Absolute grind of a hunt. Anyone who watches this will see the great big circle of highs and lows that hunting can take a person on. The perseverance over so much time is inspiring to see! Great hunt and thanks for sharing
I just think its crazy how these relatively small channel pop out of seemingly nowhere with insanely high quality videos that are very entertaining. Keep it up and God bless from the Netherlands!
The things hunters do on public/private land amazes me and this is another reminder how one bad egg makes us all look bad. Glassing from the rifle scope, classic.
What's so horrible about glassing from the scope? What if you forgot your binos and need to see a long distance? Or your binos don't view as long as your rifle scope?
@@arlyborgus because if you use your scope to glass, you are intentionally pointing your rifle in a direction that may not be safe like other hunters and you don't realize that until you see them through the scope.
As my hunting days sunset, 73, the process has proven to be more of my hunting than the kill. I love Mule deer and Pronghorn hunting as much as anything associated with the woods. By the way, Stone Glacier makes the best gear I have ever found for cold weather. I Elk hunted in Montana in 2021 and happened to find this online store. Through ice and snow, this GA old guy never got cold. Now I have their new gloves! Good luck and have fun out there.
Hard earned mountain buck and a great film. I’ve watched this quite a few times since it came out and it always gets me pumped for the next season when the grind starts all over again.
You are the hardest working, most impressive deer hunter I have had the privilege to watch. To appreciate the deer and the challenge. Thanks for a great video.
What I really liked about your hunt was the dedication, and hours/days/months of study, scouting and prep! it truly showed the 'ups' and 'downs' of what a hunt can be, especially on public land. As I get friends and co-workers into hunting, this is what I tell them to expect, they call it hunting, not killing. Thank you for the time, energy and effort that you placed into this video to show us all the hard work and joy that can come from the success' and even the hardships.

As a fellow mainly prairie/breaks land mule deer hunter this video has got me itching to chase the elusive grey ghost in the mountains. Fantastic film Zach and team!
Congratulations on the buck, hard work pays off, maybe not the way you want it to but it does, this hunt embodies my elk season as well with 45 days on the mountain scouting out the perfect bull and watching 8 different encounters go south with a bow in hand, then happening across the elk seemingly by accident during the rifle season.
Not many films show the bad luck, mistakes, failures and frustration…or even the resolve to drive through. Excellent film from start to finish. Congrats Zach on the buck and a great film!
Living near there and getting to hunt those areas every year, finding a buck is half the battle, actually killing a target buck is the other half. The country is rugged enough that it just takes time, effort, and a little luck to kill one of those giants. Way to keep grinding, but you can lump yourself into a list of hundreds of other hunters that have had bucks killed out in front of them that they had previously scouted in that country. It's just how it is, you think you're doing everything right, then the buck is higher on the mountain, lower on the mountain, or some other hunter just stumble onto the hillside and gets a fleeting shot off at a surprised buck, kills him and blows his antler off in the process. Happens every year. Thanks for sharing your adventure and congrats on killing a buck in the end.
The way you took the time to develop the story was different from the other hunting shows I see. Felt like I was struggling with you and then ultimately getting a great buck. Thank you!
Great Video. Amazing that the aggressive move by the competition on the original buck worked. Goes to show sometimes you just have to swing for the homerun instead of waiting for the right pitch. Regardless, it's devastating and perseverance you showed is admirable. We all have already, or certainly will, experience something similar on public land.
Nice job, loved the whole story. I caught myself rewinding and listening to to things you said that are so spot-on and exactly how I have felt in the mountains.
'More character building'.... Literally had me laughing out loud. Great film, great hunt, great buck. Congrats. Please keep churning out the wonderful content SG Art Dept.
Great hunt and great film. Really cool that you were able to go back out and get it done solo. Never been much into mule deer but this film made me want to go on a mule deer hunt. Congrats Zack!
Now that was a hunting video. Great stuff. Great journey. It would be amazing to have video of the plan that took place and why you picked the ground you decided on. Looking to go on my first out of state mule deer hunt. Solo grand adventure but trying your process out on a new area can test your skill for sure. I was surprised that the buck was in the same area as I was told that they migrate down in elevation by the time rifle season comes along.
What a great film. I’ve experienced the same frustrations here in Colorado with people taking risky shots, or hearing the mentality at the trailhead “if it’s brown it’s down” is extremely frustrating people have that mindset. Or people who just disrespect the forests, and do not put in the weeks/months of work and happen to get lucky. But as your film showed, persistence, faith, determination paid off in the end.
Props on this one. Pretty sweet story and the scenery is out of this world it’s gotta be so fun just sitting there to relax let alone being on a hunt. Cool Vid!
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. As a muley junkie myself, I can relate to a lot of what you experienced on your hunt Zack. Nevertheless, fantastic hunt and congrats on a well earned buck!! Awesome work SG Art Dept. 👍👍
The amount of work to this whole season hunt! Amazing job! I would have given up on the videoing a short way through. Definitely seems it kept your determination to finish it. Great video!
What a roller coaster. I was doing some CEs and had this on as I clicked through, and I had to pause it and "scroll preview" because if you HADN'T got a buck, IDK if I'd have been able to finish watching the video.
Holy cow!! When you said "I hate buck hunting!"...you looked exactly like Elliot the buck on open season!! I didn't want to say anything but it is so cool!!!
Thanks for not worrying about the length of the film and adding the back story... Great film!
Glad you enjoyed the length of it! Zack was a little worried it might be a touch long.

I don’t think he shot the antler off, probably broke it off falling on those rocks

Phenomenal video. I live in this area and the country is as rugged as it gets. Will be a slow few years until it recovers from the last winter.
Loved the video and love y’all’s gear, but man I got really nervous seeing that shot with the younger buck behind it. Glad it worked out and congrats.
I couldn't agree more. Not the best way to take a shot and also glad it turned out for the best.
Almost killed two bucks
Hard earned mountain buck and a great film. I’ve watched this quite a few times since it came out and it always gets me pumped for the next season when the grind starts all over again.
Awesome production, really enjoyed watching it. Cool hunt ,well documented in an entertaining way. And a great deer !
