You have chosen a short-term parasocial relationship model, not a real person, but a persona created by a group of people, although it is correct to call it a choice, at the end of the day, that's all.
Really important topic to discuss. I think K-pop fan culture is a unique and special thing as long as it remains within certain boundaries, and as long as the fans themselves can have a happy and healthy life (and relationships) outside of their interest/passion for K-pop. Like everything in life, it’s all about finding a healthy balance. Thank you for this video. 🙏
I became an exol last year... I can't wait for all the members to complete their military enlistment. I thought they were a 9-member group until I dug I little deeper and found out what exo and exol have been through. I will wait for them and will always support them...
TVXQ was THE craze of Korea back in the day (even nowadays they and the former members) are like the standard of idols. One of them turned out to have accusations of SA/R toward multiple prostitutes. He was acquitted in court. It was a mess and it broke the heart of fans and it totally shocked Korea. I was a fan of the group, I no longer am a fan since the group splitted in 2009, my bias was (and still is) Xia Junsu, I'm already 34 and I've been a fan of Junsu since I was 17. I'm very proud of my boy(man)
its fun and relieving to see in the comments that people actually do grow out of the kpop craze! quicker than i anticipated but also ive never anticipated that
I agre with what you said. It's just true. But kpop taught me one thing. Stand for what you like. I found kpop like in my 12 years and I had big problem that everyone is like ewwww, you like this? My childhood celebrity crush was Natalie Portman and now she owns the rival soccer team to the one that I write about. Which, compared to what some others around here have, is pretty great.
I think when you are going to make a video focusing on certain idols and groups, you should maybe do more research. I myself am not very well informed about the Kris Wu situation, but for Big Bang you left out the biggest reason why they had so much controversy: Seungri didn't just commit tax evasion, he was involved with the Burning Sun, a huge prostitution ring. While it's not clear what he did, THAT was the biggest reason for Big Bangs downfall
you making up so many false accusation against seungri just shows that you dont care one bit about real victims of actual cases, no prostitution ring exists in his case, he was not involved with burning suns case one bit nor was that club accused for anything related to prostitution either, the biggest reason for bigbangs downfall are dsgsting haters like you.
Thank you for speaking up about this and i’m an army 💜, supporting the boys as they finish their military service 🙏🏻. Also I notice the members are defending themselves more from fans who cross over their boundaries and try to baby them. I’m glad because they are grown men and not perfect.

As a loyal V.I.P i'mma always love BIGBANG (WITHOUT seungri, never loved him since 2007 even, i just knew he was something negative and my gut feelings were right) Gdragon was the one who influenced me the most. He is a lyric genius, hardworking, and paved the way with his Talent and hardwork. Not just some nepo kid, or with looks etc. G-dragon is my only hope who would i guess revive the k-pop
It's tough being a person of colour and being into kpop. You know their society can be pretty racist to people and is generally pretty conservative. It felt like every dollar or view I gave to kpop it was supporting that as well and the system that makes idols that can be abusive.
I'm saying this as a victim of sexual harrasment myself. For me, the issue of sexual abuse and harassment matters the most cuz I have been through it. And it gives the worst pain both physical and mentally, it also very hard to overcome the suffering that we have to go in the process. I don't think in my opinion that the victims of SA get enough justice and it's really tiring. These young girl fans actually don't understand what a SA victim goes through in reality. Also, the fact that they literally drugged and abused those girls while they're not conscious shows a very predatory behaviour and all of those girls were "MINORS". I could also get the fact that these predators want to manipulate the girls. We all know that minors are easily manipulated that's why the laws are being better and keep us safe. Also a lot of SA reports are not informed due to misconduct. Also asian countries, are not a good place for a better for a woman where crimes against women are that much common.
My crush hasn’t changed for 4 years, live laugh love ENHYPEN😭 thankfully they’ve been doing great, since they’re really popular right now and won’t mess up their fame. HYBE has messed up a lot of their groups, but nobody actually talks about it- not really ruining? More of focusing on only their successful groups and not promoting their other not so popular groups that have such potential- like, Fromis_9 for example? But thankfully ENHYPEN are doing good, because if they somehow do mess up. It would be really hard to part with them personally😭

Hello Stay! I hope they will have somewhat normal lifes (they can be gay) with family and kids, because the industry is scary/screwed up and most artists just lose themselves.
My real reason is that the quarantine ended and im not a teen anymore lol But still sometimes, thinking about kpop makes me excited and happy, eventho im no longer stanning
So once upon a time my kid discovered k-pop, while her friend discovered One Direction. The fans of One Direction were so thrilled when two of the boys moved with their girlfriends at the time, and the youngest fans were already thinking excitedly about the future babies of the two couples. Meanwhile, the k-pop fans... Where an idol just being seen next to someone from the opposite gender counted as "scandal"...
In the case of T.O.P., the weed smoking happened before his military service, but the accusation emerged while he was in the militarily. And the toll it took on him was insane. GD's drug use allegations in 2023 was a case of police overreach, in the same case that drove Lee Sun-kyun to suicide. The Still Life comeback has a perfect all-kill despite having zero promotions (and the fact that the members probably never even saw each other while recording). In hindsight, it feels pretty much like a goodbye song. And Seungri's "scandal" reduced to a tax evasion case, with no mention of his connections to the Burning Sun trafficking accusation? or even his friendship with the Kakao chatroom group? There is a lot of context missing in this video that a tiny bit of research would have provided. "I'm not diving too much into this" is the perfect description. I understand the point Zoe was trying to make but the oversimplification and lack of research detracts from it. To wash off the annoyance from this video I'm gonna go watch Daesung's new music video. P.S.... was this whole "idol" video just an excuse to match the content to the sponsor?
Have you actually done the research, though? I'm guessing you haven't. Most people don't actually know the ins and outs of the scandal, so it's good it didn't come up. I believed what everyone else believed until I took a deep dive myself. There was no evidence there was any trafficking at burning sun, but the cops had to satisfy the public and charge the most recognizable of the club owners with something. Turns out though that no judge would sign a warrant for his arrest for trafficking because there was barely any evidence, so sending it to trial would be a waste of the court's time. However, the military court took up charges for lesser crimes, even though there was little evidence for those, as well (they're a notoriously unfair court, but that's a whole other paragraph). It should be obvious by now with the GD and LSK drug investigation that the SK police and justice system bring famous people into an investigation because it improves their precinct's reputation, and once they're brought in, they need to satisfy the public with a show of justice. That's exactly what happened with burning sun. This info is out there and easy to find. There's a SK lawyer on youtube somewhere who breaks it all down.
@@caitthecat Exactly, Seungri was being investigated extremely thoroughly for AGES. It's just weird that the court would drag on the investigations for a particular individual this long even after the actual cases he was supposedly involved in closed too, they just kept trying to get something out of him. There has been plenty of instances when the justice system in Korea has been sketchy as heck, just look at the Lee Sun-Kyun case. This system seems like it goes with what the public is accusing rather than with actual proof, which is literally killing their celebrities off. Public's like; okay, now this celebrity is cancelled, for whatever reason, and the justice system will literally not rest until they actually find something against them. It's insane if you think about it, it's like society is basically deciding the fate of these celebrities because a mass majority hates them.
police already said that seungri doesnt have anything to do with burning sun and the guys from the molka gc was friends with half the industry, even so jjy have said that he hasnt been incontact w him for years.
Yeah, right, there was no trafficking, just girls were drugged and r*ped while being unconscious. And VIP-clients of this club were rich and powerful asian men: businessmen, celebrities, government and police workers. Of course Seungri was "poor innocent man", that didn't know what was happening under the roof of HIS club, and his powerful friends didn't help him cover all that shit
I do love Kpop still. I become a Kpopper in 2008. What I love about kpop is not the fans nor people like you. What I love about kpop is the superior quality music videos and heavenly aesthetics' standard and also awesome dances.

as a brazilian, my childhood crush was a singer called luan santana. I got to meet him in person and he was super nice, but I can tell you that it was also an awkward experience. Like, I knew he didn't know me, but I've been his fan since I was 5 and he was seeing my face for the first time. It got me really reflective. I heard from my cousin and mom (because I no longer use social media) that he is now married and having his first kid with his long-term girlfriend, which is great, but I am not obsessed with his life anymore. And my kpop crush was and still is Baekhyun from EXO, but now I don't feel the need to know what he is doing and I'm okay with just listening to his music and sometimes watching a video or two. My other kpop crush, Moonbin, is not on earth anymore, so I can no longer know anything about him, but I appreciate the songs he made and the joy he gave me for years. And that's it.
I still like EXO but I'm not in love with them anymore. Honestly, it made me admire them even more but not as husband material but as artists, the group is so talented, they have good music, their stage presence is awesome and the vocals, bro. I'm so happy that I can enjoy their music and their performances without the jealousy and other toxic stuff. I have my own life, they have their own life, my bias was (is?) Chen and when I found out he got married and has a little kid (now two) I was honestly so happy. Well we are all here for the same MUSIC, and it should stay like that.
Please he was a drug addict and Seungri was very close with all big bang members and knew them for more then 10 years before the burning sun scandal came out. So you would be a fool if you think that the other big bang members had nothing to do with the scandal or did not even know about it when many bigger names such as politicians and higher ups in the Korean judicial system were a part of it.

As a boy group stan, one of, no MY BIGGEST FEAR is.... What if one of the idols I like is like Kris Wu or those people in the Burning Sun case? Like we'd never know. Like I'm pretty much sure that a lot of the idols/big groups are actually genuine and actually are good people. But like what happened to the fans of BigBang and EXO, we would never know because they would be acting like angels in front of the camera. Honestly, this scares me more than death. 😰
GD was my favorite member of Big Bang, I still get his solo music stuck in my head randomly sometimes. I loved Taemin of SHINee for a long ass time, I think that group was as close as i got to obsession, i can't even listen to their music after what happened to Jonghyun, it affected me that badly even though he wasn't my favorite member-- I even stopped listening to k pop for YEARS because of what happened to him and i'm still angry at how they treat their idols. but honestly i'm not hugely obsessed with any of these groups, especially now, i know a few songs and thats it, i dont really get obsessing to that level with real people as a rule... in the words of Xie Lian from heavenly officials blessing "be careful you don't believe in anyone too much... perfectly crafted illusions often shatter" people make mistakes, i dont expect anyone to be flawless, and thus, i consider most of them pretty eye candy and dont go deeper. literally Jonhyun's death affected me so badly that i broke down and cried when i turned 28 because i was a year older than he ever got to be, and it hurt to think about, he was so young, he didnt deserve that -honestly tearing up thinking about it- RIP Jonghyun.

Army here, been one for about 8 years now, and its definitely changed. I still support them just as much, go around as many concerts as I can. I think their enlistment has definitely bought a new vision to the famdom.
Your so right after their enlistment i started thinking more practically and not just loving and supporting them blindly snd setting boundaries because the more u involve the more stress it causes to u
I'm speechless! You did got killer price on those outfits. When I first heard about Kris wu I can't decide whether to delete his songs from my playlist or not.

I became a V.I.P around late 2007 And trust me, i always got negetive vibes from only 1 member that was Seungri. Even the rest of the members " G-dragon/taeyang/top/daesung " dropped hints about senugri and his problematic friends. They knew seungri was in fault. So i never stanned or even appreciated his singing skills in any songs fr. The rest members really wanted seungri to leave the negetivity and focus on his career. But seungri never understood the members' concern. And later, he fuked up BIGBANG WAS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL K-POP GROUP TO EVER EXIST IN THE K-POP INDUSTRY TILL NOW. its my genuine request to not make an opinion about the other BIGBANG members just because of a rotten piece in the band.
omg yeah, we were making fun of him all the time and it's about how weird he is with women. I was not surprised when I first heard the news. He really looked like someone who would have such a character, really. I'm surprised at the people who support him.
Exactly my point I became a BB fan last year so it was easy for me to ignore seungri I really don't care how much if he is involved but one thing is sure he was not at all innocent and it was so evident if we watch their old interviews every member was concerned and they were so sure he would do something like that they tried to warn him many times but that man choose to be greedy and ruined everything he really owes a big fat apology to the grp members. And some ppl just declare the whole grp as criminals, and discredit the grp's success which is not at all fair, you just can't blame the innocent ppl who has nothing to do with the case
@@JackieSailo-t4w Going around trying to convince people they don't know what they're talking about when they clearly do is peak fan obsessed lowlife behaviour.
When I was a schoolgirl, I started to listen EXO and Kris. When I was in 6-8 grade (I can't exactly remember), I liked him really really much. But closer to 2020-2021 I stopped listening to their music, and Kris became just a faceclaim for one of my original characters.
I wanted to marry Howie from the Backstreet Boys and felt miserable when he announced he had a marriage on the way back then. Nowadays I feel so happy for him and his group for being who they are and still be doing what they love!
I’m just too old (96) to enjoy 4th gen and later (an influx of 2000s babies), I feel the age gap and a lot of the music is not my taste (there’s a couple songs I like but not many). The industry also feels like it’s being forced down our throats at this point, it takes weeks for me to get rid of unwanted/unsubscribed kpop content if I happen to see a single short. Companies are also making channels and spamming viewers with ads, as opposed to skits/organic content from idols/groups like The Rose. They’re also pushing idols to the forefront of media attention before they’ve had ample performing experience or training; causing extreme backlash and criticism against very young people or minors. They’re setting them up to have short careers imo.
I don’t know what happened to Super Junior or Shinee. Are they still making music? It is good that TOP and G-dragon are doing well, I am happy for them and TOP is my bias too.
SuJu kinda stopped making music as a group, but didn't disband. The members are still active in the industry. And SHINee is doing great, still producing music every year, even during military service they were strong on solos. 🥰 Depending on when you stopped engaging with kpop, you might not know that SHINee lost Jonghyun in 2017, that was a sad time for the group 💎💎💎💎💎
I came to know about bigbang last year and I can't explain in words how much I love gdragon obsession is an understatement😂 the love and respect I developed for gdragon I never had for any artist
Really loved Mblaq and actually joined their overseas fan clubs. I fell out of love with kpop because now there’s so many groups and they’re all so young, I kind of don’t want to have boy crushes on “boys”
Y'all have favorites??? I stan SKZ and my bias changes from time to time. Most of the time I just say it's Chan but it's never really fixed on just him. Sometimes I wonder how people can genuinely pick favorites in skz cause they're all great in their own way
Ummm who said that people forgot BIGBANG..........they are still the topic today even though they have not released any music, more importantly, I blast my GD playlist daily..........their music is timeless to many.
I love your videos a lot, that's why I recommend you watch the videos dedicated to the Burning Sun scandal by Rotten Mango, so you'll know BigBang aren't demolished because of cancel culture, but serious crimes including drugging and SA-ing young women, human trafficking and blackmailing, and more. My girl, Seungri was part of the whole burning sun scandal and most probably knew what was happening at HIS BUSINESS, like it was not just about sum tax money 🤨🤨
You're very outdated, you clearly did not read anything about the burning sun case. It was not his business, he had shares there, which is completely different. Furthermore, the chats that were later on "leaked" were bypassed by police because apparently all of them had strong ties with the police. Police knew what was going on, yet they did nothing. Seungri was not even in that particular chat (it was a singer Lee who turned out to be CNBlue's Lee Jong Hyun, why isn't he being mentioned as much I wonder?), yet the media added his name because of course the image of a corrupt police is not good so they needed an escape goat. Who better than Seungri's name? If you look just a little bit into it, you'd realise Seungri was in fact an escape goat to cover other people that were actually the main perpetrators. All the headlines were Seungri this Seungri that, but do we know the names of the direct perpetrators?

You have chosen a short-term parasocial relationship model, not a real person, but a persona created by a group of people, although it is correct to call it a choice, at the end of the day, that's all.
Don't forget Seungri from Big Bang and the Burning Sun scandal!

Welcome to the fandom!
Agreed

now try actual facts from official sources and not some problematic channels, he was never even accused of anything involving victims.
you making up so many false accusation against seungri just shows that you dont care one bit about real victims of actual cases, no prostitution ring exists in his case, he was not involved with burning suns case one bit nor was that club accused for anything related to prostitution either, the biggest reason for bigbangs downfall are dsgsting haters like you.

It's tough being a person of colour and being into kpop. You know their society can be pretty racist to people and is generally pretty conservative. It felt like every dollar or view I gave to kpop it was supporting that as well and the system that makes idols that can be abusive.
Yeah, it's rough to know I couldn't visit south Korea and feel included.
Coming back from school and chilling on your video 🍿🎥📺 is the perfect combo :)
For me whenever kpop loses its authenticity and tries to become western is just a turn off
My crush hasn’t changed for 4 years, live laugh love ENHYPEN😭 thankfully they’ve been doing great, since they’re really popular right now and won’t mess up their fame.

Gdragon is my everything and I love Gdragon I'm so happy he is finally come back 🌼 I love you so much GD oppa
It's insane if you think about it, it's like society is basically deciding the fate of these celebrities because a mass majority hates them.
police already said that seungri doesnt have anything to do with burning sun and the guys from the molka gc was friends with half the industry, even so jjy have said that he hasnt been incontact w him for years.
now try actual facts from official sources and not some problematic channels, he was never even accused of anything involving victims.

And my kpop crush was and still is Baekhyun from EXO, but now I don't feel the need to know what he is doing and I'm okay with just listening to his music and sometimes watching a video or two. people make mistakes, i dont expect anyone to be flawless, and thus, i consider most of them pretty eye candy and dont go deeper.
literally Jonhyun's death affected me so badly that i broke down and cried when i turned 28 because i was a year older than he ever got to be, and it hurt to think about, he was so young, he didnt deserve that -honestly tearing up thinking about it- RIP Jonghyun.

My 2 main biases were always Onew and Taemin from SHINee.
They just left their company, but I think they will be fine for the foreseeable future 🥰💎

I asked answered you why they are currently not that active! And yeah am a grown up too! Growing up doesn't make your admiration less for them am sure you have your own reason why your admiration is less or nothing left for them
When you just asked boy crush I was like, Andrew Keegan, and I learned he started a cult 🤣 And Jonathan Brandis, who committed suicide. 😢
I stopped following kpop artist. They seem so unreal to me. I do love them but not like a Stan. Now I’ve learned to focus on my life instead of worrying about people who don’t even know me 😂 although I still listen to them in my free time.
how did you totally miss out the bss...?
I didn’t really have celebrity crushes until I got into kpop around age 21. Before that, I mainly only had anime crushes…. I think that says a lot 😬
Okay this is actually fuxking creepy i just came from deleting everything K-pop related from my phone to unfollow and unsubscribe anything K-pop related from every social media platform to come across to this 😀
I didn't watch the full video, so I came cause I saw Jungkook on the thumbnail, idk what is in video but I will love BTS and Jungkook forever as a person and also as a International kpop BTS fan,
Rain💜💜💜💜
I knew Exo since I was 6. I've become Exol in 2017... and I left the whole K-pop in September 2023.. I feel better now. But sometimes I miss them ofc.. BTW they are good now.. or I hope they are.
我本来不是中国人所以能跟 ZOE 度这些短息我很高兴。😂。KISS TO YOU ZOE ❤
Oh man I was a Huge Big Bang fan. T.O.P. For life
I love you zoe!!!❤❤
All the headlines were Seungri this Seungri that, but do we know the names of the direct perpetrators?
now try actual facts from official sources and not some problematic channels, he was never even accused of anything involving victims.
