  • This is a film that documents my 2023 archery mule deer season across two different states. Miles are hiked, arrows are flung, and a new perspective is born.

I really appreciate how vulnerable you are being and I’m sure there’s a temptation to not even bother with a video on a hunt that’s not successful but I think it is really important for people to see and respect how difficult it really is to be successful on these hunts. Excellent cinematography!

Thanks Ryan. Hunting has never and will never be just about killing for me. So much more happens. So much growth and rich experiences. Appreciate you taking the time to watch. 👊🏼

Another great film, Josh. I understand the soaking feeling on the left foot. Right foot, not so much. LOL
Thank you for delivering a different "perspective" in outdoor films for viewers not only to enjoy, but to connect with.

Not so dialed in this time😄, honestly I like the fact that you showed this hunt. I think so many people get a false impression that its easy because everyone is successful on the old youtube. I personally blew a shot on a big high country bull elk this fall, it was on day 19 of our hunt. That stung for awhile. Great video again, thanks for sharing

Hahahaha! There it is! For sure man. There's always a story and surely lessons. Sorry to hear about your bull! That's a grinder of days! Appreciate you watching the film man. Thanks. 👊🏼

Had a similar issue this year with getting stuck on a range in the moment... had my biggest buck opportunity in CA which was a nice 4x4, ranged him at 62 with him slowly walking slightly angled away from me, so i rolled my sight to 65 and pulled back to helpfully have him stop. It took him longer to stop than anticipated and i still shot for 65, my guess is he stopped at 70-72, i was about 3-4 inchs under and my shot broke clean... gonna come back stronger next year and learn from my mistakes this year. Im also going lighter arrow with a little higher lb draw weight. Ive been able to cut my pin gap by 45% and created a much more forgiving setup to miss ranging post season... hopefully it helps some next season. Thank you for the great content you share with us!

Awesome video Mr. So well done in all aspects. I did a few backpacking hunts, not solo though, years ago and they were always awesome. Those hunters that have never done this can’t appreciate how much work it is. Meat in the backpack or not they are great adventures. 👍👍

super video! probably one of the best I have seen in a long time, real life hunting challenges, real live hunting experiences and expectations on public land, well done!! If this video does not motivate the everyday archery hunter to be a better hunter, then they are wussies:) lol!! thx for sharing your adventure!

What a cool video Josh, and perfectly titled! If you bow hunt long enough, you will have days like those. No doubt they will make you even more skilled than you are now. And you're pretty darned skilled for sure! I just finished up a Coues deer hunt where I blew each stalk I made. But I was able to watch the biggest Coues buck I've ever seen. Even though I blew the stalk, that deer will make me a better hunter. It would be really cool to see him next month. Good luck on your Coues deer hunts in 2024!

Another classic. Great content and cinematography as always Josh. You'll always learn more from failure than success because it should teach you a lesson. I lived it this year on a tank. it hurt but the lessons and memories make the fire keep burning inside for the next time.

Kill shot never make a break a video for me. This content is so well done that I would have watched for hours. I leave in a week for a Arizona hunt and my main focus this coming trip is staying positive. I’m going to do what I love and should always remember that. Anyways great film Josh and thanks for the content.

Awesome video! I loved the office quote. Love how you just kept grinding and creating new opportunities instead of just giving up. It's tough when we miss shots but even tougher to turn them into a positive and become a better hunter for them. Great video!

@DialedinHunter that's not too heavy. I really enjoyed the video. You have a lot more patience then I. You sit and glass animals for a long time. If I see an elk, im going in fast, and on to the next. We spooked a herd and ran them down over a couple miles to get into shooting range. I enjoy watching other hunting styles and a great story!
