"I love how normal they are!" *Walter proceeds to pull out his handgun at a bowling alley.*
Same, that was good timing on her part.
I laughed so hard at that 🤣
"Walter proceeds to pull out his handgun at a bowling alley." - well, it IS the US
How about when she said about De Jesus "I bet he has an interesting story" right before Walter said he a was a pervert that exposed himself to little girls.
How else is someone supposed to enforce the rules in bowling?
This girl laughs and gets the jokes . Refreshing to see a reaction video where someone actually reacts.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man." -The Dude
Fun Fact: In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, John Goodman stated that The Dude referring to The Big Lebowski as a "human paraquat" was one of the only improvised lines to make it into the final film. Virtually every other line, including every "man" and "dude", was scripted.
Hey you did not give Walter his dues. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY 100% RIGHT ABOUT THE TOE!! 🤣
Love your video by the way.
“You want a toe? I can get you a toe?”
'they are just normal dudes having a normal conversation'
walter: reaches into bowling bag.
"All he wants is to chill and relax" yes, that...and his rug back 😆
It's just one of those movies that gets funnier the more times you watch it.
Absolutely true. One of the few movies where the more times I watch it the funnier it gets.
Funnier and pretty deep in some ways.
For me the greatest quality of this movie is the quotability. When this first came out, my friend group just couldn't stop trading quotes. I guess it's part great writing and part great acting. And to say it's a cult classic would be an understatement, there are like entire conventions and clubs and stuff built around this one movie.
There's also a whole layer of little easter eggs. When the Dude writes the check in the grocery store, the date is shown as 1991, during the first Gulf war. Then later Saddam Hussein shows up in his fever dream, and it connects to Walter's ramblings about drawing a line in the sand, and soldiers dying in the muck for freedoms. And the giant scissors that haunt him are first shown as a painting in the background when the dude meets Maude the first time. When they pick up Walter before the drop-off, he's standing in front of his business (Sobchak Security) which potentially explains why he's got an Uzi laying around. Just a bunch of little tidbits that make rewatching a joy.
Late to this but another weird little fact is that 1991 check he writes is dated 9/11.
My generation remembered whole pieces by "The Firesign Theatre".
13:59
Maude: The plot is ridiculous. You can imagine where it goes from here.
Dude: He fixes the cable?
This sarcastic one-liner of a quip by the Dude is one of millions of reasons why this movie is gold.
“Don’t be fatuous, Jeffrey!”
It's fitting that the quote "The Dude abides" comes at the very end, as abiding is what he's been doing throughout the whole movie.
Maude commenting on Bunny's porn tape, 'The story is ludicrous.'😆 One of a hundred lines in this film that make me laugh out loud no matter how many times I hear them.
"The Dude abides." I love this movie! One of the best stoner films out there! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊
It's really in a category by itself, the only stoner noir.
It's not a stoner movie at all wtf you talking about.. ??
I think that reducing this magnificient piece of cinema to just a "stoner film" does it a huge disservice. This isn't a film filled to the brim with lazy weed jokes and nothing else.
Less a stoner film and more a film about a stoner, if that makes sense
It's not a stoner comedy. It's a comedy with one stoner in it. There's a difference.
I think the blowing of Donnie's ashes into the Dude's beard is my favorite part of the movie, although it is filled with so many great ones.
"Normal people" Seconds later Walter pulls out gun at a bowling alley.
OVER THE LINE
It's down there somewhere, let me take another look 😂
Clearly you're not a golfer man 😂
Genius opening and it just keeps going all the way thru.
Your smile just added to the enjoyment of this wonderful movie.
UA-cam reaction moment of the day: "I love how normal they are." Ten seconds later he forces his opponent to alter his bowling score at gunpoint.
Seems pretty normal to me.
"I love how normal they are..." Er...may I introduce you to Walter...
He’s calmer than you are.
It's almost like a movie keeps trying to form around the dude, but he just isn't interested in it. I believe JamesvsCinema said something to that level. I enjoy your reactions you have such a great, fun, warm, and friendly personality, and your laugh is infectious!
Try to form your own thoughts. And stop simping.
@@justmeeagainn Okayyy.. IDEK what to tell you.. Maybe go film some more trains? I think you got a tough road ahead of you there guy.
Mark, a “movie trying to form” has been said many times. _yawn_
its a good life lesson, if you just dude your way through life, all these dramas around you just flow over you, you dont need to get involved just abide man
This is the Coens' homage to Raymond Chandler hard-boiled mysteries. The police chief throwing the mug is straight out of Chandler's The Long Goodbye.
The best thing about The Big Lombowski is that Walter has got bunny totally figured out.
Thanks for reacting to this one, maybe my favorite movie. Hard to pick a favorite scene but I would say after they spread Donny's ashes and Walter goes on a rant about Vietnam. The dude goes "What was that shit about Vietnam? What the fuck does anything have to do with Vietnam? WTF are you talking about?"
This movie is SO quotable. Glad you watched it.
& I can assure you that going out as 'The Dude' for Halloween is exceptionally comfortable. All the bartenders KNOW what you're drinking & Northern Illinois had VERY nice weather(50F & NOT raining lol) both years I did it. I even had a 'Walter' with me :^7
This one gets better the more times you watch, I think. :) it was fun seeing it again for the first time from your pov.
I have heard that Steve Buscemi’s character is a joke. It is a reference to his character in “Fargo” who talks constantly.
OMG Noxy!!! you finally got to see The Classic! :) so Happy for ya and Awesome Review!
When the bowling dream sequence is going on an he turns into the rotating ball going down the lane through the ladies legs the cast and crew we so close and had so much fun they pranked Bridges. The ladies though up the idea to not to shave and to go commando. For the first test run Bridges took a still camera and was told by them not to look until he was (looking) upright. He opened them and snapped a photo not knowing and everyone busted out laughing, it was a little cast "memento" in the scrapbook they made.
20:25 - The Woman in that scene wasn't Larry's Mom. I think she was the Housekeeper.
Walter’s plan was almost fool prove! ………”phone’s ringing dude” ……. “Thanks! Donny!”
Just found this channel and Ms Nox is SO cute!!! Adorable reactions. I will definitely be watching more.
Nice reaction to a brilliant movie✌️
The dude ramming that dumpster cracks me up every time also when he’s shoved into the limo he’s worried about spilling his beverage classic! Thanks again
The film is very weird, but it becomes far more enjoyable when you realize that the plot means NOTHING. It's essentially resolves itself regardless of The Dude's involvement. The whole hook to the movie is the humor stemming from these strange and quirky characters.
I like how Nox remarks about how "normal" the characters are...just before Walter pulls the gun on Smokey and threatens to shoot him over a bowling foul.
This isn’t Nam; there are rules.
It's not weird at all
But, it's a league game. The stakes are real.
it's not weird it's a cult movie
the dialogue is amazing and seriously is my favorite comedy movie
It's one of the most quotable movies everytime you rewatch it
"Ever thus to deadbeats, Lebowski."
"I think you can guess what happens next" The Dude: "he fixes the cable?" lol
One of my favorite roles for John Goodman.
“Home movies!!!” Lol
Some people do not get this film but I am glad you got the irreverence! Yes the dialogue is so authentic too, with a lot of overlapping dialogue and repetition! The main thing in this film to me is that nothing even matters. None of the plot points get resolved and the Dude (and Walter)does not learn anything from their experience!!Thank you for this reaction Knox!
Delightful commentary. Very entertaining. You're a treat. Thank you.
All the Dude wants is the rug!
Favorite bit is the dude dropping the joint in his lap then trying to put it out with a beer. Driving safety for the win!
"they found it lodged in an abutment..."
"oh, man lodged where?!"
never made the connection that mr leboswski was the same dude who played olsen johnson in blazing saddles ("hold it, men, he's not bluffing!") until i read his obituary.
1:30
“So we’re seeing the laziest man on the face of the earth or something, and something is going to happen to him where he has to really think about things and work through things. I’m excited to see his journey”
…Nah. The Dude abides.
When I saw you were cutting the F-bombs I thought, "this isn't going to last long, " and I was right. There are so many at some point you stop noticing them. Somebody made a UA-cam edit with JUST the F-bombs ! There's over 200 I think!
Haha insane!
A Big Lebowski Reaction. Always a pleasure.
apparently this was the coen bros homage to the noir LA detective novels of raymond chandler, where everyone is out of their element and nobody can keep track of all the characters. and walter is modeled on screenwriter/filmmaker john milius.
I really enjoyed watching that with you. Plenty of insights.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
Hi, my favorite part is when the Dude returns home and trips over the two by four that he nailed to the floor.
No...Words.. My UA-cam crush doing one of my fav all time flicks!!! Love the reaction!
If you like mundane conversations you'd probably love Clerks if you haven't seen it
4:40 "I love how normal they are...." umm yeah, about that. :)
“Are you employed, sir?”
Is this a weekday?
Your so genuine/real, your unreal dude.
Great reaction look forward to seeing the rest
Instant sub😘
*Is this your homework, Larry?*
The guy rocking the mustache is the same guy whose narration you were a fan of in the intro.
His name is Sam Elliott and he is famous for two things…his deep voice and his epic mustache.
I read a theory once that the film is itself is a mystery within a mystery. The conversation between The Dude and Walter is basically us as the audience trying to solve the mystery of the film: Who kidnapped Bunny? I think that's why the characters (Donnie, The Dude, and Walter) are written the way they are (As everyday people). That's why their conversations are so fluid and natural. They themselves are the audience and participants of the movie/mystery we are watching.
Look, even if you're poor, a simple rug can really tie the room together.
"...and something is gonna happen to him where he really has to think about things and work through things."
lol... lmao
This movie is just like a fine wine 🍷
What a sweet reaction to my fav movie. I love how quickly you have picked up the conception gymnastics 😅 Keep it up 🤙🏼
My fav part is Chinaman rant at the beginning, totally sets the mood 💯
This shows a big difference between male and female reactors: Dude's got a ferret in the bathtub with him that's trying to tear out his gonads and she says "poor ferret!" 😁
The Dude is the only main character in a movie who doesn't want to be in the movie at all. He just wants to chill at home and bowl with his friends.
This is my favorite movie of all time.. of all time.. subbing to the channel after this
5:12 Of course it's that serious, Nox. It's a league game! XD
This is a great entry into the Coen Bros. filmography. They are amazing filmmakers and aren’t afraid to tell stories the way they want.
Lebowski also played Santa In ‘Santa Claus’ (1985)
I first made a comment that I felt made me sound like a total mansplainer, because you already knew what I was commenting, lol. So I'm starting over and saying this instead: I always love watching your reactions, and this has been one of my all-time favorite movies for a long time, so I was stoked to see you react to it, and even more stoked that you loved it! Keep up the great work 🖖
DONNIE YOURE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT!!!
Great reaction! Here are some good suggestions for this holiday season: The Adventures of Tin Tin (2010), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Iron Man 3 (2013), Die Hard (1988), Die Hard 2 (1990), and Munich (2013).
LA Confidential
20:23 - that woman wasn't Larry's mom. I think she was the housekeeper
if you like these kinda normal people movies, try
Chaos Theory, In Bruges, Manchester by the Sea, Unforgiven...
Walter was right more often than not. At least he was right about pretty much everything connected to the kidnapping. Right about the toe, the fact that Bunny kidnapped herself and that she would "get tired of her little game and eventually just wander back".
Love this film! 🤣👌🏼
But i'm really curious if you've seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)?! 🥰
It's the ultimate 'you'll love it or you'll hate it' movie, but i think you'll appreciate it too, especially when you like weird, random, unexpected and definitely not predictable movies, so i really hope you haven't seen it yet! 🤞🏻✌🏼
This movie is so full of red herrings it's like a friggin fish farm
That Sam Elliot though... giving me the vapors!
"The Hudsucker Proxy" is another great Coen bros movie.
The Big Lebowski is a spiritual movie
Great Reaction, your have a great vibe about you. The Rastafarians costume worn by Dan Akroyd was inappropriate but do to the time of the 70s and it was done on SNL which Akroyd and Murphy both appeared it was deemed appropriate. Similar to Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles where Richard Pryor was in on the script. Shock value in a comedy. (Pryor was originally pegged to play the sheriff in Blazing Saddles) This pairing in this movie worked well with a great surrounding cast. You have a great channel, keep it going. 😊
Funny how Walter is actually right almost throughout the entire film
How so? He gets the kidnap theory from the dude. He wasn't right about nazis, Larry, the car, the spinal case. It's hard to find anything he was right about.
@@Hexon66what about the toe, man?
jeez, how many times did the dude get knocked out in the movie/ i counted 5-But you know, "Some days ya eat the bear', and other days the bear eats you." I loved it when Walter pulled Lebowski Sr. outta that wheelchair...mean old bastard deserved it.
Being John Malkovich !!!! Another Dark comedy. Strange premise but really good
28:55 The point of no return. Goddam amateur pirates still want the money but they've got no fucking clue.
You've been such a wonderful host through a rewatch of one of the funniest shit. Thank you.
Funny that you thought there was going to be some journey of self discovery or something 😆
Haha yeah I forgot that most of their characters never learn anything from their mistakes 😅
One of my favorite movies of all time 😂😂😂
I have a box set came with movie, coffee cup, bunnies toe (i made into keychain), and a little achievers award
One of those quirky films for sure. Takes a few times to kinda get the nuisance of it but it's part of the coen brothers theme. Anyways, looking forward to more of your reactions, love that smile of yours too!
The predecessors to this are The Long Goodbye, and The Big Sleep.
5:01 To answer your question, it was a LEAGUE GAME!
So he did not think about things and I can't say he really learned how to get through things.
Die Hard is a great movie to watch during December
Another great Cohen brother's movie is "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" GREAT and funny movie! I think you'll like it, and the great sound track as well! Hope you do a reaction to that movie!
Goodman should've gotten an Oscar for this movie 😂👍
I highly recommend the Cohen brothers movie Miller's crossing ( several of the same cast ) prohibition era gangster movie. Incredible dialogue. And plot . Irish/Italian mob .
this movie is such an enigma. i saw it in theaters when it first came out, and i didn't really care for it. but watched it again a few years later and laughed hysterically. of course now its one of my favorites, but i can't explain why i didn't like it at first
The movie seems to be a grower for most people, even it’s most devoted fans.
LIKED YOUR REACTION very much you seemed to enjoy it as much as me first time I saw it , "But like that's just my opinion man "😅😊.
"He's gonna have to think about things and go through things".
Wrong movie.
“You want a toe, I can get you a toe.”
I love how you just sort of gave up on bleeping the F word. This movie may have broken records with its use of that word! LOL!
"The fuck you talkin' about?" 🤠
This isn’t Vietnam, this is bowling, there are rules
"Millenials vs Boomers"... The Dude is the quintessential (and actual) boomer who never left the 60s.
