@@kokopelli2012 Also, I somewhat jested in my experience. I am no farmer by any stretch, but did grow up in a small country town, where all my friends lived on farms I would spend a lot of time at. Been in the city far too long, and am quite rusty though. Also as a carpenter by trade, I'm a little bit handy with some things that will likely be useful. Still, so much to learn!! Can't wait to move back out to country life!
You're a natural at this! I'm really interested in the trees on the farm, I've been wanting to do this for a few years now but I've always heard that they wouldn't work in the system, however, we farm in an extremely hot climate so I would think it would have many benefits. They probably need to be deciduous trees though, right?
Hi there! Thanks! Yes the trees are a really nice asset to have in the market garden, definitely for the protection in harsh weather conditions, but also for the added increase in diversity and interactions between different systems and wildlife. Having said that, the land we farm on is rented and the trees were already there, so we decided to work our way around them. This layout of trees is not the most practical, and I would personally never plant them in this layout. Instead, I would make tree lanes planted more on a Keyline pattern, following the work of P. A. Yeomans. If that is not possible, I would make blocks (or plots/fields) of a certain amount of beds and in between all the blocks plant hedgerows, trees and a whole bunch of different things. They don't necessary need to be deciduous, but take into consideration the constant shade evergreen trees will cast during different times of the year (which is something you might want - or not). And also take into consideration when designing trees into your system, the height and width they'll have at mature stage! Hope that helps! Thanks for watching👍

Thanks for sharing your experience Moreno. This has to be the best video on the web about all the aspects of starting your own farm and how to ensure it succeeds. Wonderful information. You are an awesome inspiration.
Hey Phil, thank you for the kind words! Hope it will help :)
@@TheDutchFarmer Wow! You run your beautiful farm , generously teach others to do the same, give away free ebook , and you still reply to comments within 5 minutes....... you are a dynamo ;)
@@TopDingoMan I wake up early so I can reply to people, before 'the real work' starts ;)
Thank you for the informations . I just bought a house in few acres and now I am starting my garden.
Those bird chirping sounds 😍
Right? Makes it hard not to just lay on your back and pretend you're outside.
Excellent Information!! This video is a complete book. I don't usually watch nor do I like to watch long videos with lots of talking. Since I've been container gardening I decided to watch the entire video. Thank You. In depth details and tips are perfect.
Thanks for sharing your approach, very valuable nformation!! I'm currently running a small 400sqm no dig market garden, as part of a bigger permaculture project in Germany.
For me it was a really good reminder to meet the restaurant owners this winter and completely plan the next year ahead. So that the amount of grown produce really fits to the demand! Also clearly setting financial goals and then go on from there, like Fortier also says!
Thanks a lot, looking forward to more videos ;)
Hi Felix, glad you liked it! Do you have a link or more information about your project? I'd like to see it!
@@TheDutchFarmer Yeah, but unfortunately it's only in german so far: www.naturgemacht.org/

I`d love to visit your farm, maybe some time next year! Always keen on learning new things :) I've spend 2 weeks at Charles Dowdings place in Sept. which was a huge inspiration!
@@leozlatkovic Thanks for sharing! Yes, we can definitely keep in touch. I've got also many farms on my list that I still have to visit. From what I've seen so far, your farm looks really nice. Keep up the good work👍
Moreno, thanks for the vast amount of information based on your experience of starting a farm! It's obvious that you are speaking from knowledge gained with real-life experience and the fact that you are willing to share this information says a lot about who you are. Keep up the great work!

Very informative and dedicated. This has encouraged me from being a hobby into a business to my small farm.
We might think you’re a pro at farming. We got valuable ideas from your video and we’re going to share your channel with our customers who want to start a farm. Thanks for creating this!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you from the U.S.
Thanks a million for the inspiration. I can hear the Permaculture principals coming through strongly! We would also like to get out of the system and grow veg, but as you have said, have neglected the critical first step of market research and actually getting the day to day design layout has also been challenging. Back to the drawing board for us! This is exactly what I needed.

"so you want to start a farm with no experience whatsoever...." - this video is for me.
Welcome! Hope you enjoyed it :)
@@kokopelli2012 Honest question here. Why would you say that it's not exactly for beginners?
@@kokopelli2012 Hey Eric, thank you. We put lots of effort into our production systems to create high quality produce.
With all due respect it's part of the business world to be able to politely accept constructive critique.
Watching from Malawi small have just started my small garden dreaming for a farm thank you your content is perfect
