I’m not a bow hunter but thought I’d check out this video and so glad I did. It’s nice to see an actual hunt instead of someone shooting something 600 yards away. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for that Oscar. So glad you enjoyed it. There's nothing like being close to them!
We need to stop “liking” every 600 yard shot posted on social media to get the message across. This was a good hunt
Love that you had the presence of mind to let down and calm for a minute before trying again to shoot! I would way rather watch an ethical real hunt than a celebrity trophy hunt with all the bells and whistles. First video of yours I’ve seen but I subscribed cuz of your humility. 👍
Thanks Aaron! I was proud of myself for letting down. I think that sometimes we feel there isn't enough time, when in all reality we usually have more time than we think. Thanks for watching and for the subscribe!
I really appreciate your your humbleness. Mother Nature really weeds out the arrogant! Your appreciation and respect didn't go unnoticed! Great hunt and job well done! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Logan! She certainly does. Can't wait until next year!
Absolutely amazing video. So damn cool, pumps me up to hunt solo with the bow.
Also, thanks for packing your camera gear to share your experience and adventure with the world. You’re what keeps hunting humble.
Very much appreciated Brandon. Thank you for that. Good luck on your solo archery hunts!
Great video. Backcountry is very humbling indeed.
@david.frandsen Thanks man! That's the truth!
Loved the video and all of your content! How was the new pack?
Great video! Huge props. What pack are you running?
Beautiful back country back there brother. Always a good place to get grounded! Especially in a solo hunt!
@@cesarpulido4896 Couldn't agree more 👊🏼
Amps me up for the 2023 Archery Season; thank you for the video! Question, What boots you are using? Cripis? Congras on the harvest!
Thanks Sal! I'm pumped too! Those are the Crispi Colorado GTX II.
Awesome video man.
I was listening to you and Brian Call on the Gritty podcast and thought I’d check ya out. Keep doing what you’re doing. There aren’t many true hunters like yourself, Brian, and Lampers. Stay true, stay gritty. God Bless
Very cool! That was a fun chat with Brian. Thanks so much for the kind words and glad you liked the video!
I’ve seen a lot of hunting channels and by far this is the best, subscribed. Fantastic editing. Thank you for the hunt!
Very much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to watch the film. 🙏🏼
Check out solo hunter. Remi Warren and Tim Burnett put out some amazing hunting videos.
Great content. I am a die hard bowhunter. It's very hard to make good choices in the moment of truth. Great choice letting down. I have been hunting arizona last two yrs for mule deer and need advice on glass. Currently use swarovski slc 15x56 and vortex 12x50. Both are great but I need something better for long distance. What would you suggest? I tried one spotting scope from vortex and the heat waves made it useless.
Thanks man. Yeah, super happy I made the decision to let down. Just didn't feel right.
Sounds like you've got a dang solid glassing setup. I personally use a 65mm Vortex Razor HD for my spotter. I've always loved their stuff. I haven't personally had too many issues with heat waves either. I'm not sure that's something one could get around though if they're there? If you find something that does, I'd be curious to hear what it is. Thanks again for the kind words. 👊🏼
been followin ya on IG for a bit, first vid i watched of yours, GREAT JOB! very well done and nice buck!
Thanks dude! Appreciate the support!
Very impressive video. Your appreciation for the mountains and game noted. And accepting any decent buck for the trophy it is and the value of the meat.
Thank you Larry. 🙏🏼 Nothing but love for these critters and the places they call home.
Short a sweet video. Good quality content. And video was great! These days videos are so long with nothing of any value. Thank you for the great video!
Very much appreciated Dakota! 🙏🏼
Well done buddy!!! Congrats!!
Thanks Pedro! Love it when it all comes together like that. Wicked hunt!
What an epic hunt
Gods creation is a master piece
Nice job , way to be humble after a huge victory
God Blesses the humble
Thanks for that Andrew. Appreciate you taking the time to watch the film and chime in. Already missing that country!
God's creation is amazing! Thanks for sharing the adventure!
Thank you for watching!
Good job bud! Congrats! Nice buck. I love them velvet bucks.
They are so awesome. Doesn't get much better than velvet bucks above treeline! Thanks for watching. 👊🏼
Dig the channel seams like we’re cut from the same cloth. Keep up the good work
Thanks Dan! That's awesome!
I have an archery muledeer tag here in N. NV opening in a couple weeks. This gets me psyched.
Love to hear it! 💪🏼
Great video my dude! good audio, great music, and above all great videography
Thank you very much Kyle! Stoked you liked it! 👊🏼
Man I have to say I am very impressed with the effort you out into the video shots, framing, etc. Not easy when you’re solo!!
Thanks man! Not easy when you're doing it, but so worth it in the end!
Loved this!! Just need a lil work on your mic at times. Good luck out there
Thanks! Yeah, I agree. I need to be better about that. Good luck!
Amen brother I feel the same way out there 🤙🏽 and congrats on that buck
I appreciate it. The mountains are always humbling!
Nice edit… epic story, good vibes bro 🙌❤️🤙
Thanks for the kind words and for chiming in. 💪🏼
Well done. Enjoyed it all. Congrats on a unique buck.
👊🏼👊🏼
Awesome hunt and great job with the solo film work. Loved it! Congratulations!
Thanks Dylan!
great video. killer intro song man, who sings that?
Thanks!
Artist - Tommy Ljungberg
Song - Black Hole
Great video and congrats on a beautiful deer.
Thanks! Such a great hunt. Can't wait for next year.
Awesome video brother 🏹
Thank you!
Brother where are you from love your videos I live in Tucson just wondering if I’m going to ever run into you
You might! Haha. I'm up in Peoria. Thanks so much. 👊🏼
@@DialedinHunter I’m always in 36a and 34a my back yard hope to see you out there one day!
Your not joking when you talked about how under prepared you are. I just did 2 weeks hunting elk here in Wyoming. I was running 2 miles a day trying to get ready. It wasn’t enough
It humbles one for sure. Hope you had a good hunt!
@@DialedinHunter killed my first bull elk(4x5) ever with a bow so yeah it was an awesome time. Now it’s time to go up and hopefully get on some for my son to get an elk
@@rrr3r2 Congrats and good luck!
Yes 🙌🏻 what I have been waiting for. I was thinking 🤔 what do I want to watch next? Then the notification for this one pops up and I got my answer. I am glad that I did.
Another great film from you Josh. Congratulations on your Utah buck 🏹🦌 Did you send a bottom tooth 🦷 off to get aged? Would be cool to see if he is 6 years old or something like that. Information like that is beneficial to know on the animals we hunt and love so much.
I shot a wide yet short tine 3x3 whitetail with broken tines. He was a very big bodied buck. The biggest that my Dad had seen on the ground in a very long time. I felt his teeth 🦷 and they still felt sharp.
A year later, last year I took a taller rack 4x4 buck in practically the same spot, both with a rifle. He had a much smaller body, yet still bigger than a mature doe.
I should have got them aged, but believe both to be 3.5 years old.
Thanks as always man! I did not send a bottom tooth.
@@DialedinHunter you are welcome 🙏 bud. Ok was just curious 🤨 since he looks like an older buck 🦌
This guy is a savage! Awesome stuff man!
Hahaha! Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
Gonna try to do some whitetail bow hunting this weekend in Illinois!!! Great video man!!!!
Thanks so much! Good luck out there!
Great video. What kind of arrows are those?
Thanks! Those are Easton Axis 4mm Long Range in 300 spine. Broadhead is an Evolution Outdoors Jekyll.
Very nice crisp video. Great job!
Thanks! Fun hunt!
How many trips to get all the gear and meat out ?
1 trip boned out deer and camp. Was HEAVY!
Good work man, great hunt and good content!
Thank you! Almost time for round 2!
Excellent video
Awesome job both deer and flim
Thanks dude! 👊🏼
what brand is your back pack?
Exo Mountain Gear. It's the K4 5000
Why doesn’t your brother go with you on these hunts?
I'd love for him to, but the dude is head over heels for fishing, haha. I love seeing him chase his passions.
@@DialedinHunter I don’t blame him either way, I absolutely love bass fishing as much as I love hunting deer! Best of luck to you this season, may god bless you and keep you in good health, keep the awesome content coming!
@@ESC-AZ88 Much appreciated! Good luck to you too!
At that steep angle at 35 yards at the deer, did you shoot it for 30 yards?
Great question. 35 yards was the cut. I'm honestly not sure what the line of sight was. I had my rangefinder set to the HCD mode(angle compensation). It read 35 yards, so I shot for 35.
@@DialedinHunter thank you!
Well done epic self filming.
Thanks! Lots of rocks that were kind enough to hold my camera for me, haha
Oddly, I know about your book and follow you on IG, but totally didn't realize you have a YT channel with videos until you showed up on Brian Call's Gritty podcast. This is a good one. Thanks for putting the effort into making it! Solo hunting is hard enough. Filming it is next level!!
That's so cool to hear. Thanks for chiming in and thank you for the support on the other platforms and now here. Fun chat with Brian. Gosh, this was a cool hunt. Definitely difficult filming it solo, but so worth it in the end to look back on. Thanks for watching. 👊🏼
Congratulations dude!
Thanks Blake!
Very cool man. Congrats. Unfortunately, even if we "leave these wild places alone as they are" for future generations, I doubt they will remain the same. Climate change (just look at the horrible increase in wildfires worldwide), invasive species & human encroachment (we are about to reach 8 billion humans worldwide) would ensure they won't remain the same, sadly.
Thanks Manuel! Great hunt. I was referring to us making the decision to keep these wild places, not necessarily just leaving them alone. We've made too much impact at this point to not be involved in conserving them.
Awesome video man!
Thanks a bunch!
I’d love to know what cameras and gear you used; this is incredible that you did all of this by yourself with such high quality!!
Thank you!!! My main camera for thud was a Sony a7riii with a 24-70mm f 2.8 Lens. Wildlife was filmed with my phone and Ollin adapter through my 65mm spotter. Shot was filmed with a GoPro Hero 5.
@@DialedinHunter that’s awesome, thank you! What types of microphones did you use if you don’t mind?
@@willdaniels6767 So, I had one mic hooked up to the Sony. Basic shotgun mic from Rode.
@@DialedinHunter that’s awesome, makes me wanna get out there and start filming my stuff. Thanks!!
@@willdaniels6767 Of course. Good luck!
Nice! Loved this.
Glad to hear it. Thanks!
Congrats, Josh! Years of hard work and persistence paid off.
It sure did! Thanks!
Just got some cleaning birds after a dove hunt with my boy and was excited to see this. Great work. You encouraged me to pick up a bow last year, having never shot one, and I’m stoked to look for an adventure like this. Very nice film.
Tim! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. Stoked for you! The bow life is a good life!
This is an amazing film. I watch quite a lot of hunting content and I really like your outlook on things. I wish more outdoor media could focus more on humility. Pretty cool stuff, keep it up!
So stoked to hear that. Thanks for taking the time to watch the film and respond. Humility is healthy. 🙏🏼
Awesome video and buck man! Just got done with a 4 day hunt here in northern AZ. Doe busted me while I was about 100 yards from the buck I was after this morning but in the afternoon a fox damn near walked into my lap while I was glassing!
Nice!! Always exciting out there. You'll make it happen next time. Thanks for taking the time to watch the film!
Awsome video man!!!
Thanks!
Great job brother 👍🏼
Thanks! 👊🏼
This ll be my first season hunting with a bow, and really dig your channel. Thanks for putting in the work to capture a bit of the experience!
Thanks Jay! Man, that's awesome. Best of luck out there!
Congrats on success this year in Utah! I totally agree, time in the mountains, public land where ever it may be is precious.
Thanks dude! Good times!
👍👍. Sweet! Spot & stalk is the most rewarding way to bow hunt IMO. Congratulations!
There is nothing like it. Thanks Tim!
Nice job on the hunt! I was wondering where you were... finally found out at the end! I am heading up to Utah in a few weeks for an antlerless elk tag. Thanks for sharing your hunt!
Thanks John. Best of luck on your elk hunt!
WHAT a hunt brother!!! That’s some good ass hunting and that country is a part of both of us now, especially at the end there where you were able to just take in the whole view and amount of effort you’ve put in to make it happen to get to that REDEMPTION shot you deserve man! I love it and next time you swing by your ass ain’t hunting by yourself. 👊🏽
Haha! Thanks man. Sounds like a plan!
Awsome video man! As real as it gets solo. We have a similar hunting styles and views, and it doesn't get better than velvet muledeer. Great editing and music. This is the first video of yours I have seen and I like it. I'll be checking some more of your stuff out.
I appreciate that Jeff! Thanks for watching! Love these velvet bucks!
Awesome ride brother congrats hats off to you.Way to stick it out filming by yourself is hard but you got it done 🤝 Awesome god country keep posting stay positive sir .🦌🦌🍁🍂
Thanks buddy! Was a wild ride.

Thank you Kordell! Appreciate you taking the time to watch. 🙏🏼
Making it look EASY! Haha. Great work, Josh. Loved the film.
Haha! Sometimes it just happens! Thanks buddy. 👊🏼

Hey, thanks! Appreciate you watching the film. What a gnarly adventure it was. Take me back!! Haha.
Beautiful buck man! Nice job! And such a good video too. I love it when it all comes together just like you planned it! 2022 is off to a great start!
Thanks Skyler! I'm tickled with him!
Good job
👊🏼👊🏼
Takes will power to let down your shot when you have a deer in your sights. Good call and you still got a good shot in man.
Dude, it was one of those, "wait, he doesn't know I'm here. I've got time."
Great vid man. And couldn’t agree more, the mountains humble a person!
Glad I'm not alone, haha. Thanks Rick!
👍 🎯
👊🏼👊🏼
I have zero knowledge about hunting, just landed a new job that requires a quiet mind and great patience, stumbled across one of your blog article titled "Patience Kills", loved it! I just ordered "Becoming a Backpack Hunter" and will be reading more of your hunting blogs, hopefully to learn more about hunter's mindset and patience. Thanks Josh!
Dian! Thanks so much for that. Glad you liked that blog post and hope you like the book!
@@DialedinHunter Hi Josh, I enjoyed the book very much! Didn't realize there are So much work involved in hunting. Sorry for the dumb question, I am wondering, while you are waiting for the perfect time to execute your shot (I understand it could be hours), did it happen when your mind just wandering around and losing focus or even doze off? I guess my question is how do you mentally prepared for the long waiting? Thanks Josh!
Great content and editing Josh! What an opportunity. Way to keep it lethal and honorable, great of you to let down until you’re steady.
Thanks Wade. So glad I took the extra time on that!
What a great hunt and well put together video. I’ve been sitting on some Utah deer points, makes me want to get out there.
That's exciting! It's a great place with some unreal country. Thanks for the kind words and good luck out there!
Super sick!! Beautiful content beautiful Buck!
Thanks Justin! 👊🏼
The monologue at the end was powerful. Well said. Well done.
Thanks so much Joe. And thanks for watching. 👊🏼

Gosh, I so appreciate that Josh. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch it. And nice name 😎
@@DialedinHunter it is 😎 our parents made a good choice!
Awesome job on the video man! No matter how good of shape I’m in, I am humbled every time I come out of one those wild places. Were you able to get the meat and camp all out in one trip?
Thanks Rob. Humble pie is served on the regular in the mountains! Yes, boned out deer and camp in one load.
