They were all good but Chains were simply THE BEST.They were the KINGS of all the Seattle bands during that time era -by far! No diss at all to Nirvana - Pearl Jam.They were great but they seemed to get all the glory and recognition when Chains shoulda had it.Layne Staley was one in a trillion and was in a class of his own.I believe that Andy Wood of Mother Love Bone and his band were closer than anyone to being anywhere CLOSE to the talent of Chains. Love Bone were a mega talented band.Andy was a awesome songwriter and singer.I always wondered if He and Layne were friends. They were both the best in my book. Its sad they died way too soon.
Totally agreed my friend. Well said. Sad but true. But Damm people will have really missed out eh ? So glad I didn't. The 70's gave me Zepp 2 and now we have this 90's grunge that can't b beat with the voice controls of today's rock variations. Layne was a one of a kind. He will always be remember by me that way to. Miss that fuk everyday.
I sit here, and think to myself "It will never be this good again". So lucky to been young during the hey day of this. Just blows my mind how they just came in, and blew the roof off music. Long live AIC!
I was a child of the 60s and 70s,got so fucked up I missed the 90s,now I'm catching up,really dig AiC and Chris Cornell, can't believe I outlived them.Been sober now for 16 mos.First time in 40yrs.I am truly blessed.
I was 21 in 1990 Holy shit was it a great decade to be young this music just blew us up and out I still listen every day very grateful to have seen these bands live, nothing beats AIC and Soundgarden 2 of the greatest front men to pick up a mic
I was lucky to see AIC on this tour with Megadeth.... my fucking god Laynes voice was the most flawless at just a whisper and at full volume. I only can imagine if he were alive today what AIC would have done.... Once in a lifetime a voice is born and sad to say its truly missed.
That's a raw piece of rock straight in your head. I love this kind of setting for a band. Bass, drum, and only one guitar doing rythm and solos plus a proper singer! It works so well. (Pantera, RATM etc...)
NO AUTOTUNE, NO VOCAL TRAINING, PURE EPICNESS! DEFINITLY sure Ain't Like That Anymore. In my mind...not forgotten...& NEVER WILL. Die heard Chainhead since 1990'!
This just solidifies that the Seattle scene/grunge era is one of the best, if not the best era in rock music. The 90s reaffirmed my love for music. Waiting for something like this to come along again........
Jerry's gotta be the best friggin guitarist ever! couldn't get that riff out of my head all week😍 it's pure eargasmic. gosh. I love this band. RIP Layne and Mike S.
That guitar work is genius, I believe that Jerry will be recognized in the future hopefully soon since Slash received appreciation I think he will be next!
My absolute favorite live concert of AIC. They rocked it the fuck out. Layne the world lost an awesome soul, and it sure as hell "ain't like that anymore".
This is the greatest band ever!!! To bad Layne was short-lived cause these guys are still making great music but it will NEVER be the same without Layne!!!
Pozdrav iz Hrvatske ;) jedan sam od najvećih Layne fanova. Ovo mi zvoni na mobu onaj mračniji dio pjesme i mogu reći da je Layne najbolji vokal koji je ikad živio i koji će živjeti ;)
I was 13 when this came out and it still is just as awesome now. Layne is probably the one and only singer I've ever truly been sad passed. I always wanted to see him live. I'll never forget the day he died, His poor poor mama finding him. Still breaks my heart.
What a song and especially...What a VOICE...Layne Staley...hundreds of singers try and tried to imitate..but there is only one Layne......UNFORGETTABLE...i love him
It really is unbelievable that they were able to perform live at this quality.... it is as good or better than the recorded version! It shows you just how talented they were.
For Make A Wish foundation how cool is that, I have this song playing in my head at 4:00 am so now I have to listen to it, cant sleep, damn I love this song.
The fact that people still care to debate who was better just proves how great both bands are. The fact that people are still listening to the music now speaks of how long lasting their impact and the depth of admiration, love and respect the fans have for the music. Be a lover not a hater.
This song is super crazy, I love it! Never though that a grundge group would ever captivate my music ear like this one does. Hip-hop fan at heart, but these guys are crazy.
and nobody honors the awesome work of jerry, who wrote this and the whole groove of the gloomy, morphing and distinct sound of aic. youre such a goddamn genius jerry
now kids this is music at it finest pure fucking talent as long as this planet turns you will never hear or see a band at this level of talent so enjoy it
wow....brings back memories....I sat in the nosebleeds for this show...just awesome.....only $5 and you got Mookie Blaylock (Pearl Jam) opening and Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron in the middle doing Temple of the Dog songs with them...........unforgettable!
His Them bones "AAAAH" is also classified as undefeated. This coming from an extreme metal fan, I long for the days when metal singers could actually sing.....these day's people scream and grunt on punk to hip hop beats , it's getting old. Cheers to Layne.
Maurizio Bignardi -ITALY-Alice in chains.best performed live in Milano,Layne Stanley, best lead vocal. Jerry Cantrell great guitar, and many people think ,why Layne is dead ?Was the best band live that italian boys have watch..
UnclePeppi.. u r entirely correct. thats y i say that Layne is the greatest singer in metal/grunge/rock all headbangable musics history. he is THE greatest of all of them. some can come close, but never be as good as him. R.I.P. Layne... we miss you!
The vocals on this song just kicked my ears' asses and then bought them dinner at a five-star restaurant. That's Layne Staley, though -- the guy could blow up a small country with the power of his voice. Awesome tune!
Damn. That sounded just as good as the track on the album. Layne Staley could really sing - dude actually had some soul to him. Just as much credit to Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, and of course Mike Starr on to Mike Inez...Layne's voice was irreplaceable, but he wouldn't have been the same without such a roaring band behind him. Such an amazing sound they had!
What a voice
What a song
What a band
What a comment
there isn't another band from Seattle that comes close to being this good.
None....They are the Best...well with Layne that is...
True. Layne is in my top three fav singers all time
soundgarden comes close though,
and by the way, don't forget the other bands layne was part of like: mad season and class of '99
They were all good but Chains were simply THE BEST.They were the KINGS of all the Seattle bands during that time era -by far! You my good Sir are totally correct in your statement ...
They had the grooviest , sluggish riffs of the 90's. & still to this day.
I might have to change that
fail
And the sexiest singer....
So simple but to this day haven't been beaten
Crowbar ?
Out of all Seattle vocalist Layne's voice is #1 in my book, hands down. What a voice!😎🎤
I still get goosebumps when I hear Layne's voice the same way as when I started hearing AIC many moons ago! Ageless and timeless!!!
SO DO I!
Never in any kids of the 2000 will ever have someone like Layne Staley or Alice in Chains. Never. 70's to late 90's is the best era of Rock music.
+sevenelly *Layne.
sevenelly I'm so jealous of people who were alive to witness that era
i wish i was born in 1980 honestly. i really hate my generation and my graduating class, class of 2020
Totally agreed my friend. Well said. Sad but true. But Damm people will have really missed out eh ? So glad I didn't. The 70's gave me Zepp 2 and now we have this 90's grunge that can't b beat with the voice controls of today's rock variations. Layne was a one of a kind. He will always be remember by me that way to. AIC..STP..SG..PJ..Nirvana..fun days live
That crowd Was so lucky.... RIP LAYNE AND MIKE
It ain't like that anymore :-(
Exactly :'(
I sit here, and think to myself "It will never be this good again". So lucky to been young during the hey day of this. Just blows my mind how they just came in, and blew the roof off music. Long live AIC!
i was born on Mar 5, 2002, exactly a month before Layne died. you're lucky
The 90s era was certainly an amazing one to be young and free. So much amazing music.
I was a child of the 60s and 70s,got so fucked up I missed the 90s,now I'm catching up,really dig AiC and Chris Cornell, can't believe I outlived them.Been sober now for 16 mos.First time in 40yrs.I am truly blessed.

I would upvote this comment, but you're on 69.. So I will just say: "Nice", AIC and Layne live forever as long as we're here
he always sounded perfect live..not many people have talent like that :(
Damn straight.
I was lucky to see AIC on this tour with Megadeth.... my fucking god Laynes voice was the most flawless at just a whisper and at full volume. I only can imagine if he were alive today what AIC would have done.... Once in a lifetime a voice is born and sad to say its truly missed.
Sooo grateful, I seen AIC live when Layne was healthy!. That man had Charisma on stage!!!. 😍
That's a raw piece of rock straight in your head. I love this kind of setting for a band. Bass, drum, and only one guitar doing rythm and solos plus a proper singer! It works so well. (Pantera, RATM etc...)
So GOOD to see Layne living life and performing at top of his game. Bless his heart......
I am 67 years young and still rocking it....
I love this band.
the "it aint like that anymore" harmony is so sick
Dreadlocked Layne is the coolest Layne.
No everything about him was the coolest
Fuck ya ... your right. He's definitely not in the grips yet ya know... you can just tell by his energy...he' was at a pinnacle in life..
He was cool even wearing a Pebbles Flintstone do and lipstick. Epic!
Great comment! He was HAPPY at this point in time also. 🤘🏼❤️
omg....that voice.
+casandra king those "voices" xD
NO AUTOTUNE, NO VOCAL TRAINING, PURE EPICNESS! DEFINITLY sure Ain't Like That Anymore. In my mind...not forgotten...& NEVER WILL. Die heard Chainhead since 1990'!

Jerry's gotta be the best friggin guitarist ever! couldn't get that riff out of my head all week😍 it's pure eargasmic. gosh. I love this band. RIP Layne and Mike S.
that riff is so damn sexy
cee Wee Thank GOD I'm not the only one!!! That's a huge eargasm right there. I love it😍😆😂
roflmao girrrrl between that and his voice..umm I need a glass of water

i think Layne is the best singer of all time but Dimebag was the best guitarist, imagine if they had formed a band fuck me
I love Alice in Chains ❤️🤘🎸 Amazing!!! RIP Layne Staley and Mike Starr 😇😇❤️❤️🌹🌹
this is when a band played from the soul
This is one of the most underrated songs from AIC ever. One of my personal favorites.
Greetings from Finland
those vocal chords should be in the hall of fame.
Its definitely not like that anymore.
:( I miss..
Indeed.
That guitar work is genius, I believe that Jerry will be recognized in the future hopefully soon since Slash received appreciation I think he will be next!
my favorite band, yes, my favorite, since day one when they first came out, i like the whole catalogue!
You can't help but swish imaginary dreadlocks to this song - catchy!
My absolute favorite live concert of AIC. They rocked it the fuck out. Layne the world lost an awesome soul, and it sure as hell "ain't like that anymore".
Sitting here on February 16, 2021 still listening to this. This is true music....
Layne...so freaking awesome! The voice..the hair..the presence...so awesome.
This is the greatest band ever!!! To bad Layne was short-lived cause these guys are still making great music but it will NEVER be the same without Layne!!!
Jeremy Lee Honestly, not that many people deny AIC is a metal band.
Layne is amazing in this performance. No one can touch him
What a performance. That first "It ain't like that anymore" sent chills down my spine, insane voice.
layne ain't dead, god just wanted to hear him sing!
The BEST of the 90's...........
I get goosebumps whenever I hear that "Yeah!" at the very beginning.
layne´s voice is amazing.
I lived, breathed, and experienced this. Thank you AIC and especially Layne; my mind was blown then and still is today.
The best band from Seatle
ALSO SOUNDGARDEN, AND CANDLEBOX
"Here I sit, writing on the paper, trying to think of words you can ignore"
One of the best bands ever.
Pozdrav iz Hrvatske ;) jedan sam od najvećih Layne fanova. Ovo mi zvoni na mobu onaj mračniji dio pjesme i mogu reći da je Layne najbolji vokal koji je ikad živio i koji će živjeti ;)

Greazy as hell. Man I miss the 90's!
Gosh I miss Layne!!! That voice... RIP my brother.
The fact that people still care to debate who was better just proves how great both bands are. The fact that people are still listening to the music now speaks of how long lasting their impact and the depth of admiration, love and respect the fans have for the music. Be a lover not a hater.

The best and sexiest band
young strong layne! YEA!!!!

The greatest vocalist to have ever lived
There is a much deeper meaning inside the lyrics if you listen to them...."here I sit writing on the paper trying to write words you cannot ignore"
This song is super crazy, I love it! Never though that a grundge group would ever captivate my music ear like this one does. Hip-hop fan at heart, but these guys are crazy.
That coat should be in the rock n roll hall of fame./
Yep, he was the most awesome frontman! What's the saying?? ------> "I got pregnant just watching that". That's the one.
Love this song and it's so sad Layne is gone!! I loved the uniqueness of his voice!!!
Simply amazing live performance, AIC, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Pumpkins, STP, Tool, RATM...what an era of music there.
i love the original but this song just sounds better when its played live for some reason.
and nobody honors the awesome work of jerry, who wrote this and the whole groove of the gloomy, morphing and distinct sound of aic.
youre such a goddamn genius jerry
Greatest lead singer and best front man of all time
Layne was one of the only lead singers who's voice may have actually sounded better live than on the recordings. So much soul and power. RIP
Goddamn Layne had such a great voice. Rest In Paradise man.

Strz3lu forever in the heart ♥️ 🤝⋯⋯
Layne forever will be in our hearts!
Best song I've ever heard. I miss you so much, LTS.
hard to believe this is a live performance...the sound is amazing...great musicians.
RIP Mike! You are now with your best friend and will never be forgotten down here. Say hello to heaven.
I like how Layne technically doesn't head bang...instead shakes his head side to side...did it his whole career...even when he had short hair
His Them bones "AAAAH" is also classified as undefeated.
This coming from an extreme metal fan, I long for the days when metal singers could actually sing.....these day's people scream and grunt on punk to hip hop beats , it's getting old.
Cheers to Layne.
This song kicks ass. The riff at the beginning, the solo, and Layne always delivered on the power.
My favorite Alice in Chains song...RIP Mike Starr
Maurizio Bignardi -ITALY-Alice in chains.best performed live in Milano,Layne Stanley, best lead vocal. Jerry Cantrell great guitar, and many people think ,why Layne is dead ?Was the best band live that italian boys have watch..
Jerry Cantrell is the best riff master in rock music history. Hands down

Even better than studio version. Layne "YEAH"s even more powerful too.
Fact: This is the sexiest AIC song.

They were AMAZING live, WOW
"Who are they?"
..Alice."Who are They"?!...Alice!
Yeah! (HEAD BANG)
amazing harmony for a live performance, usually studio stuff. I like seeing layne looking pretty healthy, even though he was strung out.
Love the first " YEAHHH" to start it off!!!!
Can't stop listening. Layne delivers here! What a voice!!!
