hope AAs may not be final, later they pulled out some big damn interesting shit like SDRA2 then it will be hyped, not to mention the scrum debate (I thought that it will be discussing if Ace is capable of doing the murder) is non-existent
I'm so upset Ace was the killer. I really didn't like him at first, but as the story went on, he grew on me. This episode made me want to cry, especially when Ace gave up trying to defend himself.
Spoilers: You know what I find interesting? The cast seem to be less mad at Ace for this murder than they were at Min for Case 1, even though Min killing Xander was basically a horrible accident that she was forced to deal with after it happened (not to mention she was trying to stop Xander from killing someone else). Maybe it's because other people did terrible things in this chapter too. Arturo threatened Eden's life. David tried to lose the trial. Nico tried to kill Ace. Hu was irrationally defending what Nico did and blaming Ace for Nico's murder attempt. Levi admitted to being a murder and doesn't really care about it, and also gave up on trying to help Ace. Maybe some of them blame themselves for how it all came to this. No one aside from Min really did anything that bad in chapter 1. Well, except, y'know, Xander trying to kill Teruko and frame Charles, but Xander died before anyone could really chew him out for that. Maybe people aren't as mad at Ace because this case has way more to do with who Ace is as a person than Min's case did with her, and that makes it more tragic in a sense. Almost like this was always going to happen no matter what, which is pretty cruel. Maybe it's because people are just tired of all the death at this point and don't want to watch yet another person in this game go out like this. Either way, I'm glad I got to witness this. Ace Markey is probably going to go down as one of my Top 10 favorites in canon or fanon Danganronpa. Well done, DRDT. Well done.
DAMN. This whole episode, the more Ace grew on me, and the more I didn't want it to be him. Also, using danganronpa logic, it just felt weird to be the first of the 2 culprits they all zeroed in on. I really thought there was going to be some twist partway through. Aaand, ngl, I'm still delulu. Ik ace admitted it and we did the closing argument but let me have this. It seems weird that there are a few crucial details missing. Also, if we're discussing secrets: Ace eats very little and his body is apparently falling apart. What person who is struggling with that has the physical strength to strangle someone? Not eating fucks you up BAD. Idk, it seems weird to go this far and I'm sure it really is just Ace, but there a few details that are kinda weird to me. But I also just don't want it to be him soooo 🙃 I love u Ace. Wish u hadnt murdered bro.
The few crucial details remaining can be explained post voting. The Closing Arguments are, usually, mostly correct theories, after all. An example: Gundham didn't ambush Nekomaru. It was a mutually agreed duel to the death.
Spoilers I was really hoping the murderer wouldn't be Ace. That said, I think it couldn't have been written better. Ace being a murderer and succumbing to his bad nature contrasts the victim in this case. Him refusing to get along with the cast or rely on them is a warning to Teruko. And J talking about how Ace was shoved into a corner was the cherry on top. I also really love how hidden most plot relevant events were, like Ace taking the band. Overally, very purposeful second culprit and only makes me more excited for the series to continue. I will just have to mourn Ace.
Come to think of it, if they promptly got stuck and forced to discuss the remaining evidence, then figuring out a 3rd party's involvement and incriminating them could still be done in ep15. Teruko had nothing to further accuse Ace or Eden, since their previous discussion was centered entirely on who took the tape, and Teruko back then simply didn't notice either doing so. I see the trial could start like "let's chat, how do you prove your innocence?" "asshole! how can you prove I took it!" "wait…you're right, I don't remember either of you taking it" (and she can't take either's testimony against the other so if she didn't remember it's a dead end) Therefore it saves a lot of time and they can go back on track exhuating other unsolved things, which opens up possibilities to maybe realize something crucial of an evidence to directly pin someone. Pure logic-based process of elimination alone never constitutes DR formula as they got to find something to connect someone's act. And I think if a 3rd party really is the case, someone will slip something to progress the case.
I knew the tape had to have something pointing to Ace when he did makeshift first aid on his wounds by himself in his room. Since what else would he have used? Also, props to someone in the K/C Discord for guessing the "slingshot effect", haha.
Spoilers maybe Also I think David really wants to take Teruko out of the game because he didn't really bring the argument of someone witnessing Arei before Teruko to help, he did it to make her distrust others, continuing her downfall and was displeased that she chose to trust again. I think this is because Teruko's secret is that she is the reason for this killing game and he does agree with Xander trying to take her out. He has some memories of before this killing game and Teruko previously mentioned that she couldn't recognize which secret is hers among the list. Xander's secret is most likely the family one based on his bonus episode so Teruko's is either the one about poisoning the competition or being the cause of the game to start. David is the only one who would know which secret he holds so he lied that Xander was the one with the killing game secret and was pleased when Teruko chose the wrong secret as hers to proceed with the trial. In the future, David will probably try multiple ways to get Teruko to spiral/be taken out.
I Do wanna say this rtial really provides something i wish i got out of the main games. None of the main game's really explored the idea of someone just breaking under the pressures of the killing game. You would see tentions flare from the group dynamics but never resulted in a trial without being heavily influenced by the motive.
I can feel pity for Ace, but, at the same time, rewatching the chapter and the others, I can't really say it's not his fault. I'm aware of the kind of pain Ace has-when I was young, I also had no control of myself, I was also an aggresive asshole and I also felt like there was nothing I could do except that which I hated. It's an horrible feeling; that you know you suck yet you're powerless and scared. You will never have control of yourself, or your life, and that kills you. But it's still your responsibility. You can't act aggresive with others and expect them to retort with kindness. If you hate and distrust everyone else from the start, the others will do, and they will never care about you. Levi tried to approach him and Ace pretty much pushed him away, and then just totally burned whatever connection they could have when he learned that Levi can't exactly care. He kept pushing everyone, and so, others treated him like shit. One could blame the others too for going too far, but it's still Ace's responsibility for being like that. And yet, it's a tragedy. His fear, his lack of control, those made him act aggresive with those he meet, his paranoia made him push those away, and in exchange, they didn't care for him, and so, his paranoia got worse. A cycle that gets worse everytime, until he broke under its pressure. Perhaps, if someone was able to break through that fear, paranoia, and pain, he could have been saved.
You're right. His life was horrible. But seeing how he continues with that attitude, I can't help but wonder that if he was spared, would he really changed? Maybe... not. So he's destined to die. Pretty tragic.
As always this is perfection, from the plot to the characters to their voice acting and art. Everything is done so beautifully, cant wait to see the rest of it 🫶
I didn’t even realize I was so attached to Ace but after he was narrowed down as one of the suspects in the last episode I realize now I really like his character and I think I was probably in denial seeing him being accused like I was SO sure it wasn’t going to be him even though it was probably obvious… this is man is for real making me go through the five stages of grief
You know...Nico would be an interesting character later on, surviving throughout the killing game, having betrayed everyone's trust, living throughout the killing game as an attempted killer, they would be so interesting seeing survive throughout the killing game.
They better not pull an "Ace actually faked being knocked out during his murder", because while we can dispend our disbelief, not that far. How the hell would someone who's been affectively drugged, injured, and suffering through im guessing some stage of organ failure, starvation, and most likely dehydration (both because his ED can cause dehydration and because it's a common thing for jockeys with ED's to abuse working out and saunas to get rid of water weight) somehow able to just stay awake through it and calculate what Nico was doing to him. Not to mention he would definitely not be the type to just lay there and let someone do that to him. He's an impulsive person. I still think its a misdirect and its neither of them.
Ace not being knocked out might actually a possibility.. cuz his head wasn't injured.. Nah what am I saying how did the ceiling fan fell if ace wasn't unconscious😭
@@RVEYYYYNico said Ace woke up and him suddenly moving around is what broke the fan. But when he fell, he apparently hit his head and got briefly knocked out again.

@@MinsnumberOneFan thank you for the kindness😁
@@tj_sarina8512 I completly agree, the theme that surrounded both Nico’s and Ace’s situation was excellent writing, my only nitpick is that it could have been hinted in the title of the chapter, but then it wouldn’t explain David’s breakdown or Hu’s mannerism to Nico
I can relate, I can relate to Ace feeling pathetic and having to own up to that feeling at the worst time...
And i can kinda tie it to Ace too (you see i have this shitty habit of trying to draw connection between the most irrelevant things in my life so I'm using my ultimate irrelevant connector talent here.)
Ace actually proved the titles point.
Then after being defeated the horse lays down, indicating it was a living horse after all, and I'm not sure now if the symbolism was lost.
not a living horse = not a real game? not a real killer? something we aren't seeing??????
(idk i just want ace to live 😭)
I love Ace's motive. His whole existence was him being a coward and the creator always told us that every chance they got. In the end his cowardice and fear is what caused him to die.
Also props to Ace's voice actor cause he is so talented like OMG. this episode and the episode where he almost died his voice was fantastic.
Victim: Distrustful person who was learning to Trust.
Killer: Distrustful person who let their Distrust take over.
:(
i was conflicted between it being ace or eden last episode, but seeing people in the prev episode defending him with "ace would be to stupid to do this" i knew it was over for him
lmao i even thought that too!!
The visuals for Despair Time are always amazing!!
Great trial and much love from the Kill Crew. (Can’t wait for the execution 👀)
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Yeah it was Ace... his motive blew my mind and kind of hit hard.

Fair, but you could make the same argument about Eden
I definitely can agree with that
Same thing goes for all the characters I want to either survive the whole story OR be executed. They all have potential
Exactly! I got so annoyed when people were saying Arei's character development was wasted! Like Hello this is Danganronpa it really should be no surprise that character developments get cut off!

SPOILERS
I believe that Arei was the perfect victim and Ace was the perfect murdered for this Chapter and I want to explain why.

I absolutely love the Teruko/Ace dynamic this episode.

(The lengths of the DRDT trials below do include the intro and outro times because I was too lazy to calculate the exact lengths.)
DRDT Ch 2 Trial: 3 hours, 56 minutes, 11 seconds
DRV3 Ch 6 Trial: 3 hours, 35 minutes, 32 seconds
DRDT Ch 1 Trial: 1 hour, 44 minutes, 24 seconds
This trial was nearly 4 hours long??? Wow.
I guess that's what happens when like half the trial is spent on the secrets that everyone thought would be relevant but ended up sort of just being a bunch of detours that had nothing to do with the murder.

I’m just gonna rant for a second obviously SPOILERS AHEAD
I can’t understand how people think Ace’s reason for killing is “weak” there doesn’t need to be some overly complicated reason revoking around backstories and trauma and stuff for someone to kill.
Hell wasn’t that Mins reason to kill too? Not ever personal motive has to connect to the game’s motive.
At the end of the day, isn’t that the motive for anyone killing in a killing game? Fear of death?
So sorry for u gay men (aceover)
The Kotoko profile picture makes this so much better 😭
Rip Ace 😢
Hate to go on with the positive points cuz yknow.

Like it has nothing to do with I'm mad about this character or that character dying, (I didn't even really care for Ace) I just felt like half of this trial felt like it was a waste of time, and just felt really weirdly written in my opinion. Hey, maybe I just have my own preferences.
@@tnt1770 maybe we’ll get some more closure after the trial ends
Spoiler…
Is this actually relatable and very realistic in the human behavior if I was in a killing game I would probably eventually snap to so I understand ace but I also understand j’s point
the fact that Nico whispered “I’m sorry…” at 8:44 I’m actually so sad
So, with everything that has happened, I do want it share my thoughts at some point but I have one pressing thing to say.

So I feel like fact so many people are upset that ace is the culprit (and I have seen some kinda harsh comments about the writing for the chapter, which will I do believe a third party would have been better I won’t say such harsh words), actually proves how good of a writer the creator is at least for the characters, they have made some pretty cool characters who do feel human with the fact or flaws and such, and I feel like despite all the emotions we have about how this chapter closes.
I at least want to thank the creator for making such characters that are so interesting people get torn up about them it does show to me at least, the creator has done a really good job with these characters.
So if the creator sees the comment, thank you for making this fangan and the characters, and wish you luck on whatever the future holds for you
I do want to give my thoughts on the enter chapter at a later point I just wanted to get my main point out their, I just hope people will be respectful of my opinions on the matter, thank you

I feel bad for Ace after all. I feel bad he has to die so quick into the series. He never had the chance to redeem himself and get free of his paranoia. He never had anybody who believed in him
J is so real for that speech
You don't have any evidence for it,btw. Objection refuted
“That sums up what you’ve done so far”
That line was definitely not put in unintentionally.

I'm glad dev went down this route.

Agreed, plus it wouldn’t make ANY sense since Eden has no reason to kill Arei
You know what I find interesting?
Well done.
The treatment of Min was unanecessarily cruel for real.
But I also just don't want it to be him soooo 🙃
I love u Ace. Wish u hadnt murdered bro.
The few crucial details remaining can be explained post voting.
The Closing Arguments are, usually, mostly correct theories, after all.
An example: Gundham didn't ambush Nekomaru. It was a mutually agreed duel to the death.
no need to get an execution, everyone already MURDERED ace
Spoilers
I was really hoping the murderer wouldn't be Ace.
I see the trial could start like "let's chat, how do you prove your innocence?" "asshole! how can you prove I took it!" "wait…you're right, I don't remember either of you taking it" (and she can't take either's testimony against the other so if she didn't remember it's a dead end)
Therefore it saves a lot of time and they can go back on track exhuating other unsolved things, which opens up possibilities to maybe realize something crucial of an evidence to directly pin someone. Pure logic-based process of elimination alone never constitutes DR formula as they got to find something to connect someone's act. And I think if a 3rd party really is the case, someone will slip something to progress the case.
What if all the characters exploded?
praying this happens so none of my favs die from back to back anymore ❤

I knew the tape had to have something pointing to Ace when he did makeshift first aid on his wounds by himself in his room. Since what else would he have used? Also, props to someone in the K/C
Discord for guessing the "slingshot effect", haha.

Also I think David really wants to take Teruko out of the game because he didn't really bring the argument of someone witnessing Arei before Teruko to help, he did it to make her distrust others, continuing her downfall and was displeased that she chose to trust again.
Well Miu did but she ended up as a victim instead lol and Sayaka but same…
Y'all be forgetting about Celestia. Sure, money is one of her motive. But she really wants to get out of the killing game
I could be misremembering it but didn't Teruteru crack under the pressure and kill because he wanted to see his mum?
the ASS (Ace Survive Society) is going to hold a grudge on everyone
Maybe the real culprit is the friends we made along the way chat
🙏 so real

This 🙏
Real 🙏🙏
if the culprit killed arei, then perhaps the culprit and i were not friends to begin with
As always this is perfection, from the plot to the characters to their voice acting and art. Everything is done so beautifully, cant wait to see the rest of it 🫶
I didn’t even realize I was so attached to Ace but after he was narrowed down as one of the suspects in the last episode I realize now I really like his character and I think I was probably in denial seeing him being accused like I was SO sure it wasn’t going to be him even though it was probably obvious… this is man is for real making me go through the five stages of grief
ace fans we might actually be cooked
real 😢 (I’m a ace fan and I’m gonna tweak out if his actually the culprit
lol, lmao
So is eden fan's
Nah man, we're deep fried and ready to be served
Our boy is about to get trampled to death via horses 😭😭😭😭
You know...Nico would be an interesting character later on, surviving throughout the killing game, having betrayed everyone's trust, living throughout the killing game as an attempted killer, they would be so interesting seeing survive throughout the killing game.
Anyone else want to give Ace a hug?
Me since the beggining of the series
Me too
They better not pull an "Ace actually faked being knocked out during his murder", because while we can dispend our disbelief, not that far.
@@RVEYYYY For some reason the wall BEHIND his head had blood though even though his injury was on the front so maybe he did hurt his head idk???
I said this before
Well I have something to ask :(
