Cant wait to see you guys have a car with this finish and then you throw some bizarre hypershift on top just to see how the interference pearls react to the added texture
Seeing this come up a lot - as of now there is no way to make a "clear" variant with enough clarity to use pearls. However we're already in development of color shifting options like our Persian Blue, Jasper, Atomic Berry, etc!
@@dipyourcar Would a flake work for a very subtle effect? I know if you drop a little red flake in solid black you get a very subtle something, would that work here?
@@dipyourcar completely impractical but for the sake of a cool video - this Body Armor first then a top coat with a hypershift/pearl. The topcoat would ruin the whole point of Body Armor, and I'm sure it would be a wacky texturized mess but would definitely look pretty cool.
This will be great not only for people for 4x4's vehicles for off roading and rock crawling but also for all kinds of ATV's or if you live in an area of the country that gets sand storms to protect the paint for resale value ! The Camo colors look great and would be awesome to protect a hunter or fisherman's truck and ATV !
This is the most honest video I've seen from a company. You literally beat the hood with branches and scratched it with a screwdriver.......I appreciate the transparency.
I really want to see a hypershift over body armor. And the body armor over a different color base coat. (Black over White, Pink over Poison Grape, Etc.)
I wrote to you some time ago about adding a layer of raptor liner on top of a base coat of your primer and if that would work. Sadly we decided the chemicals were not compatible. I LOVE that you guys did this, I'm DEFINALTY going to get a kit of it... well done sir!
i'm an e moto enthusiast, and i could see this being utilized on many of the parts that normally get destroyed by dirt, muck and tree branches i think also cool , that you coated an entire audi !!
Well Done!! I like the way you explained each step, and then showed the results. Nice tutorial! I can, also, see this on an offroad vehicle with an old style of multi colored Army Camo, with the black and the forest green, and desert tan.
I love it. This is amazing. What a great idea. I've always wanted to do a whole car with bed liner but the permanent aspect kept me away from it. This is genius. Also please do more videos like this where you are showing more of the spraying and teaching people how to dip your cars
If you go 4w driving, or have a ute for work (i think you call them trucks in the USA), then this is a must. Love how you can easily put it back to factory settings.
This is an awesome option to have up here in Washington to prep for the upcoming winter. This will help protect vehicles from rock chips from the loose gravel and snow slush we have every winter. I'm digging the camo green and desert tan colors. Off road lovers are going to love this kit!
THIS IS AWESOME! I was looking into raptor liner and other full car coatings... and thats what i couldnt get over... I dont want to sand and permanently coat my car. However, i am also not a tornado chaser. So this is perfect for me.
I have concord grape on my 4runner right now and i live on a long dirt road and do a lot of camping and offroading. I was literally just telling my fiance this summer i wish they had a rhino liner dip. I decided i was going to bedline it. Cause protection over beauty. Im so glad i waited for next summer. Thank you 🎉 been a long time follower since you guys first released and you guys never disappoint!
Aussies would love this product so many 4x4s with underbody paint jobs. This sounds like an even better solution, especially for people with newer cars that don't want to permanently paint in textured. I can imagine newer hilux rocking this because it's removable
For some reason, watching you peel the hood made me think of the old movie 'Johnny Dangerously,' where their getaway car is covered in layers of shelf liner and wallpaper that they peel off whenever they hear the description of the car change to match the current look. Pretty funny, as they end up with nursery wallpaper: "Be on the lookout for a [insert car type] covered in... bunnies and duckies?!"
I realise its meant to match base ans armor but imagine the fun you could of mixing like camo green over brown? I think you have made tons of truck owners very happy for their beds
This could be really nice for weekend warriors taking their car to the race track. Yeah, it probably adds a fair amount of drag to the car but if your not racing competitively and its just for fun, I think shaving a bit off the top speed for paint protection would be a great option.
I think the opposite could be true, due to the golf ball effect. Would be interesting to see a wind tunnel test before and after painting. Could be a great USP for energy saving EV nerds..
That is a very unique texture. Looks almost like the car is made of stone. Next thing I know you'll be trying to make the car look like it's made of Granite. Which would be cool AF, to be sure.
Super congrats on the NEW product. It's been a long road (pun intended) to get this into production. Great video, lots of details that will help in achieving a great paint job. I am amazed you released 12 colors on the same day, expected black only for the initial release. I have to admit, I am concerned how it peels after it has been on the car for some time (weeks, months), would be good to release a video (maybe just on social media) of it being peeled after a week or two.
Maybe show this body armour to some bicycle manufacturers, I think this would be awesome for the underside of the down tube, bottom bracket and chain stays of mountain bikes
glad there is a kit now, done this with the spray cans before on the hood it was a bit more on the fuzzy side but I sprayed a regular coat above it. took a few cans. I did this cause the hood was still bare metal and was waiting to paint. with Dip Coat it looked great and stayed clean. wish there was a half gallon just to do parts? it might be nice to try colors
I have a black Lincoln Aviator. It would be cool to do the front end, with some kind of gradual blending to the fender. I don't offroad it or anything, but that big blunt front end is a magnet to bugs or any kind of loose gravel.
I can see a lot of uses for this product. I find myself wondering about using 1 or more different colors of body armor over a contrasting color of Plasti Dip. For example, a granite texture: gray base, black and white armor coats, probably alternating colors between coats, ending in white. I'd tend to use fewer armor coats, to ensure some of the base coat is visible (or include the base color as one of the armor colors when applying more coats). I think this would look great in certain applications.
It is funny how something my father taught me about with just oil paint is now really a whole thing. Like he said, it is now new. And my car is painted with just oil paint, fast dries and 2k hardnerr . Air gun 😂😂😂 5 years and still good .
Will this work well on semi truck wheels with the miles and elements we go through to protect the shine during winter and also will it hold up to tire changes or do we gotta redo the coating anytime we need to patch or change a tire on a semi?
Can’t say it’s my style, but a better alternative to the guys beginning their vehicles. Maybe make bed lining kits for trucks? That would be a good market if it holds up.
Ah, I thought this was going to be for trackday/clearcoat protection. This is more of a "tuff-liner" look. Maybe I missed it... is there a peel-able clear protection for trackdays that doesn't require a base plasti-dip coat? Thanks for the vid!
I am curious how much of an effect this would have with a pearl or a colorshift over the top of this. The texture could add a crazy amount of "sparkle" or it might be a sensory overload and hide all the body lines.
Peelable armour is cool. Would have loved to use this on my Mitsubishi Pajero (Australian 4x4). I'm impressed by the way you take the time to explain things to everyone. Reckon I would have used the desert sand on a 4x4.
Two things. First, dip my toolbox in this immediately. I'd love everything about that. Secondly, I wonder how a camo color scheme would look. Something like camo green over tan or vise versa. How well would the base come through?

Love the constant innovation coming out of this company!
how does this do on heat? IE exhaust/engine?
Now it functional!!! Looks good BUT, can you spray a hypershift over it or can you mix in a hypershift with the gallon?
