If you live in San Diego, check out Walter Anderson Nursery. We've collected 60+ varieties this year in San Diego... Tye sells rare varieties too... www.spicyexotics.com/varieties/
Download the wish app and search for the seeds you want. I got 1500 dragon fruit seeds for 2 dollars plus $1.70 for shipping. Recieved the seeds in about 3 weeks.
@Fast Minion I tried, but not knowing anything about what they needed, and living in northern Oregon. I failed. That was when I found Kevin and EG. I now have a new batch growing. So far so good. With out Kevin's vids I would never have attempted to try again. This is the best gardening series out there.
Even if you are not a Dragonfruit fan, everyone should watch this series. A good lesson in growing with anticipation, excitement and fun. Nice job Kevin.
You'd love to see my mother in law's wall of dragonfruit. And I do mean WALL. She used the railing at the top of the wall to trellis it. So she has a good 20ft or more of thick dragonfruit plants, but it's only a couple of plants, but they are long and dense. I believe we bought the house with an old dragonfruit plant. Like 12 years old or older. It's huge!
Loved this series. A little tip for you, dehydrate your extra dragon fruit. The flavor intensifies and is very satisfying. It also gives you fruit out of season. :)
Kevin, i first got my dragonfruit start about 1 1/2 years ago, and your dragonfruit videos have been a valuable resource. Thank you for the good information, and I’m happy to report that I have my first 2 dragonfruit flowers growing now! Keep up the good work and I look forward to more great content!
I bought a yellow dragon fruit from and asian store and started seed with my aero garden lights. I have 1 inch dragon fruits I just transplanted. I can't wait for more growth. Loving this fruit.
Thanks so much for your videos. I’m in Perth Western Australia and after seeing a dragon fruit my friend just grew I have just watched all your videos. Now completely inspired to grow my own. Will help keep me entertained whilst we self isolate here in Australia due to the Corona Virus. Cheers from Australia.
Omg that ‘bland kiwi’ looked so delicious and amazing. Even though I was imagining the bland, supermarket taste when you were cutting in, I was still drooling!
Wow, just experienced the whole father of dragons series :) thanks for your info, energy and passion! I have one that has been getting neglected because of blooming issues; I will try your advice and give them the attention and care they deserve, thanks man!
You sir earned yourself a sub. Great little series. I'm currently starting the journey of growing this inside (ND doesn't exactly give you much warm weather in a year). I was really curious about how your roommate's dragon fruit plants ended up turning out, so you'll have to give us an update on that! Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos
Hi Kevin I have done the similar process what you have done, iv purchase two dragon fruit cuttings this year January time and iv rooted both of them now, the branches have grown up my trellis and it has drop down, now on the branches instead flower buds coming its developing branches everywhere on every future flower buds, iv just posted a video up on my channel what the plant is doing I live in the uk and trying my best to produce one next year👍
Love your videos...my friend has has hers for two years still no fruit ... I’m starting mine from seed so hopefully I can work my magic with them ... I was wondering how your buddy’s plant looks ... did his fruit ... are they even still alive 🤷♀️ ... keep on making videos you are great 👍
Amazing! I bought a BEAUTIFUL dragonfruit at the market once and it was completely tasteless! I was so disappointed. I got beautiful art photographs of it though!
I am growing the yellow variety and so far everything applies equally. I however, started from seed! We have 12 inch pups now and soon to be cuttings into new pots. I dislike the way they branch out that is really pesty. I think I will try to keep them "single stem" as much as possible. Congrats Dragon Dad, your fruit looked gorgeous!
im blessed to have the soil And climate for them they grow like weeds in the dry trooics of far nth queensland Australia.... getting tbr Trellesing right is the most important thing.. can belueve u put tgem in pits espessually 4 together the roots are big and they are heavey feeders
I love your channel n i am so excited about my dragonfruit plants here i have the red one ..they r about 8 months old ..we just have 2 seasons as i live in the tropics .i was surprised in vid 2 with the amount of water u used but i understand y ..i just hope i did not damage any roots while putting a stake into the pots 😕well i must be patient n i do hope they come to fruition in the future ..so thank u for all the advice n tips ..
I missed when/why you've marked with a sharpie (or similar) with the dates -- is that the date that the fruit started to form? When the plant did the flower? when It started changing colors? Can you tell us more about that? Thanks!!!!
This is an amazing series! I’ve been on the edge of my seat with my friends watching how it flowers and the fruit!! How beautiful! We would love to see how it grows this next season!!
Awe man.. I really want to grow my own now.. I use to go visit family in Mexico and they would grow at my great grandma's house. I would go out and eat 2 or 3 a day for a week straight! Although her plant was up in a tree.
Thanks so much for a great series! I hand pollinated per your video, but the fruit when ot is size of a doulble golfball turns yellow and falls off. Ideas how to fix? Thank you in advance for any help you or other viewers can offer!
Epic Gardening - If I have a green house, and a heat pump that keep the temperature constantly at 80 degree Fahrenheit all year round, and have artificial light at night, then how many months in a year would a dragon fruit tree bear fruit ?
You really came across as a proud plant poppa. The dragonfruit looks good enough to eat. How would you describe the flavor? I've never seen dragonfruit up here and don't really think it would grow. Our growing season is a lot shorter than what you have in southern Cali. Thanks for sharing this series.
My dragonfruit flower opened two days and I believe the bees pollinated the flowers, but I am worried that I should have helped with the pollination. The flowers have been closed for 36 hours. I loved your 5 part series and it has significantly helped me get to this point. How long after the flower opened did you have to wait until a fruit developed, then how much longer until you were able to harvest? I have been reading through the comments for an answer, but could not find it. I apologize for asking again if you've already answered.
Great. That was most informative. I too have a dragonfruit plant that has not flowered for 2 years. I'll try out your method now. B.t.w. what was that harness you were wearing inside your jacket? It looked interesting. Can you share some details or link?
A great series. My Cactus gets actually its first bud. I took it a few days ago out the greenhouse into the full sun. Now we have a few days with 30 to 20 degrees and 12 to 6 degrees in night. The bud is now 19cm long . Hope it will open until the nights are too cold. What do you think is the minimum temperature for blooming?
Hey Kevin! I have got this “mini” dragon fruit plant.. I don’t know what colour it has.. would appreciate if you could guide abt its harvest time? Growing dragon fruit For the first time..
can it seems to me that you got fruit your fist season? do you know about starting from seed how long it takes to fruit. I live in zone 7a, Virginia, snow and frost of course. I just bought my first dragon fruit and glad i watched you eat this before I ate mine, I put it in the fridge for a snack later. I am also going to germinate some seed from it, will the cooling mess up the seeds?
Fellow San Diegan here - mine has its first fruit after 5 years (i didn't care for it as well as I could have and its a tangled mess as well). How long did it take for the fruit to ripen?
Question. I have a dragon fruit cutting and rn it’s in water but didn’t get to cut the bottom to form the roots. But the flower is forming rn. Do I just let it as is? Or cut it so the roots can form and put it in soil
You are getting sunscald in December? I know you are in San Diego, but that's still winter light. Mine are in a greenhouse here in the Bay Area, and still haven't flowered.
We have 60+ varieties and 20-30% have yellowing due to the late heatwave we experienced. Epsom salts seemed to help a bit, but more experienced growers told me not to worry and it will go away. It seems temperature dependent more that sunlight exposure.
Where do you get dragonfruit seeds/ plants!
I got mine off of Craigslist, but my friend Richard at Grafting Dragonfruit may have some for sale!
If you live in San Diego, check out Walter Anderson Nursery. We've collected 60+ varieties this year in San Diego... Tye sells rare varieties too... www.spicyexotics.com/varieties/

Thank all of you who gave me sources for seeds! I will be growing some soon!

Kind of you to say - thank you!

Thank you so much for following along
Loved this series. A little tip for you, dehydrate your extra dragon fruit. The flavor intensifies and is very satisfying. It also gives you fruit out of season. :)
Thanks so much for the video. I am from South Africa and are also going to plant dragonfruit.
My neighbor gave me some dragon fruit cutting today. So I am truly enjoying this whole series! Thank you!!

Thanks for going this far with the series. I realize that the numbers dropped, but it's a huge help to those of us who are genuinely interested.
That friend of yours you were competing with... he must be jealous now!
I bought a yellow dragon fruit from and asian store and started seed with my aero garden lights. I have 1 inch dragon fruits I just transplanted. I can't wait for more growth. Loving this fruit.
Curious what happened to your friends dragon fruit plant? Was hoping to see where he is at in the progress.
i love dragon fruit, and if you really want a treat try the yellow dragonfruit. it's 100 times sweeter!
I've tried...it's EPIC
Thanks so much for your videos. I’m in Perth Western Australia and after seeing a dragon fruit my friend just grew I have just watched all your videos. Now completely inspired to grow my own. Incredible watching this series. When it flowered;I think I cried. LOL I'm definitely getting one.
Thanks for watching - my roommate stopped actively caring for them!
Success!! Congratulations, Kevin!
Thanks Erik!
Dragon Fruit is amazing. Undescribable
Agree my friend

I've never tasted a dragonfruit before but would love too, for some reason when I think of a dragonfruit I think of Avatar. Very beautiful fruit 😊

Amazing! I bought a BEAUTIFUL dragonfruit at the market once and it was completely tasteless! I was so disappointed. I got beautiful art photographs of it though!
That's because they pick them early for shipping. Vine ripe is much better
Dont end this series, continue with other 6 varieties eespecially yellow variety
I'll do more for sure
Im trying to grow dragon fruit too! From seeds. 😁 I understand that it will take about 3 years to fruit and im ready for the journey! 🥰🥰🥰
thank you so much! This was so fun and informative! Congratulations on being a dragonfruit dad ;)
This is so great. I’ve had so many flowers but never the fruit. Thanks for tips
It could be that your df is not a self pollinating variety. It needs another variety that is self pollinating for cross pollination.
Good point on the pot and soil.... And definitely location location ya get it great tips
Good luck!
Ok, I’m so DEFINITELY getting a dragon fruit plant! 😊
I loved this series 🤩 Thanks for sharing. 👊🏾

I think you should put a shade net to reduce the sun intensity.
My Ficus turned out to have come with predatory mites and so did my Yucca early this year.
You are amazing, Kevin! I want to watch all your videos. There's so much to learn!
Kind of you to say!
I missed when/why you've marked with a sharpie (or similar) with the dates -- is that the date that the fruit started to form? When the plant did the flower? when It started changing colors? Can you tell us more about that? Thanks!!!!
This is equivalent to having your first born.
I am now the father of triplets!
Lovely!
Fo you tip your plants once you see buds in order to induce more growth and budding? Do you have any videos of this?
Proud parent ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations
What is the time of the year to cut ,plant ,flowering ,and harvest
Thank you so much .I have learned so much from you!!!
This is an amazing series! I’ve been on the edge of my seat with my friends watching how it flowers and the fruit!! How beautiful! We would love to see how it grows this next season!!
Mine is a very young cutting, I started just after you and it's only just growing a second limb
Hmm I hope it picks up for you in 2020
Awe man.. I really want to grow my own now.. I use to go visit family in Mexico and they would grow at my great grandma's house. I would go out and eat 2 or 3 a day for a week straight! Although her plant was up in a tree.
Yeah in the wild they love to climb!
Thanks so much for a great series! I hand pollinated per your video, but the fruit when ot is size of a doulble golfball turns yellow and falls off. Ideas how to fix? Thank you in advance for any help you or other viewers can offer!

This one is like a melon + kiwi + mild sweetness!
I saw someone just twist it and it comes off
That'll work!

Wow! Impressive! What to do with split dried up stems? Thank you.
Great. That was most informative. I too have a dragonfruit plant that has not flowered for 2 years. I'll try out your method now.
B.t.w. what was that harness you were wearing inside your jacket? It looked interesting. Can you share some details or link?
Awesomeness!!
“Let’s get into it.” Lol, yeah I caught that...
Hahaha. Ahoy, mate! 😄
A great series. My Cactus gets actually its first bud. I took it a few days ago out the greenhouse into the full sun. Now we have a few days with 30 to 20 degrees and 12 to 6 degrees in night. This made me so happy
Hey Kevin! I have got this “mini” dragon fruit plant.. I don’t know what colour it has.. would appreciate if you could guide abt its harvest time? Growing dragon fruit For the first time..
Love this series, what's next?
How does the neem oil protect it without burning it? I accidentally burned three of my citrus plants with neem.
can it seems to me that you got fruit your fist season? do you know about starting from seed how long it takes to fruit. I live in zone 7a, Virginia, snow and frost of course. Sorry I’m talking a about the dragon fruit plant
Hello, loved ur videos. But one question. Why the leaf got yellow at the end. Is it something we can avoid and how?
Once you harvest the fruit do you cut that leaf off or can it give fruit again the next year
Wow bro beautiful
What happened to your friends dragon fruit plant? Did he get fruit like you did?
I see that Timberland jacket boy oh yeah
😉
Awesome white fruits! @1:34, that is rot and you need to cut it out and remove it. It's a bacteria and can spread.
Very likely will remove this entire stem piece
@@epicgardening That works too!
The red one is much sweeter!! Love both though.

You are getting sunscald in December? I know you are in San Diego, but that's still winter light. Mine are in a greenhouse here in the Bay Area, and still haven't flowered.
We got smacked hard in November by a 90 degree heat wave for 3-5 days

Do you have any experience in “foliage feeding” dragon fruits?
Thanks for the great series.
Does anyone know what Kevin uses to write dates on the dragon fruit?
beautiful!!!!
Kevin, father of dragons
@ Epic Gardening, when will Master Richard Lee give you a higher belt in growing your dragonfruits/child,ha?.
Who won the competition you or your friend
Dragon fruits can still continue ripening after you pick them.
Can I grow these plants in Doha, Qatar? If so how do I grow it in my weather?
Hi, Is it possible to grow Dragonfruit at home in Illinois?
Do you have series on growing dragon fruit from seed
He has Will Smith’s eyes, loved the entire dragonfruit series!
