LOVE THIS! Hubby & I have been off grid and homesteading for almost 10 yrs and we've finally decided at least for starters to go vegetarian with vegan in the works. Definitely happy to see other homesteaders doing the same.
Very cool couple doing a really cool thing. It’s the little things that matter most and everyone does what they can. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Thanks for this cool video too!
This is awesome to see and I'm inspired by their openness and courage to do better once they knew better. I will say, I disagree with the notion that their animal farming neighbors aren't bad people because they're simply following the money. I seem to be the odd vegan out for this, but I can at least respect hunting or a self-subsistence farm more than some coward who lifts themselves up by putting others down - in this case literally.
I love these guys honesty. And it's true what they say that you shouldn't force the feelings of being ok with killing even tho you know deep down its wrong! More people need to see this!!!
@@DominionMovementDotOrg I am vegan most the time now, but sometimes when my flat mates leave pizza or something on the kitchen table it's hard to resist. And honestly sometimes tasting it again is better than being completely strict about it in my experience, because often my memory of how something tastes makes it much better than it actually tastes when I eat it again. So hopefully my brain will learn that I don't need it and will grow out it completely...
My family is vegan but we have a dog and we cook his meat at home. Even dealing with meat that’s not for my family still feels sad bc we know what the animal went through. Now on the process of looking for a country property we will not have animals for eating, but what to do for the dog❓ buying sustainably raised meat is very expensive as well.. so ... and we’re not giving the dog away. He’s family
Yeah this is true. Just know you are actually killing for survival of your pet not for your own pleasure. There is nothing non vegan about that to me as a vegan.
Well, RIP. My great Grandmother did all the chopping. Even at 101, she would grab that chicken and chop that head. It is how you are raised to survive on a farm; she has been raised on a farm all her life in Puerto Rico. I feel you; I can not chop a live chicken's head for my life. You need to also consider that there is an overpopulation of chickens. Then there is an overpopulation of Foxes, bears, Cougars, and panthers, and in no time, we become the hunted ones. They are the overpopulated ones. There is no accessible medium; either we are the apex predator, or we become their food supply. Of course, I am not talking about Cows or pigs; I am talking about what eats the cows and pigs. The more cows, pigs, goats, fowl, and chickens, the more predators. Increase food chain.
Buddy.... Farmed animals aren't wild. If we didn't breed them, they wouldn't exist. They're not 'overpopulated', they're perfectly populated for the number we demand them to be in. I'm really confused by how you decided that predators would start hunting people? Foxes are not going to kill us, obviously, and predators that can try to avoid us. 'Of course, I am not talking about Cows or pigs; I am talking about what eats the cows and pigs' WE EAT THE COWS. No one else! The only reason foxes and such eat lambs is because we eradicated the native animals that lived there! Once we stop breeding them, the native animals will return.
Would you buy gum from Marlboro? It’d be the same as buying vegan products from Tyson. You’re promoting that business regardless what they’re offering.
I used to see the point where u guys r coming from, but it's the same morally grey area as a grocery store. -Mass Ani Ag is difficult to avoid and we are free to oppose it, feel disgust, and make efforts to reduce its influence In the meantime, Fastfood restaurants and Grocery stores are where the majority of the human population in the western world gets their food from, and is oftentimes the only food source for many people. Just like with grocery stores, buying vegan options, increases and encourages more plant-based options. Less animals are killed. One day it's a money grab, the next day a Burger King serves only plant-based food (like what happened with the UK burger king). Which is ultimately a good thing. Veganism is not about Purity, it's harm reduction to the best of our ability, and we owe it to those who dont have options, as well as the future vegans to encourage them to omit animal products whenever and wherever we can. With a variety of ways of harm reductionism/increased reliability and preference for Vegan food, we can dismantle these devil conglomerates, and also not place an impossible strain on new vegans, and those who unfortunately have to depend on them (due to food deserts, environmental racism, or lack of information on veganism) until a better more ethical option springs up or they figure it out once the ball gets rolling. I grow alot of my own food, and haven't stepped foot in a fastfood restaurant in years, but I will still actively encourage my cousins who live in the inner city to choose plant-based options whenever they pop up. Nowadays a lot of people around me are curious about starting their own veganic garden. AniAg is a means to an end, play chess not checkers folks!

Are these couple native New Yorkers? Does anyone know? They sound like it (especially the guy).

Dogs are omnivorous. It is not too hard to get them healthy nutritional vegan dogfood. Cats are more challenging because they are true carnivores.
Yeah this is true. Just know you are actually killing for survival of your pet not for your own pleasure. There is nothing non vegan about that to me as a vegan.
we have had dogs that ate only vegetarian foods... lived upto 15 years of age... can be done... dont worry... :)
It's been scientifically proven that dogs are healthier on a plant based diet, just like us❤
That would be sooo me. I want to have a farm but I cannot imagine killing the little guys. I would be a terrible farmer.
I HAVE THE SAME THING IT A LOT OF MONEY.
Where in Florida?

Just like the kfc vegan burger, they're the biggest chicken killers in the whole world and just trying to make a cut from vegan?!

I'm sorry the impossible burger does not taste like meat.the only thing that tastes like meat is meat
